The speaker reinforces the importance of common sense and consistency in achieving fitness goals.
π Importance of Journaling and Personal Reflection in Fitness
Here, the speaker shares their personal experience of tracking fitness progress through journaling, including both physical and psychological effects of different diets and training programs. yo dudes at your friendly neighbor Jack
SL is back and I just had to do this
video cuz I just had a very frustrating
conversation with one of my friends who
I love dearly he's like a brother to me
but it was one of those situations where
not only do I notice this with my friend
but I noticed this with so many people
on the internet as well and I'm just
like let's stop this so I was talking to
my friend on Discord by the way if he's
watching I'm not going to say your name
so don't worry about it but it's one of
those situations where I've talked to
them for months and months about like oh
this sort of Fitness thing can help you
with this this sort of Fitness thing
will help you with this and they just
don't listen they always switch and swap
so it's like they're very indecisive so
it's like oh I'm doing this I'm doing
this workout program I heard that it's
good for this and I'm like hey that's
awesome you know do your thing that's
great like I'm just encouraging I want
you to do your best but then there's
people out there who are just like oh
wait this is actually better than this
and so like it confuses them makes them
go oh I'm going to switch over to this
training style now oh I heard that this
diet is great for this I'm going to be
doing this I was like okay man good good
for you like do it and stuff like that
but then it's like oh after like a week
or something like that like yeah
actually I heard about this so I'm going
to do this right here and it's like bro
you're not giving your body a time to
fully like reap the benefits of whatever
thing you're trying because you keep
switching from it so fast and then
whenever you try to like do something
new you get this paralysis analysis and
you're just like oh I don't know what to
choose until someone tells you what to
do and I just I see this all the time I
see this all the time because on the
internet you'll constantly see oh this
trying style is actually not ideal for
this do this instead oh this diet plan
is actually not ideal for this you do
this instead and then what happens to a
bunch of people this isn't just my
friend this happens to a bunch of people
is they'll just be like I don't know
what to do because there's just so many
choices out there and it's like no you
got to stick with one because that's the
main thing you have to stick with at
least one of those things and see how it
works for you there's also something
that happens to a lot of people called
dun and Krueger effect and I know you've
seen this before like with a lot of
people it's basically where when someone
starts doing something they develop this
cognitive bias that they know more about
it or they're expert in it so it's just
like oh yeah like know I only do this
sort of training and I only eat this way
because of blah blah blah even though I
just started like a week ago these are
all the benefits of that and it's like I
talked about in this video right here
where I talked about how a lot of people
can become tribal because it's just part
of our nature to be like I want to be
part of a community and stuff like that
and so like they just become this
trouble way I highly recommend that
video for anyone who just you know is
curious about Fitness Stu or if anime
ever inspired you but all of that like
plays a role into this confusion that
happens to a lot of people there's also
a lot of fear mongering too like oh
you're following that way of eating huh
well studies show that that's going to
be really bad for you in a couple years
oh you're doing that training plan huh
well study show then a few years this is
what's going to happen here it's just
like a lot of that sort of stuff and
then there's also a lack of Common Sense
too like some people might fall for
something like hey you know there's a
raw chicken and bleach diet if you eat
raw chicken and bleach you'll gradually
get shredded and drop weight and all
this stuff and it's just like yeah for
all the wrong reasons obviously and
again I'm saying don't do that okay
however if you're you're dumb enough to
do that that is just one of those
Darwinism is just taking effect there
because like you know you wouldn't
survive the winter in this case but no
it's one of those situations that this
just keeps keeps happening people think
every time they swap up they're keeping
their body guessing and keeping it from
adapting and stuff like that however
there are certain things where if you
switch like too fast you're possibly
negating any progress you could have
potentially made following whatever it
was you were doing this is why I always
say test your body and take notes okay
like if you're starting something new a
new training program a new diet take
actual notes I have countless
journals of stuff I have done over the
years of like different training
programs I've done and different diet
plans I've done and I can tell you how
they affected me how I felt during them
did I feel too burned out did I feel
just right how they affected me
physically and how they affected me
psychologically because you know certain
things will make you feel like a certain
way like for instance when I cut carbs I
was like freaking talking about
how let me see where is it the notes yep
right here I talk about it and I say
cutting carbs made me feel a lot less
energetic I don't feel like I'm enjoying
the days as much and I feel like I'm
just not having a good time and so like
oh you know stuff like that like just
simple stuff like that I can tell you
I've done so many diets of the way the
way I look at it is like it's a
different tool belt so like I've done a
variety of diets I've done a variety of
training modalities I've done a variety
of things to help me build my body like
this I have done so many different
training modalities over the year I've
trained like an MMA fighter I've trained
like a boxer I've trained like a
football player I've trained like a
bodybuilder I've trained like in a
variety of ways and I found for myself
when I built my different body types
that I really enjoy the more PS4
Spider-Man 18-year-old Goku type body
where it's like it's muscular and lean
but it's not like too heavy and it's not
too bulky and stuff like that and then
like I'm able to like move fast and
stuff like that when I'm like doing
myself I'm explosive I can still move
dayto day like I don't feel heavy I
don't feel like sluggish at all stuff
like that that is my ideal certain thing
for myself and I've currently been in
the process of rebuilding myself cuz
earlier this year I pulled the fat Thor
after I lost my my buddy like I did a
video talking about how I lost my pup
Rambo and it like really affected me and
put me just in this depressive state
where I just didn't care about Fitness I
didn't care about like training I didn't
care about exercise for like a few
months and I steadily had to rebuild
myself and I like you know put on a lot
of weight but like I've been using those
notes to help me get back to where I was
faster because like I actually studied
and I have this like evaluative
experience to see and that's what I'm
encouraging you to do if you want to try
something new try it but test it out
that's the thing that so many people
don't do we're just like in this
situation where everything is instant
gratification oh I want this immediately
and stuff like that it's like no you're
not understanding if everyone was just
buff everyone was ripped like you know
in the '90s Spider-Man cartoon '90s
X-Men cartoon whatever like I talked
about in this video here here it
wouldn't mean anything it wouldn't be
special because it's just like oh you
didn't really put in the work to get it
everyone looks this way it's just like
it's not that special but like you can
actually go like oh I want to do this
and like I talked about again in this
freaking anime video right here what
type of body type do you want for
yourself not everyone wants to be
bodybuilders not everyone wants to be
athletes not everyone wants to be like
freaking ripped at all okay you have to
find what works for you and don't worry
about other people because you are the
one you're going to be alone with
remember like I always say everybody is
different and reacts differently so a
program that works really great for
someone may not work great for you
because we're all built different okay
so for example you know some people will
say like oh there's only one way to
achieve this and there's like certain
ways but yeah no like 2+ 2 is four but
so is 3 + 1 so is 2 * 2 you know stuff
like that like there are different ways
to get to four so don't like beat
yourself up and think like oh I have to
do it this specific way no test your
body that's the fun about Fitness making
it a lifestyle for you to find what
benefits you specifically this is my
advice to you okay do something for
eight weeks get tunnel vision with it do
that with 8 weeks don't listen to anyone
else like don't listen to like oh do
this do this do this just do it for
eight weeks track it like track your
workouts track like what your eating
plan like whatever eating plan follow
that for8 weeks as well okay you can
like use my fitness palette to track it
you can use an app like strong to track
your workouts or something like that or
like there are various different things
on Google that you can use to track your
workouts or you can just use a good old
notebook all right like I love using a
journal I currently this is why it's
called the Phoenix blade because this is
something I started doing to get myself
back in shape after my boy Rambo passed
so I can like you know make him proud
and stuff like that so like I have been
using this for the last few months like
literally just like steadily rebuilding
myself piece by piece so like I'm making
sure that I come back stronger than I've
ever been before and I had to like do
that and that little thing right there
just made me feel nostalgic of when I
used to do these like back in the day
but get tunnel vision focus on that
don't listen to outside stuff of saying
switch this switch this switch take
notes see how you're feeling through it
if like if it's doing more harm than
good well remember it's called
bodybuilding it's not body destroying
you don't want to like f up your body
like if you're feeling like oh man I'm
just so worn out from that take that as
a note that it's like hm maybe I
shouldn't be doing this as excessively
like this and then like maybe you can
modify it too and if you still don't
know where to start I have so much free
stuff on this channel that can literally
help you out I have stuff that can like
teach you how to do your programs if you
like training like anime characters I
have like this thing where I count down
like all the programs that I've done for
them you can see if that works for you I
also have stuff that teaches you if your
diet is literally helping you or hurting
you all right and I think that's just
very very important because so many
people just don't know how to tell if
it's helping or hurting them and then
like how to like sleep properly how to
get more athletic you know how to become
like fit like a superhero all that stuff
is like on my channel so if you're
interested go check it out I have like a
ton of playlists and stuff like that you
can check out I'll link one here and
stuff like that if you just are so
confused all right but that's the thing
and if you want like a bonusing I do
have programs available to help youall
like that you can literally follow for
months that come with diet plans meal
plans all that stuff I'll leave them in
the pin comment if you're interested
again don't feel obligated to it's just
if you feel interested and you want to
get started that's the main thing right
there but again tons of stuff I'm just
saying this because it really it irks me
and then it also like sort of breaks my
heart that so many people just like hit
that analysis paralysis where they're
just like I I don't know what to do
should I do this should I do this I
heard that this was this I heard this
was this and it's just like no just go
to the store get a journal start taking
some notes and see how your body reacts
to it steadily watch yourself grow and
remember this is a special thing that is
for you it's called personal training
because it is personal to you I just
wanted to do this video because like I
just see so many people suffer from this
and it's just like it doesn't need to be
this way so let's help each other out
let's encourage each other and if you
made this far in the video type in
paralysis broken down below and then
maybe say like what worked for you okay
because again some things are just like
hey I really like this thing I really
like this thing like on one of my videos
people were like oh I really got into
like boxing and it just like really
changed my perspective and some people
were like I really got into bodybuilding
and it really changed my perspective for
this so like you know it's going to be
different for everyone so post something
that you really like doing and like you
know maybe it can encourage some other
people anyways got some new videos
coming that I'm excited to share with
y'all and again I hope you have a great
rest of your day also I'm doing a thing
with my personal training clients right
now which I'll probably do a quick video
on and delete later but like again if
you're interested all you got to do is
click that link down below I'm doing a
thing called the power level game so if
you want to join it all right just click
that link down below it's going to be
super fun like I've been doing it with
