Outlines
🏐 Volleyball Spike Tutorial Introduction
The video starts with a welcoming introduction by the host, Poppy, who promises to teach viewers how to spike a volleyball. She encourages viewers to subscribe and leave comments about what videos they would like to see next. The tutorial is focused on the outside hitter position and begins with a demonstration of the correct starting position near the net, facing the court's left side. Poppy emphasizes the importance of transitioning from the net to the 10-foot line, which is the boundary between the front and back rows in volleyball.
🚀 Transitioning and Blocking Techniques
Poppy explains the process of transitioning from the net to the 10-foot line, which involves blocking and moving behind the line. She demonstrates the movement, showing how to block straight up and down and then transition off the net. The tutorial continues with the addition of arm momentum movements, which are essential for generating power during the hitting approach. Poppy illustrates this by swinging her arms left and right, simulating the left-right-left swing motion that is typical for right-handed players, with the opposite for left-handed players.
🔄 Incorporating Movements and Squats for Momentum
The next step in the tutorial involves adding a deeper squat to the approach, which helps to build momentum for both the jump and the swing. Poppy shows how to integrate this squat into the left-right-left swing motion, emphasizing the importance of speed and momentum in executing a successful spike. She also mentions the role of movies in volleyball, likely referring to the importance of visual cues or perhaps a misstatement, as the context does not clearly define 'movies'.
🤾♀️ Practicing the Spike with a Setter
Poppy proceeds to demonstrate the complete spike motion with the help of a setter. She performs the left-right-left swing and emphasizes the importance of watching the set carefully to avoid touching the net, which she accidentally did in one of the attempts. The video includes a slow-motion replay to highlight the correct technique, and Poppy advises viewers to extend fully to gain maximum momentum. She also stresses the importance of snapping the wrist during the spike to ensure the ball goes downward rather than straight out.
👋 Conclusion and Call to Action
The video concludes with a humorous anecdote where Poppy accidentally hits a girl on the court while practicing the spike. She wraps up the tutorial by reminding viewers to snap their wrists for a successful spike and encourages them to like, comment, and subscribe for more content. The video ends on a light-hearted note with music and applause, signaling the end of the tutorial.

hey guys welcome back to poppy and today
i'm going to show you guys how to spike
a volleyball so we're going to start
first first make sure you subscribe and
leave down below what videos let's get
right into it
yay for voice-overs so today i'm going
to teach you how to spike from the
outside hitter position on the court so
i'm starting on the left facing part of
the court the most left-facing part of
the net as you can see as i pinned the
court so i'm going to start at the net
and then i'm going to transition back to
the 10 foot line the 10 foot line or the
3 meter line is it divides front row
from back row so i'm going to start at
the net and then i'm going to transition
back and transitioning back means i'm
going to block
and come right behind the 10 foot line
now i'm going to start this by blocking
straight up and down
and coming back and transitioning off of
the neck do you see how i did that now
when you're starting your hitting
approach you're going to go left right
left swing
so if you are left-handed it's opposite
right left right swing
so we are starting by simply just doing
the steps left
right left swing
okay now we have to add in the arm
momentum movements and that means
swinging arms left right
left swing
that's part two of learning your
transition
now we're going to add in the deeper
squat so we can get some momentum
left right left swing you see how i got
i went a little bit faster so you're
going to transition faster left right
left swing
make sure there are movies they're very
very important in doing the volleyball
hitting transition they give you
momentum to jump higher and they give
you momentum to swing the ball with the
full potential that you have so i'm
going to find a setter who's going to
set for me and i'm going to do some
example heads okay so she's going to set
for me and i'm going to do left right
left swing so watch very carefully left
right left swing now let's watch the
same clip again slow motion left
right
left
and
swing
now why did my hand touch the net in
that the set was really close
now i want to say avoid touching the net
as much as possible so make sure you
look at the set left right left swing so
she's going to give me a better set this
time and i'm going to make sure i extend
all the way so i get full momentum left
right left and swing all right
and the girl that was passing on the
court i accidentally hit her oops make
sure you snap your wrist because if you
don't snap your wrist you're going to
hit and it's going to go straight out
snap your wrist so that way goes
downward i hope you like this quick
hitting tutorial make sure you like
comment subscribe and i'll see you guys
next time
