Transcripts
Hello, this is Mo! Tanya here!
And today we are going to compare the Galaxy S24 Ultra vs.
the iPhone 15 Pro Max after six months of updates!
ļ»æThanks to this Viennese young man for giving usĀ great content! The iPhone is always on the rightĀ Ā
side and the Galaxy is on the left side. The firstĀ obvious difference between the two at first glanceĀ Ā
is the exposure and level of whites. I always feelĀ the whites are deeper on the iPhone, which is alsoĀ Ā
visible in photos. The other visible differenceĀ is that the Galaxy's sky color has more of a blueĀ Ā
tone and is a little more saturated. I took allĀ the photos in default mode, and when zooming intoĀ Ā
the subject, the Galaxy photo looks less noisyĀ compared to the iPhone. Another difference betweenĀ Ā
the two, in my opinion, is the skin tone. There isĀ a bit of a red and orange tone to my skin tone andĀ Ā
Tanyaās on the Galaxy, whereas iPhone faces areĀ a bit on the colder side. In the background, bothĀ Ā
of them retained the details in the sky and did aĀ great job keeping the information there. For me,Ā Ā
Galaxy Ultra phones were always great for zooming,Ā but there is less of a difference now that bothĀ Ā
Pro Max and Ultra have similar 5X optical zoomĀ lenses. There are still two major differencesĀ Ā
between the zooming on the Galaxy and the iPhone.Ā The first one, which is more obvious at firstĀ Ā
glance, is the zoom transition, which is muchĀ smoother on the iPhone compared to the Galaxy.Ā Ā
Unfortunately, on the Galaxy, there is still aĀ visible color and position shift when zooming in,Ā Ā
which I hope Samsung solves in future updates orĀ the next generation of Galaxies. For the pictureĀ Ā
quality at 10 times zoom, the Galaxy seemsĀ to retain details better with computationalĀ Ā
photography and digital zoom. There is againĀ an obvious white balance difference between theĀ Ā
two phones, but itās hard to say which one did aĀ better job. The Galaxy also seems to do a betterĀ Ā
job when it comes to retaining details and noiseĀ level, as you can see in this 10X zoom picture.Ā Ā
Maybe this picture shows the difference betterĀ when I zoomed 15X into the COPA BEACH logo. TheĀ Ā
Galaxy is less noisy and produces a cleaner image,Ā while the one on the iPhone, though it looks lessĀ Ā
digital, is noisier and seemingly not the sameĀ quality as the Samsung S24 Ultra. You probablyĀ Ā
already know that I always carry both iPhoneĀ and Samsung in my pocket, but whenever IāmĀ Ā
in the wild, I use the Galaxy since I prefer theĀ zoom quality and feel it does much better when itĀ Ā
comes to wildlife; the quality is sometimes justĀ surreal. Like, look at this insect video I took,Ā Ā
or the video of the bee. The combination ofĀ autofocus, colors, and level of detail is justĀ Ā
amazing, especially on the 5X zoom on the Galaxy.Ā Iām not saying itās bad on the iPhone, but itāsĀ Ā
simply not the same level, and you can clearlyĀ see the difference looking at this video I tookĀ Ā
with the iPhone 15 Pro Max 5X zoom lens. One otherĀ thing that is essential when comparing the camerasĀ Ā
is the portrait mode, especially skin tone. BothĀ of them can take "quote to quote" cinematic video,Ā Ā
which basically means they create an artificialĀ Bokeh effect to give depth to the subject andĀ Ā
sceneāsomething usually achievable using a lensĀ with a very low aperture like 2.8. However, sinceĀ Ā
phone cameras have a fixed aperture, which is notĀ that wide, they have to add it with computationalĀ Ā
photography. One thing I prefer on the GalaxyĀ is the 3X zoom compared to the 2X zoom lens,Ā Ā
which makes the portrait photo more naturalĀ looking, and I like the face proportions more.Ā Ā
For example on a normal camera, you want to takeĀ a photo with at least 50mm. Using the main lens,Ā Ā
it seems the iPhone picture on the right hasĀ more contrast compared to the Galaxy S24 UltraĀ Ā
on the left side. Maybe this picture shows theĀ difference better. The subject on the iPhone isĀ Ā
a bit darker compared to the S24 Ultra. On theĀ other hand, I feel there is too much yellow toneĀ Ā
in the picture that the S24 Ultra produced. As IĀ said, you cannot get a great Bokeh on the portraitĀ Ā
photo if you donāt use the portrait mode, butĀ you can do a trick and move the background farĀ Ā
from the subject, as I did here with Tanya,Ā which resulted in a somewhat acceptable BokehĀ Ā
without relying on computational photography.Ā Skin tone is another big difference between theĀ Ā
iPhone and the S24 Ultra. The iPhone photo has aĀ bit more contrast and less saturation, and thereĀ Ā
is less red and orange in Tanyaās skin tone,Ā whereas on Samsung, there is more. Write downĀ Ā
in the comments which one you actually prefer.Ā This picture shows the difference even better;Ā Ā
Tanyaās face has more red tone to it on the S24Ā Ultra compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. ItāsĀ Ā
not only because of the software both phones areĀ using, but it also depends on the chipset they areĀ Ā
using and how it handles the computation. LetāsĀ also hear Tanya singing to see the sound quality. Ā
Hungry, Iām so hungry, IĀ have no yummy, of my own! Ā
Are you serious now? Alright, today this isĀ all you get from Tanya! This is the song sheĀ Ā
decided to sing! This is not enough! BTW, today's video has a sponsor,Ā
itās called HITWAY! HITWAY produces great e-bikesĀ at a crazy affordable price. The one that TanyaĀ Ā
and I are riding today is the model called BK19,Ā a road electric bike priced at 900 Euros orĀ Ā
800 Pounds. Itās super easy to assemble and onlyĀ took Tanya and me half an hour to assemble eachĀ Ā
of them. It has a Shimano 7-speed, and with theĀ 250W motor power that it offers, you donāt evenĀ Ā
need to pedal when you are going uphill. ItāsĀ almost cheating and itās a great thing to haveĀ Ā
on hot summer days when you donāt wanna sweat likeĀ a pig! Even though the removable battery is hugeĀ Ā
and supports up to 80KM distance, you donātĀ even notice it because of the sleek design ofĀ Ā
the bikes, and also the bike is not as heavy as aĀ normal bike. Itās only 20KG, and both Tanya and IĀ Ā
can easily lift it with our hands, or withoutĀ hands. The bike can go up to 25KM per hour,Ā Ā
which is the legal limit, pretty fast, likeĀ scary fast! I sometimes think itās dangerouslyĀ Ā
fast! Thatās why maybe put it on number one orĀ two instead of three when you are riding it! TheyĀ Ā
also have other great products that you can checkĀ on their website, they also sell accessories likeĀ Ā
bike bags. I put the link in the description downĀ below. Thanks, HITWAY, for sending the bikes; weĀ Ā
had a great time riding them! It was getting dark,Ā and we decided to do some nature photography.Ā Ā
There is again this obvious difference betweenĀ the white balance of the phones. I prefer the oneĀ Ā
on Galaxy in this instance because it captured theĀ sky tone better while itās too gray on the iPhone.Ā Ā
The pictures on the Galaxy are more film-like,Ā whereas on the iPhone, itās more clear due to theĀ Ā
higher contrast and lack of yellow and warm tone.Ā For the sunset, I feel the iPhone did a betterĀ Ā
job at capturing the sun even though there is aĀ visible flare on the picture. Each phone handlesĀ Ā
the flares differently, in my opinion. The flareĀ is a bit stronger on the Galaxy, and there is alsoĀ Ā
a green tone on it if you look at the directĀ impact on the middle of the screen. Whereas onĀ Ā
the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I feel itās handlingĀ it slightly better, but on the other hand,Ā Ā
the spot in the middle is larger comparedĀ to the S24 Ultra. It got completely dark,Ā Ā
so I took some more videos and pictures. TheĀ white balance is completely different on nightĀ Ā
photos. The Galaxy photos have this famous yellowĀ tint to them and make everything more vibrant,Ā Ā
while the iPhone increased the exposure.Ā Unfortunately, in low light settings,Ā Ā
Galaxy didnāt do a great job and added this yellowĀ color that I kind of hoped they would fix at someĀ Ā
point with updates, but they never did, while theĀ one on iPhone is more natural. On the other hand,Ā Ā
if you look at the lamps, Galaxy did a betterĀ job retaining the details. At the end of the day,Ā Ā
both phones are great photography and videographyĀ tools for day-to-day life, and it depends on yourĀ Ā
taste which one you prefer. I would pickĀ Samsung for Zoom and video in general,Ā Ā
especially with the great Samsung Camera app,Ā whereas the iPhone is great for night photosĀ Ā
and if you want to capture LOG and color gradeĀ it later. If you liked this video, you are alsoĀ Ā
going to like the long-term comparison ofĀ iPhone 15 Pro Max versus Galaxy S24 Ultra,Ā Ā
and you can watch it next. Thanks for tuningĀ into Techmo, and I will see you in the next one!
