Transcripts
hey everyone welcome back to the channel
Dave from Chase the summit here this is
going to be a very different kind of
video where I want to respond to some of
the comments I've been getting in some
of my recent videos so in the past
couple of days if you missed it I posted
the Amaze fit T-Rex 3 in-depth review
and then a follow-up video to that I did
yesterday was the amazfit T-Rex 3 and
how it compares to the Garmin Phoenix 8
side by side and I tell you what I've
been doing this YouTube thing for 3
years now and I've never seen so many
hate and negative comments and
accusations in the comments as these
past two videos and honestly I'm I'm
kind of flabbergasted by so I want to
take a moment here to address your
comments and concerns in this video talk
it through talk about how I plan and
create content here how my in-depth
reviews work just to clear the air of
all the questions I've been seeing
lately because man they've been really
bothering me and listen I've been doing
this for a few years and I've got pretty
thick skin I've seen it all from you
should get your teeth fixed to I hate
your face uh you're bald whatever ever
that stuff doesn't even bother me but
when you start questioning my ethics and
and how I do things and accusing me of
being paid by brands that stuff gets to
me maybe I'm being too vulnerable here
and probably giving those people EXA
exactly what they want and they're
probably going to come back and post
more stuff to get a rise out of me but I
I need to make this video just for my
own sanity before we move any further if
you're here to learn about the amazfit
T-Rex 3 or the Garmin Phoenix 8 here I'm
not even going to be talking about them
in this video if you want to learn all
about them I have have dedicated
in-depth reviews on this channel where
you can learn about them and then I've
got side by-side comparison videos where
you can learn how they compare so go
watch those if you want to learn about
them here are for all the people out
there that were leaving those comments
okay so first up let's talk ethics and
how it works here on YouTube for re
reviewers like me and just about every
reviewer you watch out there whether
that be a cell phone a camera a laptop
whatever it's all kind of the same deal
the way it works when you're a reviewer
here on YouTube and you have some sort
of audience typically a brand is going
to reach out to you to offer their
product ahead of release so you can use
it ahead of time formulate your opinion
write a review and then publish it on
launch day that's no different for me if
you watch my videos you know typically
my videos go live on launch day that
could be a brand like Garmin Apple
choros Google whatever and all these
brands have something they call embargos
embargo means that you're keeping a
promise that you're not going to share
content about their product until the
brand says you can and typically they're
going to give you a time and date and
that's why on launch day you'll notice
that every reviewer on the planet posts
their reviews at the same time and this
process has been around for a long time
with embargos even before YouTube it was
magazines or newspapers and even those
people had the same set of rules even
though I'm getting products early to
test before they're launched and even
though I'm in contact with the brands
does not guarantee I'm going to give
them an overly positive review in fact I
try to be as unbiased and critical as
possible in my in-depth reviews because
I want to keep my credibility I want you
to believe what I'm saying and I
wouldn't be able to sleep at night I
have four kids I want them to be proud
of me I want to be proud of myself so
the content I put out there is stuff I
genuinely believe but of course I'm a
human being and I like to inject some of
my opinions as well because I feel like
that's also valuable in these videos too
are you still with me or is this just
getting too bored should I just delete
this video now let's talk about how I
come up with content ideas in my
ideation process so I keep a rolling
list of notes in Google Keep and Apple
notes where I write down good ideas that
might be make good content for this
YouTube channel and a lot of those ideas
are derived from you the viewer I read a
lot of comments I read almost all of
your comments so if I see a 100 comments
that say Hey can you compare the coros
pace 3 against the Garmin forigner 165 I
know that's probably a good video idea
and that's something I'll take seriously
and probably try to make and that brings
us back to the Garmin Phoenix 8 and the
T-Rex 3 content because that's exactly
what happened here I posted my in-depth
review of the amazfit T-Rex 3 and I gave
it a pretty positive review so when I
read through the comments of that T-Rex
3 video I saw over a 100 comments asking
me to dive further and do an in-depth
comparison between the Phoenix 8 and the
amazfit T-Rex 3 to try to help you the
viewer understand all the differences
between these two watches because one is
280 bucks and the other one is well over
$11,000 so I took that feedback from you
the viewer and then I went ahead and I
created a side-by-side comparison video
that I posted yesterday and the funny
thing about that in-depth comparison
between the Phoenix 88 and the TX 3 is
that I kept it pretty objective like I
literally just went through the spec
sheet basically on both watches and then
showed you examples of how they're
different however the worst part is
still to come because after I posted
that comparison video that's when I
started seeing these comments let me
read a couple for you someone got a call
from Garmin LOL what a sus follow-up
video it is a replacement for the
Phoenix at one qu of the price you're
losing all your credibility this is a
super odd video from you Dave come on
you can do better than this this re so
much of being got at by Garmin
credibility just went out the window and
this list goes on and on first of all
let me back up are you comments even
real or am I living in a Bizarro world
and these are all just Bots from other
companies trying to slander me and if
you are real are you wearing a tinf foil
hat we're talking about watches here
we're talking about sport watches and my
job here on YouTube is to try to give
you the information you need to make a
purchasing decision I'm not trying to
tell you how to spend your money I'm
trying to give you facts so let me just
clear the air here first of all I have
no affiliation with the mafit or Garmin
I am in contact with their PR people
just like everybody else out there doing
reviews but they don't pay me they never
have pay me and I don't intend to take
money from them ever they do provide me
with early devices for review which is
great but that relationship ends there
and after I get a device in for testing
it's all up to me to decide what I'm
going to say in my final in-depth review
and that brand is not going to see the
video before you see it I don't give
them a draft early they don't have to
approve anything I get to say what I
want to say in in my videos that's the
way it works another thing I saw in the
comments quite a bit is that I was
changing my mind in the amazfit T-Rex 3
I was doing a 180 and that's not the
case at all in fact I stand by
everything I said in the amazfit T-Rex 3
video where I gave it a glowing review
it is a great watch for under $279 it is
not a $1,000 plus watch so at that price
point it's a great device with good
accuracy a lot of features and I think
most of you would be happy with it
however that doesn't change the fact
that objectively on their spec sheets
you can read them for myself I'm not
making this stuff up or skewing any
information the Garmin Phoenix 8 does
have a lot of advantages and that's why
it's a more expensive watch now does
that validate the price point it's at at
$1,000 to $1,200 no but also if you
don't like that price point don't buy it
this is your money we're talking about
here if you don't have that kind of
money and you only have 280 bucks to
spend here in the USA the amazfit tx3 is
also a great option the coros pastry is
also a great option the fact is there's
a lot of great options out there so
hopefully this video helped you
understand how I work how chase the
summit works because this is a oneman
shop and I'm kind of in my own bubble
here and reading your comments alone in
a room by myself so they do get to me
okay this video is getting too
long-winded and I'm just going to wrap
it up and give you a couple of things to
think about first of all if you don't
enjoy my videos and you question my
credibility which it seems like there's
a few of you please drop down below and
hit the unsubscribe button and just hide
my channel from your YouTube account you
don't need to watch my stuff and I think
we'd both be happier and following up to
that I want to thank all the other
viewers out there who have been enjoying
the content and saying thank you in the
comments for the in-depth reviews and
the comparisons I'm glad you enjoyed
them I hope you got some value from them
and I'm glad they're useful that's why
I'm here that's why I'm doing this and
the final thing I want to mention is
that when you watch people on YouTube we
are human beings and a lot of people
don't show this side their vulnerability
to this kind of feedback but I think
it's important to remember that the
people that are doing this for a living
like myself and a lot of my peers
they're human beings and their feelings
can be hurt as well so if you enjoy the
content that your favorite Creator is
making make sure to tell them make sure
to hit the Thumbs Up Button And
subscribe and do all the things down
there because that's really the feedback
mechanism that gives them a reward for
what they're doing in either case that's
it for this video sorry for the weird
one I just felt compelled to make this
to hopefully clear the air and and hope
you understand where I'm coming from
here and uh yeah I hope it did just that
I might delete this later but for now
we're going to keep this up and
hopefully it answers some of your
questions and uh I'll see you next time
time okay bye
