hey teachers welcome to my very first
reading activity video i should have
done this sooner but i honestly feel
some of us dear teachers don't like
teaching reading but for that exact
reason and to break this reading
stereotype i decided it's time let's go
i have two simple reading activities
that would work with most reading
passages my first activity is the
classic warm up it's very common to
start your reading comprehension lesson
with a warm-up question related to the
passage but let's not let's begin our
lesson with a warm-up video instead i
found that when i play a video related
to what the students are going to read
about they get a little bit more
interested for instance we had this
reading about master building and i
found this amazing time lapse video and
the students got hooked right away and
they were happy to learn more about it
with another regroup i had a reading
passage about unicycle basketball and
played a video of these guys rocking
their unicycles i know you wouldn't
exactly find a video with everything in
your lesson but i'm sure you will find
something very relevant my second
activity is for the new terms and vocabs
in the reading passage i write the new
vocabulary words on the word and i
divide the class into groups i ask the
students to find these words in the
passage and try to guess what they
probably mean here they have to work
together think together and exchange
thoughts together which is amazing and
at the same time they're actually
reading and paying attention to the
words and to the context and eventually
the main idea and after some time we go
over the words together and discuss
their meanings that's pretty it thank
you teachers for being here
