Outlines
🙏 Opening Prayer and Introduction to the Lesson
The paragraph begins with a prayer, expressing gratitude and humility before embarking on a new series of lessons. It emphasizes the importance of sincerity in prayer and the desire for wisdom and understanding from God. The speaker acknowledges the presence of both those attending and those who may be joining later, and thanks God for His omnipresence. The main theme of the lesson is introduced as exploring the nature of Jesus as God, specifically His power over death, and the confirmation of His deity through miracles.
🌟 Understanding Miracles and Their Purpose
This paragraph delves into the concept of miracles, defining them as events that cannot happen naturally and are beyond human explanation. The speaker discusses the difficulty people often have in describing miracles and provides a personal interpretation of what constitutes a miracle. It is emphasized that the purpose of a miracle is not just the event itself but the message or revelation it conveys. The miracles of Jesus are highlighted as signs to demonstrate His divinity and to deepen the understanding of His role as the Son of God.
📖 The Story of Jesus' First Miracle
The narrative focuses on the account of Jesus' first miracle as documented in the Gospel of John. The setting is a wedding in Cana of Galilee, where Jesus, His mother, and His disciples are in attendance. The importance of the third day is discussed, with various interpretations offered for its significance. The wedding itself is described as a significant social event, with the mother of Jesus playing a notable role. The paragraph sets the stage for the miracle that will occur due to the running out of wine, a major issue for the celebratory event.
🥂 The Wedding at Cana and the Role of Mary
The paragraph continues the discussion on the wedding at Cana, emphasizing the cultural and social norms surrounding weddings during biblical times. It contrasts these traditions with modern practices, particularly the extended period of celebration which could last up to seven days. The importance of wine in these celebrations is highlighted, and the embarrassment of running out of wine is discussed. The paragraph also focuses on the role of Mary, Jesus' mother, who is present at the wedding and alerts Jesus about the lack of wine, indicating her involvement and concern for the event's success.
🍇 Jesus' Response to the Wine Shortage
In this paragraph, the story of the wine shortage at the wedding continues. Jesus' mother informs Him about the situation, but He responds by questioning why she involves Him, stating that His time for performing miracles has not yet come. Despite His response, Mary instructs the servants to follow Jesus' commands, showing her faith in His abilities. The paragraph explores the respectful nature of Jesus' address to His mother and the anticipation of His divine intervention to resolve the issue.
🌊 The Water Turned into Wine
The miracle of turning water into wine is detailed in this paragraph. Jesus instructs the servants to fill six stone water pots with water, following the Jewish tradition of purification. He then asks them to draw water from the filled pots and present it to the master of the feast. The master, unaware of the source of the wine, praises the bridegroom for saving the best wine for last, not realizing that the wine is a result of Jesus' divine intervention. The paragraph highlights the significance of this event as the beginning of Jesus' miracles and the revelation of His glory to His disciples, leading to their belief in Him.
📈 The Start of Jesus' Ministry and His Move to Capernaum
The paragraph concludes the story of Jesus' first miracle and its impact on His ministry. It describes how the event marked the beginning of His public ministry, with His disciples now believing in Him. Jesus then moves to Capernaum with His family and disciples, where His ministry continues to grow. The paragraph also mentions John the Baptist's role in recognizing Jesus as the Messiah and the importance of the miracles as signs of Jesus' divine nature. The speaker transitions from the lesson to the upcoming worship service, offering a closing prayer that reflects on the lessons learned and seeks God's presence in future worship experiences.

Transcripts
well to all the saints of God good
morning everyone and I hope everybody
had a blessed week and looking forward
to once again another wonderful Sunday
school session that we have before us
with this brand new series of lessons
that we have so with those words being
said we ask that we all may stand to our
feet and as always as we pray to God we
don't want to pray with a a manner of
just routine we want to pray with
sincerity and that God would give us
just a portion of wisdom that we all
might be able to learn something and
gain something from this lesson that is
before us so shall we pray father it's
once again upon this hour and upon this
day that each and every one of us come
with a humble heart we come as always
giving your name all praise all glory
and truly all the honor that only you
and you alone are so worthy of and now
dear father as we are about to Embark
upon a new series of lessons as always
we ask for some insight we ask for some
guidance dear father we ask for some
understanding of thus sayth your word
and we ask this day dear Lord as we
understand this word that we not only
would have as Pastor would say head
knowledge but may we truly have an
understanding dear Lord and have a
closer relationship with you that we may
use this not only for our own benefit
but also for the benefit of others and
as we said before dear Lord bless those
that are here and truly dear Lord bless
those that still may be on their way but
as always dear Lord we always may have
some that could not be here this day but
thank you dear Lord that we have an
omnipresent God that truly you are in
all places yet at all times Bo in Jesus
name that we give this prayer amen
amen
well folks today we are in a new series
of lessons we a new unit that has five
lessons that and over heaven so before
we get to the new thing let's understand
that these lessons truly revolve around
our overall theme and our overall theme
has been
what Jesus Is God or you can reverse
that and say what God is Jesus because
when we talk about Jesus being God we
also talk this thing called that of the
Trinity and when we talk about Jesus as
God the question may come up well how do
we know this how is it confirmed and
this is why the writer has termed each
unit confirmed by something as we know
our first unit we dealt with Jesus was
confirmed as being God by his power over
death because only God only Christ has
power over death that very first lesson
we dealt with was Jesus claim to deity
other words his position his status and
how does that deal with death
considering that you think about it it
really didn't deal with the subject
matter of death but in a way it did
because Jesus is there establishing his
position his authority and his power
that he had power to forgive sin and as
we know when sin have conceived is
bringing forth lust and lust have
conceived it bringeth forth Sin Sin then
bringeth forth this thing called what
death and guess what only Christ can
forgive sin and by Christ being able to
forgive sin
death has no sting it has no Victory so
therefore it was confirmed that Jesus is
God by his power there over death our
next lesson we dealt with Jar's daughter
and the bleeding woman in that lesson we
know that Jesus had received a message
that Jar's daughter was dying as we know
Jesus then goes to jer's house and as he
comes to the house the people are there
they are mourning they are crying over
what has happened because the girl has
died but before he even arrived Jesus
knew this because they had sent messages
to tell jarus not to bother the master
because the daughter has yet died and if
you recall Jesus didn't looked at jarus
and gave these words just believe and
when Jesus arrives there and says the
maid has not died she only sleeps it
says they laughed him to scorn and after
this it said Jesus then what put them
all out and then he brought in Peter
James and John and the parents and he
says to the young Maiden he says arise
and the scripture says and then the
spirit went back into her body which
means that she had truly died because as
we know Jesus is the only one that can
bring the spirit back into the body we
talked about the doctors they can revive
you they can resuscitate you in a given
amount of time but there's no one in
medical field that can put the spirit
back into the body but yet Jesus can
this is confirmation of his power over
death then we move to our next lesson
which was a similar fashion it dealt
with the raising of Lazarus as we know
Jesus received the message then that
Lazarus was sick and as we know
Jerusalem where he was at and where Naz
was at was only some two miles to
Bethany but yet Jesus I would said
purposely delayed his travel there
because you remember he said to his
disciples for your sakes I'm glad I
wasn't there that the son of man may be
glorified words they may believe that
now he is uh the Son of God so therefore
for Jesus delays his time of going there
and when he arrives it says what Lazarus
had already died in fact he had been in
the Tomb how many days four days in the
Tomb but yet Jesus says what roll away
the stone and it says he cried out with
a loud voice Lazarus come forth and the
word says then Lazareth come walking out
of the Tomb confirmation that Jesus had
power over death then we move to the
next lesson which was actually a
two-part lesson leading into the the
following week we dealt the crucifixion
of Jesus in this particular lesson it
laid the stage for the coming lesson in
that Christ was now betrayed by his very
own with a kiss and as he was betrayed
he went through this crucifixion and
that Jesus um had said that to his
father in the prayer that he wish this
cup would pass away from me but he says
but what but not mine will but thine
will be done because Jesus knew the
prophecy Jesus knew who he was and that
guess what this death would have no
victory over him that he would yet rise
but all this led us into the following
lesson because it was basically I call
it a two-part lesson because the last
one we deal last week was the
resurrection of Jesus Christ what the
elders would call that great getting up
morning Resurrection Sunday even though
the world still hasn't got it right yet
by calling it Easter Sunday we know it's
Resurrection Sunday and in this day we
know that Christ was in in the grave how
many
days three days but yet he rolled with
all power in his hand showing us that he
had what power over death and it was
confirmed by all these actions but today
we'll follow the similar theme of
dealing with Jesus as God and how this
is confirmed we're dealing with unit two
has a new theme and that is confirmed by
what by Mighty Miracles now here's the
thing starting out we always have to
know where it is we're going what's a
miracle
anybody know what a miracle
is something that can't be done to
happen that's a
miracle any other thing you can add to
that and don't say the Cowboys winning a
playoff game
either CU that would be a
miracle I pick it on ni back
here what's di Bush what's a
miracle hey we did go back to back not
long
ago what's a
miracle true you can say that's Miracle
but so everybody know what a miracle is
right but we seem to have a hard time
describing what a miracle was but we
know what a miracle is uh let me give
you my rendition of a
miracle first of all I guess I go on the
I guess I'm not going to say negative I
guess you say negative side and positive
side one thing about a miracle is
this is that if you are in a
situation and you're trying to see a way
out of
it and that you can see let's say the
pieces lining up you know if this Falls
in this place and this does this and
this that and that and then it all works
out guess what we call that a miracle
but that's not a miracle because once
again if you can see if this goes here
and that goes this way and this goes
that way and it all come to pass you say
oh there was a miracle all worked out
that's not a miracle because you could
see it all happening a miracle is you're
in a
situation and you can't see no way out
of it you said there's no way in the
world this thing's going to come off but
out of nowhere somehow someway it came
to pass that is a miracle so other words
if you can see it happening it's not a
miracle if you cannot see it happening
no shape form or fashion and it does
that my people is a miracle and that's
truly a miracle uh another thing you
find with a miracle is
this uh which one I see two hands
Anthony
M yeah can't be explained you say it
just happened I have no idea but it
worked out that is a miracle another
thing about a miracle we must understand
is this often times just as people in
the Biblical times would do and of the
day we concentrate upon the miracle
which is the action other words what
took place but truly what is great
is the purpose of the miracle in the
first place other words it's kind of
like if if Pastor Jackson was here today
you know when Pastor Jackson would
always tells us a story he would always
let us know that the story is important
right he said story is important he said
but the the greater purpose is what is
the moral of the story other words you
told that story for a reason and the
Miracle the same way but it's not just
the fact that you did the miracle that
the person could walk again in Christ
realm he did the miracle for what
purpose you'll find to show you
something because you'll find that
typically when Christ talks of Miracles
he doesn't use that word often he often
say I do this as a sign and he did it to
do what to show you something to show
you that he is God to show you he is the
Son of God this is why he said earlier
to his disciples I glad for your sakes
that I wasn't there that you may believe
and see the Son of God glorified other
words when they see him raised up from
the dead then they say oh truly this is
the Son of God or this is God himself
because the Miracles are done for a
reason to show you something they're not
done to put on a show you know cuz often
time people just talk oh the person is
walking they're moving again and they
just look at that person and what is
happen but they don't look at the one
who caused it to happen like how did
this person do these things because you
even look with Nicodemus he says that we
know that thou a man for God he said
because no man can do these Miracles
unless what God be with him other words
you have to see that God has a role in
it and with these lessons all of them
deal with a miracle taking place um
before us but we have to look at the
greater cause here what was the purpose
of the miracle what was the outcome of
it in the end it was always done for one
purpose to show you who Christ was
because keep in mind Christ didn't come
out really and tell you who he was he
just gave you the word showed you things
and as we've always said and and I don't
know if it's a black thing or not but I
always say in the black community if
somebody tell you who they are and and
show you who they are you're supposed to
do what
typically believe who they are and
that's all Christ did was he talked
about it and he showed you who he was
but today's lesson deals with that very
aspect today we're dealing
with that of our first lesson coming
from The Gospel according to John is
Jesus first miracle he has written now
we're coming out The Gospel according to
John if somebody doesn't have book
everybody has a
book come to The Gospel according to
John the 2 chapter at the first verse
this man
John um this gospel is the fourth gospel
which mix up what we call the full
gospels because when you look at Matthew
Mark and Luke the synoptic gospel you
add John and they call it the Full
Gospel themselves John is one of those
handpicked Disciples of Jesus along with
his brother James John was privileged to
many things that the other disciples
weren't because often Jesus would called
Peter James and then John to come to see
what would transpire so John a lot of
insight here you'll find it also uh get
your minds moving here little trivia
question in the New Testament how many
books are
there drum
roll 27 books are the New Testament all
right how many are attributed to this
man
John I put a trick question if any
Bush says
five anybody believe that there hear
another
number don't follow D
bush that little joke but he's right
five books those five books are this
book is the Gospel of John right then
you think about it we have
some call it the old folks called it I
John so there's first John second John
third John and people say wait a minute
that ain't but four we always miss
perhaps one of the most important books
in the Bible all them are important
important book in the Bible one that
reveals things to us that which is
uncovered he was the one who pinned The
Book of Revelations so five of the let's
call them all of them the gospel the
good word five of the books I attribute
to this man John but John decides in
this particular one in Chapter 2 to tell
you about the first miracle which was
done by Christ and remember what's the
most important thing about the
Miracles it tells you Jesus other words
he did it as a sign to show you
something the Act was important but the
greater purpose is what was behind it
why did he do what was he trying to show
you and we start off in this second
chapter of John it says and the third
day there was a marriage in canaa of
Galilee and the mother of Jesus was
there you know small Point
here but I've seen where it says it was
the third day so what day was
this or was it the third
day and as you're baffled by this this
has often come up it's a small detail
which I kind of Overlook myself a lot
like okay but details are important
someone said the writer here is setting
the stage he wants to show you something
he wants you to understand what's going
on so he giving you the stage he say
it's now it's the third
day okay there was a marriage in can of
Galilee and the mother of Jesus was
there so what third day is this what
does he mean by this third
day see this is what study comes and
this will make things interesting small
detail some say this third day is that
of Tuesday
cu the days start they say Sunday Monday
Tuesday so I'm say no it's Wednesday
because we start Monday Tuesday
Wednesday some says the third day after
these events in chapter one took place
that leads you into that some said no
it's the third day maybe after he called
his last
disciple they kind of bounce around with
it to give idea I'm going to give you my
rendition of
it um is not I believe the third day
after certain events took place because
you have to go back now only what how
many chapters have figure this
out yeah we're in chapter two look at
chapter one in chapter one just to skip
over some things I'm not going through
this whole
chapter but John leads off we're talking
about many things about Christ okay so
that's this particular day he's talking
about things right so that makes how
many
days that's one day or you could say
that's the first day right but if you
look if you have a Bible out in John 12
9 it says this the next day John seeth
Jesus coming unto him and sayith Behold
the Lamb of God which taketh away the
sin of the
world so if he's already talking about
this happening in one day but then he
says the next day how many days is that
well that's two days okay we get that
but then we go a little bit further down
to John the 43rd verse it says the day
following I'm not I'm sorry John 1:35 he
says again the next day after John stood
it and two of his disciples so now we
have another day which means how many
days well that's three days this day
talking about now can't be the third day
because you already covered three days
because you go further from that John
1:43 says the day following Jesus would
go forth into Galilee and find philth
and sath unto him follow me so right
there you have four days so this can't
be the third day after these events took
place because the writer has laid it out
for us so I'm said well what he speaks
of is kind of like saying in our Tong
the day after tomorrow because what he
deals with some would say is that when
you read it he picks his disciples at
this point you have Philip and
Nathaniel he selects those two
individuals and then the writer goes
into say on the third day some say it's
the third day after that event took
place maybe I look at a little bit
different I look at that he set the
stage earlier what was going on and now
he tells you the wedding took place on
the third day words a totally different
concept now cuz he starts by saying and
the third day there was a marriage
because before this he was talking about
selecting his disciples but now he goes
to well a wedding happened on the third
day it could be that now which one is
it I don't
know other words it's just some
self-study small details but the right
let know on this day a marriage took
place it said the third day there was a
marriage a marriage we would call a day
we call it a wedding very R we said
there's a marriage taking place we said
there's a wedding taking place now I'm
not get too heavy into this right now
cuz I want to pick up some things later
with this was the the weddings back then
the same as the weddings
today oh no you find that they were
drastically drastically different from
what we have for today in that of a
wedding or a marriage taking place all
the way from the point of going back to
the engagement you know we said we engag
they said they are now exposed
the engagement last how long fost to
day I Mike I can't see your face but I
know what you
thinking how long engagement last the
day for the
marriage H you said a
year
okay I've seen some last almost 17
years got to ring on her finger for a
long time long time you know you know
during their time when it comes to this
marriage thing when you was exposed or
betroll to the individual they called
you already
married and why did they do
that the reason why they did that is
you've asked for their hand in marriage
they've agreed to it your word is bond
they are already married to break things
off you have to have a letter of
divorcement even though you haven't
actually gone through the ceremony
itself just because of the fact that you
committed one to another now you are I'm
not going to say technically but you
were married at that point
you remember Joseph was he married to
Mary he hadn't had the
ceremony but he called his wife the
whole time and he says he wanted to put
her away what privately but you look at
the scriptures he never had the ceremony
it wasn't until after she had the child
when he actually had the actual ceremony
took place but they were considered
already to be that of married weddings
at this time were great times of
Celebration I'm going get into that a
little bit bit later great time of
Celebration so we have here the scene is
on this third day there was a wedding to
take place in canaa of
Galilee they even give us now the place
where the wedding is going to take place
in the area where Jesus pretty much
headquartered things you'll find Canaan
was just west of the Sea of Galilee just
a little bit south of Capernaum many
call Jesus headquarters where a lot of
Miracle took place it was some five
miles north of of Nazareth itself so
it's a very familiar place but it was a
small place and when you have a small
village or small community do the people
know each other you find those type
places everybody knows everybody it's
kind of like if a wedding took place
here in brro would you know about it oh
yeah cuz everybody knows everybody a
small setting and this was a small
village at this time in canaa of Galilee
and it also says that this wedding that
was going to take place and the mother
of Jesus was there so now Jesus mother's
there this is mentioned because later
you see that she has a role seems to be
in this wedding and she may know these
people very well maybe even help
planning things getting things in place
but who is married to you how do you see
Mary I'm not get too heavy into Mary but
you have to understand who is
Mary she's what mother of
Jesus got that what can we add to
that
H Joseph's
wife anything else what we know about
what we know about Mary how do we we see
Mary she says the
Virgin at
first I like to add that in she was a
virgin at first you know CU they are
faith that says the Virgin Mary I'm like
well looking at the Bible she had seven
more kids
later we stopped calling your Virg a
long time ago before that but but how we
see
Mary you just see we just said the
mother of Jesus but said mother of Jesus
what goes long with
that
there we go Mar got look at Mary there's
some qualities about her that she was
chosen by who God and God say she were
highly favored above who he said above
all women that I have chosen thee to be
the vessel that should bring the Messiah
into this world and that your name shall
always be spoken of which is true and
she was
what a
what her her gender what was
she
hm she was a woman well I'm getting that
is she was a woman and I don't mean to
said but that's it but she she was a
woman but you know there are many today
that lift Mary up almost in the order of
the godhead that worship Mary they pray
to Mary they even pray to Mary and those
Hail Marys because they would say
that by her being the Son of God she has
a direct connection so they pray to Mary
so their prayers may go to the
father but the Bible I have said we have
about one media between God and man
that's the man who in Jesus Christ but
often times she is elevated to that
status that's not her fault that people
have put it in that situation but God
says you are just highly favorable above
all women but you talk the Father the
Son and the Holy Spirit we deal with
Trinity that's it the Father the Son and
the Holy Spirit no one else is added to
that Collective but they are those who
will place her in that position but she
was a woman to be admired to be looked
up to to be Ed because the position that
God had placed her in but not an
elevation of being a deity to a certain
extent but what we have here is a
wedding is taking place on this third
day in a very well-known Village can of
Galilee and you'll find that Jesus
mother was at this wedding and not only
that it says in verse two and both Jesus
was called and his disciples to the
marriage so we see now a few people that
have been invited to this wedding it's
always good to see receive invit isn't
it do you always need an
invitation why not some of y'all just
crash
weddings I'm just messing with you but
basically they just got the invitation
the writers once again he's setting the
stage for who is at this wedding you
have Jesus you have his mother his
disciples but just to give deep study
here what disciples how many disciples
Jesus has right
now
see often time we think of disciple we
think of how many 12 but not in all
cases if you look only go back one
chapter and you can pretty much see the
only ones they mention they mention one
by the name of
Andrew his brother
Peter then he go to see Phillip they go
see Nathaniel his brother and that's all
they mentioned so we Noah four
automatically maybe John John's writing
this but I can't say John was there or
not John might have just been told these
things and now he's pinning them down
but we can surmise if we add him in five
disciples not all 12 small detail but a
very important detail and why the small
details are important someone said all
12 disciples came to the
wedding the problem you have there is
when you start changing any little small
detail in the Bible it has ceased being
God's where is they become your word
when they ceased being God's become your
word there become
false Doctrine because that's not the
scripture says so I try to give you the
most detailed information as possible
here what we can see we know definitely
four possibly five disciples are there
with Jesus at this wedding the
importance of that is this Jesus is
doing a miracle for what
reason to show you he's Son of God so at
this point he don't have all of them
there but those that are there will
witness something CU I'm going to get
ahead of myself because it says later in
the scripture and they believed on him
because he did the miracle and they knew
that he had to be this individual it
says both Jesus was called and disciples
to the marriage and then it says here
and when they wanted wine the mother of
Jesus said unto him they have no
wine they are folks that are in the
church today they love the scripture cuz
they will use that to justify this is
why I
drink you know and we're not getting on
that subject this morning dealing with
the drinking part we're dealing with
this wedding and the purpose of why it
was done but we have to understand the
wedding at this time and what took place
let me give you an example
here anybody here has been involved with
the planning and let's say financing of
a wedding I'm not talking about you're
you're the wedding director you know
you're the one that says you stand here
you stand here or you announcing the
names on the mic as they come through
the door no I'm talking the ones who
planned it and financially were involved
in it anybody's done that I'm not put
you the spike some questions Wallace you
done that some get
married now here's a question folks when
you plan let's say this Grand wedding
and
reception how long is the typical
reception how long's the reception
last three four hours right that's it
you put a lot of time into this right
lot of planting you got get you know
that's just deal with the food since he
been food drinks things of nature right
for how many
hours few hours that's all right
remember we talked in the very beginning
how they weddings their marriages was
drastically different than theirs when
they would have a wedding imagine this
folks if you were involved with the
planning and fining of a wedding the
reception now goes on for 7
days not a few hours
seven days it was not uncommon for them
to have a celebration of a wedding that
took place in
Israel you need to take all a loan to
the bank pay for this stuff feed all
these people because let me tell you
something if you're party for seven days
or the people going to party seven days
as long as the party going on they're
going to keep on coming so it was very
important to keep things flowing in and
things moving it would be an
embarrassment to have something awful
happen such as this when it says and
when they wanted wine then the wine in
that day was a common drink you had
regular I'm just use two categories even
though there was more than this you had
wine that was just let's say grape juice
such as we're taking part of today in
the Holy Communion but then you had
fermented wine which was Stronger the
alcohol
type it was very important to have this
drink but guess what they run
out guest and they can you imagine how
they felt you know this is this is a
major embarrassment here we run
out can't have this happening imagine
you at the wedding and you said well you
got any more thing to drink we ought a
drink you got any more bread we don't
have no bread you got any more chicken
we ought of chicken what kind of Jackle
wedding is this that they don't have
anything for you but here you'll find
they run out of the wine and they said
to Jesus his mother said to Jesus they
have no
wine you know when I first see this you
you think about the weddings of the day
that's like who I I'm using Anthony back
here that's like Anthony you going to
reception and you've been to many
haven't you and imagine you walk through
the door to reception they come you say
Anthony we run out
chicken I'm like what you telling me for
keep in mind Jesus was invited just like
everybody else but as he gets there they
tell him we out of this what I'm
supposed to do that's literally the
situation that's being put forth here it
says and the mother of Jesus said unto
him have no wine now why did his mother
come to
him she knew
what she knew he could do something
about
it now what at this point we can only
speculate but she know she know her son
a mother knows a child don't they she
went to him we talked this many times
before and he'll never change you always
go to the one who can help you out if
they can't help you you can't go to them
for help they can be your friend but I
can't go to this one CU they can't help
me the situation but they're in a DI
straight here and the mother comes to
Jesus there and say they have no wine
which means she must have something to
do with this occasion that was going on
or trying to help out Di and
Bush mhm exactly so she goes to him for
help keep in mind at this point Jesus is
not I'm going to say wellknown he's not
that Mega preacher that we could see
later he's not come on Jesus traveled
what happened when when he would travel
in in in the
communities oh people are all over him
they they thr them they pressed against
him but now he only has for what we can
see maybe five disciples he's invited to
the wedding and he comes to the wedding
his mother's I'm G say catch him at the
door and say hey we ought of wine and
what was his response Jesus say unto her
what do with the let's stop right there
woman what have I to do with thee when
you see that what immediately comes to
your
mind question Jesus said J said that
he's saying well why you come to me but
what do you see
there some might see something
different
M that's good and you're absolutely
correct with that I'm looking for
something a little bit different what
sometimes is overlooked and some people
get it time they see
it look at his
response you're skipping over something
you said whatever I to do with this you
skipping over something
woman I know y'all qu that didn't you
his mother came you said
woman what do I do with this is that
respectful is
it oh yeah like what's thing called time
I can show you scripture upon
scripture in our day could you say a
woman let me back up you say woman
somebody all get upset up in here
because of the way we probably it said
in their day and tongue it was said in a
different man it was more of a sign of
respect almost like saying Madam or Miss
but we tend to read it from the way we
understand things by saying here and
Jesus said unto Heroman what have I to
do with thee now why we add that anger
in it because that's the way we see it
but if you read it correctly he would
say these words woman what have I to do
with thee other words ma'am what have I
to do with this why are you telling me
this he's being respectful to his mother
even when he was on the cross he says to
John call his what mother then also
woman and it this goes on and on you see
that throughout the scripture so it
wasn't a derogatory word it was a sign
of respect that was given but Jesus
question is as you also stated I can
nothing do with this I just come to the
wedding reception that's it because for
a purpose because he says then mine ey
is what not yet come you want to know
why if he did a miracle what would
happen What would happen if Jes do a
miracle well let me well tell you what
look at in your way you at the wedding
and somebody pulls off a miracle what's
going to happen
oh that could be the Talk of the Town
you can see what's going on it caus a
lot of attention to him but he says now
it's not my time keep in mind at this
point Jesus doesn't even have all his
disciples in place right Jesus hasn't
even been baptized yet to go into the
ministry he said n it's not the time you
know and you look at this case here also
is more of a thing of taking care of
people let's said personal wants here
not that they needed to have it it's
wants and Jesus didn't do Miracles just
to be doing something he did it for a
purpose purp but they end up there was a
purpose for him in performing The
Miracle as we go forth it says here my
hour is not yet come verse 5 says mother
said unto the servants whatsoever he
saith unto you do
it typical mother what does she do
here you can say she step up I want
something else do G what does mother do
here look at the situation they run out
of wine right he goes to to a son and
says we out of wine he said well what
have I to do with this and she said
servant whatever he said do do it and
from what we can see Mar's wearing they
gone what I mean by a typical
mother mother basically needs her son to
do something her son somewh gives like a
complaint about it and mama said look
whatever you say y'all do and she walks
away mama knows it's going to be done
someone said Mama just blew me off I
told Mama I couldn't do it mama said
look you do what I tell you and she
walks away that literally what she's
almost saying she saiding whatever he
said do you guys do it and Mom leaves
out the picture because she know he can
do what it is that she required even
though Christ's Point like really it's
not my hour to do this but yet you going
to find he does it for a reason it says
and there was set there six water pots
of stone after the manner of purifying
of the Jews containing two or three
furkin a piece now a lot is said there
but I know your studies you know what
all this about
right the water pots for the purifying
know what that used
for do
we nobody know what the water pots are
used for when it says here there were
set six water pots of stone after the
manner of the purifying of the Jews
containing two or three furins a
piece what you have there is that the
Jews had a lot of rituals deal with
purifying and being clean and they would
have large amounts of water in the home
because they would watchh for the meals
they would watch when the guest would
come off they would watch for prayer
they would watch they always had this
purifying motion of going on so these
large containers now were at the wedding
to be used but they were empty and they
were large they contain
aeran uh once again their measurements
are never quite correct you can round it
up to 10 gallons a piece so really you
had close to 100 or 100 60 gallons give
a
tick of barrel space or water you could
put in in the barrels so it was a large
amount that you could use there it's
based what the writer is saying but they
use it for the purifying it said Jesus
said to them fill the water pots with
water and they filled them up
halfway to the brim Helen what book you
using over
there let me change that to the
brim what was the purpose in filling
them up to the brim and underlying let's
say get ahead of ourselves since our
time is running what's the underlying
reason for filling up to the
brim anybody know he filled them up with
water all the way up to the top what's
the underlying purpose
there that way you go Mike remember this
going to be a miracle now if I fill them
up halfway I can add wine to it it's
could to be water down wine it's like
water down liquor but you can always
always add to it but Jesus going to make
it wine but keep in mind now the water
is fill all the way to the Top If it
filled to the top can I add anything to
it no you can't put anything in it but
he said fill it all the way up to the
brim now we go back to that definition
we use at very beginning we said what is
a
miracle you can't see it happening you
like you like now if you put this thing
halfway oh I can see it being turned to
Wine cuz you could put a little bit of
wine in it and dilute it and so on from
there once again that's not a miracle
but now you fill up to the very top and
you say you going turn that to Wine I
would look at that as a let's say
magician trick oh yeah this going to be
a trick this going to be a a miracle if
you can do this because you filed it to
the very top and Jesus does this but the
point I want to gather is this who's
around to see this who is the most
important people at this point around to
see
this
H the disciples not for the public yet
it's for his disciples to see this he's
bu it up to the brim and it says in
verse 8 and he saith unto them draw out
now and bear unto the governor of the
feast and they bear it all this
basically saying the governor of the
feast is the one who's in charge of the
reception and all that's going on I'm
quite confident sure he knows that they
out of whine he fills the water buckets
barrels up all the way to the top he
said now dip in and carry to this man
and they do just that now uh your
natural thought would be where they
carry to him now a cup full of water but
these individuals do what Jesus um said
do as his mother has stated it says when
the ruler of the feast had tasted the
water that was made wine and knew not
whence it was but the servants which
drew the water knew the governor of the
feast called for the bridegroom so other
words they bring it to this individual
he sees it he don't know where it came
from the servants knew exactly where it
came from but he said him in verse 10
every man at the beginning does set
forth what kind of wine
good wine and when men have well drunk
then that which is worse but thou has
kept the good wine until
now what let you know it is here it's
not water down because it's good wine I
ain't G to say it's strong wine whatever
but it's good wine and and the point is
normally they bring the best out first
let's say after people get to drink a
little bit what happens after that what
you can do with drinks anybody
know well a lot of people do and bars
and things when you start drinking they
get intoxicated you can give them
anything they don't know what they're
drinking or you can water it down they
just keep on drinking it so you give me
the best out first then you save that
expensive stuff for a later on time
period you know I might told you once
before my one time being a a
bartender y'all think that's funny I'm a
bartend I was bartender one time well
more than once I was pretty good at too
alen I remember pop work for for the for
the reyolds they had a party and they
needed a bartender cuz couldn't show up
for some reason father-in-law said I
could do it I'm like I don't know about
no drinks you know so I go to this party
you know business party and all this
anyway they had drinks all set up but he
has all these cases of champagne and he
says I want to get rid of champagne he
said give them a lot of mimosas I knew
what it was because what I did was I got
an information from brother-in-law Tippy
he said go online print up all the
drinks and put it on the cooler so I had
every drink you can name on my piece of
paper I have my ice Cooter sitting back
here they ask for anything things I
never even heard in my life I look back
and it said blah blah blah this and that
I'll mix and give it to him to the point
that people saying man this guy know
every drink there's nothing that he
don't know but when I would give them
their Mimosa which was a champagne and
orange juice and after thought while I
would just give them anything they know
what they was drinking but it started
off oh this is good this is the great
stuff after that Mr Ry said just give
them all this stuff I'm trying to get
rid of it and we just got of it they
didn't know what they were drinking but
here you'll find they G the best
throughout I can't believe you wait to
this point and now you bring out the
good stuff it says in verse 11 now this
is somebody consider a small miracle but
it's an important Miracle because this
is now where his ministry now is
starting with just a few disciples
because it says in verse 11 this
beginning of Miracles you remember
Christ often use another term for
miracles what did Christ call it a sign
and a sign is put that the show show you
something so other words this beginning
of signs did Jesus in canaa of Galilee
and manifest forth what his glory but
what does manifest
mean it bring forth other words what he
has revealed other words this miracle
now has revealed something to them about
his glory it says this beginning of
miracles did Jesus in Cana of Gile and
manifest forth his glory and his
disciples did what
believed on
him this why I always use a little
saying I say we say we walk by faith and
what and not by sight but typically for
most people we walk by sight and after
seeing then by faith we had to see it to
believe it Christ knows these things
Christ could tell them all day about God
and who he was but until they see
something then they will believe as
Nicodemus said we know that thou are man
come from God because nobody can do
these Miracles unless God is with them
so now Christ does these Miracles right
before these let's say four or five
people and guess what now they have
belief in him and they believe on him it
says then in verse 12 as we close out
after this he went down to
Capernaum he and his mother and his
Brethren and his disciples and they
continue there not many days so other
words now his ministry has started this
why I said earlier you remember I said
capern was considered to be jesus'
headquarters a lot of the events in the
Bible took place in this place called
Capernaum and as the word says in verse
11 this beginning of miracles did Jesus
do and then after that it says then he
moved down to where Capernaum and his
ministry therea took off and this is
when John the baptizer also was on the
scene because John says I must what
decrease and he must what increase and
this what Jesus was trying to let his
mother know my time has not yet come but
now he has revealed himself and
disciples believe on him and as he goes
forth he gathers even more of these
disciples who he ordained to be his
Apostles and once again all this deals
with Jesus being confirmed by what his
mighty
Miracles because the Miracles was done
for but for one purpose to show you
something to show you that Jesus is God
that he is the Son of God now our lesson
next week's deals with Jesus authority
over what demons I tell you it's funny
how things work out because this lesson
was that lesson remember I told you guys
I studied and I studied and I studied I
had all my Lord notes and everything
lined up I said I'm ready for this
lesson and I came here that Sund I went
oh Lord that's a wrong lesson that
lesson like three four weeks
away well let me tell how it works out I
guess the Lord working it that way
because next week we will not be here
got be T Di and Bush will be teaching
the lesson of next week so I ask you all
to come out to support him as he deals
with Jesus authority over the Demonic
over that of demons themselves and I
pray that you all will study your lesson
and come out to support him I hope he
doesn't do too good because last time he
done such a great job one individual say
they thought was thinking about firing
me I said oh my
Lord but it is a good lesson that we
have dealing with the Demonic and the
Demonic truly is in this world that we
live in and that's coming out the gospel
of according to Mark starting at 9:14
but you may want to read the entire
chapter because Dick and Bush may bring
some things that's not part of your
printed text but it may actually be part
of the lesson itself so with those words
being said it's time for us now to close
out this particular session of our
Sunday school and move off into the
worship service so we ask now that we
may stand to our feet as we have a word
of prayer this
morning Father it's once again upon this
closing hour of this particular lesson
that you have given us that we are ever
so grateful for to be able to receive it
we ask always dear Lord that all that we
have seen and all that we have heard
that we may retain it to use more in our
everyday life not only for our benefit
but that we also may share it yet unto
others and dear father we ask right now
as this Sunday school session comes to a
close that your still Spirit still will
be in the very midst of our upand
cominging worship experience we ask for
truly dear Lord anointing upon the choir
the musicians and upon your Shepherd
dear Lord that you have said over us
that you may make preaching easy dear
Lord Lord that the word will flow and
fall upon what we call receptive ears
bless those that are here and those that
are still on their way but also dear
father be with those who could not be
here today for whatever reason may be
but as always we serve an omnipresent
God who in all places yet at all times
we ask that you would be with them dear
Lord mold them shape them just as you
would us to be all that you have called
for us to be for it's in Jesus name that
we give this prayer amen
