Transcripts
hey guys today i want to talk about
performance anxiety
and what i think is the easiest and most
effective way
of overcoming performance anxiety
now i use this mostly when it comes to
my own
shows i've performed for over 2 million
people live
and made my living primarily as a
performing artist
for over 15 years but you can actually
use this in a lot of situations such as
if you're gonna get up in front of
people at your job and give a speech or
give a presentation or i've also used it
if i was nervous and talking to a girl
if i saw a girl in a restaurant or in a
bar or something like that and
i thought she was really pretty but i
felt kind of nervous to talk to her and
wasn't sure how to sort of overcome that
to be able to go up to her and talk to
her
i've used this exact same method and
it's pretty simple
i've also coached other performing
artists professional performing artists
with this method and it's worked for
them as well so here it is
the feeling of nerves or of feeling
nervous
is actually the same feeling in your
body
as excitement
the difference is what you call it
so when you all of a sudden feel that
feeling in your body of like
oh gosh like i'm nervous like
what what are they gonna think of me how
are they gonna judge me how is that
person gonna react to me
am i gonna do okay that feeling
is actually excitement if you call it
excitement
we get the same sensation in our body
when we feel nervous and we feel excited
it is all what we call it
and i know this sounds a little bit nuts
but try the next time
you feel nervous about doing anything
you get that sensation in your body and
then you go okay i have this sensation
that is
excitement if you interpret it as
excitement
it completely reshapes the way
that you feel about the situation
so now going on stage i always feel feel
nervous before i go on stage
and i get that feeling and it's you know
everything starts to tense up and i go
okay this is excitement
i'm obviously excited because i'm in a
situation
that i don't know what's going to happen
and i'm interpreting this feeling in my
body
as an excitement because i'm achieving
something
new i'm doing something positive and new
and exciting so that's it it's as simple
as that
try it next time if you get a chance
come back and leave a comment on the
video
and let me know if this works for you
but i'll tell you what it's worked for
me
countless times where i saw a girl and
was
really nervous and thought oh i
shouldn't i how can i talk to her
and i go okay i'm excited to talk to her
okay cool
got the excitement now i'm gonna go do
it
