Q & A

  • What is the main criticism against the Ark Encounter project?

-The main criticism is that many people, including some Christians, do not believe in the literal truth of the Bible's story of Noah's Ark and consider the investment in such a project to be unnecessary for a myth or legend.

  • What does the book 'Ready to Return' discuss in relation to the Bible?

-The book 'Ready to Return' presents findings from a study indicating that a significant number of church-attending individuals believe that the Bible contains errors, particularly regarding the Book of Genesis, the age of the Earth, and the historicity of the flood.

  • What is the estimated age of the Earth according to the script?

-The script suggests that based on biblical genealogies and events, the Earth is approximately 6,000 years old, not millions or billions of years as suggested by scientific consensus.

  • Why did God decide to bring the flood according to the script?

-In the script, it is stated that God decided to bring the flood because of the great wickedness of man, with every intent of the human heart being only evil continually, which led to a world filled with suffering and in need of judgment.

  • What are the three main issues people have with the story of Noah's Ark as per the script?

-The script identifies the three main issues as the size and feasibility of the Ark, the number and types of animals that could be accommodated, and the evidence for a global flood.

  • How is the size of Noah's Ark described in the script?

-The script describes the Ark as being 510 feet in length, 85 feet in width, and 51 feet in height, based on the dimensions given in the Bible and using the long cubit measurement of 20.4 inches.

  • What is the significance of the term 'kind' in relation to the animals on the Ark?

-The term 'kind' is used to describe the classification of animals that Noah was instructed to bring onto the Ark, with the script suggesting that 'kind' corresponds to the 'family' level in modern taxonomy, not the species level.

  • Why did Noah take young animals and how does this relate to their reproduction post-flood?

-Noah took young animals because they require less space, eat less, and produce less waste, which is practical for the Ark's journey. Additionally, younger animals have a longer reproductive life, which aligns with the biblical mandate to multiply and fill the Earth after the flood.

  • What is the script's stance on the existence of dinosaurs during the time of Noah's Ark?

-The script asserts that dinosaurs were indeed on the Ark because the Bible mentions every kind of animal, and dinosaurs are considered to be real animals that would have been included.

  • How does the script address the argument that the flood was only local and not global?

-The script refutes the idea of a local flood by pointing out that the Bible clearly states that the flood covered the entire world, and it suggests that geological evidence, such as the rapid formation of canyons, supports the idea of a global catastrophe.

  • What is the importance of the flood narrative in the context of Christian beliefs as presented in the script?

-The script emphasizes that the flood narrative is crucial for Christian beliefs because it sets the stage for the need of a savior, Jesus Christ, who is prophesied to overcome sin and death, and it is integral to understanding the gospel message.

🐘 The Ark Encounter and Biblical Critique

The speaker addresses criticism of the Ark Encounter, a project based on the biblical story of Noah's Ark. Critics, including some Christians, doubt the historical accuracy of the Genesis flood narrative. The speaker laments the lack of belief in the literal truth of the Bible, particularly among Christians. A book titled 'Ready to Return' is mentioned, which discusses a study revealing that many church-going individuals doubt the accuracy of Genesis, including the creation story and the global flood. The speaker aims to establish the historical reality of Noah's Ark and its significance to Christianity, starting with a discussion on the creation account in Genesis, which is believed to have occurred over six 24-hour days. The speaker also touches on the timeframe of Earth's age as per biblical genealogies, suggesting a 6,000-year-old Earth, contrary to scientific estimates of millions or billions of years.

05:02

🌊 The Reality of Noah's Ark and the Global Flood

The speaker delves into the dimensions of Noah's Ark as described in the Bible, correcting common misconceptions of its size. Using the long cubit measurement, the Ark's dimensions are calculated to be 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, making it a massive structure. The speaker argues that the Ark's size is optimal for a cargo ship, considering factors like comfort, stability, and strength. The speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding the Ark's true size to counter the myth that it was a fairy tale or legend. The Ark's perfection in design is attributed to divine instruction. The speaker also discusses the challenge of fitting all the animals on the Ark, explaining that the number of species was not as vast as commonly believed, and that young animals were taken to ensure their survival and reproduction post-flood.

10:03

🦕 Noah's Ark and the Variety of Animals

The speaker discusses the variety of animals that would have been on the Ark, including dinosaurs. It is clarified that only land-dwelling, air-breathing creatures were required to be on board, excluding marine life and possibly insects, significantly reducing the number of animals Noah needed to accommodate. The speaker argues that the Ark's volume could easily contain the necessary animals, dispelling myths about the impossibility of housing all creatures. The focus is on 'kinds' rather than specific species, with the speaker suggesting that a 'kind' corresponds to a family in modern taxonomy. This reduces the number of animals needed on the Ark to a manageable figure. The speaker also addresses the presence of dinosaurs, stating that they were real creatures and would have been included on the Ark, with juveniles being taken to ensure their reproductive potential post-flood.

15:03

🌍 Evidence of the Global Flood and Geological Time

The speaker argues for the reality of a global flood, countering the idea that it might have been local. Evidence from geological formations, such as the Grand Canyon and Engineers Canyon, is presented to support the rapid formation of rock layers, challenging the conventional timeline of geological processes. The speaker also discusses the discovery of soft tissue in dinosaur fossils, which is difficult to reconcile with the idea of millions of years of fossilization. This evidence is used to support the young Earth theory and the historical accuracy of the flood narrative. The speaker emphasizes the importance of the flood narrative as foundational to the rest of the Bible and Christian faith.

20:04

🌁 Post-Flood Developments and the Importance of Biblical History

The speaker discusses the events following the flood, including the Tower of Babel and the dispersion of people across the Earth, leading to the formation of various cultures, many of which have flood legends. The speaker connects the importance of the flood narrative to the rest of the Bible, particularly the promise of Jesus Christ as the seed that would crush the serpent's head, referring to the initial sin in Genesis. The speaker emphasizes the need for Jesus as a solution to the sin problem introduced by Adam and Eve, and the importance of accepting Jesus for salvation. The speaker concludes with a discussion on the final judgment and the hope of a new heaven and a new Earth for believers, urging people to accept Christ and be saved.

💡Ark Encounter

Ark Encounter is a theme park in the United States centered around a life-sized replica of Noah's Ark, as described in the Bible. The park has been a subject of criticism from those who view it as an unnecessary expenditure and question the historical accuracy of the ark's story. In the video, the speaker defends the park's purpose and aims to provide evidence supporting the reality of Noah's Ark, emphasizing its significance in Christian belief and history.

💡Unbelievers

Unbelievers, in the context of the video, refers to those who do not accept the Bible as a true historical account, particularly the story of Noah's Ark. The speaker expresses concern over the skepticism not only from non-believers but also from Christians who doubt the literal interpretation of Genesis, which includes the account of the Ark and the flood.

💡Genesis

Genesis is the first book of the Bible and contains the creation narrative, including the story of Noah's Ark. The video discusses how many people, including some Christians, view the book of Genesis as a myth rather than a historical account. The speaker argues for the literal truth of Genesis, including the reality of the flood and the construction of the Ark.

💡Flood

The flood, as mentioned in the video, refers to the Great Flood described in the Bible, where God decided to cleanse the world of wickedness by sending a massive flood. The speaker addresses skepticism about the flood's global extent and provides arguments to support the idea that it was a real historical event that left traces in the geological record.

💡Cubits

Cubits are ancient units of measurement mentioned in the Bible to describe the dimensions of Noah's Ark. The speaker discusses the size of the Ark in cubits, using a commonly accepted conversion to modern measurements to argue that the Ark's size was feasible for its purpose. This detail is used to counter the idea that the Ark's story is fanciful or impractical.

💡Myth

Myth, in the context of the video, refers to a traditional story that is not based on historical events or accepted as true. The speaker is concerned about the perception of Noah's Ark and the flood as myths rather than historical realities. The video aims to challenge this perception and to assert the historical truth of the biblical account.

💡Creationism

Creationism is the belief that the universe and life originated from specific acts of divine creation, as described in the Bible, rather than through evolutionary processes. The video reflects a creationist viewpoint, with the speaker arguing for a young Earth and the historical accuracy of the biblical account of creation and the flood.

💡Taxonomy

Taxonomy is the scientific classification of organisms into groups based on shared characteristics. The speaker uses the concept of taxonomy to explain the number of animals that would have been on the Ark, arguing that Noah took two of each 'kind' rather than two of every species, which significantly reduces the number of animals required.

💡Global Flood

A global flood, as discussed in the video, is the idea that the flood described in the Bible was worldwide in scope, covering all land with water. The speaker counters the notion that the flood may have been local, pointing to biblical verses and geological evidence to support the idea that the flood was indeed global.

💡Soft Tissue Fossils

Soft tissue fossils refer to the preservation of soft biological tissues within fossils, which is unexpected in the standard geological timescale. The video mentions the discovery of soft tissue in dinosaur fossils, which the speaker uses as evidence against the idea of deep time and in favor of a young Earth, consistent with a biblical timeframe.

💡Tower of Babel

The Tower of Babel is a story in the Bible where people attempted to build a tower to reach heaven, leading God to confuse their languages and scatter them across the Earth. The video connects the story to the diversity of cultures and the widespread presence of flood legends, suggesting that all cultures descend from the group at Babel and remember the flood event.

play00:00

as with any attraction that is based on

play00:01

the truth of God's word you've probably

play00:03

read or heard that we have received a

play00:05

lot of criticism for Ark encounter

play00:07

because to many unbelievers spending

play00:09

aund million doar to build an ark that's

play00:11

based on a story in the Bible doesn't

play00:13

really make any sense because they don't

play00:15

believe that the Bible is true so

play00:16

therefore the ark isn't a real thing

play00:18

that ever existed but what's really sad

play00:20

to me is how many Christians also think

play00:24

that Genesis is a myth and that the

play00:26

flood and the Ark aren't real accounts

play00:28

of something that happened a couple

play00:30

years ago we published a book called

play00:31

ready to return and in it we presented

play00:34

our findings from a study that we did of

play00:36

20s something that um have basically

play00:38

grown up in the church and they still

play00:40

continue to attend church we asked them

play00:43

does the bible contain errors and nearly

play00:45

40% said no or they don't know now we

play00:49

asked them if you believe it has errors

play00:51

what are those errors now this is not a

play00:53

multiple choice question they can answer

play00:55

however they want and then we categorize

play00:57

those answers and over 50% of their

play00:59

answers have something to do with the

play01:01

book of Genesis that it was wrong about

play01:03

the age of the Earth that it's Genesis

play01:05

been disproved or that it never flooded

play01:07

during Noah time and when we ask them a

play01:09

question about the ark itself okay was

play01:11

it actually built or only a legend

play01:15

49% almost half said only a legend so

play01:19

what we want to do during our time today

play01:20

is kind of take a walk through Biblical

play01:22

history as highlighted in these Seven

play01:24

Seas of history that you'll see as you

play01:26

go throughout the museum today and we

play01:27

want to discover the true history and

play01:29

reality of Noah's Ark and help you

play01:32

understand that it's not a story it's

play01:33

not a legend it's not a myth it's real

play01:35

it really happened it's history and why

play01:37

that history is so important to

play01:39

Christianity and to God's work so let's

play01:41

start off with how do we get to the

play01:43

flood in the first place okay why was

play01:45

this necessary and to do that we're

play01:46

going to start with creation and we know

play01:49

from the language it's used in Genesis 1

play01:51

it's clear that God created in 624 hour

play01:54

days and he created obviously different

play01:56

things on different days and then rest

play01:58

it on the seventh day now we also know

play02:00

from scripture especially from the

play02:02

biblical genealogies or the family trees

play02:04

that are given there and other events in

play02:06

scripture we can figure out the age of

play02:08

the Earth so we know from Adam to

play02:10

Abraham was about 2,000 years from

play02:12

Abraham to Christ was another 2,000

play02:14

years and from Christ to today is the

play02:16

last 2,000 years so that gives us a

play02:18

grand total of 6,000 years not millions

play02:21

and billions of years now we know that

play02:22

God's creation was very good it's

play02:24

nothing like the world that we live in

play02:25

today right it's no disease no death no

play02:28

suffering a very very place but it

play02:30

didn't stay that way for very long um

play02:32

which brings us to the second sea which

play02:34

is corruption and we know that Adam and

play02:37

Eve had one thing they were told not to

play02:39

do right and that was to eat from the

play02:41

Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil but

play02:43

that is exactly what they did they

play02:44

disobeyed God and the punishment for

play02:46

their sin was death and all creation

play02:49

groans right as a result of that that's

play02:51

when death and disease and suffering

play02:53

entered this world as a punishment for

play02:55

man's sin now that brings us to the

play02:57

third sea which we're obviously going to

play02:59

spend some time talking about which is

play03:01

catastrophe so this is about 1,500 years

play03:04

after creation and I think in one simple

play03:06

verse the Bible sums up for us the very

play03:08

tragic and horrible effects of Adam's

play03:10

sin it says and the Lord saw that the

play03:13

wickedness of man was great in the earth

play03:14

and that every intent of the thoughts of

play03:16

his heart was only evil continually okay

play03:19

so it was a bad place I think things

play03:21

today are pretty bad they were actually

play03:22

worse um in Noah time because only Noah

play03:25

was found righteous and only he and his

play03:27

family and the animals on the ark were

play03:28

spared for make glob catastrophic flood

play03:30

that would destroy everything else now

play03:32

in my experience there are three big I

play03:34

guess areas that people have questions

play03:36

about when it comes to the flood and the

play03:39

reality of the Ark and the flood and

play03:40

there's three big areas or the three big

play03:42

issues are the ark the animals and the

play03:44

flood itself now obviously in one hour I

play03:46

can't cover every question or objection

play03:48

that people might have but I'm going to

play03:49

focus on those that I think are the

play03:52

major so to speak things all right so

play03:55

first of all how big was the ark now

play03:57

many of us have become accustomed to

play03:59

looking at images of the Ark like this

play04:01

we call these bathtub arcs cuz they're

play04:03

kind of shaped like a bathtub okay um or

play04:06

fairy tale arcs because they're not

play04:08

representative at all of the real thing

play04:10

I always say the only thing realistic

play04:12

about this picture is this elephant

play04:14

right here okay because that elephant

play04:17

knows what's going to happen right on

play04:18

that cute little Aris on cuz when that

play04:20

wave hits what's going to happen the

play04:21

ark's going to capsize right everybody's

play04:23

going to fall everybody's dead that

play04:25

doesn't work and yet this is what we see

play04:27

all the time right this is what we have

play04:29

children play with toys of the Ark like

play04:31

this that's in their books as I've

play04:33

already showed you and I'm thinking what

play04:34

does this say to our children about the

play04:37

ark and the flood because it's not like

play04:38

we don't know okay we we do know because

play04:42

we have um Dimensions given to us in

play04:45

scripture so I wouldn't have a problem

play04:46

if you give them a scale model of the

play04:48

Ark to play with okay something that

play04:50

actually looked was actually you know

play04:52

scaled down from the real thing but this

play04:54

isn't it this is not what it would look

play04:56

like at all because we know that its

play04:58

length was 3 00 cubits its width was 50

play05:01

cubits and its height was 30 cubits and

play05:04

a cubit is considered the length of an

play05:06

adult man's elbow to the tip of his

play05:09

middle finger now depending on the guy

play05:11

that size is obviously going to vary and

play05:13

we don't know exactly what size of Cubit

play05:16

Noah used but we do know that in a lot

play05:18

of ancient um big construction projects

play05:21

so to speak they typically use the long

play05:23

Cubit which is 20.4 in and so that is

play05:26

the Cubit size we use to build Noah's

play05:28

Arc so um the AR at the ark encounter so

play05:31

when you use that Cubit length we do a

play05:33

little bit of math here that means the

play05:35

length is 510 ft its width was 85 ft and

play05:39

its height was 51 ft okay that is very

play05:43

different um from those Fairytail arcs

play05:46

or those bathtub arcs that we just saw

play05:48

now we you don't even have to imagine

play05:51

how big it is because you can go and see

play05:53

the real thing and when people ask me to

play05:55

describe it I usually just say massive

play05:57

because it is the largest um

play05:59

freestanding timber frame structure in

play06:01

the world now research has been

play06:03

conducted on um the dimensions of the

play06:05

Ark to see how they were actually

play06:07

perfect for a cargo ship cuz you have to

play06:09

take into account several factors like

play06:11

Comfort stability and strength and the

play06:13

Ark really Falls dead center in the

play06:15

middle of that triangle it it's the best

play06:17

of all three worlds basically combined

play06:19

that you can get when you have to take

play06:21

all into account because if it were

play06:22

taller longer or wider it would break

play06:25

apart it would tip over or the people

play06:26

and animals would be so sick that they

play06:28

wouldn't be able to survive and and now

play06:30

I say well of course it's perfect cuz

play06:32

God's the one that gave the dimensions

play06:33

for it and he knew exactly what needed

play06:35

to be done now knowing the size of the

play06:37

Ark is really important and and one of

play06:40

the things that we do to illustrate this

play06:42

um at the ark encounter is our exhibit

play06:44

called fairy tale Ark and in it we show

play06:47

a lot of those books and toys that I've

play06:49

already shown you and how we present the

play06:51

ark to children as q and whimsic go and

play06:54

fairy tale like and people would say

play06:55

yeah but come on they're just kids I'm

play06:57

like Yep they're just kids which is why

play06:59

it matters even more how we portray

play07:01

these things to them I I mean if we

play07:03

believe these are his if we believe this

play07:05

is history why are we presenting it like

play07:07

a fairy tale that's not doing Justice to

play07:09

what's in the Bible and it's certainly

play07:11

harming and hurting them by Leading them

play07:13

astray and that's exactly what Satan

play07:15

hopes will do right because he says if I

play07:17

can convince you that the flood was not

play07:19

real then I can convince you that heaven

play07:20

and hell are not real I can convince you

play07:23

that the rest of the Bible isn't true

play07:25

either because after all if it begins

play07:26

with a myth what about the rest of it I

play07:29

mean virgins don't give birth and dead

play07:30

people don't come back to life right

play07:32

this is what Satan has been doing from

play07:34

the very beginning right he is the

play07:36

father of Lies what did he tried to do

play07:38

he tried to get Eve to question God's

play07:40

word did God really say you couldn't do

play07:42

that right I mean that's what he that's

play07:44

what he always does and it was subtle

play07:47

okay but he got her to believe it and as

play07:50

this the Fallen World as a result of

play07:52

that okay so how to Noah then fit all

play07:54

the animals on the ark now honestly I

play07:56

don't think this would be as as much of

play07:58

a question if people would The Arc

play08:00

accurately okay I think we get into

play08:01

problems when we show Fairy Tale arcs

play08:03

and then try to imagine all those

play08:05

animals but like I said it's a very big

play08:07

structure and its volume is equivalent

play08:09

to almost 500 semi-trailers but okay

play08:12

that being said there's a lot of animals

play08:14

in the world today modern estimates as

play08:16

far as how many species are in the world

play08:18

it's somewhere between 2 and 50 million

play08:22

and it could be more than that the

play08:24

number that I've sort of seen they think

play08:25

is the most reasonable estimate is about

play08:28

8 million okay that's sort of the

play08:30

settled upon number right now but this

play08:32

is a question that we get a lot um Bill

play08:34

NY the Science Guy when he debated Ken

play08:36

Ham on this very stage was one of the

play08:38

questions he asked you've got millions

play08:40

of species in the world how could they

play08:42

all possibly fit on the ark first of all

play08:44

remember he only had to take land

play08:46

dwelling air breathing creatures okay he

play08:47

didn't have to take any Marine creatures

play08:49

cuz they've got plenty of water and fish

play08:51

are actually um quite specious there's a

play08:53

lot of species of fish in the world so

play08:56

those numbers that 8 million goes down

play08:58

significantly without Marine creatures

play09:00

probably also doesn't include the

play09:02

insects the thing is is that insects are

play09:04

technically not air breathing so

play09:07

probably was didn't include the insects

play09:09

now even if he did have to take them

play09:11

they're not going to take up that much

play09:12

space right so it's going to be okay um

play09:15

even if he did have to take them but

play09:17

beetles alone are like hundreds of

play09:19

thousands of species so if you take that

play09:22

number insects and Marine creatures out

play09:24

of 8 million that number is going to

play09:25

dramatically go down and again the

play09:27

reason I say it's just air breathing

play09:29

land Bing creatures is because that's

play09:31

what scripture says it says the birds

play09:32

the animals and the creeping things okay

play09:35

will come to you to keep them alive

play09:37

that's it okay nothing else the next

play09:39

part of that answer number two is that

play09:41

they had he probably brought young

play09:43

adults and I would say he brought God

play09:45

brought the animals to him and then he

play09:47

took them actually on the ark the reason

play09:49

for younger animals would be because

play09:50

they take up less space they eat less

play09:53

and they produce less waste so all of

play09:55

those things are good when you're

play09:56

talking a survival cruise with a lot of

play09:58

animal cargo the other reason is because

play10:01

they would have the longest reproductive

play10:02

Life After the flood and that's what you

play10:04

want right you're to multiply and fill

play10:06

the Earth well you don't want to take

play10:08

really old animals that aren't going to

play10:09

reproduce much you want to take really

play10:11

young ones and again we know that

play10:12

reproduction was in mind here because of

play10:15

what God says a male and a female to

play10:17

keep them alive on the face of all the

play10:19

Earth the last part of this question

play10:21

which I think is the or this answer

play10:22

which I think is the most important to

play10:24

understand is that knowah how to take

play10:25

two of each kind not two of each species

play10:29

okay and that word kind is repeated over

play10:31

and over and over again here as well as

play10:33

in the in the Genesis account of

play10:35

creation we see that word now what is a

play10:38

kind just like we said what is a cubit

play10:40

well when you think about our modern

play10:42

taxonomy and the way that we classify

play10:44

things kind is usually we usually would

play10:46

say that's about the same as family so

play10:49

hopefully you all remember this from

play10:51

biology class right Kingdom bom class

play10:53

order family genus species is how we

play10:56

classify organisms so we would say that

play10:59

Falls at that family level not genus and

play11:02

not species okay not down here not 8

play11:04

million but up here which is

play11:06

significantly less at the family level

play11:09

so just to give you an example of that

play11:10

all dogs belong to the family Canada it

play11:13

doesn't matter whether you're talking

play11:14

Foxes or Wolves or coyotes or a

play11:17

Chihuahua um they all belong to Canada

play11:20

same with cats okay whether you're

play11:21

talking a lion a panther a tiger or

play11:24

kitty cat um like you might have at home

play11:26

those are all from the family F day and

play11:28

the reason we say it's at the family

play11:30

level is because most members of a

play11:33

family of the same family can breed with

play11:35

one another and produce Offspring okay

play11:37

it's sort of a reproductive unit right

play11:39

now today we have about close to 400

play11:43

breeds of dogs breeds of domestic dog

play11:46

but Noah did not have to take 400 pairs

play11:47

of dogs on the ark most of those breeds

play11:49

didn't even exist when Noah was taking

play11:52

animals on the ark okay those are those

play11:54

have just come about in about the last

play11:56

500 years most of these breeds have only

play11:58

been around for for a short period of

play12:00

time again there just variations within

play12:02

the dog family so Noah only took two

play12:04

dogs on the ark and from those two dogs

play12:07

um after they came off the arc they

play12:09

multiplied and reproduced So eventually

play12:11

we got lots of dogs okay there's only

play12:13

about 35 dog species in the world you

play12:17

realize all these dogs that I'm showing

play12:19

you up here and the Wolf all belong to

play12:21

the same species they're all canis lupus

play12:23

um they're just different breeds of dogs

play12:25

and there's a lot of variety among the

play12:27

breeds you've got Dan and you've got

play12:30

Chihuahuas right I mean they look pretty

play12:32

different don't they how is that

play12:34

possible they descended from the wolf

play12:36

through people selecting for certain

play12:39

traits okay and they keep breeding them

play12:41

back and breeding them back and breeding

play12:43

them back and getting dogs that

play12:44

eventually just keep producing dogs that

play12:46

look like Chihuahua or Bulldogs or

play12:48

whatever it may be that's through people

play12:50

selecting and making those choices

play12:51

people have been able to do that in 500

play12:53

years we've gotten about 400 breeds of

play12:55

dogs okay so what can happen in a few

play12:58

thousand years certainly you can get 35

play13:00

species in a few thousand and that's

play13:02

through nature and other other

play13:04

mechanisms that work not people

play13:06

selecting but natural mechanisms that

play13:08

cause that to happen back when we knew

play13:10

we were going to build Arc encounter

play13:11

when we first knew this was going to

play13:13

become a reality myself as well as

play13:15

several other scientists had to get

play13:17

together and do some a lot of research

play13:19

and figure out what is a reasonable

play13:21

estimate of number of animals for the

play13:23

ark and knowing that he took two of

play13:25

every kind and seven pairs of some okay

play13:28

so we had you look at what then of the

play13:31

all of the animals that are alive today

play13:33

and all of the animals we only know from

play13:35

the fossil record okay and take all of

play13:37

those and put them into their kinds

play13:39

their original kinds woo that's a big

play13:41

job um but as far as mammals go there's

play13:43

about close to 550 kinds Birds almost

play13:46

300 kinds reptiles a little over 300

play13:49

kinds and then amphibians about 250

play13:52

kinds which gives us a grand total of

play13:55

almost 1,400 kinds or 7,000 animals Okay

play13:58

so that's all that was needed on the ark

play14:01

again if you're taking at the family

play14:02

level or the kind level there's really

play14:04

not as many now whatever you do don't

play14:06

take those kind numberb and multiply by

play14:07

two you guys remember Noah had to take

play14:09

seven pairs of some the clean animals

play14:12

and the winged creatures so that's why

play14:13

you end up with a lot of birds on the

play14:15

ark now what animal though do you think

play14:17

I get asked most about when it comes to

play14:19

the ark dinosaurs okay by far are the

play14:22

thing that people want to know about the

play14:23

most were dinosaurs on the ark and I say

play14:26

of course they were okay cuz what does

play14:28

the Bible say of every living thing of

play14:30

All Flesh animals after their kind will

play14:33

come to you to keep them alive well that

play14:35

includes the dinosaurs you know we know

play14:37

about them from the fossil record they

play14:38

were real animals living animals at some

play14:40

point now there's plenty of room for

play14:42

them on um The Ark okay I think we get

play14:45

taken in by things like Jurassic Park

play14:47

and Jurassic world and we get this idea

play14:49

that all dinosaurs are like ginormous

play14:51

okay and scary the fact is though the

play14:54

average size of a dinosaur is like

play14:56

Buffalo size okay so think large cow

play14:59

right that's the average size of a

play15:01

dinosaur some of them are very big some

play15:03

of them are very small most of them are

play15:05

just right in in the middle there so not

play15:07

a problem there's plenty of room on the

play15:08

ark for that Noah would have taken

play15:10

juvenile or God would have brought to

play15:12

him juvenile dinosaurs okay again

play15:14

they're going to have the longest

play15:15

reproductive Life After the flood so

play15:17

that just makes sense Noah was not

play15:20

trying to do this okay to saying that

play15:23

sod's going to have a hard time fitting

play15:25

through that door now once he got in

play15:27

he'd be okay he'd fit but still getting

play15:30

through might be an issue so Noah's

play15:32

going to take the young ones right

play15:33

everything starts out small including

play15:35

Dinosaurs the largest dinosaur eggs are

play15:37

like the size of a football so it's not

play15:39

going to be a problem um to fit them on

play15:41

the ark there's only about 60 to 80

play15:43

dinosaur kinds or family so you're not

play15:46

talking that many dinosaurs it's

play15:47

actually a small minority of the animals

play15:49

on the ark less than 200 total so we do

play15:52

show a few of those at the ark like the

play15:53

stegosaurus kind and then the um sarod

play15:56

kind now again these guys are going to

play15:57

grow up to be some of the biggest land

play15:59

animals on the planet but they start out

play16:01

really small so we talked about the ark

play16:03

we talked about how all those animals

play16:04

could fit cuz it's not all that many

play16:06

animals after all and now we need to

play16:08

talk about the flood is there evidence

play16:09

of a global flood because if something

play16:11

covered if water covered the entire

play16:12

world at some point there should be

play16:14

evidence of that now one of the things

play16:16

that I hear a lot is that Christians

play16:18

that are trying to kind of go along with

play16:20

what the world says but also believe

play16:22

what the Bible says we say well maybe

play16:23

the flood was just a local flood okay it

play16:25

didn't cover the entire world it just

play16:27

covered the area in which a Noah liit

play16:30

scripture makes it clear again just like

play16:33

we know the size of the Ark we know that

play16:35

the flood covered the entire world it

play16:36

says All Flesh on the earth Everything

play16:39

All Flesh everything shall on the Earth

play16:42

shall die right even says all the high

play16:45

hills not some of them all of them were

play16:48

covered by 15 cubits of water that's

play16:50

about 23 25 ft above the um highest hill

play16:54

so if it's a local flood how does that

play16:57

work think about that picture minute

play16:59

some of you are chuckling you get it

play17:00

right so if it's a local flood what

play17:02

seriously it's just going to go 15

play17:04

cubits upward of the closest of the

play17:06

highest toll in the area does water work

play17:08

that way I mean when you turn on in your

play17:10

bathtub do you think that bathtub is

play17:11

going to stop it the edge is going to

play17:13

stop it from going over no now because

play17:16

as Christians we have a reasoned faith

play17:18

we do not have a blind one so in other

play17:20

words we know certain truths from God's

play17:22

word so we expect to see certain things

play17:24

in the world and we see those things and

play17:26

those things confirm and support that

play17:28

God's word is true all right so we

play17:30

should expect to see things um like

play17:33

certain like we're going to talk about

play17:34

in the relationship to rock layers and

play17:36

the fossils probably many of us are

play17:38

familiar with geological time scales

play17:40

that look like this one that the lower

play17:42

you go in the Rock layers the older that

play17:45

rock is the older the fossils are and as

play17:47

you go more towards the surface the

play17:49

younger they are and there's certain you

play17:50

know fossils associated with different

play17:52

level now here's the question does it

play17:54

really take millions of rock millions of

play17:55

years for rock lers to form or can they

play17:58

actually form quickly under the right

play18:00

conditions this is called Engineers

play18:01

Canyon it's 140th the scale of the Grand

play18:04

Canyon it was cut out in 9 hours that's

play18:06

all it took right it just took a

play18:08

catastrophe I would say the same is true

play18:10

for the Grand Canyon when you go there

play18:12

now when you go there they'll tell you

play18:13

the Colorado River carved that out over

play18:15

millions of years nope it did not

play18:17

there's no way it would not look like

play18:18

that it looks a lot like it happened

play18:21

very very quickly not that long ago one

play18:23

of the evidences of that is the fact

play18:25

that the the faces of the canyon are

play18:27

very steep okay and they don't look like

play18:28

they've been weathered away for millions

play18:30

of years right now let's go on and talk

play18:32

about the fossils and one of my favorite

play18:34

thing to deal with with fossils um is

play18:37

talking about soft tissue okay stretchy

play18:39

soft tissue that we find inside um

play18:42

dinosaur bones what you're seeing here

play18:44

is uh dinosaur soft tissue so this is

play18:47

blood vessels right here that's what

play18:48

these are and the things inside the

play18:50

blood vessels are exactly what we would

play18:52

expect these are red blood cells of

play18:54

course when you see something like this

play18:55

it's like well is it real or is it just

play18:57

an artifact of something that they did

play18:59

to the fossil and so what they did was

play19:01

they did protein analysis of these

play19:02

structures to say are they really what

play19:04

we think they are or not turns out they

play19:06

are okay they have the exact proteins we

play19:09

would expect to find in blood vessels

play19:10

and in red blood cells I did a lot of

play19:12

work on bone biology for my graduate

play19:14

study so I know what it should look like

play19:16

fresh bone looks a lot like this only

play19:18

this is supposedly 65 million years old

play19:21

so what do they say how do they try to

play19:22

deal with this in their worldview they

play19:24

would say well look it can last millions

play19:27

of years not oh maybe it's actually a

play19:29

lot younger okay which is what this

play19:32

would definitely indicate they're going

play19:33

to keep on believing that in spite of

play19:36

the evidence okay this isn't plausible

play19:38

in a millions of year scenario it's only

play19:41

plausible if these things are a few

play19:42

thousand years old so we talked about

play19:44

the three big issues or I've given you

play19:46

some answers to hopefully some questions

play19:48

or objections that people have with the

play19:49

ark the animals and the flood and and

play19:51

now we want to go on and we talk just

play19:53

real briefly about the rest of these

play19:55

seas because to show you again why the

play19:57

flood is so important why is that matter

play19:59

for the rest of scripture about 100

play20:01

Years After the flood we come to the Sea

play20:03

of Confusion And so God had told Noah

play20:06

and his family to multiply and fill the

play20:07

Earth but they didn't listen they

play20:09

disobeyed and they multiplied but they

play20:10

stayed in one place and they built this

play20:12

Tower and so God judged their Rebellion

play20:14

by confusing their languages right and

play20:16

as a result it's called the Tower of

play20:18

Babel right they did migrate out they

play20:19

did fill the Earth and from that we

play20:21

actually get the formation of the

play20:22

different people groups or ethnicities

play20:24

or cultures in different areas now

play20:26

what's interesting is almost every

play20:28

single one of those cultures has a flood

play20:29

Legend now how is that well it makes

play20:31

sense from a Biblical view it's pretty

play20:33

hard to explain from a non a

play20:35

non-biblical view how 300 different

play20:38

ethnicities could have a very very

play20:41

similar account to the one that's in the

play20:43

Bible Well they have that because all of

play20:45

them were together at the Tower of Babel

play20:47

they were listening to Noah sham and

play20:48

jath so why are these flood Legends okay

play20:51

why are they miss why do they have

play20:53

things in them that there's no way that

play20:54

makes them no way could be true well

play20:56

because like a really bad game of tele

play20:58

phone as you pass the whisper along

play21:00

right it gets message gets distorted and

play21:02

changed why does creation corruption

play21:05

catastrophe and confusion which are the

play21:07

first four sees found in the first 11

play21:09

chapters of Genesis why does that really

play21:11

matter well it matters for the last

play21:13

three beginning with Christ and again we

play21:16

know from scripture that his birth is

play21:19

first promised in Genesis right in

play21:21

Genesis 3:15 after Adam and Eve sin God

play21:24

is cursing them God is cursing a serpent

play21:27

who who Again temp to Eve says and I

play21:29

will put imity or hatred between you and

play21:31

the woman and between your seed and her

play21:34

seed capital s that seed is Jesus Christ

play21:38

yes Satan would bruise his heel he would

play21:40

die horrific death on the cross but

play21:42

Jesus Christ would crush Satan's head by

play21:44

dying and resurrecting from the dead all

play21:46

right so that's what we need to

play21:48

understand that promise because of what

play21:49

Adam and Eve just did we need the rest

play21:52

of the Bible right cuz what's the rest

play21:54

of the Bible about the Prophecies of

play21:56

Jesus coming his coming and is coming

play21:59

again right that's what it's all about

play22:01

it's all about Jesus and we need him we

play22:03

need the cross because of what happened

play22:06

in Genesis chter 3 because Adam sined

play22:09

because we have a sin problem we need a

play22:12

sin solution right we have the bad news

play22:15

in Genesis we need the good news of

play22:17

Jesus Christ and and Paul talked about

play22:20

this a lot he said for as an Adam all

play22:22

die even so in Christ all shall be made

play22:24

alive and so it is written the first man

play22:26

Adam became a living being the last Adam

play22:28

became became a life-giving spirit so we

play22:30

have that very obvious connection

play22:31

between Adam and the gospel itself Jesus

play22:34

through his death and Resurrection paid

play22:35

the penalty for our sins he is the only

play22:38

way by which we can be saved and how are

play22:41

we saved it's it's actually really easy

play22:43

if we confess and we confess we repent

play22:45

of our sins We believe We will be saved

play22:48

that's what that's the essence of the

play22:50

gospel and it's really important that we

play22:51

make that decision now because just as

play22:53

the people in Noah's time suffered

play22:55

judgment there is another one coming the

play22:58

final judgement right in 2 Peter 3 we

play23:00

read about this it says there will be

play23:01

scoffers in the last days that will say

play23:03

where's the promise of his coming for

play23:05

since the fathers fell asleep all things

play23:06

continue as they were from the beginning

play23:08

of creation people say eh nothing's

play23:10

going to happen right everything's

play23:12

always been this way it will continue to

play23:13

be this way that's for this they

play23:15

willfully forget that by the word of God

play23:17

the heavens were of old and they are

play23:18

standing out of the water and in the

play23:20

water so they scoff at creation they

play23:22

don't believe that and they scoff at the

play23:24

flood by which the world that then exist

play23:26

it perish being flooded with water and

play23:28

we see this today very clearly I mean

play23:30

people say when are the last days well

play23:32

ever since Jesus's time Jesus's

play23:34

resurrection right we've had the past

play23:36

2,000 years these are the last days and

play23:38

so we see people people were doing it in

play23:40

Peter's time I'm sure and they're doing

play23:42

it today they scoff at creation they

play23:44

scoff at the flood they say eh that's

play23:46

not true well and if that's not true

play23:49

then the gospel isn't true because the

play23:50

gospel is rooted in that history it's

play23:52

why we need Jesus Christ but Peter warns

play23:54

us like I say there's going to be

play23:55

another judgment whether people believe

play23:57

it or not and this time will not be by

play23:58

flood because God promised he would

play24:00

never do that again but by fire but God

play24:03

is patient and he wants people to repent

play24:05

and be saved he's longsuffering not

play24:06

willing that any should perish but that

play24:08

all should come to repentance because

play24:10

he's a gracious merciful loving

play24:12

compassionate God and he wants people to

play24:14

come through the door of his son Jesus

play24:16

Christ to be saved and because what's

play24:19

going to happen eventually we're going

play24:20

to have the consummation when there'll

play24:21

be a new heavens and a new Earth and if

play24:23

we know Christ as our savior we get to

play24:25

spend eternity with him forever and that

play24:28

new Heaven and new earth and I know I'll

play24:30

be there and I want as many people as

play24:32

possible to be there with me and that's

play24:34

why we witness that's why we do what we

play24:36

do even here at the Creation Museum and

play24:38

the Ark encounter
