Transcripts
Hi friends and welcome to a new video
today I'm bringing you with me to visit Paris
I didn't really have a specific plan
I kind of walked all over the place to see things I wanted to see
so, you'll see, it's a lot of walking, lots of different things. I hope you like it
The first thing you can do is wander through the passages couvertes [the Arcades]
which are in the 2nd and 9th arrondissements
In general, these small passages are filled with little stores and great little restaurants
They are very beautiful and it's worth it to just take a walk through them
Especially if you're in the area and it begins to rain, it's a great place to take cover
But you need to know where to find them because they're not very well marked
So here, I'll suggest four different ones to you that I did in one day
that have very different looks!
I was in the area, and I've never seen it before
I went to les Galeries Lafayette
So obviously, I'm not super into high-end department stores and all that
but the building is amazing and if you have the chance to go at Christmas
it's even better because they have their well-known huge Christmas tree
and the windows that are lit up and they really work hard to make them
and it's really cool
What I love doing in Paris is strolling
and losing myself in the streets
because I always find monuments and little hidden passages
parks
really cool things
that I would never have found otherwise
Here, for example, on my way I let myself wander to the Palais Royal
even though I didn't intend to go there
but I knew it would be pretty and I just wanted to take a look
Continuing my walk, I came across la Rue de Montorgueil
which I found really great because it's a pedestrian road
and full of little restaurants
and everyone goes to eat there for lunch
and since it wasn't so bad out today after all, it was busy
I came across a restaurant called "Life" which
which is more for athletes, but has lots of healthy options
also vegan and vegetarian options
And in fact, the owner is a guy that I met in the United States
even though it'd been awhile since we'd talked, I was happy to see
what he's doing here, so I wanted to mention it here
I met a friend for lunch at PH7 Equilibre
and the idea is super cool
because, actually, it's related to pH
Basically, your body can be more or less acidic or alkaline
and the menu is designed so that you can choose a meal that will help you make your body
more alkaline or acidic
based on what you want that day, you can adapt
I think it's really great
The servings were very generous
and very good, and despite the fact that there are a ton of vegetables
it was all seasoned in such a way that
it had a ton of flavor and was delicious
and obviously, we had to finish with a little vegan chocolate cake
It was to die for
Continuing my walk afterwards, I stumbled on
the Opéra Garnier, which is apparently magnificent
I didn't go in to see it that day, which I regret a little, so if you happen to pass by it
don't hesitate to go in because everyone recommended it to me afterwards
everyone gave me a hard time..."why didn't you go in?!"
On my way, I stumbled across a film shoot
which was for a TV series which apparently takes place in the 1800s
so, it was super cool
to see how everything was done and to see the costumes
which were really beautiful and very well made
Sometimes, when I stroll in Paris
I don't know where to look because there are so many things
so many monuments, so many things to see, to do
I could live for three years there and still not have seen and done everything
And then I don't just let myself walk in the streets
the architecture is super beautiful and like I said, you never know
what you're going to find
Next, I ended up on the famous Pont des Arts,
which no longer has its locks
I've been hearing for awhile now about how there were too many locks
and that it was becoming dangerous for the bridge
and so now they've put up plexiglas windows so that it's impossible to put on locks
and so everyone's leaving their locks on streetlamps
whatever they can do to continue to
celebrate their love
Next, I always like walking in the neighborhood around Saint-Germain-des-prés
it was on my way,
but it's really cool too
it has a different ambiance than the rest of Paris
lots of art galleries, it's very clean,
it's maybe a little more luxurious, if I can say that
it's another facet that's interesting to see
I love when the weather is nice in Paris
or in any city, really, because everyone goes out onto
the terraces, there's so much life
it makes it feel so different
and it's really nice when you're discovering a new city
In this area, I went to see the Saint-Sulpice church
which is rather plain inside, but still impressive
and is worth a tour
I don't really do a lot of church tours
but it doesn't take long usually
and it's always pretty to see
Getting lost, I stumbled across the Luxembourg Gardens
I crossed it to continue on my way
and found it very beautiful
the site by the late afternoon light was super pretty
When you stroll the roads, take advantage
to be really in the moment, just observe
and see everything that's going on around you
if there are little old shops
things that interest you, don't hold back
let yourself be guided...your intuition will know where to take you
you will find amazing new discoveries for sure
At this point in the day, I was starting to get really tired
so I decided to go rest awhile in the Jardin des Plantes
which wasn't far away at all
I was told to go see the greenhouses but it closes at 6pm so it was already too late
so I took a walk in the Alpine Garden
which was very cute, with lots of plants which, as usual
I don't know at all
It's in these gardens that I always realize how much
I don't know about nature
and that I really don't know many names of plants
that I probably couldn't grow most of the vegetables that I know
and really, this gap frustrates me a bit
because this is the foundation
and that I should really make an effort to learn
and spend more time in nature. I'm still not at the level of having
my own vegetable garden and all that, but clearly I see that in my future
Even the flowers, there is so much variety
it's crazy, I really don't know a lot of them
Walking around a city like Paris all day long
is really exhausting
but at the same time it's so worth it because there's so much to see
so much to do
Like I said, even several months wouldn't be enough,
so, take as much time as you can
to visit this city
and even more so, take the time to stop
to get lost, to wander
staying in the moment
and appreciate what is around you
to appreciate being in a city
as magnificent and historical as Paris
So there it is, friends, I hope you liked this video
that I helped you discover new places
many a little more off the beaten path in Paris
Don't hesitate if you have suggestions of things to see or visit
or do in the French capital, to put them in the comments
because I've only been here three or four times
I definitely don't know everything
So if we exchange, we'll have more ideas
In any case, I'm exhausted after this day, so see you soon
in the next video and in a new destination. Ciao!
