no signs of life or very little signs of

play00:17

life before we get going guys please

play00:19

play00:33

comment please feel free to I do try to

play00:35

play00:42

different ways of doing that first right

play00:44

below the video to the right hand side

play00:46

you'll see the super thanks button you

play00:47

can click on that you can select a tip

play00:49

amount here

play00:52

second way you can use your cash app

play00:54

find me at Dollar signpc helper you can

play00:57

leave a dollar amount and you can even

play00:58

leave a little note okay so now that's

play01:00

out of the way let's get into the

play01:01

project laptop computer I'm going to be

play01:04

using in this demonstration tutorial is

play01:06

going to be a Lenovo but all the parts

play01:07

of the same Parts you'll find in your

play01:09

brand computer okay so here's the

play01:11

computer not sewing on the first thing

play01:12

I'm going to have you do guys is just

play01:14

press and hold your power button down

play01:16

for up to one minute sometimes it's

play01:18

simply a communication issue so before

play01:21

you try anything more severe just press

play01:23

and hold that power button down for one

play01:24

whole minute if you guys would like any

play01:26

suggestions on any tools or supplies

play01:28

that I use in my shop you can check out

play01:30

this link above it'll be a link to my

play01:32

Amazon store on my Amazon store there

play01:34

are several sections here repair tools

play01:36

is one of them here you can find common

play01:39

hand tools that I use along with things

play01:41

like anti-static mats and bracelets that

play01:44

help prevent you from damaging your

play01:45

computer if that doesn't solve your

play01:47

issue now I'm going to have you move on

play01:49

to step two we're going to unplug your

play01:50

charger

play01:52

flip your computer over and if you can

play01:54

remove your battery

play01:57

foreign

play01:59

if you can remove your battery that's

play02:01

the better thing to do here it's a

play02:03

better way to perform this test if you

play02:05

can't remove your battery you can try

play02:07

doing this test without removing your

play02:09

battery for a lot of you it still may

play02:11

work if you do want to do this Tesla

play02:14

right way and your battery is internal

play02:16

and you can't get at it that easy

play02:18

there'll be a description or there'll be

play02:20

I'm sorry there'll be a video in the

play02:22

description below on how to access an

play02:25

internal battery or if you want

play02:27

step-by-step instructions for your

play02:29

computer leave me a comment with your

play02:31

brand and model and I can try to help

play02:33

you get into your specific computer

play02:35

but after you've removed the battery

play02:37

after you've unplugged your charger

play02:39

gonna flip your computer back over

play02:42

and you're going to press and hold that

play02:44

power button again for one minute so

play02:46

press and hold that for one minute

play02:48

a lot of times what happens is power

play02:50

will build up in various components in

play02:53

your computer that shouldn't build up

play02:55

there and that can interfere with the

play02:57

way it works even it turning on so

play03:00

hopefully by doing this we're draining

play03:01

the power from those components that

play03:04

should not have a power build up

play03:06

after you're done holding that down

play03:10

you can put your battery back in

play03:14

plug your charger back in

play03:18

and you can try turning on your computer

play03:21

again if that works for you leave me a

play03:23

comment let me know if not we're going

play03:24

to keep pressing on ahead if that

play03:26

doesn't get your computer turned on

play03:28

we're going to change it up a little bit

play03:29

we're going to remove the charger again

play03:33

remove the battery again

play03:39

we're going to press and hold for

play03:40

another minute

play03:43

and now we're just going to put one item

play03:46

back we're going to plug in your charger

play03:47

but we're going to leave your battery

play03:49

out try starting your computer

play03:52

if your computer starts up then great

play03:54

what you've done is you've identified a

play03:57

bad battery as the thing that's making

play03:58

your computer not turn on I would at

play04:01

that point replace it if you want any

play04:03

help finding the right battery for your

play04:04

computer let me know again leave me your

play04:06

brand and your model number I can help

play04:08

you out if that doesn't help your

play04:11

computer turn on then we're going to

play04:13

unplug your charger press and hold the

play04:15

power button for another minute

play04:19

and now we're going to put your battery

play04:21

back in

play04:24

and we're going to leave the charger out

play04:27

so we're going to kind of swap them and

play04:30

try the other one now try turning your

play04:32

computer on

play04:33

same thing as before if your computer

play04:35

turns on you've identified your power

play04:37

adapter as most likely faulty I would at

play04:40

this point replace your power adapter uh

play04:42

your battery's probably good one thing

play04:44

also to note guys if these things are

play04:46

not helping your computer try doing them

play04:49

a couple times try holding on the power

play04:51

button for one minute try that

play04:54

repeatedly try taking your battery and

play04:56

charge up try this process a couple

play04:57

times some of you may need that to fully

play05:00

drain the power one thing I did want to

play05:03

shout out guys about this power drain

play05:04

procedure if it happens every once in a

play05:07

while to a computer that's fine it's

play05:09

kind of an unfortunate normal thing with

play05:11

some Electronics however if you find you

play05:14

have to do this every time you need to

play05:16

start your computer there's a problem

play05:17

the first thing I would suggest make

play05:20

sure you're using your computer plugged

play05:22

into a surge protector and a healthy one

play05:24

not a super old one that's not working

play05:26

don't plug your computer directly into

play05:28

the wall all the time the surge

play05:30

protector will protect it from any bad

play05:32

power coming through also make sure your

play05:34

computer is not always plugged in and

play05:37

charging a battery to stay healthy needs

play05:40

to regularly discharge and charge if

play05:43

your computer is always plugged in and

play05:44

your battery is never getting that

play05:46

workout the battery is going to go bad

play05:48

and may start affecting your computer

play05:49

like this if you have checked both those

play05:52

off your list and your computer still

play05:54

needs this every time you start your

play05:56

computer there'll be a video link below

play05:57

in the description showing you how to

play05:59

test your charger to make sure it's good

play06:01

at that point you may want to consider

play06:03

replacing your charger or your battery

play06:05

next test I have you running this video

play06:07

is going to involve your RAM and just

play06:09

like your battery some of you may be

play06:11

able to easily access your RAM through

play06:13

one of those quick panels if not again

play06:16

leave me your brand and your model and I

play06:18

can help you get inside your specific

play06:20

computer to access your RAM if it's not

play06:22

easy so before getting into my computer

play06:24

the first thing I'm going to do is

play06:25

remove my battery make sure your your

play06:27

cable is unplugged we want as little

play06:29

power running through this computer as

play06:31

possible when you open it and if your

play06:33

battery is internal you want to take

play06:35

that out first thing when you get into

play06:36

your computer I'm just going to go

play06:38

around now and remove the screws to my

play06:40

panel

play06:42

so here are two Ram ports right there

play06:46

so most of you will see something like

play06:48

this you'll have two ramp ports some may

play06:50

only have one

play06:52

um basically what we're gonna do here

play06:53

guys is test for either a bad stick of

play06:55

ram a loose stick of Ram or even a bad

play06:58

Port so the first thing you want to do

play07:00

is take both of your RAM sticks out give

play07:03

the ram ports a good blow blow on them

play07:05

make sure it's clean and put your RAM

play07:08

sticks back in try starting your

play07:10

computer

play07:11

the way that RAM sticks usually set in

play07:14

there are two metal arms on either side

play07:16

they're held together by Springs so when

play07:19

you push those metal arms away the ram

play07:21

will release

play07:23

like that and then you just slide the

play07:25

rim out it's got a long Port short Port

play07:28

that's how it goes in there you can't

play07:30

put it in backwards it has to go in the

play07:32

right way so that's how you take your

play07:34

RAM out again take both your RAM out put

play07:37

them back in try starting your computer

play07:38

if your computer starts it could have

play07:41

just been loose it it happens

play07:43

um if your computer it doesn't start

play07:44

we're going to test for each Ram stick

play07:47

now so take one of your RAM sticks put

play07:50

it into one of the ports snap it in

play07:52

correctly make sure that it's secure try

play07:54

turning on your computer

play07:56

if your computer works you've identified

play07:58

the other Ram stick is bad if your

play08:00

computer doesn't work we're going to

play08:02

switch ports we're going to take it out

play08:05

put it in this port

play08:11

try starting your computer

play08:13

if your computer does not start then

play08:16

we'll take this Ram stick out and then

play08:18

put your second ram stick again I I only

play08:20

had one but you'd want your second ram

play08:22

stick try that in both ports see if it

play08:25

works try turning it on in in both ports

play08:29

if you only have one stick like I do

play08:32

um you can try just reseeding it you can

play08:34

try unplugging it plugging it back

play08:36

trying the computer and then moving it

play08:38

from one port to the next that that can

play08:40

test for that but you need another good

play08:42

stick to test it if if this is good if

play08:45

this Ram's bad you won't know

play08:47

um you need another stick of ram

play08:49

there'll be a video link below in the

play08:51

description on how to purchase the

play08:52

correct compatible RAM for your computer

play08:55

if you don't know how so for those of

play08:57

you who find out it's your RAM no big

play08:59

deal Ram's not one of the most expensive

play09:01

parts of a computer however it is a big

play09:04

factor in the speed of your computer so

play09:06

if you do have to replace your RAM may

play09:08

as well upgrade there'll be a video link

play09:10

below in the description showing you how

play09:12

you can find compatible Ram you can also

play09:15

leave me a message if you have any

play09:16

questions the third and last test I'll

play09:18

show in this video is how to perform a

play09:20

manual bios reset on your computer by

play09:23

temporarily removing your CMOS battery

play09:25

from your motherboard I'll show you that

play09:27

now so this is your CMOS battery it's a

play09:30

little round component here it looks

play09:32

like a watch battery inside it's wrapped

play09:34

in black electrical tape and it plugs

play09:36

into a port another common CMOS battery

play09:39

presentation is on this motherboard here

play09:42

that's another common way you can see a

play09:45

CMOS battery on a motherboard all you

play09:47

would do was is unplug it from the port

play09:49

don't pull on the wire just put your

play09:52

fingernails on either side of that thing

play09:53

and slide it out

play09:56

a little at a time Wiglet out and then

play09:58

you've unplugged it so that's a bios

play10:00

reset leave that unplugged for a while

play10:02

and then just plug it back in

play10:06

if you have this other kind of CMOS

play10:08

battery here

play10:12

uh the way to get this out is a spring

play10:15

here that holds it in and a spring

play10:17

underneath here that pushes it up so

play10:19

we're going to want to push this battery

play10:20

back and up be very careful though

play10:23

because this right here is very

play10:24

breakable if that plastic part snaps off

play10:27

then your battery won't be secure so

play10:29

just be very careful push in and up

play10:33

like that

play10:35

and it comes out like that and then

play10:37

again you would leave it out for a time

play10:38

and then you would slide it back in and

play10:40

snap it back down into place so those

play10:42

are the three tests I'm going to show

play10:43

you how to run on a dead computer in

play10:45

this video there's some of the easiest

play10:47

and some of the most common reasons why

play10:49

a computer is not starting that I find

play10:51

in my shop keep in mind you may have to

play10:54

try these steps multiple times in order

play10:56

to see results in some of your cases

play10:58

especially I'm talking about the power

play11:00

drain procedure you may have to try it

play11:02

two maybe three times to see a result in

play11:04

some computers however if you're still

play11:07

not seeing any new signs of life after

play11:09

these steps you're probably looking at a

play11:11

little heavier problem with your

play11:13

computer than what we've gone over

play11:14

you're probably looking at a weird bios

play11:16

issue a motherboard issue a motherboard

play11:19

component issue maybe like a power jack

play11:21

or something being bad I'll go more in

play11:24

depth into other causes other

play11:25

troubleshooting steps in my next video

play11:27

dealing with this problem thanks so much
