upgrade here and if Russ is willing to

sign with the Steelers for the vet vet

minimum which is what the expectation is

Wilson in my opinion if you are the

Pittsburgh Steelers especially if he is

offering to come to you and play for you

on the vet minimum because remember he's

going to be making $39 million

regardless from the Denver Broncos in

2024 so if he says hey I'll come and

play for you guys for 1.2 million

against your cap that's the vet minimum

I'm taking that 100% of the time because

it is a no risk or at least very little

risk investment that has super high

upside when it comes to signing Russell

Wilson so there's a couple reasons why

it makes sense to sign Russell Wilson

number one is the affordability aspect

which essentially takes away any risk of

of picking him up this uh free agency

period right it's just 1.2 million

that's it so if he stinks you can bench

him or you can cut him next season or

whatever the case may be and you can

move on from them as opposed to somebody

like a Justin Fields where you have to

invest draft capital and you have to

pick up his fifth year option and with

Russell Wilson if he stinks and he

doesn't work out you can simply move on

in the 2025 off season so there is

practically no risk involved and then

also if you're paying your starting

quarterback $1.2 million that opens up

so many opportunities for you in free

agency to sign maybe another wide

receiver or or a cornerback or an inside

linebacker or somewhere else to fill out

the rest of the roster holes on this

team and it just opens up so many

interesting opportunities from a

financial standpoint and it essentially

has no risk because you're paying him so

little heading into the year the second

reason why it makes sense to go out and

get Russell Wilson is that he's still a

good NFL quarterback now I know because

the Broncos benched him and that they

now that they have cut him the narrative

surrounding him is that Russell Wilson

is a bad NFL quarterback that is

completely washed but if you look at his

numbers and you actually watch his film

that is not the case whatsoever let's

just compare him to kurk cousins who

people are saying is worth $ 35 to $40

million per season in free agency right

now Russell Wilson was more accurate

than him he had a higher On Target

percentage he had a higher touchdown

percentage so he was more efficient

getting the ball in the end zone he had

a higher BigTime throw percentage in

fact much higher than Kurt Cousins and

then the interception percentage and

quarterback rating are right around the

same ballpark as cousins even though

both of them are 35 years old and

Russell Wilson will cost the Steelers

almost $35 million less to add to their

football team and then you know let's

let's throw out the Kurt Cousins uh

comparison here and let's just compare

Russell Wilson to what is on the roster

right now with Kenny picket and it's not

even close you look at the accuracy

numbers Russell Wilson clearly the more

accurate quarterback he's the more

efficient quarterback with the higher

yards per attempt the touchdown

percentage it's almost F it's almost

four points higher with Russell Wilson

that is an astronomical divide there

between the talent level and in the

efficiency level here between Russell

Wilson and Kenny picket and also another

thing worth mentioning about this is

that one of the big things with Kenny

picket that people point to as to why he

deserves another chance is the low

interception number but Russell Wilson

is actually top five all time in

interception percentage it is absolutely

fantastic he he he not only pushes the

ball down the field but he also protects

the football Russell Wilson is

absolutely an upgrade Over Kenny picket

at this point in his career uh so if

you're going to say that you know you're

not going to get Russell because Kenny

Pickett's the better quarterback that

just simply isn't true then we get to

reason number three here which is that

uh you can still keep Kenny picket if

you are the Pittsburgh Steelers and you

sign Russell Wilson let's say you don't

want to give up on Kenny picket just yet

you know you want to say okay you know

he was injured last year towards the end

and Matt Canada was a terrible offensive

coordinator and we don't want to give up

on him just yet fine bring in Russell

Wilson now and do what the New York Jets

did last year by bringing in a veteran

quarterback and then keeping your first

round QB last year for the Jets it was

Zack Wilson this year for the Steelers

it would be Kenny picket with Russell

Wilson in that Aaron Rogers role now

obviously it didn't work out for the

Jets with Aaron Rogers getting hurt on

the first drive of the season but with

the Steelers here this makes sense cuz

you're bringing in a nice solid veteran

quarterback that you're hoping can get

you into the win column and get you into

Super Bowl contention in the short term

while still keeping Kenny picket on the

roster and hopefully he can develop in

this offense to be the eventual answer

at the quarterback position for this

team and listen at the end of the day

guys if Russell Wilson stinks like I

said you can just cut him or bench him

and you're not really going to have any

repercussions and you can give Kenny

picket the rest of this season to really

prove that he is that guy here in

Pittsburgh but listen Rush rolling into

the season with Kenny picket as your

number one guy as opposed to the

fallback option I do not think is the

right decision for the Pittsburgh

Steelers so coming up here we got the

one final uh reason why I think it makes

sense to sign Russell Wilson it's

actually the number one reason for me

quarterbacks in the history of the

National Football League all right this

is another thing people point to with

Kenny picket say that you know he's so

good in the clutch he delivers in the

clutch well guess who does that too

Russell Wilson top 10 alltime in

game-winning drives and then top 10

alltime in fourth quarter comebacks he

has four game-winning drives and four

fourth quarter comebacks in the

postseason as well and listen man this

guy's still kicking he's only 30 5 years

old he might have a couple more years of

really good football left in him and by

the time Russell Wilson is done playing

football he might be top five in both of

these categories especially if you can

come to the Steelers a team that's ready

to win Super Bowls and ready to compete

for Super Bowls right now in my opinion

and I really do think that if he comes

here he's going to pad these numbers

even more and at the end of the day he's

going to be top five in both of these

categories so in conclusion here all

right I really do believe that Russell

Wilson is the answer for the Pittsburgh

Steelers at the quarterback position

this year you're taking on essentially

zero Risk by assigning him to the vet

minimum if he stinks you can just put

Kenny picket in for the rest of the

season and then that's his try out to be

the franchise quarterback moving forward

however if he's really good and I do

think that he's still a good quarterback

you're looking at somebody who's one of

the most clutch QBs in the history of

the National Football League who doesn't

turn the football over who is a great

deep ball that can pair with George

pickin's deep ball ability as a wide

receiver I think this is the perfect

move for the Pittsburgh Steelers for a

bevy of different reasons and signing

Russ allows you to keep Kenny picket on

the roster and keep the door open to a

potential future with him as your
