Outlines
π§ Edifier 1280T Speaker Review
The speaker in focus is the Edifier 1280T, which is part of a series that includes the DB 1280 DB and the 1280 DBS. The speaker was purchased for $100 during Prime Day, and it remains at the same price post-event due to a $20 coupon. The review highlights the lack of clear naming conventions and the presence of digital inputs on the DB variant. The speaker's design is criticized for its aesthetics, particularly the front Port and the tweeter. The reviewer appreciates the analog knobs for volume and tone, and the overall sound quality, especially the bass performance. The speaker's remote is described as 'terrible' in terms of design but functional, with the ability to control a computer's media playback when paired with a fleer. The review ends with a sound demo and an appreciation for the speaker's sound performance despite its unappealing looks.
π Edifier Speaker Sound Quality and Remote Critique
This paragraph delves deeper into the sound quality of the Edifier speakers, comparing them favorably to other $100 speakers on the market, such as the Swan OS 10s and M4s. The remote control is again criticized for its shiny plastic design and narrow functionality. The speaker's 3D sound DSP feature is tested and found to be enjoyable, providing a different listening experience. The reviewer also mentions the speaker's digital amplification and the lack of a DSP to separate tweeter and woofer, which is a positive aspect for some listeners. The potential for customization with different wires and adapters is noted, and the overall sound performance is praised, especially when the speakers are covered, enhancing their appearance.
π’ Comparison of Edifier Models and Recommendations
The reviewer compares different Edifier speaker models, including the 1280T, DBS, and DB12, highlighting their popularity and positive customer ratings on Amazon. They discuss the availability of Swan speakers and their exceptional sound quality, which they liken to 'magic.' The paragraph also includes a discussion about the reviewer's intent to sell some of their OS10 speakers through a yard sale to make them available to those who might not be able to purchase them easily. The paragraph concludes with a commentary on the brand's reputation for producing high-quality, affordable speakers and a mention of a sound demo featuring a Billy Joel track.
π Edifier Speaker Reviews and Additional Thoughts
In this final paragraph, the reviewer reiterates their high recommendation for the Edifier speakers, based on the large number of positive reviews and ratings they've received. They compare the reliability of these speakers to that of a good Chinese food place, humorously suggesting that one should always opt for highly rated options. The reviewer also mentions their plans to potentially give away the speakers to their brother and ends with a series of plugs for Patreon, their Telegram group, and other sponsored links. There's a note about the removal of sound demos from YouTube and their availability to supporters, as well as a teaser for the next sound demo featuring the Housen OST.

stop God know one's too numy um
these These are edifier these are
edifier
1280 T's and I say that because there's
the t's T TS which is what these are
then there's the DB 1280 DB and then
there's a 1280 DBS unless they're the
same thing because there's just these
Nam and numbers nothing [Β __Β ] means
anything except the DB has
digital inputs which I guess is what the
d stands for I don't know what the b
stands for and the T does not these were
a $100 purchase on like Prime day and
guess what as of right now well after
Prime day they're a $100 purchase
because it's a $20
coupon and I grabbed them because Swan
OS 10s exist and when swans os10 exist
but then also don't exist they're like
like what's his name's cat
schinger Swan o10s are Schrodinger's cat
because if you come over here and I can
look at
them but can I touch
them see I can't I can't touch them cuz
they don't appear on Amazon
regularly so I'm like I got to find
something else that's in that that like
small like I want a desk speaker but
also could be using like a room and I
was going to buy the DB for the digital
input and I'm like a screw it it was
like $50 more I'll just get the regular
one and we'll test it and I could just
assume that the digital input will be
fine and guess what we're going to be
[Β __Β ] fine we're all going to be fine
everybody we're all going to be fine let
me roll my big blue
ball companies will fear Zeos and his
big blue ball um it's a small unit I
I'll I want to show you what's under the
covers but here's the thing these are
the ugliest speakers I've ever
seen and that's saying something cuz
I've witnessed the JBL Studio 400s 200s
whatever those asymmetrical ones were
they were horrible we're just going to
pick this up off the
stand um speaker wire out says to left
speaker which would normally be a
complaint of mine oh they can't pick
which side you want it on but since
we've only got RCA inputs you could just
reverse the RCA's and all of a sudden
this is now to left to right speaker out
so great you get your hardwired power
off here you got a [Β __Β ] attached
power cable like the OS 10s you get not
one but two sets of RCA inputs which is
nice uh claims like 46 wats per Channel
you got your side panel here which what
you would use when it's on a desk you
have a digital volume
[Music]
knob there's your mute actually I think
I just powered it off if you hold that
down it Powers off your little red light
goes
away Bas knob treble knob these knobs
are analog and you could feel them they
are nice and
smooth um I actually had the base down
for what I was doing here because where
I am or behind the scenes now that's
where zo sits in a big pile of soft
things um these try so hard to do lowend
and they do it but the problem the
problem lies
here please overt your eyes if you have
small children tell them to look
away oh God the music came on for
it that is is uh quite possibly one of
the uglier things I've ever seen first
of all our our cover has pegs so you're
not getting magnets so you have four
holes for that you've got this paper
cone which I actually like the look of
the paper cone it's got ridges kind of
like a a clip speaker would then you've
got your front Port which is the size of
a thumb and
flared this will throw air now if a bass
enough song comes on and you have the
base either flat or high you could be
sitting 6 feet away and it's like oh is
there a window open
cuz it is just Ching Air at you and it's
usually pretty quiet until it's not
which is why I have the Bas toned down
and you have that beautiful actual
waveguided Tweeter and then this ugly
[Β __Β ] hole drilled with the LED and
that's the infrared receiver for the
remote I I uh these look like they want
to be a speaker from the 70s that
actually people want to look at but it
ain't I like the wood the fake you know
vinyl wood paneling only on the sides
not the top and bottom and it just sort
of lines the front I like that
feature but we're going to cover it
again we're never going to look behind
this [Β __Β ] nightmare ever again we're
going to cover with actually grills that
have a a little detail that I've not
seen ever and it's just this little
metal strip they've just integrated a
little metal a little silver metal strip
ooh ooh o Art Deco straight Art Deco
looks beautiful so now if you had the
one if you had a DB or DBS which are
going to be linked in the description
you'd have a coax digital and a fiber
optic input and a different remote the
remote for this
is rather
terrible but it's kind of interesting
first of all it's shiny plastic all
around I haven't bothered to clean it
I've been using it for hours and days
you can see it is [Β __Β ]
disgusting um you get your power button
which will power the units down but not
the same as flipping the switch in the
back you get your up and down volume
controls here by the way very very
narrow scope you have to
like line that [Β __Β ] up to get it to do
anything I know that because if I raise
the volume
here and I do that I have the left and
right of the circle are set for Fleer to
use I mute for a
second and so there's nothing labeled
here they're not functional for the
speaker but there are two buttons here
and if you have a fler which is a little
infrared receiver you can program any
remote to do any controls in your
computer which like next track last
track so I could be like
boom but I got to
be like like boom you got to be a
marksman basically to make that
functionality work and then you got a
mute in the center which we have
enabled God American Gods is so
good oh you know what wait wait I want
to play music but copyright strike scary
times don't don't [Β __Β ] around but at the
same time I want to play music so don't
forget to check out my patreon And
subscribe star to hear the sound demo
which is already recorded for these they
was just sitting there I'm like all
right I'll do the sound demo and I
[Β __Β ] loved it it didn't compete with
like what other else I was sound demoing
but at the time but oh my [Β __Β ] God I
can't I need to need a mouse CU I need
to jump specifically to when he starts
singing St James Infirmary if you
haven't seen American Gods go I went
down to St J that's all you
get did you hear that were you
there and hold on I'm going to hit the
on button on this and I'm just
GNA hit the off
button so the last two buttons on this
remote they look like a picture of like
a like a signal like a Wi-Fi signal or
something they're
not this speaker which is 100 bucks
which does not have digital inputs has a
3D sound
DSP
that I actually kind of like it's not as
direct it doesn't give you like the
centering image like you normally get
with normal speakers but if you're just
like throwing this on the in a room on a
TV which obviously You' get the DB ones
and not these or on your computer if
you're sitting there if you're a little
bit close and you kind of want it to
just blend I am pretty [Β __Β ] shocked
at how good a $100 I'm putting it on I'm
hitting on it blinks every time you hit
on doesn't put it on more it just keeps
blinking
[Music]
now let's turn it off keep hitting
off that hardly changed anything
[Music]
but there's just a that is even if I
don't talk in detail about it that's
nice to have [Β __Β ] it you've got a you
got a a speaker you've got digital
amplification you've got the ability to
make it [Β __Β ] with it do it these
speakers when you leave the covers on
them and they become classy let me tell
you the speaker that speaker looks
classy it's just it's it's nice the
horror is hidden underneath it are
whisked away this is the wire it comes
with by the way it's a little was fine I
wasn't going to drop that at all it's a
little tiny wire I should have got out
those CES adapters to put in there but
um you can just replace this you go to
any hardware store or Lowe's or Home
Depot or cut up a lamp cord and you just
you can make them be as far apart as you
want you want to Route the wire down
under a carpet and over up you could do
that so one of the benefits of having
like a raw wire input I [Β __Β ] in it a lot
cuz I'm like just give me like a real
professional input how you control the
left and right dsps so that means there
is no DSP separating the Tweeter and the
mid-range or the Tweeter and the woofer
in this case because there's only one
set of wires going across so that is a
legit real speaker and any dsps are
being done for the entirety of the
Box um I don't think you're going to use
them a lot in like this sort of scenario
like have a living room and I want to
put them here you can notice I have them
quite a bit further up than I would
normally have speakers in this area but
that just means it's getting closer to
what like my desk which I should be
testing them on my desk I'm just not cuz
that computer is currently on the fritz
um so I'm testing here but I can tell
you that these sound way better than any
$100 speakers you can get besides the
swan OS 10s there are the m4s I will
also link the edifier m4s cuz his really
are those the only three brands is there
three brands that I can tell you to get
like a $100 speaker there's swans when
they're available d100s or os10 edifier
m4s the 1700 BTS or these what's the
third brand Micah micas are passive they
had a set of powered but they weren't
great is there a is there a third goto
brand for de Logitech logit no no no no
no no no there were good Logitech
speakers I don't think I've heard anyone
be like oh man you got to get there was
like what the Z5 something was at 5.1
using High VI
drivers these are a great little speaker
they just that's still they are they
don't need to be anything else I I
bought the one specifically without the
Dack built into it CU I'm like I'll just
throw a Dack on it I'll save 50 bucks if
you're buying it for even a computer I
would say invest in the one with the
with the optical input just to make it
easy on your life just to play with it
play with something look how small they
are I feel like I should be reviewing
these like on my
knees I will instead sit on zoos future
zoos link the TR dear um ball with the
with the the texture the textured grip
ball it's slightly smaller than the one
that's usually here so I can put my feet
up on it um I like these speakers a
[Β __Β ] lot these are these are a good
speaker to advertise the sound demos
because if you're like well do I want
these if you're a patron if you're a
subscrib subscriber for $5 a month you
get to hear them more than I'm doing
right now where the hell is this
remote this isn't a remote this is a
keyboard this isn't Canada this is anal
sex
what all right that's Mastiff acid
breather from cyberpunk so that's a lot
to be right here next to um I should
also point out I have turned the treble
up honestly turning the treble up op
just for a distancing if these were on a
desk you would run them zeros and zeros
and probably not at the volume they're
currently at uh the smsl su10 down there
is acting as our source because why
wouldn't you want to preempt these
speakers with a $900 deck what are you
lame got to go all the way
baby all right that's Viet ever Garden
I'm sure Sony owns it I'm going to jail
um which one am I on or off off see
that's the thing I don't even tell you
which one of these I prefer because I
change it every track sometimes I like a
track with it on sometimes I I can track
with it off either way it's it's a cool
little option I hate the fact this
remote control is just all shiny it's
like a designed to be held by a baby
like I don't know like a like a like a
femon old it's just going to put
everything in its mouth so they make it
just shiny plastic so that the bacteria
just slides right off that's how this
remote control
feels not into it but you can't can't
knock the sound edifiers are just the
they are as magic as you can get before
stepping on over onto Swan territory but
swans are like literally magic where I
have not seen them in forever I actually
did buy three sets of os10 to put in the
yard sale in the coming months because
I'm sure there're just going to be a
drought and I want to give people in
South Africa and Northern Europe chances
to buy them because I'm sure they can't
buy them at all so hopefully those at
least I don't want to sell those for
profit I'm selling those to just get OS
10s into people's
hands I'll put them in this month's yard
sale we'll see I think I heard the OS
10s are actually in stock right
now I
can't I know I got a thing for Billy
Joel so I can't even play Billy Joel
that was a pi that was not Piano Man in
fact I was just all I just
coughing and if fire just
constantly I was going to say offends me
they constantly offend me with how good
their cheap speakers are
I've used their like wireless headphones
and there I they had earbuds for a
little bit and edifier stuff like that
is is just it's just okay this is their
Lane somehow making a $100 speaker look
as good as it does and when you leave
this cover on it it looks good but then
it also performs really
well having it whip out just just
[Music]
this like the the the the low end com
out of the front Port I'll uncover it
again I hate doing
this the low one that comes out of there
is just kind of remarkable for the size
especially for like 40 Watts a total 40
Watts yeah these are these are a I don't
know if I call them a must buy but with
the number of of sales that I've seen
and reviews I've seen on [Β __Β ]
Amazon on wait where's my
Mouse um this particular pair the t's
18,617 reviews 4.6 Stars the DBS
4,265 ratings 4.6 stars and the St the
new I guess the newest one would be the
db12 the r 1280
DBS 2,916 reviews so that's 3,000 plus
4,000 it's 7,000 plus 18,000 is there's
like 26,000 ratings for these speakers
of 4.6
Stars that's like the Chinese food place
you don't go to is you know that's a
rule you always go to a Chinese food
place that's under four stars and it'll
be great Chinese food I don't know why
that is but it actually it's true I went
to a couple 3.8s and they're amazing so
yeah no recommend
highly I probably won't keep these
around I might see if my brother wants
to use them on his desk cuz he doesn't
have a lot of room it'll either be these
or those little drop speakers cuz those
are real small again those are 1/8 the
size which is why I'm so impressed by
those but yeah get megumin and
chuch in the uh wallpaper horde I'll
link to all the versions of this I'll
leave a link to these extremely nice
Kanto stands and uh what the [Β __Β ] we'll
we'll link to the S su10 uh deck in case
you want to throw a $900 deck in there
in a whole situation but yeah patrons
and subcribe our supporters see these
reviews early by several weeks now get
to those sound demos I was talking about
all sound demos have been deleted from
YouTube they're only available to
supporters now including all new ones
and all previous ones what the hell's
underneath here oh

metal okay um deal with that later
um yeah uh see reviews early participa
in yard sales
uh hair losses sound
