something and I want you to find it

embrace it and use it to make a

play00:31

difference now one of the things I see

play00:33

in a lot of entrepreneurs is they have a

play00:36

negative attitude that they hold on to

play00:38

where if you want to win you got to

play00:39

embrace the other side you got to let go

play00:41

of the negativity let go of the negative

play00:43

people the mindset the belief system is

play00:44

holding you where you are and so that's

play00:46

the point in this video we're gonna talk

play00:48

about the seven ways to destroy your

yourself with things that make you feel

play01:17

confident realizing that any big

play01:20

endeavor is the collection of a lot of

play01:22

small steps that came before if you're

play01:24

doing work that you love you're more

play01:25

likely to follow through you're more

play01:26

likely to do it because it doesn't feel

play01:28

like work because you love doing it

play01:34

[Music]

play01:41

okay let's kick it off with number one

play01:43

release people from your expectations

play01:45

this is one that is so crazy

play01:47

oh it's so crazy so many people are in a

play01:50

negative spot because they expect other

play01:52

things from people if you can just

play01:54

release people from their expectations

play01:56

you expect your parents to be this way

play01:58

you expect that person you helped out to

play01:59

pay you back and be friendly and help

play02:02

you out in the favor we just expected

play02:03

the people to do things for us even if

play02:05

you've given even if the expectation is

play02:07

deserved holding on to the expectation

play02:10

holding on to the resentment doesn't let

play02:13

you go forward I was speaking with a guy

play02:14

in Boston recently and he comes up to me

play02:17

and says I do so much work in the

play02:18

community I volunteer and help out I've

play02:20

helped so many people build their

play02:22

initiatives in our community in my city

play02:24

of Boston and then I tried to build mine

play02:26

and very few of them came back and

play02:29

helped me none of them wanted to assist

play02:32

me and helping me do what I wanted to do

play02:33

and I've gave them so much I don't get

play02:35

it I'm I'm pissed off I'm upset as long

play02:38

as you are living in that world of

play02:40

expectation you lose

play02:42

release some of the expectations I

play02:44

expect nobody to come back and help you

play02:46

now what now what do you do how do you

play02:48

build right be happy with that now in

play02:51

reality you won't have everybody who

play02:53

doesn't help you but there's gonna be a

play02:55

lot of people who for their own reasons

play02:57

like they may not be bad people they're

play02:58

just busy or they have other things

play02:59

where the priorities or they didn't see

play03:01

your email there's lots of reasons but

play03:03

they just don't want to support you

play03:04

right now or they can't that's okay I

play03:06

make tons of videos for free for you

play03:09

every single day there trying to help

play03:10

build you up and when I ask for

play03:12

something like hey can you guys buy my

play03:14

book or buy my second book or take some

play03:16

other kind of action most of you don't

play03:19

even respond most of you don't say no

play03:21

most of you just don't even reply back

play03:23

and that's okay that doesn't bother me I

play03:24

still make videos for you I still do my

play03:26

best and some of you turn up and some of

play03:29

you buy ten boxes some of you share with

play03:31

your friends and some of you are

play03:32

hardcore fans and I love you and I

play03:34

appreciate you I'm so grateful for you

play03:36

but I don't expect that from you either

play03:38

and so it's putting out and giving out

play03:41

and enjoying the process and knowing

play03:43

that you're doing the right

play03:44

and that doing the right thing is always

play03:46

the right thing without the expectation

play03:47

of getting something back using giving

play03:50

as its own reward instead of only giving

play03:53

an expectation of receiving that's the

play03:55

difference because if you're always

play03:57

living that world of receiving of

play03:58

expecting of getting something back you

play04:00

lose you lose you'll always be negative

play04:02

but the game over you can't be positive

play04:03

moving forward because just waiting on

play04:05

somebody else to get back to you when

play04:06

you're pissed at them as long as you're

play04:08

pissed and that they get a spot you will

play04:09

not be productive and moving towards

play04:11

your dreams so let people go from your

play04:13

expectations of them way number two is

play04:19

change your environment the environment

play04:20

is so important if you around negativity

play04:22

constantly guess what's gonna happen

play04:23

you're gonna be negative it's really

play04:25

hard to be the only positive person in

play04:28

an entirely negative community and

play04:30

listen doc that's rough that's for a lot

play04:32

of people maybe everybody around you is

play04:34

negative maybe maybe your parents are

play04:36

negative and your friends are negative

play04:37

and your aunts and uncles and like

play04:38

everybody every human being you know is

play04:40

negative now what do you do how do you

play04:42

solve that problem I would try to mute

play04:45

the people I would try to limit exposure

play04:48

to those people you may not be able to

play04:49

cut off access to your mom but maybe

play04:51

limit exposure you don't talk about

play04:53

certain topics you cut back the number

play04:54

of hours you spend there and then every

play04:57

hour you free up you spend time meeting

play04:59

new people even if it's just online

play05:01

people even just hanging around Oprah

play05:03

Winfrey online will shift your

play05:05

perspective if you spend an hour a day

play05:07

instead of talking to negative people

play05:09

and spent that time watching Oprah

play05:11

Winfrey videos your perspective will

play05:13

shift your environmental trigger ship

play05:16

will shift your mindset will make you

play05:19

more positive will make you more

play05:21

optimistic especially when consuming

play05:23

content of people who came from really

play05:25

negative spot like Oprah Winfrey's

play05:26

background is ridiculous ridiculously

play05:28

terrible impoverished not having parents

play05:32

abuse going to school in potato bags

play05:34

like just ridiculous that happened to

play05:36

her and she got to where she is so being

play05:38

around her positive message from someone

play05:40

who's gone through exactly what you

play05:42

might be going through or probably what

play05:43

she went through is worse than what

play05:44

you're going through right now is the

play05:46

mindset shift that you can need so

play05:48

whether you're actually reaching out and

play05:49

meeting people local meetups are going

play05:51

to local events or connecting the local

play05:53

clubs or doing your best to do outreach

play05:55

or whether it's just using

play05:57

aspirational mentors to help you get to

play06:00

where you need to go shift in your

play06:02

environment spending less time with

play06:03

negative people and more time with

play06:05

positive people will shift your

play06:06

perspective and make you less negative

play06:07

too

play06:08

[Music]

play06:11

number three is hive empathy when

play06:14

somebody is coming at you with with a

play06:15

ton of negativity try to step above it

play06:17

and just have empathy for their

play06:19

situation just try to take the words

play06:22

that they're throwing at you that may be

play06:23

really negative and insulting and

play06:25

hurtful and just like imagine you have

play06:27

this invisible shield on you that just

play06:29

like reflects it right or like your

play06:31

matrix tile like it's just going over

play06:33

you you don't feel it or the words

play06:34

bounce off and fall on the floor just

play06:36

just try to avoid the words for a few

play06:39

seconds and just try to think about that

play06:40

person think about their life think

play06:43

about the mindset think about where

play06:44

they're coming from and think would you

play06:45

want their life like if you know them if

play06:48

there's somebody close to you you it's

play06:50

easy to do you know their life think do

play06:51

you want their life you know if they're

play06:55

75 years old and never got to follow

play06:57

their dream and now we're hating on you

play06:59

for following your dream like what do

play07:01

you want to trade spot do you want to be

play07:02

that person you want to be 75 years old

play07:04

and have tried your dream and failed and

play07:06

never got the chance or never took the

play07:07

chance to go do it again like you don't

play07:09

want that person's like so you don't

play07:10

want anything to do with how they think

play07:12

and so having a little bit of empathy

play07:14

for where they're coming from allows you

play07:16

to shift your perspective to say okay

play07:18

that's why this person is so hateful

play07:19

like look at their life if you don't

play07:22

know the person and just just imagine it

play07:24

so I do this so I did this a lot in the

play07:27

early days of my youtube channel when I

play07:28

got a hate comment when somebody would

play07:30

hate on my video not not because of

play07:32

anything wrong with the video they just

play07:33

they hated on me or they hated on the

play07:35

person I was profiling or they hated on

play07:37

another

play07:37

personally even a comment on the channel

play07:39

and at the start it really bothered me

play07:41

and I tried to shift the perspective and

play07:43

I tried to work with them or got really

play07:45

combative and now I always leap from

play07:48

place of empathy like can you imagine

play07:50

somebody coming to your channel leaving

play07:52

and absolutely hateful comment and

play07:54

that's how they get satisfaction but

play07:57

that's how they get a little boost in

play07:58

their day the thing that gives them a

play08:00

little bit of energy in the day is is

play08:02

hating on somebody else's YouTube videos

play08:04

or hating on somebody else's creative

play08:06

expression how bad does your life have

play08:08

to be that that's the highlight of your

play08:10

day

play08:10

and I just try to imagine this person

play08:13

what their life looks like and how I

play08:15

would never want to step into that

play08:16

person's life how about an environment

play08:18

they must have right now and so I feel

play08:21

sorry for them and having that empathy

play08:24

can remove the sting of the words

play08:25

because you still see the words but if

play08:27

you have a little context of what's

play08:28

behind the words then it's less likely

play08:30

to actually sting you even though

play08:31

they're saying the same words we number

play08:36

four is change your routine you were a

play08:37

product of your environment and your

play08:39

routines you're a product of what you do

play08:40

every day so if you wake up one day and

play08:42

you're negative and one day that you're

play08:44

you're positive and then next day you're

play08:45

negative and next you're negative again

play08:47

but there's no consistency in your

play08:48

routine and a lot of people wake up like

play08:50

an accident a lot of people wake up and

play08:52

they have no plan they have no routine

play08:53

they fall into their day they they wake

play08:55

up and they check their phone and now

play08:56

you're just immediately responding to

play08:58

other people's emergencies through email

play08:59

and social media you have no set to find

play09:02

routine and so you just take on

play09:04

everybody else's agenda for your time

play09:06

block that off like you got to do the

play09:08

thing in the morning that gets you

play09:09

feeling positive this great exercise to

play09:12

go through think about when you felt the

play09:14

most positive the most bold the most

play09:15

alive the most courageous and just

play09:18

dissect what happened before were you

play09:19

watching a video we're reading the book

play09:21

we having a conversation where you hug

play09:22

in your cat were you at the gym like

play09:24

what were you doing that gets you into a

play09:26

positive mindset if for example it's

play09:29

dancing dancing it makes you feel happy

play09:30

dancing shifts your mood immediately

play09:32

into a positive one great start every

play09:35

morning dancing wake up put on your

play09:37

playlist and drive it in put on the song

play09:40

that automatically makes you want to be

play09:41

happy and dance and pick a couple songs

play09:44

as the same song won't work forever save

play09:46

a rotation of songs or if it's watching

play09:47

a video there's tons of videos or

play09:49

between the book there's tons of books

play09:50

listen to podcast is tons of podcast

play09:51

start your day with the thing that makes

play09:53

you feel positive because if you wake up

play09:55

feeling negative there aren't that many

play09:56

people wake up and like yes what a day I

play09:58

can't wait for this day to start right

play10:00

here you wake up on your tires you might

play10:03

have had a bad sleep most people wake up

play10:05

neutral and so if you do the thing that

play10:08

then allows you to have a positive

play10:09

viewpoint on life and do that with

play10:12

intention schedule the first 10 15

play10:14

minutes of your day with intention you

play10:16

are much more likely to achieve that

play10:18

intention where if you have no intention

play10:20

you much more likely to just respond to

play10:22

everybody else's needs for you

play10:23

time and dive down into really negative

play10:25

spot way number five to destroy your

play10:31

negative attitude is to have gratitude

play10:32

it's really hard to be really grateful

play10:35

for something a negative at the same

play10:36

time think about how fortunate you are

play10:39

to live your life think about like you

play10:41

have internet access you can watch this

play10:43

video you know you're growing up if

play10:45

you're in North America you have nothing

play10:47

to complain about compared to a lot of

play10:49

other places in this world and so just

play10:51

having some gratitude for the health of

play10:53

the people around you for the country

play10:55

that you live in for the area that we

play10:56

still get to breathe that you can look

play10:57

out a window and still see trees I try

play11:00

to mix it up between something big like

play11:03

I get to do this amazing work I get to

play11:04

help entrepreneurs I just came back from

play11:06

Boston and helped all these people like

play11:08

something kind of mission driven

play11:09

something family like I'm so grateful

play11:11

for my wife and my parents and they're

play11:13

still alive and we're all healthy and my

play11:15

dogs and they're amazing they give me

play11:17

energy and fun every day and it's

play11:19

something that is easy to miss right why

play11:21

do people love rainbows so much and they

play11:24

never notice the sunrise or sunset

play11:25

because the rainbow is rare because the

play11:28

rainbow doesn't happen all the time like

play11:29

wow look at the rainbow

play11:30

but you don't often say wow look at that

play11:33

sunset but it happens every day you're

play11:35

awake you work every single day when the

play11:37

Sun sets maybe the Sun rises too but you

play11:40

take it for granted because it's just

play11:41

happening so how many things in your

play11:43

life are you taking for granted so I

play11:45

will be grateful for

play11:47

you know this table these tables amazing

play11:49

it's like the perfect height right just

play11:51

to hold my book everything is awesome

play11:52

I'm grateful for this hoodie I love this

play11:54

hoodie right it allows the mic to be

play11:56

clipped perfectly on the zipper because

play11:59

my other hoodie is just a turtleneck and

play12:01

it's harder to put them like those kinds

play12:02

of things being grateful for seemingly

play12:04

insignificant things but it actually

play12:06

adds value to my life and so mixing that

play12:09

between that between something big we

play12:11

should give them between family and

play12:13

personal connections and relationships

play12:14

and then something seemingly

play12:16

insignificant and small that is the

play12:18

hidden beauty is the sunset and sunrise

play12:20

set of only looking for the rainbows

play12:22

it's really hard to be grateful for

play12:24

what's happening your life ain't

play12:25

negative at the same time so to

play12:27

eliminate the negativity inject a little

play12:30

more gratitude

play12:31

[Music]

play12:34

wait number six to destroy your negative

play12:36

attitude is to do work you love when you

play12:39

get to do work that you love it's really

play12:40

hard to be negative right and it doesn't

play12:42

mean that every day is amazing I wake up

play12:44

and I do work that I love but there's

play12:45

still there's still moments in the still

play12:47

days that are bad where just chaos

play12:49

happens things blow up didn't go as

play12:51

planned I fail my team fails we make

play12:54

mistakes all over the place that still

play12:56

happens but net I get to do work that I

play12:59

love where if you're doing work that you

play13:01

hate it's really hard to wake up and be

play13:03

happy when you're doing work that you

play13:05

hate you have to force yourself everyday

play13:06

to think okay why how am i grateful for

play13:08

this crappy job how my group over this

play13:09

terrible boss what lessons am i learning

play13:11

to all this the mental exercise you have

play13:13

to force yourself through and so doing

play13:15

work that you love or at least making a

play13:17

plane to get to the work that you love

play13:19

if you want to eventually be an

play13:20

entrepreneur then at least pick an

play13:21

industry where you can learn from it you

play13:23

have the job that's giving you the

play13:24

skills so you can map to you becoming

play13:26

that entrepreneur that you want as it

play13:28

was sustained this job that you really

play13:29

really really really really really

play13:30

really hate and so you don't say they

play13:32

have to burn the boats quit your job

play13:34

throw supper on your boss's office so

play13:36

that there's no chance to you ever

play13:37

coming back but if you're not doing work

play13:39

that you love at least having a plane to

play13:41

work towards it whether that that plan

play13:43

happens this week next week three months

play13:45

a year like you're working towards

play13:47

making that plan happen and if you're

play13:48

seeing progress you've seen hope it's a

play13:51

lot easier to be happy during the day

play13:52

where if you feel like you're stuck in

play13:53

this job doing work you hate forever and

play13:55

ever and amen it's really hard if you

play13:57

happen to be a really happy person

play13:59

[Music]

play14:02

anyway number seven to destroy your

play14:05

negativity is to know and live your one

play14:07

word I think one of the biggest reasons

play14:09

why people aren't happy is they don't

play14:10

know themselves they have zero self

play14:11

awareness and if you don't know yourself

play14:13

your one word is your most important

play14:15

core value if you don't know what it is

play14:16

then you end up live in somebody else's

play14:19

life you end up taking on other people's

play14:21

values when somebody tells you can you

play14:22

do this or please do that or you have to

play14:24

do this you will end up wanting to do it

play14:26

because they have confidence in that

play14:28

thing and you don't have any confidence

play14:29

in yourself if you don't know what you

play14:31

stand for then you don't know what you

play14:33

stand against you have no walls and so

play14:35

people will walk all over you and it may

play14:38

feel wrong or may feel like you have a

play14:39

lot more potential inside you doesn't

play14:41

necessarily mean you're in the mud

play14:42

doesn't mean like you hate your life

play14:44

completely but self-awareness for me is

play14:47

the big factor I think when you know

play14:48

yourself when you know your most

play14:49

important core value when you know what

play14:50

that stands for

play14:51

then it allows you to create a business

play14:54

and a life that is with intent that is

play14:57

purposeful that is meaningful and the

play14:59

people who don't fit in who don't have a

play15:01

similar value to you who don't believe

play15:03

the things that you believe you will

play15:05

never be happy working with them and so

play15:08

if you have the awareness to know what

play15:10

you're saying for what you stand against

play15:11

then those people kind of bounce off you

play15:13

and they can go off and do something

play15:15

else it's just not with you and doesn't

play15:17

mean they're bad people they can be

play15:19

amazing people just not amazing with you

play15:21

so let then go off and do that thing

play15:23

instead of keeping them kind of

play15:24

infecting into your life when you have

play15:27

that stability it's like the rock solid

play15:29

foundation when you have the rock solid

play15:32

foundation of what you stand for your

play15:34

one word your most important core value

play15:36

then it allows you to build that path

play15:38

with confidence which will allow you to

play15:41

be happy and purposeful and meaningful

play15:44

so that's my take on the seven ways to

play15:46

destroy your negative attitude I would

play15:48

love to know which of the seven was the

play15:50

most meaningful to you and why is there

play15:52

an eight nine ten you want to add to the

play15:53

list let me know in the comments below

play15:54

thank you guys so much for watching I

play15:56

believe in you I hope we continue to

play15:58

believe in yourself and whatever your

play16:00

one word is much love I'll see you soon

play16:03

altruistic

play16:04

world domination honey Empire right I'm

play16:07

grateful

play16:08

I understand why I'm here I think

play16:10

because I am so open I wanted to think

play16:12

and see it's a bloody brief life all of

play16:17

you have the potential for enormous

play16:20

success if you want to know what garyvee

play16:23

DJ khalid oprah and others know about

play16:26

empire building that most people miss
