play00:01

I'm going to share information with you

play00:03

today and in the future

play00:05

that literally has the power to change your life.

play00:08

Now, you see, I'm not able to change your life

play00:10

but you certainly are. And I have found that it's ideas

play00:14

that literally change everything in our life.

play00:18

Many many years ago, I'm going back over 50 years ago,

play00:23

I was fortunate enough to be handed a book,

play00:26

Think and Grow Rich.

play00:28

But along with the book, the man that gave it to me

play00:31

gave me specific directions on how to use it.

play00:35

I guess today you'd have called him my coach or my mentor.

play00:38

He was just actually a real good friend

play00:41

that was able to see something in me

play00:42

that I couldn't see in myself.

play00:44

Now, up to that time,

play00:45

I had gone down every road you could think of

play00:48

but none of them lead to a good end.

play00:50

I was on the wrong road

play00:52

and my life was just dull.

play00:56

I couldn't earn any money.

play00:57

I wasn't particularly happy.

play00:58

I never got a good job.

play01:00

I had no formal education, a couple of months high school

play01:03

and I had no actual business experience

play01:05

but you know by following this man's direction,

play01:09

oh, by the way, he said,

play01:11

"If you do exactly what I tell you

play01:14

until you find out that I'm lying to you

play01:16

or I don't know what I'm talking about

play01:18

is you're gonna end up a big winner."

play01:20

Now, he said, I don't lie

play01:22

and I do know what I'm talking about.

play01:24

I wouldn't even wanna guess

play01:25

the number of people I've said that to

play01:27

over the past 40 some years

play01:30

but at any rate, I started to follow his direction.

play01:32

I went from 4,000 to 175,000 in a year,

play01:37

and then I took it over a million.

play01:39

Now, you may be wondering what I was doing.

play01:40

I was cleaning floors.

play01:41

I started to clean one office.

play01:44

I got $30 a month for washing the floor twice.

play01:47

And I ended up in less than five years

play01:50

cleaning floors in Toronto, Montreal,

play01:51

Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, London, England.

play01:54

The thing took off like a rocket.

play01:57

But when I got there, I'm sitting, thinking,

play01:59

how the heck did this happen?

play02:02

You know there was a lot of people cleaning floors

play02:03

but they weren't doing what I was doing.

play02:05

There was a lot of people reading Think and Grow Rich

play02:07

but they weren't doing what I was doing.

play02:09

And I had to ask myself what happened.

play02:12

I had been raised to believe probably much the same as you

play02:15

that if you're gonna earn a lot of money,

play02:16

you gotta be really smart.

play02:18

I knew I wasn't very smart but I was earning a lot of money.

play02:22

So, I started looking and I started searching.

play02:26

It took me nine years and I finally got the dots to connect.

play02:31

And when I got the dots to connect

play02:33

and I figured out why I changed,

play02:35

I realized I had discovered something very very valuable.

play02:40

You know this may sound odd but it's true.

play02:44

You can go into the largest companies in the world

play02:47

and they all have stars but relatively few of them

play02:51

can tell you why they're stars.

play02:53

They don't know why they're stars.

play02:54

Find the top sales person in any organization.

play02:59

99 out of a 100 of them

play03:00

cannot tell you why they're the top sales people.

play03:03

You see, if they knew or if the company knew,

play03:06

the company would can it and give it to everybody.

play03:10

Well, I knew why I was winning.

play03:13

Now, mind ya, it took me nine years to figure it out.

play03:16

I studied with some of the most brilliant

play03:18

people in the world and when I got it figured out,

play03:21

all I wanted to do was share it.

play03:23

I wanted everybody to know it.

play03:25

It was such a simple thing

play03:27

and it was such a phenomenal discovery for me

play03:31

but I had a problem.

play03:33

I was shy, and I was very quiet,

play03:36

and I was withdrawn.

play03:37

I mean, I wouldn't ask a question

play03:40

in front of four, five people.

play03:43

Sometimes, I wouldn't ask a question anywhere

play03:45

because I was so insecure in that area.

play03:49

Very knowledgeable in one area, but very insecure.

play03:53

And one day, I was standing in the back of the ballroom

play03:58

at the O'Hare Hyatt Hotel

play04:00

and there were 1000 people in the audience

play04:03

and they were broken into two banks, 500 here, 500 here

play04:07

with an aisle down the center.

play04:09

Bill Gove was the speaker.

play04:12

Now, Bill's gone now, God bless him

play04:14

but he was considered the Frank Sinatra of speakers.

play04:18

I mean, he was the best in the world and I was watching him

play04:21

and he had a handheld mic

play04:23

and he was on the front corner of the group

play04:26

on the right hand side of the ballroom.

play04:28

And he's saying, "If I wanna be free, I've gotta be me,

play04:34

not the me I think you think I should be,

play04:37

not the me I think my wife thinks I should be,

play04:40

not the me I think my kids think I should be.

play04:44

If I wanna be free, I've gotta be me."

play04:48

Now, he said, "I better know who me is."

play04:52

Now, I'm standing in the back of the room watching him

play04:55

and I was thinking, if I could only do that.

play04:58

I wanted to share this information so much but I was shy.

play05:04

Now, let me digress for a second.

play05:06

I had to listened to Earl Nightingale for years.

play05:09

I burned Earl's messages into my mind.

play05:13

The first recording in a great series of recordings,

play05:17

the Lead the Field program,

play05:19

the first recording was on the magic word

play05:22

and it was 'Attitude.'

play05:23

And at one point in the record,

play05:26

he said, "Now, right here we come to a rather strange fact:

play05:30

We tend to minimize the things we can do,

play05:32

the goals we can accomplish

play05:34

and for some equally strange reason,

play05:36

we think other people can accomplish things

play05:38

that we cannot."

play05:39

He said, "I want you to understand that's not true.

play05:41

"You've got deep reservoirs of talent

play05:43

and ability within you."

play05:45

Now, if you asked me if I understood that,

play05:49

I'd say of course I understand it.

play05:51

I listen to that.

play05:53

I'll bet I had listened to that at least 1000 times

play05:56

in the nine years that I was searching for why was I winning.

play06:01

And if you'd asked me, I'd have said, yeah, I understood it.

play06:03

I didn't understand it at all.

play06:06

And I'm sitting there, standing actually watching Bill Gove

play06:10

and that record started to play in my head

play06:13

and I could hear Earl Nightingale say,

play06:15

"Now, right here, we come to a rather strange fact.

play06:18

We tend to minimize."

play06:19

And I thought, that's what he means by that.

play06:23

And I made up my mind.

play06:24

I was not only going to do, and learn to do,

play06:27

what Bill Gove had just done in front of me,

play06:30

I was gonna get him to teach me. And I did.

play06:35

And Bill Gove and I became great friends.

play06:38

In fact, the last speech Bill Gove made was for my company.

play06:44

That's right.

play06:46

It was about five years ago.

play06:48

It was in December.

play06:51

On the 13th of December, Bill Gove passed away.

play06:54

If he had lived till January, he would have been 90.

play06:57

He did what he loved right up until the last day.

play07:01

But I owe him such a vote of thanks.

play07:05

Now, I don't speak at all like Bill Gove,

play07:09

but I speak all over the world.

play07:11

I've spoken to groups of 50 people to 20,000

play07:16

and you know something?

play07:17

He taught me to be comfortable in front of the camera

play07:21

or in front of the people.

play07:23

And he said, Bob, if you wanna be effective,

play07:27

just think of the people you're talking to.

play07:29

Just fall in love with the idea of helping them

play07:32

and he said and you can help them

play07:34

because you've got valuable information.

play07:36

Now, that was 46 years ago.

play07:39

I didn't lose the shyness like that.

play07:42

It took a little while, but with the proper coaching,

play07:46

it left me.

play07:47

I didn't lose the good side of shyness.

play07:50

I can enjoy being by myself.

play07:51

I spend a lot of time by myself on the road.

play07:54

But the bad side of it is

play07:56

I was afraid to express myself freely

play07:59

in front of other people, and I got over that.

play08:02

I got rid of the doubts.

play08:04

Now, I would imagine you have doubts

play08:08

in a number of different areas

play08:09

and possibly in an area you really don't want them

play08:12

and they're certainly not serving you well.

play08:15

You're gonna find Six Minutes to Success

play08:18

is a program that's designed

play08:22

to show you how to eliminate the doubts

play08:24

and how to get results.

play08:28

We get results that stick and that's so important

play08:33

because I've studied a lot of material.

play08:35

I've watched a lot of people working.

play08:37

And you can read a book or listen to some recordings

play08:40

or going to a seminar and you'll find that right away

play08:43

there's a blip in your results, they get better

play08:46

but they come right back down.

play08:47

They don't stick.

play08:50

Here in our company, in the Proctor Gallagher Institute,

play08:54

we deal with results that stick

play08:58

and you're going to love this

play09:00

because we give you phenomenal information.

play09:02

Now, the one point

play09:04

that I want you to burn into your mind right now

play09:07

and it may be totally illogical at first,

play09:10

watch this over and over and over and over again.

play09:14

It's the repetition that fixes it in your mind.

play09:18

And when it's fixed in your mind, baby, you've got it.

play09:21

And you know you've got it.

play09:25

We're gonna give you results that stick.
