Transcripts

play00:00

well I for one have had enough of

play00:07

this hi my name is Sydney welcome back

play00:10

to hell and as per usual before we

play00:12

launch in today's video is sponsored by

play00:15

fume now firstly before we get into the

play00:18

important stuff with relation to this

play00:19

video I want to apologize for

play00:22

disappearing for the last few months I

play00:24

won't lie a bunch of things were going

play00:26

on I guess they still are going on uh in

play00:28

my personal life that uh that have not

play00:30

been excellent such as familial deaths

play00:34

and um really not epic medical diagnosis

play00:39

diagnosis diagnosis the point is these

play00:41

things have required my attention and um

play00:45

being that I am a regular human being

play00:47

they do affect me and sometimes you just

play00:50

you got to take a break the other thing

play00:52

that I would like to say is the biggest

play00:53

of thank yous to everybody who placed a

play00:56

lion te exchange order and then all of

play00:58

the kindness and Pence patients that

play01:00

went along with that while we worked

play01:02

through some of the very unforeseen and

play01:05

very annoying issues that we experienced

play01:08

during launch because no matter how much

play01:10

you try to plan and do everything

play01:12

correctly life will still kick you in

play01:13

the face write that down put it on a

play01:16

shirt the point is thank you so much for

play01:18

your support thank you so much for your

play01:20

orders thank you the most for your

play01:22

patience I mean I really mean that thank

play01:24

you so much for your patience and uh

play01:26

it's been really rewarding reading your

play01:27

feedback now that most of you have

play01:29

received your tee

play01:30

I'm really really excited with how

play01:32

excited you guys are and uh yeah I'm

play01:34

looking forward to Growing this thing

play01:35

and doing much more cool stuff all right

play01:37

enough disclaimers onto the video now if

play01:39

you've been here for any length of time

play01:41

you will probably already know how I

play01:43

feel about the Erasure of women you also

play01:46

probably know that I know that you are

play01:48

very burned out by this topic at this

play01:50

stage and honestly that's pretty fair

play01:52

enough it actually feels like every time

play01:54

we turn around there is some new

play01:56

component to the trans debate that is

play01:58

dominating everybody's attention and

play02:00

after a while and I think most of us are

play02:03

here at this stage it's exhausting and

play02:05

although it's no less important now than

play02:08

it was when it initially started

play02:09

cropping up there's only so much a

play02:11

person can tolerate before you just want

play02:13

to throw yourself into the sea I am

play02:15

extremely scared of the ocean and at

play02:17

this point I am ready to throw myself

play02:19

into it but something happened recently

play02:21

with relation to this topic that I think

play02:24

is really important to highlight and to

play02:26

discuss for a number of reasons and it

play02:28

concerns the Australian Surfer brand Rip

play02:31

Curl choosing a transgender male as one

play02:33

of their new brand ambassadors now I get

play02:36

it at this point it seems like every

play02:38

single notable brand has decided to work

play02:41

alongside a transgender person but the

play02:43

reason this particular situation is a

play02:46

complete train wreck is because Rip Curl

play02:49

cut ties with a well-known Surfer called

play02:51

Bethany Hamilton in November 2023 after

play02:54

she publicly stated her opposition to

play02:56

gender ideology policies that allow

play02:58

males to compete compete in women's

play03:00

sports and specifically that allow men

play03:03

to compete in female surfing

play03:05

competitions so I want to explain the

play03:07

ins and outs of this situation because

play03:09

honestly the more you get into it the

play03:11

worse it gets but I also want to

play03:13

highlight the reality that an actual

play03:15

woman not only opposed a policy that she

play03:18

believed to be unfair towards other

play03:20

actual women but voiced her support for

play03:23

other actual women and as a result of

play03:26

that she lost opportunities and then the

play03:28

brand in question went and brought on a

play03:32

man who identifies as a woman to replace

play03:35

the actual woman who is voicing those

play03:38

exact concerns I hate it here and if

play03:41

that doesn't illustrate the insane

play03:44

amount of contempt that these Brands and

play03:46

organizations have for women in the

play03:48

first place I don't know what will so

play03:50

that's what we're going to talk about

play03:52

today the absolute stupidity that is

play03:54

this Rip Curl situation and the

play03:57

ramifications when women say enough is

play03:59

enough and speaking of ramifications you

play04:02

know what has really bad ones your bad

play04:05

habit which is why today's video is

play04:07

sponsored by fume it is a brand new year

play04:11

children and you know what that means

play04:13

there is no better time than now to

play04:15

ditch your bad habit hello no more cold

play04:20

turkey no more crying in your bed

play04:23

because you la

play04:24

willpower it is your time to shine and

play04:28

what better way to do that than with

play04:29

fume fume is this neat Innovative

play04:33

award-winning flavored air device and to

play04:35

be clear your fume is not a vape it has

play04:39

no heating components so rather than

play04:41

inhaling gross chemicals you're instead

play04:43

breathing in all natural flavored air

play04:46

which is great because fume has several

play04:49

delicious flavors to choose from

play04:51

including my two favorites crisp mint

play04:54

and sparkling grapefruit because really

play04:56

if you have to pick between cold turkey

play04:58

or crisp minty air I know which way I'd

play05:01

go in addition to the yo flavors fume

play05:04

also comes with an adjustable airflow

play05:06

dial and movable parts and magnets to

play05:09

keep your fingers occupied and to Cap

play05:12

all of that fun stuff off fume recently

play05:17

play05:42

10% off on January 24 20124 Rip Curl

play05:47

posted a video to their women focused

play05:49

Instagram page Rip Curl women that

play05:51

featured a transgender Surfer called

play05:54

Sasha Jane lerson this video has since

play05:56

been deleted but the caption originally

play05:58

described the 44-year-old lerson as a

play06:01

West Australian waler woman who loves

play06:04

the freedom found in surfing

play06:06

disconnecting from the mainstream and

play06:08

the feeling of dancing on constantly

play06:10

changing waves and likely knowing the

play06:13

push back that was on the horizon for

play06:15

this post the brand locked their

play06:17

Instagram comments in an effort to limit

play06:19

blowback these companies are only

play06:21

stunning and brave behind the comment

play06:22

lock cowards as of recording this video

play06:25

lerson is still present in another video

play06:28

posted by ripc women that shows the

play06:30

surfer amongst the other mostly young

play06:32

female brand ambassadors now very

play06:35

obviously but I have to add this before

play06:37

lerson became associated with Rip Curl

play06:40

the surfer had almost exclusively

play06:42

competed in male competitions in an

play06:45

interview with the protrans publication

play06:47

them in February 2023 lerson said I've

play06:51

been a professional longboard Surfer for

play06:53

many years and in that time I hid in the

play06:56

closet basically I tried to transition

play06:58

at 19 and then again at 29 and now in my

play07:02

early 40s I've been successful after

play07:04

spending the majority of Life competing

play07:07

as a male lerson began popping up on the

play07:09

female scene around 2022 and because it

play07:12

almost always goes this way lerson got

play07:15

push back almost immediately everyone

play07:18

wants to always act like my homeland is

play07:20

so leftist which it is in a lot of ways

play07:22

don't get me wrong but my people we we

play07:25

suffer new fools unless it has to do

play07:27

with something political then then

play07:29

sometimes times fery has suffered I

play07:30

don't know it's been a while since I've

play07:31

been home don't listen to me I see you

play07:33

guys with your Invasion Day protests

play07:36

just put that away in March of 2022

play07:39

lison placed ninth in the NSA Festival

play07:41

of Surfing becoming the first transwoman

play07:44

to compete in surfing at the

play07:46

professional level two months later

play07:48

loison placed first in the open women's

play07:51

longboard and women's logger divisions

play07:53

at the West Coast suspension state

play07:55

championships only 3 years earlier lison

play07:58

was competing as a man and and took the

play07:59

top position in the men's category in

play08:02

2023 when the world surf League updated

play08:04

their guidelines permitting men to

play08:06

compete in women's competitions if they

play08:07

meet specific requirements lerson

play08:10

celebrated the announcement brah

play08:12

celebrating something like this kind of

play08:14

feels like the equivalent of libertarian

play08:16

politicians getting together to Pat

play08:17

themselves on the back for the three

play08:19

people who voted for

play08:21

them I'm just saying I hate that we are

play08:24

becoming that one South Park episode I

play08:27

can't tell you how free I feel now that

play08:29

I've started identifying as a woman now

play08:32

with all of that in mind this situation

play08:35

really doesn't seem too different to

play08:37

other situations that include Brands

play08:39

bringing on a trans identified

play08:41

individual as a woman's Ambassador or

play08:44

whatever and at this point I would say

play08:47

that many of us women are used to

play08:49

watching female specific spots and

play08:51

opportunities being taken and given to

play08:54

men who identify as women you need only

play08:57

look at all the men receiving Woman of

play08:59

the Year Awards because at this point

play09:02

the one thing that you don't need to be

play09:04

to be considered a woman is a woman no

play09:08

specific chromosomes necessary only

play09:10

feelings it's uh it's not great but like

play09:13

I mentioned earlier this situation is

play09:16

worse for a couple reasons and the first

play09:19

and probably the biggest is Bethany

play09:21

Hamilton Hamilton is one of the best

play09:24

known Surfers the world over she has

play09:27

also had a long-standing relationship

play09:29

ship and partnership with Rip girlr

play09:31

Hamilton who was already known for her

play09:33

skill became the subject of huge media

play09:36

attention in 2003 when at the age of 13

play09:39

she decided to go surfing with her best

play09:41

friend her father and her brother out of

play09:44

nowhere she was attacked by a tiger

play09:46

shark her arm was bitten off in the

play09:48

attack and I mean that literally uh like

play09:51

it was just taken off below the shoulder

play09:53

and very nearly killed her this was of

play09:56

course huge news especially in the

play09:58

surfing community

play09:59

and from what I understand but please

play10:01

don't quote me on this Rip Curl was

play10:04

actually Hamilton's sponsor when the

play10:06

attack occurred the brand then went on

play10:09

to become one of Hamilton's longest

play10:11

lasting Partnerships in all the decades

play10:14

that have followed that's more

play10:15

consistent than Joe Biden's marriage but

play10:17

in February of

play10:19

2023 this changed the world surf League

play10:22

released their transgender policy and

play10:24

Hamilton took to social media to express

play10:26

her concern in the clip Hamilton asked

play10:29

the question of who is pushing for this

play10:31

change in her sport who decided the

play10:34

rules surrounding the level of

play10:35

testosterone required to compete in

play10:37

female divisions and why there is no

play10:39

mention of trans identified women who

play10:42

want to compete with men I personally

play10:44

think that the best solution would be to

play10:47

create a different division so that all

play10:49

can have a fair opportunity to showcase

play10:52

showcase their passion and talent and I

play10:55

think it's really hard to imagine the

play10:57

future of women's what the future of

play10:59

women's surfing will be like in 15 to 20

play11:02

years down the road if we move forward

play11:05

um allowing this major change but we are

play11:09

seeing glimpses of male-bodied dominance

play11:12

in women's sports like running swimming

play11:15

and others my hope is that if I ever

play11:18

have a daughter who is competing in

play11:19

surfing or any sport and also for all

play11:22

the aspiring Young Generation of women

play11:25

to have a bright and promising

play11:27

opportunity in her ambition to be the

play11:30

best of the best women in her sport I

play11:33

personally won't be competing in or

play11:35

supporting the world surf league if this

play11:37

rule remains thanks in her reaction to

play11:41

the new guidelines Hamilton also

play11:43

threatened to boycott the world's surf

play11:45

league and has been outspoken in support

play11:47

of fairness in women's sports on social

play11:49

media ever since you know it's kind of

play11:52

funny getting her arm literally torn off

play11:55

her body was not enough to get Bethany

play11:59

Hamilton out of the water a shark

play12:01

couldn't get her to stop her sport but

play12:04

the unfairness of men competing against

play12:08

women in her sport that has almost

play12:11

caused her to leave and I feel like that

play12:13

is pretty significant one might even

play12:16

argue that means gender ideology is

play12:19

worse than a shark attack yeah noodle on

play12:22

that one although I will reiterate that

play12:24

the ocean is terrifying and I don't know

play12:27

why people go in it

play12:30

you need help in a follow-up video

play12:32

Hamilton noted how she knew she would

play12:34

receive blowback after expressing her

play12:36

opinions and questions on this matter

play12:38

she said that many female Surfers feel

play12:40

similarly to her but fear speaking out

play12:43

publicly for fear of the same blowback

play12:45

and backlash this is why she was

play12:47

prepared to do so because someone has to

play12:50

Hamilton's response reportedly didn't

play12:52

sit very well with ripc who had included

play12:55

Sasha lerson in their 2023 summer looks

play12:58

good on you campaign and I have to

play13:00

imagine that this didn't sit too well

play13:02

with Hamilton either given that she had

play13:04

been very vocal and made her opinions

play13:07

about the fairness in this situation

play13:09

very clear so by November 2023 despite

play13:13

having several years left on an existing

play13:15

contract with Rip Curl the two-p parted

play13:17

ways now once again on the surface all

play13:20

of this is pretty textbook woman gets

play13:23

ousted for expressing her opinions about

play13:25

men participating in female sports bran

play13:28

brings on man who identifies as a woman

play13:30

to appear inclusive and tolerant

play13:33

everybody celebrates said brand for

play13:35

being inclusive and tolerant while women

play13:37

get sidelined but Bethany Hamilton in a

play13:40

way had made herself a pariah in her

play13:43

Sport and I think she's been punished

play13:45

for speaking out way more than people

play13:47

realize based on some of the things that

play13:49

I found and read with relation to this

play13:52

story it seems like Bethany Hamilton

play13:54

made a bunch of people in the world surf

play13:57

League extremely mad for example and

play14:00

full disclosure I can't actually confirm

play14:02

this story this is based on articles

play14:04

that I read so just bear that in mind

play14:07

after Hamilton's comments were made the

play14:09

world surf League was hosting an event

play14:11

as part of the 2023 Championship tour

play14:14

that opened on March 8th this coincided

play14:17

with International women's day to

play14:19

celebrate professional Surfers were

play14:21

encouraged to put the names of an iconic

play14:23

female athlete on the back of their

play14:25

jerseys for the event a woman called

play14:27

Betty Lu Sakura Johnson as to wear

play14:30

Hamilton's name the world surf League

play14:32

reportedly banned her from doing so

play14:34

Sakura Johnson was reportedly asked to

play14:37

choose a different female athletes name

play14:39

allegedly because of Hamilton's

play14:41

criticism of the League's new

play14:42

transgender policy and I am willing to

play14:45

bet that this is not the only time that

play14:47

Hamilton has been treated like this I

play14:49

think for me the bottom line is that

play14:51

these Brands don't actually care about

play14:54

women and the sporting organizations

play14:57

don't actually care about women either

play15:01

what they care about for whatever reason

play15:03

is appearing tolerant inclusive and

play15:06

Progressive and I think the reason that

play15:09

this particular situation is so

play15:11

egregious is because the woman in

play15:13

question epitomizes many of the things

play15:16

that other women want to emulate and

play15:18

that Brands apparently want to put out

play15:21

into the world which is strength

play15:23

resilience Bethany is a mother and she

play15:26

seems like a wonderful one at that and

play15:28

the these are old qualities that many

play15:30

women want to have and yet she was

play15:33

dropped by a brand and ostracized in a

play15:36

way by a sporting organization because

play15:39

she spoke up and defended other women

play15:42

and the way that that brand and sporting

play15:45

organization decided to proceed was by

play15:48

integrating the very kind of person that

play15:51

is undermining Womanhood to begin with

play15:54

but perhaps the icing on the cake of

play15:57

this story is that Sasha lon's social

play15:59

media has since been made private but

play16:02

prior to this happening people noted a

play16:04

distressing pattern of lerson posting

play16:07

racy photos in lingerie in suggestive

play16:10

poses many of these images had captions

play16:13

that alluded to surfing on this point

play16:15

and I think this is important to note a

play16:17

female athlete would never be taken

play16:19

seriously if she did something like this

play16:22

and many female athletes work incredibly

play16:24

hard to not be sexualized and treated

play16:26

like tokens of their sex and then you

play16:29

have this person posting photos dressed

play16:31

in bottomless lingerie and we're

play16:32

supposed to act like this is normal and

play16:34

or ignore it but unfortunately I can't

play16:38

and if I have to see it so do you you

play16:41

guys have been here for long enough you

play16:42

know them's the rules I don't make them

play16:45

I just enforce them because if I am not

play16:47

torturing you are we even really on the

play16:49

hell Gondola together no no we are not

play16:52

and we are bonded together by disgust

play16:54

the sad thing in what I am describing to

play16:57

you is that of of course this is not an

play16:59

isolated incident and there are plenty

play17:02

of other transgender athletes who also

play17:05

act provocative and sexualized when they

play17:08

are not competing now for whatever

play17:11

reason there is this weird convergence

play17:14

happening across sporting bodies in some

play17:17

sports the governing organizations have

play17:20

finally started listening to female

play17:22

competitors and have started dialing

play17:24

back the insane policies that were

play17:27

instituted to ACC accomodate people who

play17:29

participate in gender ideology such as

play17:31

the North American grappling Association

play17:34

and the British cycling Federation I

play17:37

think that's the name of it British

play17:38

cycling Federation but on the other hand

play17:40

for whatever reason there are sporting

play17:43

buddies who are instead doubling down

play17:45

like the world surf league and the

play17:47

Canadian powerlifting Federation but the

play17:50

one constant that remains in both

play17:52

situations is that female athletes are

play17:55

having to walk away from their Sports

play17:59

from many opportunities from trophies

play18:02

from all sorts of major accomplishments

play18:05

in order to send the message that the

play18:07

disrespect and the unfairness will not

play18:11

be tolerated and as a result and

play18:13

thankfully some sporting organizations

play18:16

are waking up to the fact that they are

play18:18

doing wrong by their female competitors

play18:21

but often it takes these ladies

play18:23

physically walking away walking out of

play18:26

tournaments and competitions events and

play18:29

saying no more for tangible change to be

play18:32

made we saw it with relation to Lynn

play18:34

pinches in the UK who walked out on a

play18:37

championship pool match because she

play18:39

refused to face a trans competitor and

play18:42

with Jaden Alexander who walked out on a

play18:44

grappling tournament because she didn't

play18:46

want to Grapple any longer with trans

play18:48

identified males it was only after these

play18:51

women and several others walked away

play18:53

from these opportunities that meaningful

play18:56

change was made but in other cases

play18:58

like those of April Hutchinson and

play19:01

Bethany Hamilton this has gone the

play19:03

opposite way April Hutchinson was

play19:06

suspended by the Canadian powerlifting

play19:08

Federation because she spoke out against

play19:10

a male powerlifter who was competing in

play19:12

female competitions and we obviously

play19:15

know how Bethany Hamilton situation has

play19:17

gone down watching these sporting

play19:19

organizations Double Down is honestly

play19:22

incredibly bizarre it almost feels like

play19:25

gender ideology is a beast that's been

play19:27

backed into a corner and as of right now

play19:30

it's all nashing teeth and throwing out

play19:33

claws trying to protect itself but

play19:36

people keep advancing further and

play19:38

further and getting closer and closer to

play19:40

it in an effort to Snuff it out and they

play19:43

do so knowing full well that they're

play19:45

probably going to get hurt and the hurt

play19:47

is real especially with relation to this

play19:49

topic in order for change to take place

play19:52

in these organizations female athletes

play19:54

have had to suffer tremendously and not

play19:56

only from the perspective of having

play19:58

opportunities ripped away from them but

play20:00

quite literally suffer getting their

play20:02

heads caved in getting choked out ending

play20:05

up with serious injuries and fear that

play20:08

stops them from competing again these

play20:10

women are expected to give up their

play20:12

hopes and dreams to walk off the field

play20:15

walk away from the tournament walk away

play20:18

from the opportunities and the trophies

play20:20

and the accolades because until these

play20:23

sporting bodies actually do right by

play20:25

these women it's the only thing that is

play20:28

orchestrating any change women giving up

play20:32

the thing they have worked so hard for

play20:34

and maybe that's what the world of

play20:35

Surfing needs one woman or maybe a bunch

play20:38

of women to walk off the bloody Beach

play20:40

and say absolutely no more I suppose the

play20:43

facts that women have to sacrifice and

play20:46

relinquish opportunities in order to

play20:49

fight for their sport is insane to

play20:52

reiterate a point I made earlier with

play20:54

relation to Bethany Hamilton this was a

play20:57

woman who was not dissuaded after

play20:59

getting her arm bitten clean off by a

play21:02

shark but it appears her Line in the

play21:04

Sand is men participating in her sport

play21:08

in the female category and I really

play21:10

think that says something in the end I

play21:12

firmly believe that the Turning Point

play21:14

comes when enough women when enough

play21:17

female athletes are prepared to walk

play21:19

away and say enough is enough and for

play21:22

once I am really happy to say that I

play21:24

firmly believe we have finally reached

play21:27

that place now on that note and before I

play21:30

open the floor to all of you this is

play21:31

just a reminder check out fume using the

play21:34

link in the description go and check out

play21:36

play21:39

the new Solano fume which is very very

play21:42

Schmick don't forget to use code Sydney

play21:44

for a discount at checkout now open the

play21:47

floor to all of you what do you all

play21:48

think is this actually going to be the

play21:51

turning point do you think more women

play21:53

are going to step up and say absolutely

play21:55

no more I am done do you think that

play21:57

nothing's actually going to change that

play21:59

it's just going to be more of the same

play22:01

what do you make of this rip Crow

play22:02

situation do you think it's wrong do you

play22:04

think it's right do you think that

play22:06

Bethany Hamilton has been unfairly

play22:08

treated do you think that Sasha lerson

play22:11

has been unfairly treated what you

play22:13

generally make of this issue overall as

play22:16

always if you made it this far in the

play22:18

video congratulations I always like

play22:19

having you along for the full ride if

play22:21

would like to and you'd like to see more

play22:24

content like this feel free to subscribe

play22:26

to this Channel and leave me a like and

play22:28

a comment I do read the majority of them

play22:30

and I really like reading your feedback

play22:32

particularly with relation to topics

play22:33

like this cuz I know that they're a

play22:35

little bit wonky and a little bit

play22:36

complicated uh if you have any video

play22:38

suggestions feel free to let me know

play22:39

those as well because I do make them and
