선생님한테도 전달을 해줘야 되 겠죠

그래서 이렇게 말씀해 주시는 게 좋아요

'나는 지금 말을 많이 연습하고 싶은데

중간에 실수를 해도 고쳐 주지 마세요 .'

'그리고 중대한 실수만

수업 마지막에 알려주세요.'

이렇게 말씀해주시면 좋아요.

그리고 이 형태의 연습을 하다가

어느새 이런 기분이 들 거예요.

나는 이제 문장이 좀 더 쉽게

좀 더 빠르게 나오는 것 같긴 해요 .

그런데 뭔가 불만족스러워요.

왜냐하면 문장이 더 쉽게 나오는데

내가 만드는 문장이

별로 마음에 안 들어요.

문장 구조가

계속 비슷한 문장만

사용하는 것 같고

그리고 올바른 문장도 아닌 것 같고

내 문장 구조가 좋아지는 것 같지 않아요.

이런 느낌이 분명히 들 거예요.

왜냐하면 우리가 이러한

프리토킹 아니면

편하게 하는 회화를 통해서

이 편안함 순발력 속도

이런 것들이 좋아지지만

정확도가 올라가지 않아요.

내 문장 구조의 난이도를

높이기 위해서

우리가 다르게 연습을 해야 돼요 .

우리 문장의 정확도를 올리려면

두 가지가 필요해요.

첫 번째

인풋

우리가 인풋을

무조건 하고 계실 거예요. 어차피

인풋이 아주 기본적이고

아주 중요한 요소예요.

지속적으로 하는 인풋 없이 우리가

앞으로 나갈 수 없어요.

그리고 물론 회화를 하면서

선생님이 나한테 하는 말도

인풋으로 인정돼요.

그런데 회화를 진짜 많이 하지 않는 이상

선생님 말을 들으면서

들어오는 인풋의 양이

좀 부족할 거예요.

왜냐하면 인풋은 너무 중요한

여러 가지 역할을 해줘요.

일단 영어에 대한 이해도를 높이 고

내 머릿속에서 영어에 대한 그런

내면의 모델이 생기게 해줘요.

그리고 새로운 문법도

인풋을 통해서 배워요.

이게 지금 아마 느껴지지 않을 거예요 .

그런데 중상급 고급으로 올라가고 나서

다시 뒤돌아보면

내가 문법 책에서 배운 문법보다

인풋을 하면서 배운 문법이

압도적으로 많다는 것을

느낄 수 있게 될 거예요.

그래서 새로운 문법을 배우고

새로운 표현 새로운 단어

이런 회화를 하면서 사용할

그런 재료를 제공해줘요.

그런데 우리가 인풋을 하는 게 중요 하지만

우리가 회화도 하고 싶다면

인풋으로 부족해요.

우리가 인풋으로 들어오는 그 지식을

회화를 하면서

활성화시킬 필요가 있어요.

그리고 정확도를 올리기 위한

그런 연습을 할 때

우리가 'deliberate practice'를 사용할 거예요.

그러니까 deliberate practice는

어떤 특정한 목적으로 하는

아주 의도적인 연습이에요.

그리고 아주 효과 좋은 연습이에요 .

그래서 어떻게 하냐면

우리 수업 전에

미리 준비를 해야 될 거예요.

그래서 어떤 주제를 선택하시고

그 주제에 대해서 준비를 할 거예요 .

준비를 간단하게 하려면

선생님이랑 회화를 할 때

어떤 문장을 내가

이 주제에 대해서

사용할 수 있는지

미리 준비하시고

아니면 좀 더 자세한 준비를

하고 싶다면 짧은 스피치를

미리 만들어 보시는 거 좋아요.

이것도 한 달 두 달만 해보면

실력이 얼마나 올라갔는지

느낄 수 있으실 거예요.

그리고 수업을 시작할 때

선생님한테 내가 어떤 종류의

수업을 원하는지 알려주는 게

중요할 거예요.

그래서 이렇게 말씀해 주시는 게 좋아요

'나는 이 주제에 대해서 수업을 하고 싶다.'

'그리고 스피치를 만들었다.'

'먼저 스피치가 끝난 후에

그 스피치에 대해서 피드백을 받고 싶다.'

'그리고 피드백을 받고 나서

선생님이랑 이 주제에 대해서 대화를 하고 싶은데

대화를 하면서도 실수 교정 그리고 피드백을

최대한 많이 받고 싶다.'

이렇게 말씀해 주세요.

그래서 선생님이 아주 잘 해주실 거예요

.

자 여기서 주의점

우리가 피드백에

실수 교정에 대한

약간 이상한 점이 하나 있어요

이게 세계에서

외국어 선생님 모두 다

이 점 때문에 아주 고민하고 있어요. 아직도

왜냐면 우리가 선생님이기 때문에

학생의 실수를 교정을 해주죠. 당연히

그런데 이게 생각보다 효과 없어요 .

그래서 피드백만 받고

그 후에 아무것도 안 하시면

별로 효과 없을 거예요.

그래서 우리가 그런 약간

후속 조치도 필요할 거예요.

그래서 수업 동안에

내가 받은 피드백

연습해 주시는 게 중요해요.

왜냐하면 피드백을 받으면

이 피드백이 이론적인 지식에 불과 해요.

그런데 이론적인 지식은

우리 의식적인 마인드에서 살아요 .

그런데 우리가 방금 얘기 나눴던 것처럼

우리 의식적인 마인드가 가지는 지식을

우리가 회화 속에서 잘 사용 못 하잖아요

우리가 회화 속에서

무의식적인 마인드가 가지는 지식 만

사용할 수 있어요.

그렇게 해야 이론적인 지식은

장기 기억으로 그리고

무의식으로 넘어갈 거예요

그리고 마지막 점
