Transcripts
hello and welcome to a week in the Life
as a uni leader you might be new to
leadership or you might be an only
regardless this video is going to be
your checklist and your Bible for the
rest of the year so hope you
enjoy
awesome so what does a 11 on 10 week at
you and I look like for you this is a
question I want you all to think about
and keep in the the back of your mind
throughout this video right and post
this video you will be debriefing it
with your chapter leader and you will be
giving your giving your answer and
coming up with the 11 on 10 week for you
and your
center now let's dive in this is the
story of Lea a learning circle leader
just like all of you after the story
there's a small quiz so this is your
time to bring out that notepad and pen
that um all of you keep in handy during
training sessions so yeah let's go so
Lea is a learning circle leader who is
volunteering at the offline Center in
un Now Lea the LC lead is in a center
that has one chapter leader three fellow
leaders and she is assigned to six
students and has six volunteers assigned
to her thanks to to her 1 is to one
ratio now let's look into Lea's weekly
Journey at Uni classes you can grab your
pens your second notice for taking
notes right so what does Lea do
pre-class she takes her RSV BS RSVPs
leadership rhythms she schedules her
classes online and does her learning
circle
calls now what what do we mean when we
say RSVPs she first confirms the class
with her LCP like hey is there class
this weekend are the students available
um so and so and so she does that and
then post doing that she drops her RSVP
message on the volunteer groups this
ensures that she is able to find out who
is attending class and who isn't just in
case there's any remapping that's
required and she can also make sure she
follows up on
reasons for their
absence then she moves on to her
leadership rhythms where amongst the fun
and games they also have four very
important agenda points which are
student mapping resource setup
troubleshooting upcoming class plans so
here is where they decide what kind of
class it's going to be how they're going
to go about it depending on the RSVP who
needs to follow up with who all those
important decisions are taken in in this
leadership
call and then after discussing all those
important details she comes to the build
app which you'll be hearing a lot more
about soon and enters those details in
the center class schedule in the center
class schedule there are two very
important parts one is the center and LC
details and the second is the class
details now why am I saying this is so
important we will slowly slowly find out
through through the through the entire
video Lea puts in her start date and end
time meticulously she puts her programs
and she makes sure she adds her class
type and who's submitting the form as
she is in charge of doing that in her
team she will be submitting the forms
and then she'll be dropping in which
LC's are active depending on the RSVP
that she received and then she she
reviews all of it once and hits
submit post this I'm going to just
quickly AP what she did right she called
and checked if there was class she
scheduled it on the form and post
scheduling if there are any updates from
the LCP saying oh there might not be
class today or the kids are busy today
any of those things you can always come
back and change the status of the class
on the software app to cancel yeah so we
got you there we
understand why does Lea exactly have to
do this right it's so that she can keep
track of conducted and cancelled classes
along with giving us insight into how
many how much time have we spent in
different interventions this year be it
a teaching class a workshop a
celebration
anything then she moves on to her
learning circle calls that she takes
about 1 to two days before class starts
so she ensures her volunteers are
prepped and ready for class here she
like her leadership Rhythm she gets
ideas from her CH chapter leader and
then implements them with her learning
circle which makes it fun they do
problem solving they go in depth about
how to help the students and they they
are fully prepared and then gives them
space to be creative and share
ideas now once all the pre-class is done
and all the volunteers are ready for
class what does Lea do during
class during class she has a few best
practices that she does one is arriving
early to class about 10 minutes early so
she can greet and do good things with
her volunteers as they walk into the
door she and her fellow leaders prepare
everything from putting setting out
notebooks setting out their workbooks
making sure all their pouches are ready
everything set up for the students and
the volunteers to have a good smooth
class her friend ashoke from an online
Center tells her that he prepares his
online class by check calling the LCP
and checking for the Wi-Fi he makes sure
everything is going smoothly as much as
possible then she proceed uh her LC
knows their class structure from A to Z
because they are prepared right so they
start their class with good things they
do an Energizer they do a revision of
what was learned from the previous class
and then they dive into the objectives
of the current class Le Lea and sh both
have discussed this multiple times on
the importance of brain breaks so their
volunteers take bra Brain Breaks
whenever necessary for the students and
a brain break doesn't just have to be an
activity but can it can also be using
library books or life skill um tools to
engage the student apart from the
objectives of the class and they end
their classes on a high note of a launch
why because the last thing you say to a
person is the first thing they remember
when they see you next so leaving your
student inspired is going to make them
lifelong
Learners then she throughout the class
she keeps an eye out for any violations
of CPP she makes sure all her volunteers
are following dress code she makes sure
that everyone's sitting at approximate
distances from each other she does her
um you know scan around the room no
phones in sight all of that and this is
just a reminder in case you haven't
taken your CPP test yet please go ahead
and find it in the kit from your manager
or your chapter leader because your
classes are starting soon and you might
need it
ASAP awesome so Lea sits in class and
takes notes and what's happening around
her you know she makes mental notes she
puts a few things down because sometimes
we have very long thoughts and we can't
remember all of them and she checks for
four main things in her class how
prepared are her volunteers how engaged
is the student are culture uh tools
being followed and the overall class
quality in the center these are some
really important observations and I'll
let you know why but other than that why
you can use these observations for your
learning circle calls you can use these
observations for your post class debrief
and your one-on ones with
people then in your post class now you
have your post class debrief LC
walkthroughs and student log follow-ups
is what Lea
does so Lea in her post-class debrief
after 1 hour and 55 minutes this is
really specific because Lea is a very
blue color leader you'll find out what
that means if you don't already know she
loves making sure that everything is
following the plan and every detail is
touched Lea makes sure she gives
everyone a five minute heads up up to
join her for her 30 minute post class
debrief in this debrief she starts off
with good things just in case a few
people have missed it and have come late
to class and had to start right off uh
with sitting with the student as soon as
they entered the room then she keeps 10
minutes aside for all the data work that
both the volunteers and the leaders need
to be
doing and then she keeps five minutes to
highlight the best most creative ative
ideas that that she witnessed or that
she saw during class she does her
affirmations and she makes sure that the
right people are validated for their
efforts then they break into LC's so
that they can go deep into the grows and
glows of class and the students reaction
or engagement during the class and then
at the end the assigned leader or the
assigned member of the team um takes
five minutes to give an a inspiring BL
now you must be like okay Priya that
sounds like a very um standard debrief
but Lea puts a spin to her debriefs
every now and then so that she can keep
people looking forward to it and
engaged Lea tries something called tree
of knowledge and affes basically she
cuts out a tree BR uh branches with a
trunk and brings it to class with a
bunch of hits and everybody depending on
the session suppose she's taking a
training training session or she's um
doing affirmations in the class they can
use the post poits as leaves and it
becomes a visual representation of how
much we all either validate or
appreciate each other's presence or how
much we have taken away from the session
another thing that she does is think
pair square and share think pair square
and share is a mouthful to say but it's
a very fun activity that gets your LC
and your um Center teams mingling with
each other a whole lot more it's your
topnotch community building idea so you
give them a prompt or an idea or a
problem okay and um to solve that
problem or to ideate a bit more on what
to do for a plan you make them first
write down their points individually
then pair them up with someone and
they'll write their points down together
and then they make a combined list of
two then you take two pairs and put them
together to make a square if you can
tell to make a square and then all of
them will make one master list together
and then each Square will share their
Square share you get it Square will
share their ideas in front of everyone
and then we'll all come up with the best
ideas that we can Implement so this not
only helps mingling but also helps um
each of the volunteers talk to other
LC's and get to know know more people so
the last thing that Lea has tried out in
her uh classes is start stop continue
and change so red is stop doing a few
things for next class Amber is improve
or do more of a certain thing and green
is something you want to start doing and
change about you know the next class and
um this activity itself helps uh prepare
the whole team better for the next class
and the next debrief because you
yourself are saying these are things you
don't want to do these are things you
want to do and these are things you will
start doing from next week so it holds
you accountable and you're able to you
know do a fun activity out of it now
you're like great Priya now what was the
data you mentioned Lea was doing during
the debrief so Lea takes 10 minutes to
parallell sit with the leader to fill
out the LC walkthroughs the learning
circle walkthroughs and the volunteers
will be filling their student log now in
this walkth through um you will notice
that it's your one place where you can
see that you can successfully say that
class has taken place and what kind of
standard has the class been taken place
at on the right you see the screenshot
and you can see the LC and class details
you choose your Center your Center class
schedule you choose the LC you're
filling for in case your fellow leader
is absent you can fill it for them you
put in who you are class start date and
time and class time so post all of this
you will go to the second part of the LC
walkth through which is the class
attendance log so you might want to keep
in mind that the class length that you
add here accounts for the attendance so
make sure you're putting in exact ly who
was present who was late and who was
absent anyone who is late will also be
tagged to present just letting you know
PS you make sure you add all the
students that were present you make sure
that you add all the students that were
absent from your LC as well and since
Lea has six students there should be six
names here or three names three names
and six volunteers whoever was present
and late whoever was late and whoever
was
absent lovely and you define absent by
the way as if they were expected to show
up and did not show up and those who
weren't expected to show up are not
considered
absent yeah okay awesome and the last
part of the walkthr remember all those
observations that Lea put down Lea puts
down all those observations in this part
portion of the walk through she rates
the level of Engagement in class she
checks culture practice practices she uh
wants to know the preparedness of the
volunteer through the overall
effectiveness of teaching whatever her
key observations were and what were her
areas of improvement and then she
reviews The LC walkth through and hit
submit now the LC walkth through is
verified by her chapter leader or her
manager um just to know and make sure
that all the information dropped in is
updated and
true awesome now you have your student
logs now what exactly is a student log I
think we all know what a class book was
a class book is uh what we used to call
it last year for all the older uh
leaders in the room um the student log
is what we have renamed it to with a few
more details and some very important
scheduling points so these um student
logs need to be filled one to two days
with like of class happening so if your
class happened on Sunday by Tuesday
maximum your volunteers need to have
filled the student log Lea keeps 10
minutes in her debrief to make sure this
takes place they fill in the center
which which exact center schedule like
class schedule you're uh adding here
which is why your Center class schedule
is really important which LC did you
teach today which what was the start and
date time who are you what did you teach
the student student program Class Type
and while you're adding start date and
end uh start date and time and end date
and time you need to remember that the
class length will will um account for
the students attendance ours okay
awesome so don't miss out anything out
of memory
just like Lea observed her class for the
day she makes sure she reminds her Elsie
to observe all these things during class
and it's all General observations that
you would end up making in a class or or
that you are teaching your student right
so Lea's LC puts down what lessons and
con Concepts they taught what exactly
you know how well did the class go what
was the students mood how was experience
they review all of these things and they
hit
submit Lea then um takes the next two
days to sit and verify these student
logs she goes to the software app and
she clicks on um each of her LC members
uh records and she goes down and hits
verify that's how she verifies her
student logs and then she uses this
details to go ahead and bring it up in
the next LC call that she has what are
some things that they can do better what
are some things they want to do better
or that they need support from her and
she also checks those comments and
everything left for the
leaders awesome so that's how Lea's
journey of class in a week ends now
let's have a tiny little quiz to see
what worked for Lea and what
did awesome so what makes Lea confident
in her meetings she was lazy with her
prep she knew what time class was and
she was well
prepared I think we all know the answer
she was well prepared also this is going
to be a little Dora like where I kind of
like what's the answer and I blink at
you for two seconds so yeah okay awesome
so what did Lea do to make sure her
Elsie was well
prepared the the answer
is both why is it both because she drops
them a reminder through her RSVP and she
gets on an LC call with them these two
things are enough to make sure your
volunteers are well prepared for class
she also goes through their uh content
before class to make sure all CPP checks
are done let's go to the next question
how did Lea's fun debriefs help
this is a trick question you are
right everything's the
answer they were engaged they looked
forward to more they bonded and share
over shared Solutions and the volunteers
felt the effort of preparation from her
lead from the leaders and for that
matter they started putting in more
effort so your one debrief can be
stacked with multiple intentions
then the next question is what are two
things Lea does post class on the
app she goes through you're right it's B
she goes through the LC work through she
gets that verified from her chaps and
she does follow-ups on her student log
so that she can verify them awesome now
last we have how does having this weekly
checklist help Lea and the others at
un yes it is to have 11 on 10 classes
debriefs data and a 11 on 10 Community
but this is again up to you what kind of
leader do you want to be for your
students your volunteers and your
Center would love for you to answer
these this question in your for yourself
so that you you and your Center can be
the best at everything they
do but yes thank you so much for
listening and um hope you loved Lea's
story because Lea is meticulous planned
creative about all the tasks she does
because she knows that everything she
does makes a huge difference to the
little un Andi world at her Center so
thank you and all the best to every one
of you watching this video and going to
classes every day all the
best I mean every week
