Top 10 WORST Mario Kart ITEMS!
Summary
TLDRIn this video, Nico ranks the top 10 worst items in the Mario Kart franchise, starting with the Cape Feather from Super Mario Kart for its limited usefulness. Other items like Yoshi's eggs, Boo, and the POW block are criticized for being easily avoidable or counterproductive. The Blooper's ink screen and fake item boxes are highlighted for their failure to hinder players effectively. The Thundercloud and coin items are deemed underwhelming, while the Blue Shell is passionately denounced for targeting the leading player, often causing frustration and helplessness.
Takeaways
- π The Cape Feather from Super Mario Kart is considered almost useless because it only allows jumping over pits and finding shortcuts in a few tracks.
- π₯ The Yoshi/Birdoh Egg in Mario Kart: Double Dash can be counterproductive as it often leaves useful items for the opponent you hit.
- π» The Boo item can be disappointing as it sometimes fails to provide any additional items and offers no attacking capabilities.
- π₯ The POW Block, despite its intention to affect all racers ahead, can be easily avoided by opponents who are airborne or using certain items.
- π The Hearts item for Princess Peach and Daisy, while it can transform into a green shell, is often hit by more common items like banana peels and green shells, reducing its effectiveness.
- π The Blooper's ink screen effect is largely ineffective as players can use alternative screens or their knowledge of the tracks to navigate.
- π£ Fake Item Boxes are easy to spot and avoid, diminishing their strategic value in the game.
- β The Thundercloud item automatically uses itself, which can be more of a hindrance than a help, especially when it shrinks your character.
- π° The Coin item is largely unnecessary as coins are abundant on the tracks, and receiving it when in first place provides little benefit.
- π£ The Blue Shell is deeply disliked for targeting the leading player, creating a sense of helplessness and frustration.
Q & A
What is the main focus of the video script?
-The main focus of the video script is to discuss the worst items in the Mario Kart game series, as presented by Nico in a top 10 list format.
Which Mario Kart item is considered the first on Nico's list of worst items?
-The first item on Nico's list is the Cape Feather, which was only present in Super Mario Kart for the SNES.
Why is the Cape Feather considered a bad item in Mario Kart?
-The Cape Feather is considered a bad item because it only allows the player to jump above pits and find shortcuts, which is useful in very few tracks and not even very effective in those.
What is the issue with the Yoshi/Birdo Egg item from Mario Kart: Double Dash?
-The issue with the Yoshi/Birdo Egg is that while it acts like a homing red shell, the items it leaves behind after hitting a player are often too close to the opponents, making it likely for the opponent to pick them up instead of the user.
What does the Boo item do in Mario Kart, and why is it considered not very useful?
-The Boo item makes the player invisible and attempts to steal another item from a random player, but it often fails to steal any item. It provides no attack or defense boosts, making it mostly useless.
How does the POW block item work, and what is the problem with it?
-The POW block is supposed to hit all players in front of the user by making them slide like on a banana peel. However, it can be easily avoided if opponents are in the air or by shaking the controller at the right time, rendering it ineffective.
What is the purpose of the Hearts item for Princess Peach and Daisy in Mario Kart: Double Dash?
-The Hearts item provides a protective barrier against enemy fire. If hit by a green shell, the heart transforms into a green shell that can be fired back, but it's generally ineffective against common items like banana peels and green shells.
Why is the Blooper's ink attack not very effective in Mario Kart games?
-The Blooper's ink attack is not effective because players can easily look at the bottom screen or gamepad to navigate, and the amount of ink is usually small enough that it doesn't significantly impair visibility.
What makes the Fake Item Box item predictable and easy to avoid in Mario Kart games?
-Fake Item Boxes are easy to spot because they have an upside-down question mark in Mario Kart 64, are completely red in Double Dash, and are usually out of place when lined up with real item boxes.
How does the Thundercloud item work, and why is it considered a bad item?
-The Thundercloud item automatically uses itself when obtained, providing a speed boost but eventually shrinking the player, making them slower and more vulnerable. It's considered bad because it's a time bomb that the player wants to get rid of rather than keep.
Why is the Coin item often considered annoying in Mario Kart games?
-The Coin item is annoying because it only slightly increases the player's maximum speed, which is not very useful, especially when given to players in first place who have easy access to coins scattered on the track.
What is Nico's opinion on the Blue Shell item, and why?
-Nico despises the Blue Shell because it targets the leading player, aiming to hinder the best player rather than help others win. It's seen as an item that's meant to cause frustration and is difficult to avoid.
Outlines
ποΈ Top 10 Worst Mario Kart Items
The paragraph introduces a video by Nico, focusing on the least effective items in the Mario Kart game series. It critiques the Cape Feather for its limited utility, the Yoshi/Birdo's egg for being counterproductive, the Boo for its inconsistent usefulness, and the POW Block for being easily avoidable. Each item is evaluated based on its impact on gameplay and the strategies it disrupts.
π Annoying and Ineffective Power-Ups
This paragraph continues the discussion on subpar Mario Kart items, highlighting the Blooper's ink as a failed attempt to obstruct vision, the Fake Item Boxes for being too obvious, and the Thundercloud for its automatic use and negative consequences. It also touches on the Coin item's redundancy and the Blue Shell's frustration as items that either hinder the player's lead or are simply not needed.
π The Dreaded Blue Shell
The final paragraph emphasizes the dislike for the Blue Shell, an item designed to target the leading player and disrupt their advantage. The speaker expresses a strong negative sentiment towards this item, arguing that it's not about skill but rather a mechanism to penalize the best player. The paragraph concludes with a call to action to check out other videos and follow the channel for more content.

Highlights
The cape feather from Super Mario Kart for the SNES is considered almost worthless due to its limited usefulness.
In Mario Kart Double Dash, Yoshi and Birdo's eggs act like red shells but often fail to provide an advantage.
The Boo item can turn you invisible but often fails to provide any strategic advantage.
The POW block's effectiveness is limited as it can be easily avoided by opponents in the air.
Princess Peach and Daisy's hearts item can transform into a green shell but is otherwise forgettable.
The Blooper's ink screen effect is easily circumvented in later Mario Kart games.
Fake item boxes are easily spotted and thus not very effective as a trap.
The Thundercloud item's automatic use and negative effect make it undesirable.
Coins, while they increase speed, are so common that they are often an annoying item to receive.
The Blue Shell is despised for targeting the leading player and being nearly unavoidable.
The video lists the top 10 worst Mario Kart items, critiquing their design and impact on gameplay.
The Cape Feather's limited use in only a few tracks makes it one of the worst items.
The Yoshi/Birdo egg's ability to turn into other items after hitting an opponent is underwhelming.
The Boo item's invisibility and item theft potential is often not impactful enough to be useful.
The POW block's ability to be dodged by shaking the controller reduces its strategic value.
The hearts item's transformation into a green shell after a hit is a cool but ultimately boring feature.
The Blooper's ink screen is easily bypassed by using the bottom screen or gamepad.
Fake item boxes are too easily identified by their placement and color, reducing their trap effectiveness.
The Thundercloud's automatic use and subsequent negative effect make it a liability rather than a benefit.
Coins, despite their speed boost, are so common on the tracks that they are often unnecessary.
The Blue Shell's targeting of the first-place player and its inescapability make it the most hated item.

tell me what makes mariokart different
from any other racing game the vehicles
now the tracks
keine but not quite the items bingo
sadly some of the items are not really
that good and when you get them you're
kind of bum that you got them
hey I'm Nico and here's my top 10 worst
Mario Kart items the first item in this
list comes from the very first Mario
Kart game Super Mario Kart for the SNES
and you know what this item only
appeared in that single game it was
never seen again after that entry the
reason is simple it's pretty much
worthless the cape feather gives you the
ability to jump above pits and find
shortcuts but it's like useful in only a
couple of tracks and you know it's not
even that useful in those tracks sure it
looks funny as you spin and jump but
seriously though it's useless okay trust
me plus in more recent Mario Kart games
there are jumps everywhere in the tracks
themselves so why would you need a cape
feather altogether
[Music]
this next item was also only present in
one single game in Mario Kart Double
Dash each character has a special item
that only they can use and for Yoshi and
Berto it's their eggs the Yoshi / bird
Oh egg acts like red shells meaning they
automatically guide themselves to the
nearest targets and once they hit it
they explode leaving other items on the
race tracks such as you know mushroom
stars and more the only problem is
you're usually too close to your
opponents to pick up those items so they
end up being picked up by the guy you
actually hit so you know he gets hit
then he gets a star and catches back to
you that's kind of dumb you know
sometimes you grab an item box and you
really want a good item and then you get
a boo what does it do you might ask well
it turns you invisible and steals
another item from another player and
sometimes it just fails and gets you no
items at all what's the point sure
you're invisible for like 10 seconds so
you will avoid banana peels and other
players but it provides no boosts no
mean of attack nothing it's pretty much
useless it's far from being the worst
item ever but it's also really far from
being a good one it's just really
pointless
[Music]
the next item on this list had a very
noble objective at first the POW block
is supposed to hit everyone that's in
front of you by making them slide just
like they would a banana peel the
problem lies in the fact that this item
can be avoided if your opponents are in
the air for example during a jump or if
they're in a DK barrel or whatever and
that's not at all when the POW block
gets ready to hit you if you shake the
Wii Remote or press the trix button at
the correct timing you can avoid it
altogether that's so dumb what good is
an item that can be easily avoided by
just shaking the controller it was a
good try though I guess
this next item is the special characters
item for Princess Peach and Princess
Daisy in Mario Kart Double Dash the
hearts item provide them with a barrier
that protects them from enemies fire the
fun part about this item is that if you
get hit by a green shell the heart
transforms into a green shell that you
can fire back it's kind of cool I
suppose but most of the things you're
going to be hit with our banana peels
and green shells and that's no fun the
idea and concept behind that item is
okay but the execution is just plain
boring it's a very forgettable item to
be quite honest I did not even remember
it before I started doing some research
for this top 10 so yeah what's important
during a fast-paced game of Mario Kart
well being able to see in front of you
obviously and that's what this next
powerup want to get rid of the blooper
is an item that when used puts ink in
your screen to give you trouble seeing
what's in front of you sadly for this
item it fails miserably in Mario Kart DS
Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 you can
just look at the bottom screen or the
Wii U gamepad when you have ink in your
screen and you'll still be able to
navigate yourself very easily and even
if you decide not to look on those
screens the amount of ink on screen is
so small that you'll be able to know
where to go anyways and you know there's
not that many tracks in Mario Kart games
so you'll eventually know them by heart
so this ink won't do anything nice try
blooper maybe next time
[Music]
in Mario Kart you see an item box and
you immediately go for it to see what's
inside but you should be on the lookout
for fake item boxes these items are
placed by other racers and trying to get
them just hits you hard and put you to a
complete stop the problem with these
fake item boxes is that they're easily
spotted from afar in Mario Kart 64 they
have an upside-down question mark to see
them in Double Dash and we they are
completely red which totally sets them
apart from real item boxes but the thing
is item boxes are always lined up
correctly together so as soon as you see
one that seems out of place it's because
it is and it's a fake box
you know the idea behind that item is
great but it's just too easy to avoid
them which I guess is why they removed
it in newer Mario Kart games I suppose
[Music]
so usually in Mario Kart you strive to
get an item to help you win the race you
know you get the item you wait for the
perfect opportunity and then you use it
that's how it works well not for the
thundercloud it seems this wonderful new
item added in Mario Kart Wii uses it
sells automatically once you obtain it
what this item does is put a cloud above
your head with the cloud on you go a
little bit faster which is cool
but the thing is after a little amount
of time the cloud acts like a lightning
bolt and shrinks you to bits eyes
leaving you slower and more vulnerable
than ever the goal of this time bomb
item is to get rid of it by touching
another player you know giving it away
that's not a really nice item you don't
want it and other people don't want it
either
[Music]
okay here's what's going on you're in
first place so you're vulnerable you
have to avoid banana peels you have to
hope that no blue shell will hit you you
have to avoid green shells and other
hazards and then you finally get an item
finally something that can bring you a
little protection right and then you get
a coin yeah the coin item is so useless
it becomes annoying in Mario Kart 7 and
onward every time you collect a coin
your maximum speed limit increases a
little bit which is really good don't
get me wrong but there are coins
scattered pretty much everywhere on the
track so why would you need one from an
item box it's so annoying and as I
mentioned they tend to give this item
out to people in first place this is the
moment where you don't even need it this
is a troll item
[Music]
you know there's one item that I truly
despise one item that I just cannot
accept and I named the blue shell I hate
the blue shell with a passion
the blue shell is everything that is
wrong with Mario Cart I get that this is
a fun game with crazy frantic action and
you never know what's going to happen
really but the blue shell this item was
created to attack the player who's
directly in first place it's just meant
to attack whoever is good at the game
it's not meant to help you win it's just
meant to help him lose and I really hate
that the amount of blue shells I have
received in my face is astonishing and
it literally traumatized me like I heard
that beeping noise meaning that one is
coming and I get scared
instantly why because I cannot avoid it
I feel helpless sure if you have a
mushroom you can sometime escape it but
that's not enough at least in Mario Kart
8 you have an item that can finally
destroy it but you know before that game
there was literally nothing you could do
period and this is why I hate this item
it's just the worst invention ever
you've seen the worst items but you know
what are the best we'll click the
