-The speaker first started learning Kabbalah and magic as a student, when they were more interested in these subjects than in their assigned studies. They read many different books, gradually accumulating an understanding over time.

  • What are the three versions of Kabbalah mentioned in the transcript?

-The three versions of Kabbalah mentioned are: Kabbalah with a 'q' which is the Western magical tradition, Kabbalah with a 'k' which is the Jewish Kabbalah, and Christian Kabbalah which is an early Christian interpretation.

  • Why does the general population in Israel often regard mystical Kabbalists as fringe figures?

-In Israel, mystical Kabbalists are often seen as fringe figures or 'nut cases' because their practices and beliefs are not aligned with the mainstream views within the society and do not carry high status.

  • How does the speaker describe the evolution of the Tarot deck?

-The Tarot deck evolved from a collection of different elements, likely through games and methods of communication involving symbols and storytelling. Over time, it started to become a visual documentation of symbols, drawing on archetypes, and eventually solidified as a system that could be attributed to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.

  • What is the significance of the Tree of Life or the Sefirot in Kabbalistic tradition?

Highlights

The complexity of Kabbalah makes it difficult to find a starting point for learning, as it encompasses a vast array of facets, features, dimensions, and applications.

The speaker's initial foray into Kabbalah and magic was through reading various books, leading to a gradual accumulation of understanding over time.

The internet has made it easier to access information on Kabbalah, with numerous groups, forums, and YouTube videos available for learning.

Kabbalah has three main versions: Western magical tradition (Qabala), Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah with a K), and early Christian interpretation (Cabala).

Jewish Kabbalists look for hidden meanings in the first five books of the Bible, while Western occultists use it as a system for organizing experience and archetypes.

The general population in Israel often views mystical Kabbalists as fringe figures, not granting them high status in society.

Many mystics and Kabbalists may be considered 'nuts' due to the attraction of eccentric individuals to mystical studies.

Christian Kabbalah is influenced by Gnostic traditions, which were at variance with the early Christian Church's doctrines.

The Western magical revival in the 1900s saw the adoption of Kabbalistic elements into Freemasonry and the creation of the Western Cabalist tradition.

The Tree of Life, or Sefirot, is a model used in Kabbalah that represents objective external aspects, with paths representing subjectivity.

The Tarot deck's evolution is separate from Kabbalah, but over time it became a visual documentation of symbols, much like Kabbalistic traditions.

The Tarot deck has 78 cards, with a structure that can be associated with the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, as noted by Eliphas Levi.

The Tarot deck and Kabbalah share a recursive relationship, with each influencing the other in terms of symbolism and representation.

The attribution of Tarot cards to the paths and sephiroth in Kabbalah is a Western magical concept, not found in Jewish or Christian Kabbalah.

The Moon card in Tarot is associated with the path connecting the manifest world to creativity, symbolizing intuition and the potential for superstition.

The Tower card represents the loss of the false self through an external force, leading to liberation and personal growth.

Archetypes are ineffable and beyond language; god forms in spiritual texts are lower-level symbolism of archetypes.

The speaker emphasizes not using Tarot for fortune-telling, considering it a misuse of the cards' deeper symbolic meanings.

Transcripts

play00:00

one of the biggest problems about trying

play00:02

to talk about kabbalah

play00:05

at all things kabbalistic there is no

play00:07

good place to start if you're trying to

play00:09

learn this material

play00:10

if i'm trying to teach the material

play00:12

wherever you begin

play00:14

it always presupposes and assumes you

play00:16

know something else

play00:18

there is no good place to to begin to

play00:20

learn something

play00:21

because it's such a complex set of

play00:24

material there are so many

play00:26

facets features dimensions applications

play00:28

and different variations

play00:30

on the model wherever you begin it's

play00:32

hopeless

play00:33

so when i when i first started learning

play00:36

this stuff i

play00:37

bought i was a student and i wasn't

play00:39

really interested in the stuff i was

play00:40

supposed to be studying so i was

play00:41

learning kabbalah and magic that was my

play00:43

entry into all this stuff i was reading

play00:46

lots of different books

play00:47

understanding very little of them

play00:49

however with as

play00:51

i read more things there would be things

play00:53

i would read in this book

play00:54

that would explain a little bit about

play00:55

something in a previous book think oh

play00:57

now i understand what that means

play00:58

and so over a while the

play01:01

you sort of accumulate an understanding

play01:03

and knowledge of it

play01:04

unfortunately these days there is the

play01:06

internet lots and lots of groups and

play01:08

forums online

play01:09

and lots of youtube videos and other

play01:11

forums as well i'm sure are available

play01:14

which makes it a lot easier to begin to

play01:16

learn what all this stuff is and what's

play01:18

about

play01:19

so in this particular video i want to

play01:22

give really a very

play01:23

loose introduction into tarot

play01:26

why i what what i do with tarot what

play01:29

what it means to me

play01:31

why it's so important blah blah blah and

play01:33

hopefully dispel

play01:34

a few myths that i think some of you may

play01:37

well have

play01:38

i started out with taro and kabala and

play01:41

there are three

play01:42

versions of kabbalah there's kabala with

play01:46

a q this is the western magical

play01:50

tradition

play01:51

which basically pretends to be rooted in

play01:53

the jewish kabbalah

play01:55

which is kabbalah with a k and then you

play01:57

also have the cr

play01:58

early christian interpretation of

play02:01

kabbalah which is kabbalah with the sea

play02:03

they are three very very different

play02:05

applications

play02:06

one of the things the kabbalist the

play02:08

judaic capitalists are doing

play02:10

is they're looking at the first five

play02:11

books of the

play02:13

the bible so the old testament and

play02:16

looking at

play02:16

hidden passages hidden meanings and

play02:18

symbolic representation within that

play02:21

there is a large amount of that within

play02:22

the western capitalist

play02:24

metabolistic tradition but nothing to

play02:27

the degree

play02:27

of that the jews will be doing with this

play02:30

now if you go to israel

play02:32

um which is obviously the jewish

play02:34

homeland where you'll find an awful lot

play02:36

of

play02:36

jewish capitalists the general

play02:38

population regards

play02:39

the mystical jews the mystical cabinets

play02:42

out there

play02:43

as nut cases it's not something that

play02:46

carries a particular high

play02:48

status within within society they are

play02:50

very much a fringe very much

play02:52

the um yeah the nutters of the community

play02:56

now within within your days now you're

play02:58

going to find an awful lot of mysticism

play02:59

and

play02:59

a lot of mystical capitalists who are

play03:01

worth paying attention to

play03:02

my own experience of finding various

play03:05

teachers over the years is that most of

play03:06

them are nuts

play03:08

much like you'll find in any of the

play03:10

western magical groups or magical lodges

play03:13

and organizations

play03:14

i've been a member of a variety of

play03:16

different groups and still am a member

play03:18

of a number of groups

play03:19

and it there is an attraction to

play03:22

the crazy element so

play03:25

in the backdrop to studying kabbalah you

play03:28

have to bear in mind

play03:30

there is a lot of nutters they get

play03:31

attracted to it and so

play03:33

not everything that you find will be

play03:35

authoritative and make any sense because

play03:37

it is really little more than psychosis

play03:40

but it's psychosis shared by other

play03:41

people it's fantasy type stuff

play03:44

now within the christian kabbalah you're

play03:46

going to find a lot of stuff coming out

play03:47

of the gnostic tradition that's

play03:49

gnognostic and if you're unfamiliar with

play03:52

gnosticism

play03:53

it's something i think is worth studying

play03:56

gnosticism isn't a

play03:57

thing it's a label placed upon a

play04:00

category

play04:01

of early christian literature which was

play04:05

essentially at variance with what the

play04:07

early

play04:08

christian church was attempting to

play04:11

establish because you have to bear in

play04:12

mind at some point

play04:13

everyone everyone following that

play04:15

tradition was jewish and then

play04:17

people adopted these these doctrines and

play04:19

then those doctrines had to be

play04:20

formalized

play04:21

because in the early days there was lots

play04:22

of disparity worldwide as to

play04:24

what people call themselves christians

play04:26

what they were actually doing

play04:28

and so the early really the council of

play04:30

nicaea

play04:31

was one of the first things to actually

play04:32

form around about the 300

play04:34

324 325 was their first meeting to try

play04:38

and formalize what the doctrines would

play04:39

be

play04:40

now the christians who refused all that

play04:43

stuff and we're looking at other

play04:45

things largely mystically inspired

play04:48

through a lot of capitalistic

play04:49

notions not just capitalistic nations

play04:51

there are others too

play04:53

their stuff is regarded as gnostic but

play04:55

to think of

play04:56

the gnostics as a particular sexual

play04:58

group is a mistake that's not not what

play05:00

they were

play05:02

now scroll forward a lot of years to

play05:05

the 1900s and in the 1900s

play05:08

there was a magical revival where

play05:11

western

play05:12

interpretation of kabbalah

play05:15

largely occurring through characters

play05:17

like eliphas levi who was actually

play05:18

catholic

play05:19

a devout catholic in fact and

play05:23

freemasonry starts to adopt an awful lot

play05:26

of

play05:27

the the the jewish kabbalah and the

play05:29

christian kabbalah

play05:31

starts to apply magical interpretation

play05:33

on it

play05:34

following western magical traditions

play05:37

reviving some of the medieval

play05:40

medieval practices as well and the next

play05:42

thing you know we have the western

play05:44

cavalier and that had been evolving for

play05:45

quite a long time prior to the

play05:48

to the 19th century so a little bit

play05:51

that's a little bit of the history so

play05:52

it's hugely convoluted there's lots of

play05:54

traditions lots of threads

play05:56

so if you read two books on kabala and

play05:58

they don't seem to be talking about the

play05:59

same thing

play06:00

that could be why um and if people want

play06:03

any

play06:03

books or recommendations i can just

play06:05

leave it in the comment section i'll

play06:06

answer

play06:07

any questions you have i can make

play06:08

recommendations there

play06:10

there are so many recommendations i

play06:12

would give it all depends on what is it

play06:14

you would want to get out of it

play06:16

what would be your purpose what is it

play06:17

you want to learn what we have here

play06:20

is the um the what is known as the tree

play06:23

of life or the cepha sephiroth

play06:25

and essentially just to give the the

play06:27

some of the wording we've got these

play06:29

these circles here

play06:30

they are sephirah sapphira and then we

play06:33

have the straight lines in between them

play06:35

and these are

play06:35

paths these are the paths that connect

play06:38

the sapphire or the settleroth

play06:40

there's 10 sapphira 22 paths

play06:44

there are variations in capitalistic

play06:47

tradition this is the one that i use

play06:49

i'm not going to go into all the

play06:51

variations because what's the point

play06:52

um find one pick it stick with it and

play06:55

find the one you like

play06:55

stay with that one but there are so

play06:57

there are variations

play06:59

now here is how this is generally

play07:01

regarded

play07:02

the sapphira are representative of

play07:05

objective external hardcore

play07:08

stuff so it's objectivity the

play07:12

paths connecting them are subjectivity

play07:15

and what we can do is use this for one

play07:18

of a better term

play07:19

as a system of organization or as

play07:21

alistair crowley refer to it

play07:23

a filing cabinet in which to start using

play07:25

these as categories

play07:27

to start organizing experience and

play07:29

organizing archetypes

play07:31

and for me as a therapist and someone

play07:34

who works with metaphor

play07:35

someone who has a background a longer

play07:37

background in magic

play07:38

and kabbalah than i do in therapy

play07:41

it's also a very very useful way of

play07:43

sorting out

play07:45

concepts as well and i want to just give

play07:47

a little introduction

play07:48

into how that happens now one of the

play07:51

things

play07:51

we also have with the evolution of

play07:54

the kabbalistic traditions you also had

play07:58

the evolution development of the tarot

play08:00

deck

play08:01

now the tarot deck didn't start off as a

play08:03

singular thing this was a collection of

play08:05

different stuff probably through

play08:06

games and through ways of communicating

play08:09

symbols

play08:10

and storytelling that kind of stuff and

play08:13

that was a separate tradition to kabala

play08:17

the tarot deck has 78 cards

play08:20

22 trumps 10 court cards

play08:24

and 16 um

play08:27

what we call they're the court cards

play08:30

let me start that again it has 22 trumps

play08:34

10 um numbered cards of which there's

play08:37

four suits there's 40 of those

play08:38

and 16 court cards which are king queen

play08:42

and so on they're very similar to the um

play08:45

the playing cards deck it just has extra

play08:47

cards in it

play08:49

very different tradition to this however

play08:52

they start to develop over time within

play08:55

storytelling and symbolism

play08:57

and and largely drawing on archetypes

play09:00

the tarot deck starts to become

play09:03

a visual documentation of of symbols

play09:07

much like kabala did now anything that

play09:11

is

play09:12

attended to by multitudes of people over

play09:15

long periods of time tend to take on an

play09:18

archetypal nature

play09:19

let me just give you an easy example

play09:21

it's what i always use so forgive me if

play09:22

you've heard this before

play09:24

look at what's happening with christmas

play09:26

and the christmas story

play09:28

so christmas within within the western

play09:30

tradition is largely two things that

play09:32

have collided together

play09:34

we have the ancient pagan traditions

play09:36

which are occurring around about the the

play09:38

winter time

play09:39

and then impose upon that with christian

play09:42

dominance

play09:42

in the west we then they then put in

play09:44

okay this is where we're gonna have

play09:45

christ mass

play09:46

so the birth of christ gets imposed on

play09:48

it today what we have are traditions

play09:50

that are drawn both from the pagan roots

play09:52

but also from the christian imposition

play09:53

upon that

play09:54

but no one really cares no one really

play09:56

cares about those things

play09:58

it's just something that's from our

play10:00

childhood we like to recreate

play10:01

and people you mustn't cancel christmas

play10:03

like this year

play10:04

the cancelling of christmas was such a

play10:06

political thing

play10:07

the big event is the central thing in

play10:10

our in our calendar

play10:12

now over time it started to change so

play10:15

santa claus

play10:16

starts to emerge and that comes again

play10:17

that's the number of you have saint

play10:19

nicholas

play10:20

uh saint nicholas and santa claus very

play10:22

similar you have the

play10:24

traditions from from scandinavia from

play10:26

germany traditions from other parts of

play10:28

europe

play10:28

that start to coalesce to become santa

play10:31

claus

play10:32

and you have the green man if you have a

play10:35

look at

play10:35

typing santa claus green man you'll see

play10:37

santa claus used to be green

play10:39

and because it comes from the green man

play10:41

tradition as well as saint nicholas and

play10:43

other

play10:43

things that start to coalesce into a

play10:45

single entity

play10:46

and then around about the early 1900s

play10:48

advertising gets in

play10:50

and santa claus then becomes red and

play10:53

coca-cola probably a huge influence on

play10:55

that

play10:55

it's not the only influence but a huge

play10:57

influence now

play10:58

so we now have santa claus but he's not

play11:01

the same as father christmas

play11:03

you see father christmas there's only

play11:04

one but santa claus is everywhere

play11:07

and so you have these weird things and

play11:09

we we also have

play11:10

the invocation of christmas we're

play11:12

creating the spirit of christmas

play11:14

so we have the holy trinity we have

play11:15

father christmas santa claus and the

play11:17

spirit of christmas

play11:19

and if you do the rituals right it feels

play11:21

like christmas you have

play11:22

the christmas spirit has descended and

play11:25

so we have this recreation of

play11:26

another archetype from elsewhere but it

play11:29

starts to get more interesting

play11:30

because then along the lines a song gets

play11:33

made i think this was

play11:34

in the late 1800s where in a song

play11:37

santa claus is referenced to coming from

play11:41

the north pole

play11:42

and that wasn't thought of before then

play11:44

so now we have the north pole narrative

play11:46

now within that reindeer start to get

play11:48

added in

play11:49

and then the reindeer get named and then

play11:52

the stories are attributed to those

play11:54

reindeer

play11:55

and we have rudolph the red-nosed

play11:57

reindeer

play11:59

and then we have all the other things

play12:00

that happen so now the story starts to

play12:02

get embellished and becomes quite

play12:04

creative and starts to expand and

play12:06

develop

play12:07

but it's not solidified yet because

play12:09

there are still elements being added the

play12:11

americans in recent years have added in

play12:13

the grinch you have a variation going

play12:15

back years

play12:16

in germany and i can't even pronounce it

play12:19

but it's the

play12:19

the demon of christmas so you have lots

play12:22

of elements that are beginning to get

play12:24

added in

play12:25

and become involved in the story

play12:28

the story has not solidified it is still

play12:31

being adjusted and corrected over time

play12:33

now 100 200 years from now it may well

play12:37

be solidified it may take more

play12:38

generations than that

play12:40

kabbalah has it has been the same thing

play12:43

it has evolved

play12:45

and become tweaked here and there and

play12:47

adjusted here and there

play12:48

the tarot deck was undergoing the same

play12:51

process and eventually it began to

play12:53

solidify

play12:58

because both take on an archetypal

play13:00

nature because that's what tends to

play13:01

happen

play13:02

archetypes emerge when the group mind

play13:05

work and work and work on something

play13:06

over long periods of time it starts to

play13:08

become archetypal

play13:09

because archetypes are things that are

play13:11

true to all people

play13:13

they start to take on very strong

play13:15

similarities and it was elephants levi

play13:17

who was the first person to note what to

play13:19

make the attribution at least publicly

play13:21

make the attribution there's 22

play13:23

paths and 22 trumps

play13:26

so we can attribute a trump tarot card

play13:29

to each of these paths

play13:32

there are 10 numbered cards of four

play13:34

suits

play13:36

oh we've got 10 numbers here so we can

play13:38

attribute the numbers to these things

play13:40

now within kabala there are what's

play13:42

called the four

play13:43

worlds uh we only see in

play13:46

in two dimensions but actually you would

play13:48

see four of these

play13:50

stacked on top of each other for one of

play13:51

a better description so we have the four

play13:53

well so there's your four suits

play13:55

your 10 numbers your 22 22 trump cards

play13:59

and then we have the 16 court cards

play14:02

which are a little bit inconvenient for

play14:03

the system

play14:04

but they still fit in here actually

play14:06

quite well as well

play14:08

so around about the mid-1800s levi was

play14:11

the first person to start publishing

play14:12

that actually these things are the same

play14:14

then along in the early 1900s you have

play14:16

the golden dawn

play14:17

and they then formalize the system which

play14:19

then gets adjusted later on

play14:21

so now what we have is this as a useful

play14:25

representation of tarot symbolism

play14:28

and tarot symbolism as a useful

play14:29

representation of this there's a

play14:31

recursive relationship between the two

play14:33

but this is a western imposed tradition

play14:36

you won't find this in the christian

play14:38

kabbalah you won't find this in the

play14:39

jewish kebab this is entirely

play14:42

created invented western magical concept

play14:46

that is borrowing a lot of stuff from

play14:48

from judaism

play14:50

so now let's just go through what some

play14:52

of these sapphira mean

play14:54

and and where the tarot would fit in

play14:56

here so down here

play14:58

this is melcooth forgive me

play15:01

if you're a native hebrew speaker much

play15:04

like every other person i've ever met in

play15:06

the magical tradition who is not

play15:08

jewish or a native hebrew speaker

play15:11

none of us pronounce any of it right but

play15:13

we just copy what everyone else says

play15:15

and that seems to be the way so what we

play15:17

end up with as being hebrew

play15:18

in no way would be recognized in israel

play15:20

i can be fairly sure of that

play15:22

so down here is malcooth and this is

play15:24

this basically is interpreted as

play15:26

kingdom this is the world of

play15:28

manifestation this is the

play15:30

physical world everything you can see

play15:33

and touch

play15:34

it gets misattributed as being the

play15:35

planet earth because it's planetary

play15:37

attributions up here

play15:38

but it's not the planet earth it is the

play15:40

physical body of the universe

play15:42

so the the manifest universe is down

play15:44

here

play15:47

this is the lunar sphere yeast salt and

play15:49

this is very much uh the eso means

play15:51

foundation

play15:52

and in yeast this is the luna sphere

play15:55

the moon is is an archetypal symbol

play15:58

and the way to picture this is moonlight

play16:01

reflected off still water

play16:03

and it is the the archetypal symbol for

play16:05

the unconscious the subconscious

play16:07

for dreams all stuff that's below the

play16:09

surface

play16:11

the moon doesn't produce its own light

play16:13

it reflects that of the sun

play16:15

and so the moon reflecting light onto

play16:18

the pool of water and of course what's

play16:20

unhappening

play16:20

under the water is is representative of

play16:24

subconscious stuff

play16:25

so this is very much representative of

play16:27

all those things

play16:28

so this is my physical body the physical

play16:30

world this is the

play16:31

subconscious mind hard

play16:35

over here which actually translates as

play16:36

splendor

play16:38

is generally regarded as the sphere of

play16:40

the intellect

play16:41

it is where intelligence is attributed

play16:44

it is where

play16:45

the sciences uh the world of medicine

play16:48

the world of magic

play16:50

that kind of stuff but more specifically

play16:53

it's not intelligence as in what you

play16:55

know

play16:56

it is the will to intellect the best

play16:58

description here is

play16:59

this isn't the library it's the decision

play17:02

to go to the library in order to learn

play17:05

that's what hard is representative of

play17:08

over here we have netzer which means

play17:12

victory or triumph is sometimes

play17:15

interpreted as

play17:16

now nets over here is much more about

play17:18

the creative stuff

play17:20

hot is representative of the planet

play17:23

mercury the moon is yeast

play17:26

but over here it's venus and so venus is

play17:30

much more the creative

play17:34

artistic side of stuff intellect

play17:37

creativity left brain right brain these

play17:41

are ways you can

play17:41

categorize this and if we just come up

play17:44

to here we have tephrath

play17:46

which translates as beauty which is the

play17:48

sphere of the sun

play17:50

and sun is representative of

play17:52

consciousness itself

play17:53

of manifestation of life that kind of

play17:56

thing

play17:58

then above here we have gabora which is

play18:00

generally is strength this is all the

play18:03

martial stuff guess what

play18:04

it's mars is attributed to here

play18:06

planetary and so this is representative

play18:08

of all of the

play18:09

male martial archetypes and

play18:12

force strength might war anger

play18:16

rage vengeance all those kind of things

play18:19

and hess said over here this is where

play18:21

hasidic jews come from it's the from

play18:23

hassan hessed

play18:25

this is very much of jupiter and this

play18:27

basically means love of

play18:28

loving kindness this is the this is

play18:31

mercy

play18:32

over here so this is the ability to

play18:35

to strike this is the ability to forgive

play18:39

and then we get into much more

play18:40

archetypal stuff here which is this is

play18:42

the archetypal father

play18:44

this is the archetypal mother and then

play18:46

that's the combination of the two

play18:47

going right up into into divinity so all

play18:50

well and good so far

play18:52

now we can attribute everything as

play18:54

martial to this

play18:55

this one here attribute everything

play18:57

that's about loving kindness and

play18:58

forgiveness into this one here

play19:00

and so on so we make attributions the

play19:03

paths between the two

play19:04

are very representative of tarot

play19:07

symbolism tarot trumps

play19:09

and i'm just going to give you a few

play19:12

there's no point trying to teach the

play19:13

whole thing

play19:14

because i say this is an enormous

play19:16

subject because then we have to go into

play19:18

what is an archetype

play19:19

and why are they even important and why

play19:21

are they

play19:22

organized that way and we would be here

play19:23

for a very very long time and that's not

play19:25

really what i want to do for this video

play19:28

but let me just come into this this path

play19:31

here

play19:32

so this is the 29th path it's attributed

play19:34

to a hebrew letter because guess what

play19:36

there's 22 hebrew letters

play19:38

which also match to each of these paths

play19:41

that is from the jewish kabbalah

play19:42

but also matched to the tarot trumps

play19:45

so a tarot trump as well as being

play19:48

representative of a path

play19:50

is also representative of a hebrew

play19:51

letter the hebrew letter is what

play19:54

comprises

play19:54

obviously letters comprise a word and so

play19:57

the jew

play19:58

the jewish cabalists are looking at

play20:00

words

play20:01

to break down their mystical construct

play20:05

because god created the universe

play20:08

through speaking it and so we can

play20:10

actually start to interpret

play20:12

effectively the divine will by the

play20:14

interpretation of the symbols and so

play20:16

forth through the hebrew letters

play20:19

at this point i just need to emphasize a

play20:21

few points

play20:22

so do i believe in god do i believe

play20:26

in tarot no believe forget anything to

play20:30

do with belief

play20:31

here is one of the problems that tara

play20:33

has because

play20:35

of what it is just like everything else

play20:38

it gets jumped there's a bandwagon gets

play20:40

jumped on by large numbers of people

play20:42

who then don't really understand what

play20:44

they're doing but they understand a

play20:45

little bit and then jump on it so tarot

play20:47

now is for fortune telling it's for

play20:48

divination it's for

play20:49

reading the future really and you know

play20:52

what

play20:52

i have to deal with that a lot which is

play20:54

why i so rarely reference

play20:57

tarot because the moment i do people oh

play20:59

yeah i've got the tarot cards oh i do

play21:01

tarot readings oh dear god please go

play21:04

away

play21:05

and there's no point in me even

play21:06

attempting to communicate anything

play21:08

deeper with that person

play21:10

it's just like when people use astrology

play21:12

for divination and fortune telling

play21:14

here's the deal just one label the point

play21:17

here

play21:18

covered 19 did anybody any astrologer

play21:21

psychic

play21:22

medium tarot reader in fact anybody

play21:25

predict it

play21:26

nope just like every other major world

play21:28

event

play21:29

now given the sheer body of predictive

play21:31

literature if you

play21:32

sift through all of it you're gonna find

play21:35

one that matches

play21:36

but you know and it's like it's true

play21:38

it's true that person predicted it

play21:40

really

play21:41

what about the thousands and thousands

play21:43

and thousands of other predictions they

play21:44

made they're absolutely bogus

play21:46

just like everything else so i don't

play21:48

give any validity to any of that

play21:51

the majority of tarot decks that are

play21:53

produced are

play21:54

lovely they're lovely works of art don't

play21:56

deny that but they have

play21:58

no reference to the archetypes

play22:00

whatsoever they have

play22:02

no validity as far as archetypal tarot

play22:05

symbolism

play22:06

or kabbalistic symbolism goes there are

play22:08

very very few decks that do

play22:10

the the vast majority of them are just

play22:13

people

play22:13

making pretty art and calling it tarot

play22:17

when it's not at all

play22:18

for me this is just like if you read nlp

play22:21

for dummies

play22:22

i'm i was astonished that that book got

play22:24

past the publishing review

play22:26

because there's nothing in that book

play22:28

that i recognize as being nlp

play22:30

and i do wonder about the authors of

play22:32

that book and the the people that

play22:33

published it

play22:34

if they ever actually attended a real

play22:36

nlp training

play22:37

but you know what they probably did

play22:39

attend trainings that were called nlp

play22:41

trainings

play22:42

they just didn't know what they were

play22:44

being taught wasn't nlp

play22:46

and there's so much of that in every

play22:49

field that doesn't have an objective

play22:51

measurement to it

play22:52

so you're looking at chemistry science

play22:54

physics there's objectivity it can be

play22:56

measured against

play22:57

the moment we're in some worlds of

play22:58

subjectivity it's very very hard

play23:01

to have any form of quality control and

play23:03

so therein lies the difficulty

play23:05

now the reason why so rarely publicly

play23:08

talk about these kind of things

play23:09

is because it drives me insane that the

play23:11

vast majority of people

play23:12

will immediately go so can you tell the

play23:15

future can you make predictions can you

play23:19

i've been involved a lot over the years

play23:21

with alchemy as well

play23:22

and everyone whatever i mean i never

play23:25

this is what i never mentioned publicly

play23:27

um apart from now really because the

play23:29

moment i say well i

play23:30

i i'm an alchemist if i were to label

play23:34

myself in that way oh you're trying to

play23:35

turn lead into gold

play23:38

because throughout the years of alchemy

play23:40

being an operating philosophy

play23:42

the charlatans jump in there and will be

play23:44

selling

play23:45

the lead into gold philosophy selling

play23:47

the courses

play23:48

it's no different to the stakeholder

play23:50

salesman today selling nlp hypnotherapy

play23:52

personal development to coaching

play23:54

it's not the what we're seeing today in

play23:55

terms of the basketization

play23:57

of the concept has always happened and

play24:00

then people learn those things they

play24:03

think that's what it is

play24:04

write books on it other people learn

play24:06

those things write more books on it they

play24:07

reference each other quote each other

play24:09

and now there's this massive body of

play24:10

knowledge and literature that's entirely

play24:13

bogus and no one realizes

play24:16

and this is so

play24:19

such a problem for anyone who wishes to

play24:21

be taken seriously with tara kabala and

play24:22

that kind of stuff

play24:24

and so it's not it is a problem and so i

play24:26

can't i can't deny that

play24:30

so let's just have a look we just do two

play24:33

cards for this particular video

play24:35

let's keep it brief the moon is the card

play24:38

that's attributed

play24:39

um to the moon trump card so this path

play24:42

here that connects malcoth which is

play24:44

kingdom the manifest world

play24:45

to that of creativity now the moon

play24:48

the moon symbolism i won't go into that

play24:51

symbolism but i'll just describe it to

play24:52

you

play24:53

it is typically there are two two

play24:56

pillars two hills two towers

play24:58

two cons to upright things or some

play25:00

description

play25:01

there is water there is a valley between

play25:04

the two things

play25:05

there is a dog and a wolf so a tamed dog

play25:09

and a wild dog wolf and they are howling

play25:12

at the moon

play25:13

and there's usually a crab or lobster

play25:17

type imagery at the base of the card

play25:20

now these go very much into astrological

play25:23

and an ancient metaphor

play25:24

and into archetypes now the moon

play25:27

card as a path is not the same as the

play25:30

planetary attribution of the moon

play25:32

that's attributed to eso these are

play25:34

slightly different variations on the

play25:35

concept

play25:37

now if we were to do an initiation if i

play25:40

were to create an experience of the path

play25:43

of the moon of what this card

play25:46

represents of what it symbolizes we

play25:49

could go

play25:49

through a lengthy analysis of all of the

play25:52

um

play25:53

all of the symbolism and the archetypes

play25:55

or we could actually create a little

play25:57

experience for the person

play25:59

and the way we could do that would be

play26:01

simply the the moon card is symbolic

play26:04

of intuition but all the stuff that

play26:07

comes with intuition

play26:09

you see everyone has degrees of interest

play26:11

in tuition

play26:12

but we also have degrees of stupidity

play26:15

that come with it

play26:16

oh yes i'm very intuitive engineer yes i

play26:18

think i'm i'm quite psychic

play26:20

yes i always know when my my

play26:22

girlfriend's going to phone me i can

play26:24

always i can always feel it and you

play26:26

start to get this this

play26:27

they start off with you know we can all

play26:29

intuit things about the world

play26:31

but people take it to a ridiculous

play26:33

degree and

play26:34

the logical extreme of intuition goes

play26:36

into superstition

play26:39

where now we have all sorts of weird

play26:41

religious

play26:42

morality and social behaviors

play26:46

because we're superstitious as well and

play26:49

that then goes into

play26:50

like blowing out the candles make a wish

play26:51

that kind of stuff um being frightened

play26:53

of witches being frightened of being

play26:55

hexed

play26:56

um there's lots and lots of variations

play26:58

on this and lots of people say they're

play27:00

not superstitious

play27:01

but they are just look at how many

play27:03

people are terrified of dying

play27:05

what happens to them after death people

play27:07

still have we have a whole society

play27:09

that has this morbid fear of death

play27:12

despite it being

play27:13

absolutely inevitable for every living

play27:15

being on the planet for everything

play27:16

that's ever lived everything's going to

play27:18

live

play27:18

but we live in a complete denial of it

play27:20

we've constructed this bizarre reality

play27:23

that seems to be a logical extension of

play27:26

intuition and where that would take us

play27:27

to

play27:28

if you think how we could do intuition

play27:31

is largely

play27:32

your senses how you construct the world

play27:34

through the senses but without vision

play27:36

and so to to have this experience you'd

play27:38

be blindfolded

play27:41

and the the initiation we would use to

play27:43

use initiation

play27:44

as a term we would have a person undergo

play27:46

a journey and we would have two

play27:48

two rooms one is organized with the

play27:51

symbolism of malcuth i'm going to save

play27:53

that for another day

play27:54

and the other room is organized with the

play27:55

symbolism of netzer

play27:57

and essentially the person is going to

play27:58

navigate their way between the two rooms

play28:01

we would orientate them to to their

play28:03

malcooth room which is

play28:04

all lovely decorated and it's got all

play28:05

the all the right things going on

play28:08

we would then stick a blindfold on them

play28:10

open the door push them through the door

play28:11

they don't get a choice

play28:12

out you go but they don't know this

play28:16

is the structure they don't know what's

play28:17

going to happen now they have to get

play28:19

from one place to the next they're

play28:21

blindfolded

play28:22

they have to find their way but what

play28:25

we're going to do is we're going to put

play28:26

things in the way

play28:27

we're going to make them frightened

play28:28

we're going to create experiences for

play28:30

them

play28:31

that are absolutely real except they're

play28:34

not

play28:35

the person doesn't know they would have

play28:36

no way of knowing this so for example it

play28:38

might will be they go through the door

play28:40

and they're into this this journey where

play28:42

there's a corridor or whether it's

play28:44

if you're out in an open field or

play28:45

however it is that would be between

play28:47

these two venues

play28:48

they're going to feel their way they

play28:49

don't know which way to go they have no

play28:51

people lose their sense of direction

play28:53

very fast when they're blindfolded and

play28:54

they have nothing to hold on to

play28:56

somebody might whisper to somebody else

play28:58

careful gaffer is going to fall in the

play29:00

hole

play29:01

there is no hole somebody else might say

play29:04

that if you put up the tripwires

play29:06

there are no tripwires we can start to

play29:08

put things

play29:09

in there that would cause them concern

play29:12

but all of those things don't exist so

play29:15

we're going to give the person

play29:16

an experience of being confronted by

play29:19

superstitious nonsense that's not

play29:20

happening it's not real

play29:22

but everything suggests to them it is

play29:24

real and they have to find their way

play29:26

through that nonsense

play29:28

that's what this path represents the

play29:30

best symbolism i've heard of this best

play29:32

description is it's the it's midnight

play29:34

you're in the forest it's pitch black

play29:36

you cannot see a thing

play29:38

in the distance you hear walls and there

play29:40

are witches about

play29:43

but you don't know whether the walls are

play29:44

actually tame or not because they might

play29:46

be dogs

play29:47

and there aren't actually any witches

play29:49

but because of the times that you live

play29:51

in there are witches

play29:52

and you now have to try and get your way

play29:54

through and get home

play29:56

now here's the suggestion that i would i

play29:58

would put to this

play29:59

once we have understood and been

play30:02

initiated

play30:03

into those concepts and we have learned

play30:04

to overcome both develop

play30:06

intuition without going into its absurd

play30:09

conclusions

play30:12

and we're able to do that without being

play30:15

tripped up being misled by our own

play30:18

illusory senses

play30:21

we are able to connect our creativity

play30:24

to the real world think about what the

play30:27

schizophrenic does

play30:29

think about what the narcissist does

play30:31

think about what the

play30:32

anxious person does they're connecting

play30:36

superstitious things that aren't

play30:38

happening

play30:39

they're not real and they're connecting

play30:42

them to the real world

play30:43

they're projecting out their fears into

play30:46

the real world

play30:47

that may not actually even exist for

play30:49

them so

play30:51

what we're able to do is use this as a

play30:53

as an interesting way of personal

play30:55

development that there's no therapeutic

play30:56

model here there's no

play30:58

there's no technique process from any of

play31:00

the like cbt or nlp

play31:02

that would replicate this this enables

play31:04

us now to start to play with concepts

play31:06

that we wouldn't otherwise be aware of

play31:10

so what would happen if you could

play31:12

connect your creativity

play31:14

to your real manifest world without it

play31:18

deceiving you and being misled

play31:21

by suggestion from other people's

play31:24

superstitious nonsense

play31:26

and so that's that's essentially what

play31:27

the path of the moon

play31:30

would represent at this level it has

play31:33

other stuff to it too

play31:35

so that's just one of those things now

play31:37

of course we've got 22 variations on

play31:39

these

play31:39

which are very linear it connects these

play31:42

two experiences connects these two

play31:43

experience we can connect these two

play31:45

but in in magic in kabulistic

play31:48

orientated magic we're going much

play31:50

further than that

play31:51

because we're able to juxtapose things

play31:53

across context

play31:55

and start to mix and match these

play31:56

concepts to take us into

play31:58

interesting areas of personal

play32:00

exploration

play32:01

this serves as a guide for a terrible

play32:04

term

play32:05

but it serves as a guide to to start to

play32:07

organize experience and to sort

play32:09

through experiences that we wouldn't

play32:11

otherwise even conceive

play32:13

existed for example this one here i know

play32:16

i know so well

play32:18

um people never even think about how

play32:20

much nonsense do i listen to

play32:22

from coaches and therapists i'm just

play32:23

like what are you doing you know that

play32:26

but they can't stop them because they

play32:28

don't understand

play32:29

that actually manifesting this

play32:31

superstitious nonsense into the real

play32:33

world

play32:33

is a creative process but it's not

play32:35

necessarily one that's going to be very

play32:37

useful

play32:38

now the path that connects hard to

play32:41

so remember hard is intellect or the

play32:44

will to intellect the will to know

play32:46

and nazar is very much in the the realm

play32:48

of creativity

play32:50

the path that connects here is the

play32:52

blasted tower

play32:54

and the symbolism of the blasted tower

play32:56

is a tower

play32:57

that has been struck by lightning

play33:00

there's sometimes there is a

play33:01

an external force as well coming at it

play33:03

and the tower is collapsing and there

play33:05

are people falling out of it

play33:07

now this is such an archetypal symbol

play33:09

it's amazing i

play33:10

i it's one of my particular favorites

play33:13

generally your

play33:14

tarot readers um the fortune tellers who

play33:17

never really paid attention to the

play33:19

archetypes

play33:20

they kind of get it right but they see

play33:23

this as a holy negative

play33:24

card now what the tower represents

play33:27

symbolically

play33:28

is it is the loss of the false self

play33:32

mediated through external force so

play33:34

essentially this

play33:35

is the really bad day that just keeps

play33:38

getting worse

play33:39

and there's nothing you can do about it

play33:42

you're screwed it doesn't matter you're

play33:43

nothing you do

play33:44

and i've i think we've all had phases in

play33:46

our lives where this is having to use

play33:47

the job and as a result of the job you

play33:49

can't pay the rent that's not going to

play33:50

pay rent you can lose your house and

play33:51

then you ah it just goes and

play33:53

it snowballs and then when it gets worse

play33:55

it just gets even worse and then you

play33:57

feel really bad and you're not

play33:58

functioning particularly well

play33:59

and then you start falling out with

play34:01

people it just gets worse being

play34:02

autobiographical here

play34:05

many people have had that now that's not

play34:07

what the tower symbolizes

play34:09

but when that happens and

play34:13

it becomes the best thing that's ever

play34:15

happened to you because you

play34:17

wake up to your own nonsense even if you

play34:19

didn't create the nonsense even if it's

play34:20

not

play34:21

this was not of your creation but you

play34:23

wake up to this you you become

play34:24

aware of the persona the full

play34:27

self the ego that actually

play34:31

the lies that you've told about yourself

play34:32

to yourself and you get to stop doing

play34:34

that

play34:35

and you emerge a better person basically

play34:37

that what doesn't kill us makes us

play34:39

stronger

play34:39

that's what this path is when it's just

play34:42

negative trauma and there's bad stuff

play34:44

happening

play34:44

that's not what this is that's this bad

play34:46

stuff happening but when we have bad

play34:48

stuff that enables us to be liberated

play34:50

and that's the symbolism of the card the

play34:53

people in the tower

play34:54

notice they're in an elevated position

play34:56

that tower is destroyed and they are

play34:58

freed from that

play35:00

but at the point they're falling i don't

play35:03

think they would go yay we're free

play35:06

no no we've been struck by lightning and

play35:08

now we're falling to our deaths

play35:10

that's generally how they'll be

play35:12

experiencing that but the reality is it

play35:14

enables them to

play35:15

the false ego is destroyed um

play35:19

this by the way is that the level three

play35:21

of my metaphors of movement training is

play35:22

built entirely around

play35:24

the archetypal symbolism of this path

play35:27

i'm just giving a very very brief

play35:28

overview of the party

play35:30

is more than what i'm saying just to

play35:32

make that clear

play35:34

so now what would happen if we initiate

play35:37

on this this path rather than having

play35:41

intellect and creativity as being

play35:44

separate

play35:45

we can now have unity between the two

play35:47

instead of having left brain doing left

play35:49

brain stuff and right brain doing right

play35:51

brain stuff

play35:52

and having these quite abstract things

play35:54

where we're lurching from

play35:55

panic and worry at one moment and then

play35:57

talking to ourselves and reassuring

play35:59

ourselves of the next and backs of wars

play36:00

backs and forwards

play36:02

what would happen if we created unity

play36:03

between the two

play36:05

and largely this destructive element

play36:08

that is symbolized by the tower or just

play36:10

symbolized by this but this path is is

play36:13

representative

play36:15

of how we can start to unite the the

play36:18

intellectual and the creative part

play36:19

in and bring them together in a much

play36:22

more creative way

play36:24

so one of the things we can do and this

play36:26

is what the kabbalistic and magical

play36:28

practices and meditations are about

play36:30

are ways of bringing about unity through

play36:32

disparate parts

play36:34

utilizing the archetypes now

play36:37

if there's interest in the archetypes

play36:40

i'm

play36:40

quite happy to go through those it's a

play36:43

lot

play36:44

there's a lot of stuff there and it's

play36:45

it's i love it so i'm more than happy to

play36:47

talk about it

play36:47

but i don't want to go through it all if

play36:49

if people aren't really interested in it

play36:51

the one thing i will say at this moment

play36:53

in time is that when i hear

play36:55

trainers talking about archetypes they

play36:57

have it entirely wrong

play36:59

there's a number of people who have

play37:01

essentially these are nrp trainers who

play37:03

have ripped off my metaphors work

play37:05

and there's another one this week that

play37:07

i've become aware of now what they've

play37:08

done is they've ripped off the work

play37:10

and i can oh i've confronted all of them

play37:13

on it and what they'll do is go no

play37:15

you've just taken this stuff from george

play37:16

lakoff you've just taken this stuff from

play37:18

um miese or whatever a name is coming

play37:22

and i haven't that's not where the work

play37:24

comes from they just don't know it any

play37:26

deeper than that

play37:28

and so what they're doing is they're

play37:29

taking my material reattributing it

play37:31

where they think it's safe to do

play37:33

and they're not saying i'm now teaching

play37:35

according to caroline mace

play37:36

i'm teaching this according to lake off

play37:38

and they're not at all

play37:39

um i think they assume i don't know lake

play37:41

off and don't don't know me but

play37:43

who knows the problem they've got is

play37:46

when they are

play37:47

instead of using metaphor they're using

play37:49

the word archetypes

play37:50

and they think say if we look at krishna

play37:54

and jesus archetypally

play37:57

they're said to be very similar there's

play37:59

a lot of similarities between them and

play38:01

then

play38:01

we can also bring in the egyptian god

play38:03

form horus as well

play38:05

there's lots of symbolisms of them jesus

play38:08

is not the archetype

play38:08

horus is not the archetype um krishna is

play38:12

not the archetype

play38:14

there there are different expressions of

play38:17

the same archetype the moment we try and

play38:20

get into

play38:21

what is the archetype we're into the

play38:24

ineffable

play38:25

it is beyond language which is why in

play38:27

the spiritual text in the magical texts

play38:29

the god forms are usually used

play38:33

and the archetype is above the the

play38:35

reference point of the god form

play38:37

so the god for itself is a useful

play38:39

reference point it's the highest we can

play38:41

go

play38:41

before we get into the ineffable and

play38:45

essentially the spiritual traditions

play38:47

will say

play38:48

the ineffable is god the true god but

play38:51

it's unreachable by man we can't even

play38:54

speak his name

play38:55

it is unspeakable it is beyond language

play38:57

it is it is something

play38:58

outside of the concept which is why we

play39:01

have to create

play39:02

lower level gods as high level symbolism

play39:05

of the archetype so just say it again

play39:08

things like jesus

play39:09

krishna and and and horus they're not

play39:12

archetypes

play39:14

but they are different expressions of

play39:16

the archetype

play39:17

we will use those terms and say yeah the

play39:20

jesus archetype the

play39:22

horus archetype as a point of

play39:24

convenience but it's not really the

play39:26

archetype

play39:26

if that makes any sense you'll know the

play39:29

people who've ripped off my work

play39:31

because on their youtube videos they're

play39:33

talking all the time about archetypes

play39:34

but actually

play39:35

when they use the word archetype they

play39:36

actually are using metaphor taxonomies

play39:39

and that's what they're referring to

play39:41

which is just not correct at all

play39:44

what i do have is that the majority of

play39:47

the metaphors work that they do

play39:49

and the taxonomies have come through an

play39:52

understanding of the archetypes

play39:55

that i have learned over the years

play39:56

through these practices

play39:58

and the the classical stories especially

play40:01

scriptural stories

play40:03

um things from the the greek classics

play40:05

the great stories

play40:07

that get retold across thousands of

play40:09

years

play40:10

there's there's you the clue there they

play40:12

take on they have

play40:14

high archetypal value which is why

play40:17

they're the stories that last

play40:18

and of the thousands of other stories

play40:20

that emerge every year

play40:22

they disappear because they're very

play40:23

localized to specific events

play40:25

but some stories are big big archetypal

play40:28

content

play40:29

and that's why they resonate so

play40:31

powerfully with people over such

play40:33

wide wide spans of time but also across

play40:36

large portions of population because

play40:39

they have high archetypal content

play40:41

and the retelling retelling retelling

play40:43

shapes them accordingly

play40:45

and then they solidify

play40:48

within those stories what you can start

play40:50

to find is so

play40:52

how does if we take the planet mars or

play40:54

the god mars

play40:56

how does he behave if we take

play40:59

jupiter this is much more about

play41:01

structure and construction and stability

play41:03

but also about forgiveness

play41:05

it's easier to be very forgiving when

play41:07

you're stable

play41:08

hence why jupiter and forgiveness do go

play41:10

hand in hand

play41:12

when you're feeling unstable and

play41:13

insecure it's very it's very difficult

play41:16

to be very forgiving

play41:17

but when you have a lot of strength and

play41:19

a lot of stability

play41:21

then you're actually able to be a lot

play41:22

more forgiving

play41:24

what we can start to do is to look into

play41:26

the the ancient stories

play41:28

how did those embodiments of the

play41:30

archetype behave

play41:32

and interact with each other because now

play41:35

you can start to get some behavioral

play41:37

cues

play41:38

and clues about how to

play41:41

to work with your own symbolism your own

play41:44

metaphors and experiences

play41:46

because we're limited on what we have

play41:48

learned ourselves

play41:49

in terms of how to behave as children we

play41:52

had strong identification with various

play41:55

characters from movies and cartoons and

play41:57

in our comic books

play41:58

we had various action heroes and fantasy

play42:02

heroes who we would identify with in

play42:03

varying forms

play42:05

and that if we were to use that as an

play42:08

embodiment of an archetype

play42:10

enriches our internal world and gives us

play42:13

some degrees of flexibility but we stuck

play42:15

with those and ignored the rest

play42:17

what would happen if we strongly

play42:19

identified with all the different

play42:21

embodiments of archetypes

play42:23

and and and reenacted either

play42:25

symbolically

play42:26

through meditation or dramatically

play42:28

through ritual

play42:29

and ceremony like in in magic we we

play42:33

start to create an enrichment and

play42:35

variation

play42:36

as we learn the different archetypes

play42:38

that people are embodying

play42:39

and we know the variables by which they

play42:41

interact with each other and what the

play42:43

results are

play42:44

and largely for me these classical texts

play42:46

that are reverberated through the years

play42:48

are really good demonstrations of the

play42:51

kind of interactions that people

play42:52

like and that's why they retell the

play42:54

story because it resonates powerfully

play42:57

so a lot of the work that i've developed

play42:59

from the metaphor stuff has been derived

play43:01

through modeling out

play43:03

some of those things within those

play43:05

classical stories now the ones i've used

play43:07

are predominantly biblical

play43:08

simply because in the western traditions

play43:10

western's culture

play43:12

the bible was the number one influence

play43:15

if i was in asia i'd be looking at the

play43:16

vedas or you know the

play43:17

the hindu texts somebody said loads of

play43:19

them and so if i was in the middle east

play43:21

i'll be looking at islamic texts and

play43:23

the jewish ones as well because they are

play43:25

hugely influential in the cultures there

play43:28

so i think that's what i want to go

play43:30

through with this one if anyone has any

play43:32

specific

play43:33

questions or things they'd like me to

play43:35

cover on archetypes

play43:37

on any of the the the stories that i

play43:40

that i utilize on kabab itself and tarot

play43:44

symbolism

play43:44

then i'd be delighted um no

play43:48

i'm not going to tell you a fortune

play43:49

that's nonsense by the way and anyone

play43:51

who tells you otherwise

play43:52

is a fool
