Transcripts
Well, I think it's time to not have to sell a kidney to be able to buy an iPad
because there are already arriving portable tablets that are for drawing.
Hello everyone, beautiful and lovely people who have come to see this video in which we are going to be seeing the new tablet of XP-Pen,
which is the Magic Drawing Pad.
I hope you are ready to see this.
So go for a few popcorns, sit comfortable, because this is quite interesting.
Since we opened the package, we can find with its holster,
which has a transparency effect and also has a hole and a support for the pencil.
Then we have the tablet, but we are going to see that a little later.
In this first box we first find the pin to insert the microSD card.
I know this is not something that we usually see, but wait a minute,
we are barely seeing what the package has.
Then we have the glove in its regular measure,
that suits me even with these tremendous nails that I carry,
and we continue with its thin pencil that has a button, it is free of batteries and it has 16,384 levels of pressure.
This thanks to the fact that it has the chip X3 Pro,
a chip that we have already seen in development by XP-Pen.
In its next box we find a USB-C to USB-C connection cable,
and therefore also the charging connector, which is also USB-C input.
And finally we have its pin to remove the tips and 8 points of rest,
4 normal and 4 textured.
And now we go with the tablet itself, w hich is beautiful.
It has a size of 28 x 19.4 cm with a work area of 26 x 17.2 cm.
It is a 12.2 inch screen and the tablet itself is of a gray black color.
It also has a rear camera, which in my opinion is very nice about design,
of 13 MP and we also have an 8 MP front camera.
On the upper side we find the volume buttons and two holes that correspond to the microphone.
On the left we have two speakers and the power button.
And on the right we have the slot for the microSD card and the USB-C port,
in addition to the speakers as well.
And this is how turns on the tablet.
From here we only have to configure it,
the block, the language, associate emails, and the length, etc.,
which leads each time we turn on a new device with an operating system,
which in this case we have the Android 12.
It is the screen once
and that's how the screen is, once we have it- NAWEBONÁ stop
And that's how the tablet received us once we have configured it.
We have a light screen capable of emitting the 360 NIT.
For some reason I get excited about the fact that it has a holster, so I want to place it.
That, oh, how cute, I love it.
That's how it looks with the holster.
And here, next to the camera, we can place the pencil.
There it would be.
So this is quite comfortable.
Let's see how the drawing experience is going to be.
The tablet itself comes with some drawing programs,
they are ArtRage Oleo, MediBanb Paint,
IbisPaint X, and Concepts.
Although I also want to see if I can try other drawing applications,
because I really don't know much about drawing applications for tablets,
so I want to see what it is.
Now we also have Infinite Painter among our options.
I organized myself to be able to easily have them here in the applications
and be able to try them, but basically this is a tablet like any other.
We can use it to install any type of applications.
Let's see if I can download the Fortnite.
Brother, it can't be, I think it's going to be able to...
Don't suck-
No, it's not compatible, it can't be.
How sad, brother.
I was also downloading more drawing applications to see the issue of compatibility.
We can easily find this in the Play Store starting with Clip Studio,
which is my main drawing program on the computer.
Since I don't work with tablets, I didn't know this topic,
but it was quite nice to see that Clip Studio also has a much more friendly interface
for this type of devices,
which allows us to have everything small on the sides,
besides that you can do everything you can do in Clip Studio,
like download brushes, obviously I downloaded my own brush,
so it was quite intuitive and complete.
And because I don't lose anything trying, I also downloaded the Photoshop version
that is in the Play Store, which is sadly only for photo editing.
I wanted to review it more than anything because I know that many also draw with Photoshop,
but well. And one that surprised me was Krita,
that I didn't know was also available for tablets.
So for the fans of Krita who for some reason always think that I draw in Krita,
yes, you are finally seeing me for the first time doing something minimally in Krita,
which is only a few scratches.
And well, another application also known that was available and compatible is Sketchbook.
Basically, here any application that we can find in the Play Store
or that is compatible with Android works.
Something quite important is that you will already know that the tablets are also tactile for the finger,
that is, we can touch and do things with our fingers, with gestures and all that,
on the contrary, with the tablets with the screen.
So something quite important is that here we can keep a sensitivity primarily
by the pencil that of the hand.
At this moment I am pressing my hand against the screen, okay?
Without having the glove or anything like that, nothing that protects me from the touch against the screen directly
and equally I will be able to draw.
So we have a very good distinction between what is the touch of what is the skin with respect to the pencil.
And from here it was simply me getting used to the tablet,
which was not very difficult, it was only the subject of configuring the drawing programs,
the touch keys, which in itself is the touch button of the pencil,
the gestures I could do with my hands, seeing how I felt with the stroke,
something quite nice for this was that I could do it directly from my bed, more relaxed
First time I was able to review a tablet in this way because it is always on the computer,
so how nice to have something portable to be a little more relaxed.
I wanted to draw mainly with Infinite Painter, which is a program that Sahlarei recommended
and that I ended up liking it a lot because I feel that it can be taken advantage of a lot
and I would like it to be able to continue developing more,
so there I was making my main settings, my practices,
I was also sketching a little to warm up my hand
and from there I went with a more complete drawing to be able to see all this experience
from beginning to end in order to draw, render in this tablet.
Now continuing with the specifications of the tablet,
there are some more things that are necessary to know,
starting with the fact that the resolution of its screen is 2160 x 1440
and it has a color range of 109 sRGB, its processor is 64 bits,
we have an 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB storage,
which can be added to a maximum memory extension of 512 GB.
As for the battery capacity, we have 8,000 mAh.
With this and everything I was mentioning earlier,
it would be all the important specifications on the tablet.
So now we are going to proceed with the review,
we are going to talk about its efficiency,
how it was the whole issue of drawing, how it felt
and with this tablet there is something very important that I must highlight, that I must mention
that it is inevitable to compare with another type of tablets
and it is all about the screen and pencil.
Something that many tablets fail when it comes to drawing
is that they have these glass screens.
Logically, they can be good quality screens for what is a tablet
and the regular use that these have, but they are not the ideal to draw,
they are tablets that are NOT made to draw,
even though half the world of art uses them or recommends them,
only because they do not have another portable option,
It does not mean that they are made to draw.
Yes, iPads, I'm looking at you
and any other tablet from another brand that has this type of screens or pencils.
And it is that there is a reality that you do not realize
if you only started drawing on iPad or tablet,
but that if you started drawing on graphics tablet
and then you went to one of these iPads or tablets,
you will surely have noticed.
And it is that drawing on the iPad or tablet is very different
to drawing on a graphic tablet,
not only on the screen, in the same way with the pencil, which is plastic,
and added to the touch with the screen,
it is an artificial sensation that is not very pleasant at the time of drawing,
in addition to its little sensitivity,
it is generated that it is more dependent on stabilizers
with more power than possibly necessary to achieve softer finishes.
And obviously, let's be honest,
generating a similar touch to paper in digital materials is complicated,
but it is what is sought in graphics tablets,
soft sensations and, to say it in some way,
because I can't find another word,
rough for us to have a greater naturality when drawing.
That is what we find in this tablet.
This tablet IS a graphic tablet.
The texture of the screen is as typical of a drawing tablet.
On the contrary of the tablets that are not designed to draw,
this has a screen with a soft and matte texture.
And next to that is the touch sensation with the pencil,
where we do not find a plastic and hard touch,
but we have a soft sensation,
which improves with the white textured tips that I showed you,
since it looks more like the texture of the graphite
and is a perceptible sensation when drawing.
A detail like this I feel extremely important for comfort,
since drawing on a surface that generates an unconsciously plastic sensation
can affect us in the drawing and the way we exercise pressure.
And, incidentally, the issue of pressure
I mean, I remind you that this pencil has 16,384 levels of pressure.
It is the pencil with greater sensitivity than I have tried so far.
And it is a level of sensitivity to pressure that does not have the tablets
that are not made to draw.
And I don't even say that those have to have these 16,000.
Let's remember that the standards are 8,192 levels of pressure.
But here we find a sensitivity that is simply precious.
With the default configuration of the pencils,
I have been able to make extremely light strokes without making pressure,
and with the minimum of the minimum,
I have been able to apply a greater depth to my strokes.
What made the process of drawing quite relaxed for my hand from the beginning.
Considering that I was working with this tablet for several days
and I had to be drawing right away to be able to try it,
it was already minutes or hours and that in these periods of time
my hand does not get tired of it, it is excellent.
Honestly, I feel that this has a lot of potential
that has not yet been exploited at all in this generation of tablets,
because we are talking about XP-Pen.
We already know that within a long time
they will be able to get these types of tablets in another generation
with improvements and all that.
Well, I feel that sometimes the touch of the tablet with respect to the skin
becomes a vague touch, at least that was my experience,
in the whay that from time to time with the hand I had to touch something more than once,
so I feel that it is something that can be improved more.
Even the levels of the sensitivity of the pencil
that can be a bit unnoticed,
which I do not know if it is by the tablet itself or by the drawing programs,
or even by myself, since what happened was that from time to time
I felt that I was exercising at the same level of pressure,
but I had a line or perhaps a little thinner
or perhaps a little thicker or darker.
And now, saying it in a loud voice, I feel that it can go a little over there.
Since having so many levels of pressure
can be difficult to get used to the different capacities of pressure that we have now in digital.
The efficiency for me was excellent.
As you already know, I usually work canvases from 3,000 x 3,000 pixels,
I don't usually work on small canvases, unless it is pixel art,
and if I need to modify the width or height of the canvas,
I simply enlarge it.
And I can work perfectly on canvases of more than 3,000 pixels,
in which, in addition, the program itself was recording time-lapse of the process of drawing,
without the program stopping, slowing down
my strokes were made instantly in the moment when the pencil touched the screen.
In fact, that's why I've also been leaving some scenes
in which you can see how I'm drawing in real time,
since all its use turned out to be quite light.
Latency is also something that can be improved a lot,
since, despite my own perception, there are certainly at least 10 milliseconds in response time.
Which, for nothing, are disturbing because, for some reason, I felt it so fluid,
but that without a doubt we could see much better in a new generation.
Regarding other things, I can also touch on the subject of the sheath,
which is quite good,
but it turns out a bit uncomfortable if we want to draw on a straight surface,
having it vertically, since the pencil support has relief.
In addition to the edges being rounded like the tablet itself,
it has, instead of that, fine edges,
which can contribute to certain inconvenience, according to the way in which it is held.
On the other hand, the material is quite good and it covers firmly the tablet.
Something that we would need with respect to the sheath is a support,
so that we can have the tablet raised if we have it on a table,
and not completely fallen on the table, since this can contribute to a bad position on the back.
But this is in case that, of course, we are working on a table,
or on any surface in which we require something extra to be able to have it raised
and be able to see what we are drawing.
And now, the subject of the battery.
Very important, dealing with a portable device.
Starting with the fact that its pencil does not require a charger because it is free of batteries,
so we can use it at any time we want,
which is a great comfort and something less than worrying about charging to be able to draw.
I will tell you specifically how it was this week for me having it and using it.
And it is that having the tablet in 100% charge, as a casual use,
the battery lasted me 4 days without charging again.
Obviously I will specify what I mean by casual use,
and it is to be using it from time to time, for nothing an intense day of drawing.
At some moments I was drawing for a long time, like 1 or 2 hours,
but also, for example, I was not using the 100% of the brightness of the screen,
which is something that consumes a lot of battery.
I used to have a little like 50-60% there,
and I kept the brightness issue on automatic, so at night I used 30-20% of the brightness.
And again, I repeat, a casual use for a while,
for nothing I was looking for the battery to last so long,
it was just what I could do at that moment.
And obviously it was quite nice to wake up, unlock the tablet
and see that I could continue doing things quietly without worrying about the battery.
Now, going on an intense day of drawing,
in which I again had the battery charged to 100% to test exactly how long it would last,
I was drawing almost without stopping and using the tablet for at least 7 hours,
with the brightness of the tablet to the maximum.
This day I took out the automatic, so it always remained at 100%,
and at the end of the day the tablet ended up with a 10% battery.
Something that honestly seems excellent to me, having been using it in such an intense way.
And something extra that is very good during the use of these intense hours
drawing, is that I did not feel any warm-up at any time by the tablet,
considering, in addition to being in this side of the world, I am in the middle of summer.
With all this in mind, you will be wondering what the price of this tablet is.
Well, at the moment I am recording this, the official price is still not out in dollars,
but in Mexican pesos it will be 9.999, which would be $499.99 Dollars.
It has 12 months of warranty as a base,
and obviously here I leave you a code so that you can have 15% discount.
So I hope you can take advantage, the people who were looking forward to this type of tablet
and that were saving for one.
I thank you very much XP-Pen for being able to give me a discount for you.
Well, once this drawing is finished, I passed it to the computer to see how the colors look.
And in the computer, they are a little more polished, desaturated,
like, there is not much of my wave, basically, it is not like I had colored it here.
I quite trust the configuration of my computer, since I have it as best calibrated as possible,
so this is my point of reference.
Here then, by default, the colors are quite more saturated,
which does not allow me to see if I am using saturated colors like I wanted or desaturated.
And really, well, we can see that the drawing in reality is a little more desaturated than what I wanted.
From what I realized, I had activated this option called NXTVision,
which is basically an option that in its configurations shows us that it is to improve the image,
it is to optimize the quality of the image and that it has more contrast,
sharpness and details and the shadows of the image.
Basically this happens, so the ideal would be that we have this option deactivated
to see the image as we are creating it with the colors a little more natural,
I deactivate the option and the colors effectively look much more polished,
as in the image I have on the computer, it looks much more similar.
In fact, I do not know if it is something that you can notice, but it looks as the colors,
so it is quite well configured, which is the issue of the colors on this screen,
what is true is that we just have to deactivate that option so that we can see them
as realistic as possible in terms of digital colors.
Fortunately, it is nothing that a quick color configuration can not solve,
I am simply going to edit the saturation, the contrast a little so that it can be seen
as I really wanted it to be seen and ready.
Also some small adjustments in some areas where I do not like how the colors have been combined
and basically with that I have fixed the drawing and adjusted to the colors I want.
This option came to me activated by default at the time of setting the table and I
left it activated thinking that well maybe that is precisely the calibration of the necessary color,
but no, there was a mistake that, well, I will tell you so that you can not
do the same.
I passed it to the computer and now it looks much better, even in the same tablet you can see the
difference between both images.
Now, among some little things to complement the information on the tablet that can clear
certain doubts that you may have, I am going to tell you some little things in the air.
This tablet can indeed be connected to the computer, so we can pass files without
any problem, this obviously if our computer has a USB-C input or if we have a
cable that is from USB-C to USB
Another thing is also with respect to the headphones, and it is that we do not have a Jack input
for the headphones, but that we only have the USB-C input, so if we have headphones
with this type of input we can use them without problem.
On the other hand, if we have headphones that need a Jack input, it can be used by
a Jack adapter to USB-C.
It can also be used while charging, this obviously is not recommended for any
mobile device, since the batteries can get damaged, overheat, they are not made
for that, but given the case of some emergency, some trouble in which you need to do
something and the battery just died them, yes, it can be used without problem while charging, including
obviously drawing.
And by the way, it really does not have much to do with the tablet itself, and in general
it usually happens to me when I draw like this on the screen, only that with this
I feel it in a divine way, but I really like the way in which I feel that my
strokes are much more released when I'm drawing.
And if you have already seen me drawing before, you know that I have a lot of problems with
perfectionism and all that stuff, but for some reason I kind of leave it a little
more to carry when I draw in this way, so personally I'm very anxious to continue
using this tablet, I'm not going to return it as my main tablet, because I work
mainly on the computer and for me it is essential to work in this space that I have with
my big monitors, but without a doubt I want to be sketching more often in this, going to
the bed and putting myself there to draw something chill, or even being able to make short videos
or be on stream and draw with this tablet and that you can see it live in that way, because
I really liked it, I really liked it a lot, and I need you to understand that I don't
stay with the tablets I receive, they are only to do the review and/or the advertising
for the brand and that's it.
For example, the Xencelabs of which I did a review few years ago, I loved it so much that I have continued
using it and it has been my main tablet since then, and I doubt that I stop doing it for a
good time at least until I get hurt, or that I get a better one for the computer, but
this being one that doesn't have to be used on the computer, it comes to me perfect, because
then I can use both, so it won't be the last time you see me drawing on this
tablet.
And well, to celebrate all this issue of the launch of this new tablet, XP-Pen is
making an international contest, in which you will have the opportunity to win one of these tablets
There will be three winners, so I encourage you to participate, below I will obviously be
leaving the link of the information, as well as the links where you can find
available this tablet.
And well, that is already everything I had to tell you about this beauty, I think I can
take a little bit of time to talk about the drawings I was doing, and it is that I did not
only one, I did two drawings of this little couple that I think some of you will remember with love
'Cause they are the humanizations that I did a long time ago, of Chloe and Delgado, from
the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua, which I encouraged myself a lot to do them for
this occasion, since it was very little time that you came to me remembering these
characters and these designs that I did, and I also missed a lot of being able to draw them.
I felt that I already needed to make new content of this little couple, so here you have it
feed yourselves, and I would love you to leave in the comments if you recognized the characters
before reaching this point in which I am literally telling you who they are.
It is not for nothing, but praise be to the couples with a size difference.
Serve me a lot of them, that I eat them all.
It was going to be initially just a drawing that was the first you saw, but honestly
I was wanting more and I needed to do them like that in full body, you understand
that you see that difference in height, so that's why I drew the second one.
And I hope you liked both.
Thank you very much to XP-Pen for allowing me to review their new tablet for their launch.
It was a pretty great experience and I hope you can also tell me in the comments if you would like
to have this type of tablet?
And apart from the XP-Pen links that I have left in the description, I remind you that you also
have the links to my social networks and also to the pages such as Ko-fi, Cafecito or Twitch where you can support me.
I send you a greeting and a great thank you to my Ko-fi members
and also to my Twitch subscribers with special mentions for
Thanks to everyone who gives me their support either economically or also watching my videos, commenting,
