today I love how they're starting to use

the term EDC on their packaging and

let's see if this can really stack up to

the competition that's available online

we're also going to address kind of the

elephant in the room of why this is

probably the knife of America not the

knives that we usually talk about on

this

channel okay so before we get started I

want to point something out we cover a

lot of knives on this channel that we

get online and the competition there is

quite a bit more expansive there is just

so many options so many great value

prospects you can get incredible knives

for $ 20 and $30

online but for every knife bought online

about 20 of these are probably purchased

I'm serious like the amount of knives

that are being sold in these you know

physical locations just Trump almost

anything that we we sell so it's

important to be aware of what you can

get and if you were to show up in a

random place you got off a plane and you

wanted a knife for a weekend it might be

nice to know what options you have so is

this a reasonable option for like a

weekend Adventure so you have a knife

with you wherever you go

uh let's let's start with the packaging

first of all I like how they're now

calling it EDC which I find very funny I

wonder how many people even know what

that means when they look at this

package quick flip uh this is talking

about the fact that it has a flipper tab

on the back it has ball bearings

aluminum handle and a wire clip it does

not State what steel except for saying

that it is stainless steel so let's take

a look at this real quick I'm actually

really thankful that they put the clip

in multiple positions and I'm really

happy with how strong that tension is

overall Color Me impressed and it sits

so low in the pocket you don't see any

of that yellow at all but it's going to

be instantly visible if you're using

this knife all of these things actually

I really really like so so far so good

now how is it performing on action I'm

going to try to make it fail and I

can't Color Me impressed the detent on

this knife at least mine my specific one

is actually prettyy good and even more

impressive that's a drop shut action on

a $15 knife okay we're already starting

out pretty good for what is a very

inexpensive knife now this is a tanter

design and dare I say that grind is

even what what is this all

about all right there must be something

wrong right all right so we have partial

serration here now one thing I usually

don't like partial serrations but but in

this particular case they are not too

deep which is a good thing shallow

serration like these are actually much

more effective for pulling through

material that is fibrous in nature and

not getting hung up with it in addition

to that you'll notice that the

transition from this area up into the

serration is not so steep that it itself

is going to catch like right there if

I'm pulling through a piece of rope or

something also not bad and for this type

of knife I actually think it makes a ton

of sense to have this

orientation it also has two different

types of

deployment okay we are off to a really

good start and then on top of it there

is absolutely no up and down Play No

detent lash and uh we are definitely

entering a new

generation of available knives at big

box stores

we're not going to compare this knife to

what you can get um online that's just

not a fair comparison right we know we

can get really good stuff we know that

but this is something I can walk

into getting anywhere if I get off a

plane and I'm in another state and I

didn't bring a knife with me guess what

I could walk to a Home Depot or go to a

Home Depot pick up a knife for the

weekend and at

$15 breakfast probably costs more than

that and and at least I have something

with me to use when is necessary as a

user knife having that flat Edge is

really nice for scraping and removing

tape and other types of gunky material

you also have a Leading Edge here for

draw cutting if you need it overall this

is a pretty solid package I have to

say um you might have expected you know

with an unknown mystery steel for me to

talk trash about this knife but let's be

real there's going to be 20 or 30 of

these so

for every knife online this is the knife

that most people are going to become

familiar with and it's already starting

to get people more accustomed to the

better quality if we can just get this

thing I don't know up to an 8cr like

something in the uh honey badger knives

it would be feel Space Age I think to a

lot of people who have never experienced

a knife with decent wear resistance and

it still would hold up very very well I

just want to see

small jump just a small jump 20 $20 give

me $20 on this knife with HCR and you

are going to see a resoundingly positive

review for me I I don't know what else

to say I mean if I could get a $20 knife

in Home Depot or Low's that didn't suck

and that I could actually use dayto day

so I didn't have to worry about checking

bags or anything like that I could just

go pick up this knife anywhere I go I'm

into that I am I think that this is an

important knife to know about is it okay

yeah I would be perfectly fine with

buying this and carrying it for a

weekend or a couple a week of travel or

whatever happens to be and then giving

this to a

friend before I get on the plane I'd

have absolutely no problem doing that

and all I can say is good job DeWalt um

please please tell me what the stainless

steel is if I can find it I will list it

right here but

overall I I can't have many bad things

to say I mean $15 is a very impressive

price point even online there isn't that

much that's going to

be super comparable you might be F able

to find one or two knives at in D2

around that $15 price point but that's

pretty much going to cover it and that

D2 may or may not be heat treated well

so it probably won't be that much better

than this steel

anyway that's all I need to say today I

just think if you're looking for

something to throw around you forgot a

knife you're on you're on vacation or

whatever happens to be and you're in

America this might not be such a bad

call really um do not be ashamed to

carry this in your pocket I would

absolutely do so and I think they've

done a great job all I got to say today
