thus sayith your word we ask blessings

way for it's in Jesus name truly that we
give this prayer amen amen
amen well once again good morning to
each and every one of you and I know you
all are well prepared for today's lesson
and just to start off correctly I did
study the right lesson this week so I'm
on the right page this week thank you
Sandra with that being said also anyone
knows what Sunday this
is Palm Sunday Sometimes some things
slip by but today is Palm Sunday do we
all know what Palm Sunday is about
oh we just called it Palm Sunday anybody
know what is what is what is Palm
Sunday yep that's that that's that's it
that's part of it anything else we can
add to
it riding into
Jerusalem that's what's called Palm
Sunday this is the week leading up
what's called Holy Week in which Christ
came into Jerusalem and they were hail
him as being that of the king and they
gave him as we would called today the
red carpet treatment by laying out their
coats and their cloaks and they also
laid out Palm leaves as he roded into
Jerusalem and they Ked him as being that
of the king and all this leads into this
week which we call that of Palm Sunday
but today folks we are in the fourth
lesson of unit number one this is the
fourth lesson of a series of lesson that
have dealt with the overall concept of
that of Jesus Is God and God is Jesus as
we know we have been studying the uh
isdom of that of being that of the
Trinity And discussing the godhead of
the Father the Son and that of the Holy
Spirit and that of being in unity as
that of one and as we know in dealing
with this thing called the Trinity that
for non-believers it's very baffling for
believers it can be confusing but no
matter how you look at it in the end we
can only accept it on faith that it is
what it is because of our finite
thinking some things of God we can't
even begin to fully understand but God
says the day shall come when these
things truly shall be revealed unto you
now we have been dealing with Jesus Is
God and dealing with that the order of
the Trinity it also dealing with how
this is confirmed and in unit one it
deals with confirmed by power over that
of death now we De Jesus power over
death it was confirmed in lesson one
dealt with Jesus deity and Jesus deity
is that of his position his power his
authority his divin his Oneness in all
of itself and this lesson shows that
Jesus had power over death in that the
sin curse by Christ can be forgiven
because we know the word says When sin
has conceived is bringing forth but one
thing and that is death but Christ has
the power to forgive sin and therefore
we have access to life and life more
abundantly so therefore he has power
what we would say over that of death
then we moved into our second lesson of
the series of dealt with Jar's daughter
and the bleeding woman in dealing with
Jar's daughter you remember Jesus now
was going to this rule of the
synagogue's home and as he arrived there
the people were there they were mourning
the loss of this young girl and Jesus
goes into the house and when he goes in
he takes with him Peter James and John
and as he is there and sees the family
and all crying he said the maid is not
dead he said she only sleeps you
remember what happened after this what
what did the people say or what did the
people do rather it says they laughed
him to scorn other words they so muchat
ridiculed him like what is this man here
talking about and then it says at Christ
put them all out then the only ones was
left was Peter James and John and the
parents and he told them all they have
to do is just believe it said he put
forth his hand he says to the maid arise
and the word said that the spirit
entered again
into her body and she rose up the
significance of saying that the spirit
rose again into her body was showing
that she had actually died because as we
said
before death only comes about when the
spirit now has left the body we have
heard it many times when people said
that so and so died on the table so and
so died three times and they brought
them back in reality they never
died there were some we use the term
maybe clinically dead but the spirit has
not left the body
but doctors do have the opportunity in
the time to revive you or resuscitate
you because if you think about it if the
spirit now has left the body and that
doctor has brought that person back to
life now that doctor has what's called
deity has power has Authority and is as
God that you can actually bring life
back into that which is dead but no man
has that power only God only Jesus has
that Authority but here you'll find that
Jesus now raises this girl up and he
tells them to do what anybody
remember after he raised what was his
next words to
them he said feeder but then what else
after that you're right I missed that
part feeder but what after that
what tell don't tell anybody and the
purpose for them don't tell anybody
because you didn't need to tell them
because at this point she was now what
we would call a living testimony they
would see for themselves that Jesus
truly is God
we move beyond that lesson to go to the
next one we have last week was that of
raising of Lazarus we know that story
very well word had been sent now to
Jesus that Lazarus and whom he loved
because he loved Mary Martha and Lazarus
all them were siblings but they said
that Lazarus was dying and they wanted
Jesus to come and as we know Jesus
delayed his coming until 4 days later
and when he arrived on this fourth day
as we know Martha came to see him and
said said if you had been here my
brother would not have died we know we
moved by her Mary then came and said if
you had been here my brother would not
have died and you remember even his
disciples uh themselves were wondering
about this thing and Jesus told them
that he glad for their sakes he wasn't
there that the Son of God May yet now be
glorified that they can see that he
truly is God and has power of that of
over death and as we know when he
arrived Jesus said where they laid him
and when Jesus goes to the tomb he said
roll away the stone they said wait a
minute he's been in there 4 days already
the significance of that as we talked
about last week was that Jesus
intentionally delayed his coming for 4
days and I believe because of the custom
they had during their time is that when
someone would die in the nation of
Israel they had this belief that the
spirit would hover or stay near the body
for 3 days and had the opportunity to
return but Jesus waited 4 days before he
came because we know that it was only
some 15 furlongs away and you'll find
when you look at a map Bethany from
Jerusalem is only two miles it takes
nobody four days to travel two miles so
Jesus intentionally waited till that
time and then Jesus cries with a loud's
voice Lazarus come forth and the next
thing we see is that of Lazar walking
out of the Tomb showing once again that
he had power over that of death
and that leads us to the lesson we have
today of the crucifixion of that of
Jesus and it's funny too how sometimes
things can line up in the right way what
I mean by that is we had a series of
lessons we have today and last week's
sermon that lead up to these things that
we're talking about today and that of
next week if you remember last week when
pastor preached let's see how Keen we
are on this what was the pastor's titled
his message last
week oh he's not here go y'all can talk
nobody remember the title of the message
last
week let's try another one you remember
what book he came out
of last week's
sermon I hear John I hear
Matthew oh somebody must got notes over
there there we go Rend Jackson told us
about those notes right take notes not
naps but you find his message last week
was that of accepting God's will which
came out of the Gospel according to
Matthew and what that lesson dealt with
you remember I'm sorry sermon dealt
with we're leading up to what's called
Holy Week the Passover had taken place
Jesus now had taken the Passover with
his disciples and he said to them one of
you shall betray me and they begin to
ask one another is it I is it I is it I
and Jesus say is the one that I give to
supp with me that is the one and then he
said he passes up to Judas and you'll
find that when you combine all the
gospels together um to get the
understanding of his story he then tells
Judas what thou doest doest thou quickly
because Jesus know he had already sold
him out Judas now leaves and they think
he leading to take care of some business
then at that point Christ takes the
disciples with him outside to what's
called The Garden of city and as he gets
there he tells his disciples to wait
here but he tells once again his inner
circle Peter James and and John come on
a little further with me they go further
and Jesus said now you three wait and be
on watch because he know the betrayals
are coming and Jesus goes to praise to
his father and Jesus desire was this
that this cup would pass away from me
but then he gave these words which
brought forth the pastor sermon but not
my will thine will be done other words
accepting the father's will as we know
as he s goes forward that that's when
Judas comes now with the authority you
could say and they came as if they was
coming for a
criminal and Judas had told them the one
that I kiss that's the one you apprehend
and when he came to Jesus and kissed him
on his cheek Jesus said Judas thou
betray us me with a kiss probably quot
Judas off God that Jesus already knew
that he was the betrayer just for 30
pieces of
silver then they apprehend Jesus and as
we know they Carri him to the uh they
actually the official priest at that
time was ananas um they installed a I
guess you call a
puppet high priest but we'll cover that
in later times but they C him first to
ananas who was tried before him then
they car him before caias who was tried
before him then they took him to ponus
Pilot who ponus pilot didn't believe
anything they were saying but then ponus
realized that wait a minute he's of
Galilee uh he doesn't come to me take
him back to Herod they took him to Herod
Herod was looking forward to see seeing
Jesus cuz he've heard many things about
him Herod sees nothing wrong here Herod
sends him back to ponus palet ponus
palot says on three separate occasions I
find no fault in this man but they kept
saying this crucify him crucify him
ponti pil said there is one that we
always let a prisoner go during your
your Feast so this man named barabus
would let him go they said no we want
barabus I mean Jesus to stay prisoner
let barabus go but wanted to be
crucified this is when Pontius pilot
then had them bring to him a basin and
the saying is used even to this day he
put his hands and wash them in the Basin
and he said my hands are washed of us
his blood shall not be on my hands and
the people said The more well let it be
on our hands and on our children's hands
and pilot says then you take him and we
know they take Christ they do all the
horrible things to them they beat him
and
whatnot and after they beat him they
then um have him to carry his own cross
and as he's carrying the cross by being
beaten in the manner which he was he
couldn't really Carry the Cross because
he was fully God but also fully what
fully man that's when they had the
assignment of serini to carry the cross
the rest of the way but as they get
there this is what brings to our lesson
we are today which also leads into next
week which is Holy Week leading up to
Resurrection Sunday which we'll discuss
that that next week but that leads to
our lesson today the crucifixion of
Jesus if you're using the Bible we're
coming out of Luke the 23rd chapter
starting at verse
33 now as you can see 32 verses are
missing
correct there's no need to be going back
over any of that because I've already
gave you pretty much the summary leading
into where we are going at this
particular point of the lesson so now
we're dealing with Jesus and that of his
crucifixion it starts off by saying and
when they were come to the place which
is called Calvary There They Crucified
him and the manactors one on the right
hand and the other on the left it starts
all by saying and when they came anybody
know who the they are CU see this all
about a setting that you're put in place
who are
they small word but important
word the
Pharisees
non-believers accusers
you name it put it way you name it
everybody was there that's the day you
know in today's world we always joke
about this ministry we have it's called
they I have never figured out Anthony
who is the president of they but that
Ministry is in every Church they did
this they said that they're doing this
they're doing that the list goes on on
even here you see they are there again
it says they they are multiple people
remember Jesus was considered I used the
term a mega preacher if everybody knew
who he was Herod when they brought him
to him as a criminal Herod looked at him
as a superstar Herod said I've been
dying to see this man to hear him talk
about some things wherever Jesus went
remember last week it said a crowd
thronged they pressed against him
everywhere he went and just let's be hon
us a few days ago he's come riding into
Jerusalem they're throwing at the Palm
leaves everybody calling him the king
and guess what just that quick what do
we have going on now they want to
crucify him so everybody's there to see
this to them the entertainment the
spectacle they going on but also keep in
mind you do have Believers there people
who there truly following him so you had
Believers you had non-believers you had
the Jewish Authority you had multitude
of folks that were there Roman soldiers
and so he said when they had come to the
place which is called
Calvary yah had anybody debate you about
things in the Bible where they try to
find some kind of I guess you say fault
with the Bible and they want to
contradict this or contradict that you
know I've seen things such as this they
said well I got a problem with the Bible
here here it says they went to the place
and what place is this
Calvary well why some of them said no
it's called Mount Calvary then some said
no it's called gol gotha I always son to
go immediately pass all that I said but
did it say he rose up all of them say
that but they try to find the small
things but here's where the setting that
we have today comes in handy at because
we are here in what Sunday School and we
all are here what to learn you'll find
in your
studies you have to look at the words
the writers of the words and which
translation you're using when it says he
went to
Calvary Calvary is a Latin word it means
skull or place of death this is where
they put forth executions at so people
could see publicly what was going on
Mount Calvary is the same thing because
Calvary set on a a mount they said well
well does gotha comes from well gotha is
an Aramaic word that the Hebrews would
use and it means skull or place of death
so it basically depends upon who's
writing the text one of them maybe use
Latin One is using the Aramaic form but
Calvary and golgatha both mean the skull
or a place of death so there is no
contradiction here but this place that
they're carrying him at is a place
that's on the
highway the significance of being on the
high highway is that what goes on here
everybody sees what's happening you know
it's put on public spectacle like it's
like certain um things you'll find
they'll put them on the highway so you
can see them for example Anthony you
probably testify to this a lot of holid
davidon dealerships now when they build
a Harley Davidson dealership especially
a new one they try to find a spot near
the highway that way when everybody
rides by guess what they can see
it uh L was traveling back and forth to
Nashville um for a job hotel called The
Jewelry if you ever see a Drury Hotel
guess where it's going to be on the
highway so everybody can see it Richmond
built one here couple years ago right
there in the short PP and they always
put their hotels where they can be seen
here you'll find
Calvary Goa was on a mount where
everybody could see what was going on
and here you find said they were come to
the place which called calary where they
did What They Crucified
him what is
crucifixion what's the purpose of it
it's
killing it's
execution it's basically I guess you
could say it's the Roman form of capital
punishment and capital punishment is
used for what
purpose yeah is used supposed to be our
deterrent to crime
other words if you do this crime over
here this is what can happen to you it's
like with um police officers you shoot a
police officer typically automatic
capital punishment it's put in place so
you don't shoot a police officer here
you'll find that this form of punishment
was put in place to deterior Crime some
said the Romans started crucifixion but
if you look crucifixion up crucifixion
was around long before the Romans some
would said the Phoenicians were the
first ones who started this this was a
small little place um actually west of
Damascus you will find that Herod
crucified many peoples they even show it
as priest in Judah crucified over 80
people in history so crucifixion was
nothing new but the Romans had truly
perfected it in other words they would
do it in in different ways one way they
would execute is one we all know about
is that they would bring you for your
crucifixion they would have a cross
already on the ground
they would lie you down on the ground
they would either nail you to that cross
or they would tie you to the Cross some
said the time was worse and I'll explain
that in a moment but with Christ they
would nail him to the cross and they
have a little small
ledge for your feet to stand on but it
would be closer to your body so you
couldn't stand straight up you had to be
bent over like this uh that aides and
the the you could say the horrific dep
that you were put upon then they would
lift you up on that cross
and drop it in the ground where
everybody would see you and you would
just hang there until you
died they didn't rush it you would just
hang there until you would succumb to
the injuries and so on now when it comes
to tiing on the cross some said that was
even worse because you didn't go through
all the pain all the bleeding and so on
but you're just tied up there you last a
lot longer that way so whereas some
would say where as merciful here you
might have went through all this
horrific beating but you're going to die
pretty quick
but they just tie you up there that's a
slow long death where you just stay
there later you'll find it says they had
this um different execution some said
Peter started they called the uh the
Petrino yeah patrino Cross or someone
call it the upside down Cross or the
inverted cross where when they wanted to
kill Peter Peter said crucify me upside
down because I'm not worthy to die in
the same that Christ has so they would
put the cross upside down today that's
that's been
hijacked usually atheists and
anti-christians use that cross and they
use it as a symbol of that of worshiping
even Satan himself a lot of the heavy
metal rock bands you look at their CD
cover or whatever they have a cross on
the back upside down signifying they are
anti-christians or worship Satan and so
on from there but there was different
forms once again for executions in
crucifiction but it was horrific and the
Romans had perfected it but also with
this crowd of there you see how fickle
they
are just think about it just a day or
two earlier couple of days earlier
rather really they were hailing this man
as king of the Jews and just like that
everybody flipped and went another
Direction you don't see where anything
is written in scripture with the crowd
that said protested it everybody just
went along with it but here you'll find
that the Savior was put upon the cross
where they crucified him now when it
comes to crucifixion you know even to
this very day there are Jews who would
said they had nothing to do with the
crucifixion because crucifixion was a
Roman form of punishment so it was who
who killed Jesus as they said it was the
Romans that killed him they that's a
Roman
punishment do you believe
that you had everything to do with it
you were the ones who boarded
about ponus pilot said three times I
find no fault in this man let him go
remember Pon P wife even said I had a
dream about this man said don't do
anything to him but yet the people said
crucify him crucify
him the Apple doesn't fall for from the
tree these same type things go on today
where you're involved this crucifixion
but you say you're not it's like I would
like to use some things about the us a
lot of times I give you two it's like um
is that World War II when um December
the 7th 1947 Pearl was bomb remember
that it said that brought the United
States into
what into war so the bombing of Perl
Harbor brought the United States into
the
war
really our allies was fighting Mike
we're sending them bombs plane money
tanks ammunition but we said we have
nothing to do with this
war then when we were attacked then we
said now y'all cause us to be in
it
it's kind of like today with the US and
Israel we all know what went on with
Israel right Hamas made the attack of
course Israel and Palestinians don't
really get along anyway but it was a
militant group that attacked Israel
Israel now is attacking what all of
Palestine and who the biggest supporter
of Palestine I mean of
Israel the United States so what do we
do we going to send food over there we
going to build a bars to feed these
folks but at the same time we give them
all the equipment all the bombs all the
bullets together but we have nothing to
do what's going on over there but on the
other side we're trying to say we going
help feed
y'all oh you have a lot to do with it
the children of Israel have to
understand that they were't instrumental
in bringing about Christ's death which
was a good thing because in the end
guess what it wasn't Christ's will God's
will if he hadn't went on that cross
what would our Salvation be
today but yet they deny having any part
to do what what transpired and he says
where he were crucified and the malif
factors one on the right hand and the
other on the left what's a malactor
it's criminal one on the left it says
and one on the right the sism of that is
that scripture has said that he would be
numbered with the
transgressors Isaiah spoke of these
things of how they would crucified he
would hang upon a tree which the cross
is a tree and he was nailed with the or
numbered with the transgress these two
criminals that he was between and these
are the ones guess what he came to do
what save and is interesting note you
look at the gospels at one point both
individuals spoke out against Christ but
the one on the right I like put this way
he came to his senses and realize the
situation uh in teach they would tell
you had two types of criminals up there
one was the impenitent thief and one was
the penitent Thief impenitent basically
means one who is uh you could say non-
remorseful one who's not sorry for what
it is they have done one who is
unforgiving whereas the penitent one is
the one who asks for
forgiveness and as we know one of them
basically told Christ said remember you
when you get in your kingdom and Jesus
said they you shall be with me in
Paradise the other one didn't say
anything about you will find in the
supplements as Pastor Jackson would say
there's no substitute for the Bible but
there are supplements in some of the
supplements they even tell the names of
these two individuals they say the one
on the left was name was gastos that was
the one that spoke out against Christ
continually the one on the right name
was dimus he was the one that asked for
forgiveness but you won't find these
names shall we say in the out Bible we
have but they are in the writings that
they give their names of who these
individuals were but in pertaining to
the scriptures he will be numbered with
the transgressors and here he's numbered
with these criminals on the cross one on
the right hand and the other on the left
it says then said Jesus father forgive
them for they know not what they
do Jesus now speaks out he speaks to who
the father we have the father and the
son here Jesus now talking to his father
and he asked to forgive them he said
they know not what they do now typically
when you don't know what you're doing
that's called
what it was a nice word for
it ignorance because you don't know but
here you got to be a little bit harsh
with this one they did this Jesus said
if KN not what they do I would like to
say they did not know what they were
doing because of
stupidity keep in mind their whole life
they're waiting for
who their whole life they're looking for
who their whole life they're being
taught in the synagogue about
who Jesus the Savior the whole time when
he finally comes what do they do he's
standing right before them they know his
actions they know all the things he done
and they said crucify him you remember
even when Jesus we hav chance to cover
all this even when Jesus was in trial
they asked how do you answer these
things Jesus said ask these people what
I've done they're my Witnesses they know
remember they smacked him in his face
for saying that and all they was saying
was you want a witness well here's the
witnesses right here they can tell you
all the things that nothing but good but
yet even though it was nothing but good
still they wanted him him to be
crucified and they wanted to kill him
this whole time he stood right before
them but Jesus still says forgive them
for they know not what they do Jesus at
this time is not thinking about his I
guess you say his emancipation he's
thinking about their
salvation so let me turn this thing
around to you
guys think about the situation how would
you handle
this you have been arrested
falsely you have been beaten almost at a
point of an inch of your life people now
are all speaking out against you it even
talks in script how they spat on him
they mocked him they joked him and what
does he say forgive
them could you do
that would you do
that I got a answer in the back Naomi
says no way in the
world Mike says no way any
others
y'all don't want to talk this
morning come on I don't think none of us
none of us in you be forgiving let like
oh no no no no this is not going to
happen we have to get to that point now
Christ taught up to that point remember
how many times you forgive your
brother which means how many
times yeah you just keep on going he
don't put a limit on he say no matter
what you can forgive them and what he on
the cross he gives us that exact same
example of what has happened he said
forgive them but here's the thing Naomi
we are work in progress they said we
haven't got there yet but we want to be
there but we just have not got there yet
but it's interesting how Christ these
are the ones he came to save you know
the ones that are cheering for him the
ones who lift him up they're fine CU he
said before those that are whole do not
a position but I have come for those
that are sick so these ones that are
spinning at him these are the ones he
said I need to
save but if it put up to us I think
y'all going straight to you know well
cuz I don't think you getting saved here
today but here you'll find that Jesus
still his mindset is about his father's
business and that is to bring forth
salvation for all that are in need of
Salvation and you can see here there he
is a world that's truly in need of
Salvation we talked earli how things
haven't changed much as he hangs upon
this
cross people were there just watching
right we'll see it as the next verse it
says and the people stood beholding him
just get a hit of myself a little bit
they were still there just watching
could you watch something like
that a person been been beaten to the
point you can't recognize him Swit talk
about how the hair was pulled out of his
beard you you couldn't recognize and
everybody sitting there watching could
we watch
that we might not going watch it but the
world
can you almost saw it not long ago let
me give you an example
January
six remember they attacked the
capital people forget this part they
built a Gallow with a noose and their
goal their intention was remember all
the waters were watching I was at home I
watch this thing live I'm sitting there
got my little chips and drink going this
a movie I can't believe what's going on
this fool was breaking through windows I
watched it as it unfolded and they their
goal was that we going to get Pence and
we're going to drag them out of here and
we going to hang him in front the
world people haven't changed that much
got some sick folk out
there world just watched you the things
that go on today you know find that
things haven't changed but so much but
Jesus says father forgive them for they
know not what they do and it says and
they parted his reignment and cast lots
this deals also with prophecy this deals
with the Roman soldiers now Jesus had a
robe that was sing
it's just one solid robe they desired to
have it so now they're gambling for his
clothes that he has because one of the
things they did with someone of the
trufi was they stripped him now we know
in photos that are artist drawings they
show Christ in PL with clothes on some
say you had any clothes on when they
strip you they stripped you so the whole
world could see you up there bear but
here these soldiers wanted his clothes
and now they're gambling over what it is
that he has left it says and the people
stood beholding and the rulers also with
them deriding him saying he save others
let him save
himself the rulers these are your
leaders of the people the elders in the
community the people you uphold with the
greatest of respect even these people
are leading by their example by
basically speaking out against
Christ if you think about his life can
you find one bad thing they can say
about
him can't find any bad thing that he
ever said their whole reason for
crucifying for was
what was that his main crime they they
brought against
him now there was more than one crime
but I put the main
one Bingo remember our theme Jesus Is
God God is Jesus that was the charge
that he's saying that he is the Son of
God of course later you try to see he
was King and kept people one king and
that's
but yet at this point this is the only
thing they can say against him that he
calls himself the Son of God in reality
we all can say that we all are God's
children but they were looking for
anything they could just to say crucify
this man just to kill this man and it
says as he goes on said he save others
let him save himself if he be Christ the
what the chosen of God because they know
Jesus name of Christ means God anointed
or the appointed of God they know in the
Hebrew Aramaic that Messiah means the
anointed or the appointed of God and
they say if he be God chosen let him
save himself but you know what I thought
about in that situation suppose he had
came off that
cross what you say
Alan you you think about it if he had
came off that cross they said if you be
the children of God save yourself what
would they have even said it could you
think about the situation now oh this is
God chosen oh this is God's son now
what's going to happen you have now
harmed God's
son what would they have said it makes
you wonder they probably would have
instantly dropped to their knes asking
themselves for
forgiveness it's like those uh those
movie scenes you've seen before where a
son or young man get beaten nearly to
death and then they find out his father
is somebody somebody that you don't play
with somebody that may come back after
you so here you'll find that if they say
if you are the children of God save
yourself you save others and when they
when he use those words how he saved
others that should give them testimony
of how good he's been all he did was
save people through whatever he went
through but yet he is being crucified
upon this cross it says and the soldiers
also mocked him coming to him and
offering him vinegar which basically
also speaks to scripture itself and how
they gave him miror and uh whatnot uh
to quiet his pain you could say to a
certain degree but what they're dealing
with here is the soldiers also mocked
him so this goes back to the first text
when it says and they came you see all
the different people there and all you
have is people that are mocking him
speaking out against him saying all sort
of matter of falsehoods about him and
Jesus only words is Father forgive them
for they know not what they do it says
and saying if thou be the king of the
Jews save thyself
verse 38 says in a subscription also was
written over him in letters of Greek and
Latin and Hebrew this is the king of the
Jews so they put it there in the various
languages for people coming by everybody
know what your crime was and that was
customary for all criminals they would
put up there what they had did you look
in the other Gospels it saids they even
protested this when it says this is the
king of the Jews they said no you need
to change
that so got it right they told pilot
said you put up there he said he's King
of the Jews and pilot words them was
I've written what I've written and
that's what it's going to be and this is
the king of the Jews then it says and
one of the malactor which was hang
rallied on him saying if thou be Christ
save thyself and
us this thief might have been a crazy
man but he knew why to save himself
didn't he he's speaking out against
Christ he said but hey what if you going
to save yourself save me too other words
I want want to come down off of this in
the supplement they said this man name
was gastos he was the impenitent thief
other words a non-for forgiving one but
here he desires to be saved not because
he believes but just that if Christ G to
save have save him also but it says but
the other answering him rebuked
him so that's part they often miss this
man whose name is they say the
supplement is didmus or some call him
didus didus now not only talked to
Christ but first of all he did one thing
he rebuked who the other Thief rebuke
means you shut them down other words he
went back against him he came against
him said how can you say such things as
this rebuke saying does thou not fear
God and seeing thou are in the same
condemnation other words you're in the
same condemnation you ought to fear God
which you ought to respect God he says
and we indeed justly for we receive the
due reward of our
Deeds that's the first thing about a sin
has to recognize is what that you have
sin and he's being honest he things you
know it's easy to say oh I didn't do
this crime but he said no we up here
because oh we're guilty for what we done
and we're in the same situation as he is
so the understand what it is or what
situation that they have done and said
we have received justly the reward for
our Deeds but he says this but this man
have done nothing a Miss even the thief
could see this man wrong remember one of
the statements pilot made was why did
pilot say the Pharisees and the
Sadducees and the scribes why they were
crucified
him pilot said it on several occasions I
know why you brought him here you might
remember the reason we talked about this
before he said because of Envy is the
only reason you arrest him and one of
the definition of envy is that you
desire what somebody else have but you
don't want them to have it but you want
it because remember they want to be like
Christ Christ had it said taught with
power and authority not as the scribes
so people go wait a minute everybody's
following us but then they following
this man they wanted that type of Glory
to be placed upon them but they didn't
want Christ around to share in it other
words I want it just for myself whereas
jealousy a little bit different jealousy
is I'm jealous what you have and I want
it too eny is I'm jealous of what you
have I want it but I don't want you to
have it I want it all for myself P said
the only reason you wrestless man
because of
eny you want what he has you don't want
him to have it I find no fault in him he
said it three separate times but each
time they said nevertheless condemn him
and it said he said to Jesus Lord
remember me when thou comest into thy
kingdom now remember the Jews were
expecting what type of
Kingdom what were they looking for when
when Christ came riding
in no matter know what kind of Kingdom
they were looking for an Earthly Kingdom
he going to rule and sit on the throne
like
Caesar this thief had to understanding
said when thou come into thy kingdom
he's talking about that Heavenly Kingdom
so this man now has confessed that he
has sined he believes in Christ and
called him Lord and he says when you
come into your kingdom all he says is
just remember me other words think about
me you could even said to point of
praying for me and Jesus said to him
verily I say unto you which means what
truly I say unto you now had Jesus ever
lied to this point if he said it he
going to carried it out Jesus said here
truly I say unto you today Thou shalt be
with me where in paradise and another
term for them in Paradise is what it's
Heaven it's not the Garden of Eden it's
Heaven itself so Jesus saiding today oh
when you die when that Spirit leaves
that body to be absent from the body to
be what Lord Jesus say you gonna be with
me in Paradise so lets us know that even
up to your last moment if you are truly
repentant you are sorry within your
heart and you ask for forgiveness guess
what you can't be
saved even though you might have done
wrong all up to that point but now you
realize you've done wrong and Jesus
knows your heart he says you can't be
saved he tells that Thief today you
shall be with me in Paradise so even at
that very Point all the people are
ratted against them we know at least one
received their salvation at least one it
says and it was about the sixth hour and
there was Darkness over all the Earth
until the ninth hour
and now day in time what time is that
from the 6th hour to the 9th
hour well see they do their time in 12h
hour days it starts at 6:00 in the
morning so the 6th hour is
12:00 the ninth hour is 3:00 and it says
everything went dark it was no eclipse
at that time uh um but you find
everything went dark for a purpose we
know what that purpose was for remember
might I said in this scripture here what
it doesn't say in the scripture here
that Jesus said father why Thou forsaken
me when it went dark that symbolizes now
God has turned his back on Jesus now why
would God turn his back on him and Jesus
make that statement why you forsaken me
him being fully man says that what
happened
there he represented sin Jesus
represented sins of this world God was
showing that he has nothing to do with
sin that to point that even my own son
I'm G turn my back on
him then the world Drew dark because
Jesus represented sin at that very point
and it was dark like I said from 12 to 3
that evening it said the sun was
darkened and the veil of the temple was
rent in the
midst we know why the veil was rent
right there was a separation between man
and God that they had to put the veil in
the priest could come in light the
candles and do the prayer and so on he
couldn't go into the holy of holies past
the veil but one time a year to give the
atonement
sacrifice and the priest was your
mediator to God give prayers on your
behalf but now Christ have came no
longer do you need to go through the
priest the veil is now ripped other
words he's done away with that now you
just go through Jesus and you have
access to the father so no more that old
stuff is now in place and this why the
veil was wrent in the midst from the top
to the bottom as the word says and when
Jesus had cried for a loud voice he said
father into thy hands I commend my
spirit and having said this he gave up
the ghost so as we see did anybody kill
Jesus he gave his life up freely he says
later on I got power to lay it down and
I got power to pick it back up it says
now when the Centurion saw what was done
he glorified God saying certainly this
was a righteous man now see in script we
have you have Luke they don't tell you
the whole story if you look at the whole
story when he died or it was dog the
Earth shook lightning came forth uh
Souls were some of the Dead even came
from the graves all all sorts of things
went on to the person said whoa this has
to be someone here this has to be the
Son of God and said this was a righteous
man and all the people that came
together to that site behold the things
which were done smoke their breasts and
return other words they're showing a
sign of remorse and sorrow but didn't
say anybody was believing at that point
for what was happening but we close out
with in all his acquaintances and the
women that follow him From Galilee stood
a fall off beholding these
things now these individuals stood from
a distance we know that even at one
point Christ um had told John to take
have his mother but all that brings up
in next week lesson when we're dealing
with Resurrection Sunday now next week
I'm explain to you Resurrection Sunday
is one thing and Easter is another we
have to do like the children of Israel
always do whenever festive days come
about they celebrate them but they also
give the history of why they celebrate
them in the manner and way in which they
do so next week we'll be discussing that
in our opening what is Resurrection
Sunday and what is actually this thing
called Easter you'll find there are two
separate things the thing I do love
about it is that it takes time for
things to change but I hear more and
more people saying on this particular
day they'll say Resurrection Sunday
which is the correct term and I do
understand the other side is when we
going to play with the kids we're going
east egg hunting and things of that
nature because nobody in here is
worshiping any false gods other words I
like to look at this where you took a
known bad and turned into something good
it's just something that's for the kids
but we'll explain all that come next
Sunday and dealing with that subject
matter but once again your lesson for
next week deals with the resurrection of
Jesus still coming out of the go Gospel
According to Luke and as you can see the
writer kind of jumps around a little bit
but I would say read the whole chapter
that way you have a better understanding
because many things I will bring up is
not part of your printed text but it
actually is part of the lesson that we
had before us so with those words being
said it's time for us now to close out
and go into the worship service I ask Di
and Hall if you will give us a closing
word to bring us into our worship
service
