I want to welcome everyone back to the
channel maybe you haven't been here in a
while um but welcome back as the first
point on the agenda today pezza I want
to discuss with you when not if shall we
burn this thing down that being the
gabber I'm sick of it [ __ ] burn it
down I've had enough of it Fortress no
longer I've seen sure I've just watched
one of the greatest test match this
country has ever seen I'm more
interested in the nearly 100 Game 4mth
season of the IPL in 3 years time I
think that brings more joy consistently
to people so there's two points there
bring on the IPL I say and also burn the
[ __ ] down
thoughts it's not really a fortress is
it you know it it it turns out it this
actually diminishes what India did a few
years ago I think maybe we went
overboard um Australia just Los loses
there every couple of years particularly
when is when it isn't the first test of
the year yeah uh look I don't know he
goes
um you know I I I was worried about you
doing this last night you know when I
was cross-examining you about whether we
were going to be magnanimous in the
event of a West Indies Victory and look
for a Damen martines scapegoat but um I
kind of uh I got to say
if this is treasonous or not like I kind
of agreed with that lone voice at the
cavernous gabber as alzari Joseph ran in
with a couple of OES to go who yelled
out in the most Aussie accent come on
alzari I mate I had messages flying in
from a lot of people very happy uh with
what happened and I have to say like I I
I I couldn't take my hat further off uh
all my pants off uh to the and and it
would be disappoint poting to them if I
did that but um to the West Indies for
this win in particular Shamar Joseph who
has um delivered one of the greatest
performances seen on these Shores in the
history of the game uh there's just no
exaggeration there seven far with a
broken Edgar Allen Poe uh from the night
before and Aussies in particular love it
with a bit of pain we're talking John
sattler's jaw you know dery's ribs or
some [ __ ] uh you know bowling High 140s
over after over into his eighth into his
ninth uh zeroing in shuffling in that
kind of Malcolm Marshall uh quick arm
action it's it's it's got to be one of
the greatest performances ever seen uh
in Australia in the circumstances and uh
to see him break down and cry after
taking his Fifer uh followed by just the
sheer twitch on the man after they won
uh it
it's it doesn't really get much better
for for a sports person uh playing
Cricket in Australia so I I just have to
start with that that was um it was just
one of the most brilliant things I've
ever
seen which team which team was more
diminished when beating Australia at the
Gaba the Indian team that had a guy
called te natarajan that no one's even
seen since including his friends and
family or a guy that was working in a
nightclub 6 minutes ago who wasn't even
going to turn up to the ground today cuz
he broke his [ __ ]
foot what the [ __ ] we talking about a
fortress [ __ ] hell Australia can't
come soon enough Al Nicholson was saying
six months ago this bloke was bowling
guy fruit you know and he and and he
wasn't even talking about the he wasn't
talking about the analogy using Cricket
he's like literal fruit in the jungle of
Guyana now I don't know if that's true
or not I thought it was an awesome call
I also loved Bishop call as well saying
felicitations you know from King to
Jamaica give me that voice drip it down
me uh yeah man it was it was some pretty
hot [ __ ] the nature of the dis
dismissals as well you know cam green
who was looking good with 42 uh just
cracks him on the elbow there back onto
the stumps head necks ball straight
through the defenses yorking the coat uh
so to speak it was um mate the guy the
guy was hot it was so it was so awesome
um and there was something in it for
everybody you know there was there was a
chance of Steve Smith getting an even
100 so it kept the artists in the game
as well uh Josh D Silva stepped on his
Bat uh that that was that was going to
upset people there was just a there was
just a lot going on you know uh
meanwhile England's getting themselves
back into the game against India as well
uh nothing's really coming up Australia
uh these last couple of hours not at
least our national day which I'm sure
there'll be uh conversation about in
some quarters following this result well
I think the real winners of The View
count of this video p and maybe our
subscriber count cuz many people left
after a certain game that happened a
couple months ago but I think people
might come back um and we'll also be
reviewing that game uh over there in
hydrabad at at the conclusion of that
one as well um Shamar Joseph
pezza I think like I just want to touch
on what you said about like one of the
best individual performances from an
away player ever I mean I was just
actually trying to think of some in my
lifetime like ctly Ambrose 7 for two in
a spell at the Wacker happened in
lifetime um there was like Coy's
2013 or something like that where he
scored 400s was it here I mean like that
was Sensational I feel like there's been
some decent batting performances over
time Alistair Cook um and trot in the
1011 Nation series when they won here
3-1 with three Innings victories um I
try to think like some other like even
like like the really big players in the
history of the game maybe like a mly
don't think it t h 240 lus hit 277 like
guys have done stuff sticks yeah like
there's been some good batting
performances for sure just trying to
think about bowling like yeah curly
Amber is one that sticks in the mind but
but that from that position that they
were in and also like just love that he
was in pain and he's done it hard as
well up one getting wasn't getting to
the ground cuz he was in hospital I love
that yeah oh um and I've actually played
with quite a few BLS as well who ended
up in hospital lot before a game they
weren't coming to the ground um but pass
that performance 7 for 68 7 for 68 to
win the
game just about single- handly like like
I thought like alzari Joseph would look
kind of unders heaps of no balls um
spinner H not in the game at all um
Groves ball K I suppose uh and and like
just like the the the the nature of the
wickets like that was [ __ ] Wheels man
he was hitting 150 there's guys that
have bow quick out here for sure shab
Mark Wood uh in more recent times but
like that that was that it was 150s and
it was a heavy ball oh and the last ball
that gets
Hazelwood [ __ ] hell man I like I was
oh I was I was a gasp um but you know uh
what does it all mean what does it all
mean I mean I I know I guess I'm saying
as I agree with you that it was [ __ ]
just one of the greatest individual
performances I've ever seen in my
lifetime from an a white player but who
do we blame Pizer um is it time to blame
Damien Martin for Chippy one to cover in
1993 at theg is it time to blame that is
it time to blame [ __ ] for declaring in
the first Innings when those first
Innings runs were desperately needed is
it time to blame Pat cumins is it time
to blame Woolworth for not selling
plastic flams who do we blame in the
country Sam
Perry
um uh I just want to just just note one
more thing about Shamar Joseph that
makes it extra special it's literally
his second [ __ ] test
match you know like that that was
like that that was the the penetration
of a seasoned campaigner that like
professional like International
professional cricketers are afraid of
you know like the the thing that helps
individual performances stand out in and
of like goes beyond the performance
itself it's in comparison to what
everybody else is able to do and as you
noted n none of his colleagues while
being kind of able supporters were
really at the level that was needed to
win that game it was going to take one
of the most special bowling performances
and and that comes from a guy with the
story that he has in his second test at
a venue where Australia essentially
doesn't lose or used to not lose just
makes it all the more um you know the
the the like the birth of a star really
uh so I yeah I just like like he he's
the story of the game um it's a it's
it's a positive story
um very happy to get into the blame game
now as well I thought you I thought I
thought you kicked that off well um I
think ultimately it's going to it's
going to zero in on cumin um I mean I'm
pretty disappointed the bowlers didn't
get the runs that's that's usually their
job uh in in test matches so not really
sure what's going on there with the
bowlers uh and and their blade work um
but uh you know Andrew you know but I
mean we're we're going to zero in in
Ronnie as well I mean he he manages to
to escape uh some of some of the stuff
um I'll tell you what like
um it is it is an absolutely deserved
Victory uh the the wy's are essentially
ahead uh for the majority of the game
and they rendered the conditions
favorable when they bowled and battered
uh I thought they battered with more
application they bowled Fuller uh and
more penetratingly they exposed
Australian weaknesses they're just
absolutely excellent value for the win
and moreover looking broadly at the
summer it it is makes complete sense
that like one of the opposition teams
took at least a match uh I think
Australia does well to come out of the
summer four tests to one up you know
maybe I'm going too far there but um
maybe it just shows Australia is
normally pretty good at edging
themselves over the line then edging
themselves uh you know so so I I think
it's a really really deserved result and
yeah it's going to it's going to ask
questions about where Australia is
really
uh you know as it should that's what
happens when Australia loses a game
against a team sponsored by you know
Baker
Delight um P Australia have lost eight
for 94 to lose the game um and and
whilst you look at the raw numbers of
that and you think well that's just a
complete capitulation of one of the
highest orders to lose a game from there
to lose eight for 94 to lose a game by
eight or nine runs um but I agree with
you in that the the best team has won
the game um and and of course if you
factor in the summer that that one team
has sorry yeah that one team has taken
one game off the Aussies this year or
this this Australian summer but like
because whilst they've lost 8 for
94 they had the best bowler of the match
and the guy has just like in a
footballing s sense grabbed the game by
the Scruff of the neck and just won the
game for his team you know like but then
at the same time I'm I'm thinking about
the mode of dismissals for the guys so
like Cameron green gets a really good
ball seems to jump off a length and then
hits him in the elbow is bald great ball
Travis head it's a Yorker but it's like
it's also a low full toss I mean it's
not it's not a bad ball by any sense but
Tails away it's now it's it's now it's
now four balls in a row he's been out at
the gabber um uh Alex kry plays a pretty
expansive drive it's a good ball again
but it's um it's probably not great um
Mitchell Marsh Nicks off that that was a
decent ball I suppose Mitchell Stark
made 21 from 14 and looked like he was
trying to get it done by the dinner
break um and so whilst that was positive
the shot that he plays he then excuse
one to Mid off wasn't it um or Point
even it was caught so that's loose uh
lion is pulling he plays that yeah I
know I guess I'm I'm trying to balance
between finding flaws in the chase where
they've lost eight for 94 to lose the
game whilst also celebrate the
individual performance of Joseph um so I
mean I I know I mean it it was just the
story of the was the story of the of the
summer for the Aussies like um Manus
there's been a lot of talk about Manus
hasn't scored 134 Innings I think he's
averaged 19 since the beginning of 2023
had some tough tours but I guess that's
test Cricket um maybe what I'm just
doing is expanding on your point of like
where is Australia really at I still
think it's a really good team um but uh
I don't know I guess as well Steve Smith
91 red opening the batting um so would
Australia won had bankr been playing
something to think about um I I think
that's the main question coming out of
it you know if you bring Cameron Bank
into the decide what happens um I don't
know I got to say I was you I was I was
starting to I thought I could I could
see a flicker of you know a grown man in
Cameron green during this Innings you
know I I don't know about you just a
just a couple of authoritative shots
down the ground you know like when when
he when he started it was still like you
know propping pushing reaching you know
timid tentative I even liked the way he
got annoyed when he got out like he he
showed us all that it had hit his elbow
just thought that was just a display of
emotion that I was that I was ke to see
um uh but you know I I I thought he
looked good I thought I thought he
titilated us a little bit Cameron green
which is what I is what I want to see uh
but yeah like the Aussies may explain it
along the same lines as they explained
the deli capitulation you know that it
was like they had plans you know and all
players went out to play their attacking
game game you know head goes first ball
I suppose uh Mitch Marsh Alex KY uh you
know Mitch Stark Nathan Lon was playing
fairly positively not L actually looked
better than most getting behind and
getting forward to the ball and hitting
down the
ground uh you know they must have
assessed that that it was a tough deck I
really think that um I really think the
story is is is one guy um going through
the Aussies with some EX exceptionable
exceptionable sorry exceptional bowling
I'm saying that word uh
and when you when you're bowling high
140s and you are challenging the Stomps
every ball you know he he looked like
getting wickets all the time yeah he
went for a few because he was he was
doing exactly that but um you know it's
just it's it's hats off pants off stuff
for me I think I think it's [ __ ]
awesome and I think he's obviously a
great character who was interviewed
after the game by BJ and uh just put the
credit back on to his teammates as well
which was really cool he made fun of
himself crying after taking fer like he
he was genuinely in tears after taking
fer I just think that's that that's
actually kind of cool sorry to be
vulnerable about
that um what better time to be
vulnerable peasant by putting glasses

covering the uh India and England test
match which is going to finish you think
in about an hour or so times we'll be
covering the end of that day's play as
well right here in the channel so if you
are new want to click subscribe um peza
um I want to say oh yeah I want to say
like Smith Smith 91 almost gets it done
at the end there Just the Way Anova
before he ramped um alzari Joseph for
six and I thought that had once they got
it to less than 10 by taking that single
um to give hawood two balls of Shamar
Joseph's um eventual final balls of the
match I thought that if Hazelwood got
through those two balls I thought Smith
was going to try and do it in the next
over by himself I think he was probably
going to try and go 64 or or 66 I I I
had that feeling like he wasn't
interested in trying to get another
another entire spell um sorry through
another entire spell of Shamar Joseph
such was the speed and aggression that
he was bowling with it felt like there
was an event coming all the time now
that's obviously hyp um um elevated
because of the stakes of of the game at
the time but um I just felt like Smith
was not interested in just trying to get
through four balls and take a single and
drag it out for another eight eight or
nine overs I thought he was going to try
and do it the next over so I guess that
if if that is true which it of course
entirely might be 100% incorrect but if
it was true the skill of that final ball
that Joseph bows yeah it's it's it's to
Hazelwood that's getting out a lot of
left-handers in the world cuz it pitches
on off and just does enough and it
flicks the or doesn't flick [ __ ]
cannons into the very top of off stump I
mean that's just the most satisfying way
to win a game of cricket and the
Wheeling away I said last night I did
want cartwheels I wanted fireworks I got
them so I guess I'm happy in that regard
um and it saved test Cricket which is
just such great news that it's actually
saved the
game um I don't know I guess I'm saying
is it was [ __ ] good yeah it was good
but yeah Smith opening almost almost won
the game for Australia pezza uh what
does that mean I guess it's something
you know that will help us go to sleep
tonight you know was it was it was it
was some high numbers against the name
that we want he looked good he looked he
looked good Smith he looked good at at
the start of his Innings he was um
looked like he was walking out to the
German club there you know past Point uh
with every delivery like at the study
really tries to cover that off stunt but
who the [ __ ] am I to judg that uh he he
really looked he actually looked quite
untroubled by the bowling all game uh
sorry all all Innings which I think is
pretty um I I mean Shamar Joseph
actually nearly nicked him off uh like
with with one yeah like normally
normally when the set batsman is the uh
is the 10th Wicket is because they're
trying to um score bulk runs with all
the strike given they've got an absolute
[ __ ] um Bunny at the other end and uh
but I thought it would have been
appropriate if Shamar Joseph had just
absolutely like just [ __ ]
scratched Smith off or just got him just
nicking one squaring up uh just to
complete the domination of the day but
um apart from that Smith looked really
untroubled and and very uh in control at
the crease just uh couldn't I guess he
just couldn't steer it there with that
um with with the tactic that he took and
you know as you say I don't think too
many blocks are keeping out that ball
that Shamar Joseph bow to knock
Hazelwood over Ponting even um kind of
called it before that ball as well
surprise surprise but he he like he was
he was sort of saying that Shamar J was
bowling too fer Hazelwood who was
standing deep in his grease he's like
he's just got to pull the length back a
little bit uh and and bring a couple of
more modes into dismissal and it was
just it was [ __ ] great great delivery
well deserved and I like that he's taken
seven as well like seven is like oh
that'll that number will go against his
name you know for a very long time you
know if not forever and seven is like
you've you've had you've had a serious
day out there's there's no like you
can't you can't Jag seven wickets
uh so yeah just I just couldn't dips me
lid further Lids all over my face I tell
you what I know there's a lot of talk
about people in the Caribbean staying up
till 3:00 in the morning to watch this
and there'll be parties all night in in
in certain uh and a variety of bars in
the nation state that is the West Indies
um but I've got to tell you if you're
anywhere near the Story Bridge tonight
in Brisbane there is going to be some
sort of [ __ ] circuit I know it's a
Sunday after a long weekend but I'm I'm
telling you you're going to want to get
out there and have a look at it I I I'm
I just I can only say just send a couple
of texts out who you can really rely on
for a fun night out and I think those
kind of people are going to be wearing
these sort of glasses possibly into the
early hours of the morning possibly into
work the next day at a job that you most
definitely hate but I've got to tell you
if you're anywhere near the circuit in
Brisbane tonight I mean this is a once-
in a lifetime it's it's once in a
lifetime sort of stuff get in and around
it um it's been a it's been a wild
summer I I actually can't think of a
bigger upset again in my lifetime than
what has just happened given what we
were expecting from the West indings
having just lost by 10 wickets a week
ago um it's a completely weakened West
Indian side not just in a team sense but
just structurally at a board level and
they have just heroically won the game
by eight or nine runs or whatever it is
at the gabber at a place that needs to
be demolished as soon as possible
because that is going to be a haunted
haunted Olympic stadium for many years
to come pezza is there anything else you
want to say hey shout out to everyone
who's got behind us this test summer uh
obviously we're just um do not stop
recording we've got one in probably in a
couple of hours time if it does finish
today uh and uh and and we'll have heaps
of other [ __ ] as well uh and also if if
you're in New Zealand South Island chrys
in particular couple of tickets left to
a live show we're doing there but if you
got behind us this summer we brought the
podcast podcast out to the out from the
pay wall uh to everybody hope you've
enjoyed it
