review so as promised um I did a planer

Wars but before we get started there are

a couple of things that I need to say

number one Cornell won the ucac

championship they're on to the NCA

tournament sorry had to number two um

more sort of

relevant is that the Rd T10 you can see

with a triple wi zoning cable on it is

officially being retired from

competition because

honestly it's just not fair it's just

not fair and to my friend who was asking

me about a a set for metal and your like

first ever I am I didn't recommend these

because I want you to have someplace to

go like that's why I was thinking more

along like the F1 Pro here or uh the

truth ear Nova or the ZK lvx

d41 like those sets do metal really well

just it leaves you a little bit of you

know you can go from one to the other

and have some differences or whatever I

just didn't want you to start with the r

because um I don't want to wreck it you

know it to wreck it for you because the

way that it's kind of wrecked things for

me in the best way possible um

so rd10 the F1 Pro from nice HCK 7 hers

Timeless the OG and also um the not

quite OG but still o um S12 Pro from

leure which was also tested on the zoney

cable and there's a really good reason

for that because this cable that comes

with it is a really nice cable like they

make really good cables let it has cable

uh to spare but it was pulling this

really severely aggressive uh ear hook

was actually pulling the IMs out of my

ears so I had to switch it and that was

kind of a good thing anyway because

honestly

like the more continuity you can have

when you're doing comp videos the better

off you're going to be sort of the more

accurate your results are going to be um

as accurate as they can be with a grand

total of 4 second uh auditory memory

that we all have

but that

aside the um tips were all the same uh

roughly so ASLA either set AIT uh X

elastics or the um Crystal tips so same

Bard width just slightly slightly

different

shape excuse me

um so that guy I got that as close as I

could possibly get it as well for this

little shind dig uh over the past few

days

um I did all of the test tracks all of

the musical genres that I had you know

which covers if you don't know already

classical jazz pop rock R&B hip

hop all kinds of metal um

Opera I leaving anybody out here did I

say alt Rock alt Rock uh EDM all of One

EDM track but at least it's a good one I

I think Chason status badon um I think

that's well you know it's probably kind

of lame actually I should probably get

some more ed EDM tracks going the other

thing I don't have any of um on my test

tracks is like K-pop so if anybody has

like a recommendation I know I'm not

going to like it and that's fine because

I've heard smid here and there I know of

the artist Cloud I don't know if she

qualifies as K-pop she's okay um

but if you have like a suggestion for me

to sort of like give me a couple of uh

groups that are a good representative of

kop that way I can put it on the test

track list and have a little bit rounder

you know more more broad of a selection

which I think is already fairly broad

can always get better right we can

always improve so um running through the

test tracks um you know doing a to B to

C to D to D to C to B B to a to you know

just trying to flip them around listen

to you know different tracks or the same

track with different sets and then

different tracks of the same set and you

know the whole thing I now know why

reviewers don't like to do comp videos

cuz they are pain in the ass let me tell

you um still fun I mean it's still

freaking fun who am I kidding but it is

it's kind of a pain in the ass to just

try to get something coherent to happen

um when you're doing it so um let's get

to the nitty-gritty uh as I indicated uh

a few minutes ago the rtt101 it hands

down that was that's your winner um it

just

presents everything I throw at it

extraordinarily well it has the most

like balanced and insanely good um

frequency response like from the lowest

to the highest frequencies I guess have

some coffee here getting a little

horse that probably won't help but it

helped me

um so yeah it just it it's it's a

unicorn it it shouldn't exist like it

I'm not sure it really does exist um but

it does those of you who have this set

know at least especially if it's like

hit for you the way it's hit for

me um you know those of you who don't

have the set don't want to believe that

a $70 set that's typically on sale for

50 or less could possibly approach tol

or endgame status I don't blame you I

don't but the only suggestion I have was

to pick one up and see for yourself and

try to go in with an open mind um

because that's what I try to do with all

of my reviews and just trying to let

things be what they are the art is

special the art

is retired with a perfect 45 and0

record took down everything that I have

everything

everything in one way or another um the

other consistencies were the DAC amps

that I used so F k11 fi Q3 I figured

stay in brand um you know a couple of

different price points semi well

portable

desktop chipset similar you know sound

signature fairly similar just wanted to

give you two you know different things

so if you're on the go you could use the

Q3 or if you're sitting here like I am

you can use the k11 they're pretty darn

similar

um so the winner was the rd10 kind of no

surprise there um and then there was a

well let's just let's go to the bottom

first so uh loser and still a really

really really good Set uh this was my

first set ever actually and the way that

it's tuned

I'm almost surprised that I didn't run

screaming from IMS because it is really

hot up top I mean it it's Airy and

sparkly and the good things along with

that trouble extension but it's also

like wow

intense so I guess um for whatever

reason I I'll chalk it up to the fact

that I was in the wine business for so

long that I was sort of used to

expecting the

unexpected um this would be like the

equivalent of the first wine that you

ever try is like a really dry really

acidic like finger leg stri

reeling and most likely you're going to

be like what the [ __ ] is that but and

that's kind of what this is reminds me

of you know like something from Austria

or the fingerlakes or alasce like it's

racy it's Zippy it's you know all those

things so even though even though it

lost and came in last out of the four I

still don't have a problem recommending

it I I do think that because two of the

sets that kind of crushed it are a lot

less expensive that I would not

recommend buying this unless you get it

on like super sale like get it down to

if it ever gets down to around a 100

bucks it's not a bad set to have 120

maybe um um not a bad set to have if you

like the sparkle in the air and don't

mind you know if you can stand the heat

in the kitchen then that's still it's

still a recommendable set you know it

just

didn't just just couldn't compete with

the newer gen and you know the Timeless

the Timeless because the Timeless is

timeless that's the one we'll talk about

next um 7 Herz Timeless I think you know

that it's somewhat legendary because it

did sort of reset the market for PL plan

ours 2 and a half or three years ago I

think it was two and a half years

ago being that it was actually

good um and that it was actually

approachable price-wise around 200 bucks

like people you know were like wow the

planer magnetic IM driver can actually

sound good and not be super expensive to

get that sound um so it has like it has

that legendary sort of Hall of Fame

status

and it really competed well with the

nice HK nice HCK F1 Pro like really well

like it was neck and neck there for like

pretty much the whole time until we got

to the base so both sets are extremely

good in the trouble and fairly smooth

not super spicy uh both sets have very

clean clear mids for vocals and like

acoustic guitars things like that both

sets have excellent like you know going

back up upper mids lower mids like

through that range they were kind of

just neck and neck but when it came to

the base the F1

Pro just left it behind just left the

Timeless in the dust and it's probably a

function of well that's the tuning that

we like you know we like our pizza and

our Coca-Cola and you know things that

are kind of

very meaty like you know sorry if you're

a vegetarian very just full and

satisfying and that's where the base is

on the F1 Pro and it's just a shade

behind on the Timeless and like I said I

think that's the function of the New Gen

uh 14.2 MIM cuz they're both 14.2 in

fact the 's 14.2 mm the only one that

isn't is the um S12 Pro and that's 14.8

and it didn't really help it in the low

end unfortunately even though you'd

think it would but it

didn't didn't help with the balance on

that set um so yeah I mean if if

I didn't like bass as much as I do and

again please keep in mind this is my

opinion it may not line up with your

preferences if you like little less Bas

and a little bit oh I'm not even going

to say say more cuz they're about equal

in the trouble and and in the uh

mid-range but if you like a little less

base and don't mind paying a little bit

more money the Timeless could suit you

um I

think it's again it's the price thing

right like it's still a relevant set

it's still excellent it still is just

very Dynamic it's very detailed it's

very crisp and clear and everything you

think a good plan R should be it is

it's just more expensive than things

that are equally as good if not even

slightly better or more basy if you will

um that's the problem so you know 170 on

sale to to me even though you get this

beautiful magnetically sealed metal case

you get a really nice cable it's

terminates in 3.5 it's in the box so I

didn't bring it out but it is a nice

cable um you know plethora of ear tips

like just really nice

accessories even still even still I

think that 170 is just too expensive for

this set

now back then 200 170 on sale two and a

half years ago I could see why people

absolutely love this set I get

it it's

just not keeping up with the uh the new

kids so what do we call this we call

this um benchmarks versus upstarts

another Benchmark goes

down sorry Timeless I think maybe your

time is

up I don't know this ever gets down to

below 150 I might think about picking up

a set just to have it this was UN loan

from my friend

um yeah I mean it's worth considering

but it's got to be under 150 for that in

my opinion

so that uh settles that so um now we're

down to the F1 Pro and if my friend from

this morning is still watching this this

was one of my top recommends for your

metal

um metal heads don't like people that

are not metal heads don't understand

that metal is not just one thing it's a

ton of subg genres so

and I'm not going to go through all of

them because I don't even know the names

of some of them but you know bands that

are considered metal you know they range

from like muga and Slaughter to Prevail

and

seila and death and you know like that

kind of metal which is still there even

differences in those and then you've got

bands like

Mastadon tulle which is its own thing

completely like that is a genre um and

then you've got some of the old school

medal and I wanted to say thank you to

this person for reintroducing me to

operation mine crime by Queens Reich

that album is freaking stellar and it

has been remastered in

24192 and it sounds freaking phenomenal

and it sounded freaking phenomenal on

the F1 Pro um just so you know the F1

Pro performed as well as any IM that

I've got in my possession not better

than but in most respects and I don't

really think that it necessarily has a

limitation I think it's a great

all-arounder and that's why it kind of

beat the Timeless because for things

like metal and hipop it just has more

guts to the base so coming in second

place the F1

Pro really really well done excellent

planr for 100

bucks not one complaint

literally and that's

that so order rd10 the Unicorn number

one number two the F1 Pro almost as good

as the Rd but not quite you heard him

side by side you know what I mean but

really really good number two number

three the OG Timeless still a fantastic

set just too pricey for 170 bucks at the

moment just the way things are going

they're probably going to have to

drastically reduce that price if they

want to sell through what they've got

left that would be my recommendation

because then I could buy one and not

feel bad about it and then last is the

F12 S12 Pro from leure and and it just

it's it's

just yeah it's over for that set it

doesn't really have um anything

redeeming about it at this point it's

still a really good set it's just really

really spicy up top and and I think that

it takes away

from what could be like still a very

relevant set but that earlier tuning the

reason that people didn't really warm up

to plan RS no pun intended um was

because they were hot and spicy up top

and some people like that but a lot of

people don't and that's what the S12 Pro

is so I get it it's kind of gone like

kind of

over um yeah so that's about where it's

at uh I had a bunch of notes and then it

fell behind my

desk as you can

see um I'm not taking my uh Jenga box

collection down to get some stupid notes

that I wrote down so I think I covered

everything not 100% sure but I think I

did this is going to be the last comp

video I do for a while because it's

exhausting in its own

way um but I hope you enjoyed it and I
