Outlines
😀 Schwedische Sprache leicht gemacht
🌍 Bahasa Indonesia - Einheit in Vielfalt

Transcripts
by the time you were 5 years old you had
spent nearly 20,000 hours learning your
native language and you are only this
good I have a a Col then I could turn it
on I won't be of the so does this mean
that as an adult you're going to need
more than 20,000 hours to learn a
foreign language actually no in fact if
you pick the right language you could
learn it way faster and in this video
I'm going to show you seven languages
that you can learn really really fast
far faster than you might think and
there's even one language here that
breaks all the
rules let's start at the
beginning
[Music]
you're you could almost say this
language is already halfway learned
thanks to those friendly Viking
invasions see more than 30% of Swedish
words have common roots with English and
I don't even have to translate these
just have a look the alphabet is exactly
like ours with three cool extra vowels
and the nine vowels give Swedish a
lovely musical
quality which I find quite motivating
actually or maybe it's just the cinnamon
buns beautiful these pretty sounds are
because Swedish has something called
pitch accent where the tone of the word
can change its meaning but don't freak
out this is nothing like Mandarin tones
one pitch Rises and falls and the other
has a double Bounce has a very different
Cadence in we talk it's very the melody
is very different here's an example of a
Swedish speaker saying the word malard
versus spirit anden anden I mean you're
not used to it so pronunciation may take
a little bit of time to master I get
that but word order is almost exactly
the same as English so you can start
making sentences right away listen
see I don't even speak Swedish yet and I
understood that my name is Ollie Roes by
the way and although I don't speak
Swedish I am an author a linguist I
teach languages to thousands of people
and sometimes they show up with a whole
language wish list so I have to help
them pick one have you heard of the FSI
chart well this ranks languages
according to how easy or tough they are
to learn Swedish is only in category one
now these are languages that will take
you about 24 to 30 weeks if you do a
little bit every day you'll be chatting
in no time hey
as for the grammar well Swedish grammar
is really really simple the main things
are nouns have two genders and to say
The Thing versus a thing you add a
suffix to the noun but if you haven't
heard Swedish is super Progressive you
can actually use one word hen for a
gender neutral pronoun there are no case
endings like in German no complex verb
conjugations actually the verbs are even
easier than English look at
that desun
har did you hear those words I told you
if you speak English you got this best
part is once you have Swedish down you
can also understand Norwegian and danish
too and it isn't even the easiest
language on this list fourth easiest
maybe if you thought there was no such
thing as a low stress Asian language
well think again there's one very
popular language known for its
Simplicity and it's perfect for
Southeast Asian Nomads is that you you
thinking of spending time iny
[Music]
maybe Indonesia is made up of over
17,000 islands and Bahasa Indonesia is
the glue that holds it all together it's
a relatively young language that sprang
up in the 20th century to unite the
country and it borrows words from Dutch
Arabic Portuguese and even English so
you'll recognize more than you
think and it's a breeze for starters
Indonesian is entirely festic what you
see is what you get and unlike other
Asian languages which shall remain
nameless no new script to learn and
you'll have fun too check this out to
make something plural you just double
the word easy breezy
[Music]
wait the word butterfly is already
doubled Koop koopal I wonder what the
plural must be hm let me know in the
comments if you have any idea anyway the
grammar is really simple and consistent
no tenses no tones no articles no gender
just simple sentences that get right to
the point we use the right words to
express those things instead so when you
learn Indonesian rather than focusing
yourself on the grammar
it's important to focus on the
vocabulary to express these things it's
true there aren't even complicated
conjugations Indonesian uses simple
prefixes and suffixes instead and to
handle tense they just use time words
like yesterday or
tomorrow so why does Indonesian land in
Category 2 rather than category 1 well
it's mostly because of a few quirks like
the gender neutral pronouns there is no
he or she just dear it's simple but it
takes a little getting used to and this
in English it's definitely normal to use
active sentences active voice but in
Indonesian we tend to use a lot of
passive
voice okay okay so far which language on
this list do you think you'll probably
find yourself speaking first well all I
can promise you is yeah I I swear on
this pile of books right here that
you're going to change your mind a few
times as we get through the
[Music]
video now what is the one language you
hear the most when you go on Safari or
visit the warm beaches of East Africa I
really need to do that soon well it's a
gorgeous Bantu language packed with
borrowed words from Arabic Portuguese
English and even German and Persian
oh my SW might not be the first language
that comes to mind when you're thinking
of easy ones but if you're eyeing an
African language or trust me this is the
one see Swahili is a beautiful flowing
language that will probably take you
around 900 hours to get the hang off and
it's by far the most practical Choice
it's widely used and Incredibly useful
for travelers and then the fun
begins just do anything
Valentine sing I'm pretty sure she's
saying English words too see Swahili is
full of familiar sounding words and
you'll pick up the simple greetings in a
day or two actually the pronunciation is
a lot like Italian now that I think
about
it so what makes swah easy well first
off the structure is very predictable
swah is known for its logical
inconsistent grammar there's no gender
no tones it's very phonetic which which
is saying a lot for an African language
now are you wondering all when all know
there clicks do you get another
language you'll say Swahili is different
there's no clicks and tricks but to my
ears at least it just has this vibrant
Untamed Rhythm that feels
[Music]
so okay between you and me the trickiest
part of swah is the prefixes prefixes
how do you even pronounce that word I
don't know Swahili loves prefixes and
they are everywhere instead of messing
around with verb endings you add
prefixes for example coola means to eat
and to say I am eating you add a prefix
and get nula but it doesn't stop there
because nouns have their own prefixes
too it can feel a lot at first but
they're actually very intuitive once you
get used to it shocker noun classes in
an easy language what is going on well
with the rest of the language being so
simple it actually kind of balances out
the tricky parts and keeps Swahili in
Category 2 cool right here's some real
life Swahili in
action by the
way as with so many languages this
really is one of those cases where just
hanging out with local people making
friends doing as they do is the best way
to learn by far and while we are
chatting about learning languages fast
did you know that the best best way to
do that is through stories that's right
nothing beats a story because when you
are engrossed in a good story you
remember words and phrases more easily
and the language makes sense to your
brain in a natural way and here at story
learning we are on a mission to help you
learn a new language fast the easy ones
and the impossible ones nothing scares
us here because we found a crazy good
method and if you think this sounds
exciting and you'd like to see what it's
all about scan the QR code on this video
or click the link in the description and
I will give you my free story learning
kit completely free it's got a bunch of
stuff inside from videos to master
classes to worksheets it will show you
how the story learning method works so
when you're done choosing an easy
language to learn go and grab
[Applause]
yours believe it or not this is the
closest language to English like a fun
mix of English and German minus the hard
stuff and you won't just hear it in the
Netherlands Dutch is also spoken in
Belgium and I kid you not some lovely
Caribbean islands too now that's a bit
of a motivator so why is it easy well
for St is there's tons of shared
vocabulary words that are spelled almost
exactly the same as English so when
you're reading Dutch it feels
surprisingly natural Z here Bowman H PL
and H blo and is
mid do all start in BL the biggest
challenge is going to be a few Charming
new sounds to pronounce
so think of ship which should beip or
sheep which should
be did you try it well some of these can
trip you up at the beginning
particularly the G and the r sounds but
you'll get there besides Dutch is kind
to beginners it has the most English
lone words of any European language
which means that you already know a lot
more than you think see how many words
you can catch here thank you that
nice and Dutch has a pretty
straightforward grammar system that's a
lot easier than German not least because
there's no insane case system thank you
very much German there actually used to
be three noun genders for Dutch but now
it mostly uses only two common and
neuter and when you turn these nouns
into plurals the article will always be
the so it's pretty easy to manage really
Dutch also has similar verbs to English
so in the present tense you just tweak
the verb slightly depending on the
subject see that letter T at the end the
only curveball is that well sometimes
verbs just like to jump to the end of a
sentence you'll quickly catch on bottom
line the actual bones of the language
are really easy to get the hang off
since the core 30% of words are very
similar to English and those
netherlanders can help you they're right
up there with the best English speakers
in the world they don't need
I love this language I learned Italian
in just three month I recorded got three
month documentary about it's all in this
playlist uh here on YouTube that you can
check out if you want Italian is a joy
to learn because it's got that clear
crisp pronunciation and Rhythm and
melodic
sound it's basically music in everyday
conversation form same part Queen it's
also the closest living thing to Latin
so if you dabbled in Latin or any other
romance language you are already well
ahead of the game and honestly in my
opinion Italian is the easiest romance
language to learn best part is it's
completely phonetic there's no guesswork
involved no tricky surprises just
straightforward beautiful words that
roll off the tongue the sentence
structure is pretty close to English and
the rhythm of Italian is all about the
vowels almost all words end in one of
those vowels this means you're unlikely
to find many words that you can't get
your mouth around and they such a
pleasure to
[Music]
say even the longest words are very fun
to say come on try this
out you're going to recognize plenty of
words to even big ones like super and
Italian has the coolest
Expressions which literally means in the
mouth of the wolf and that's how you say
good luck in Italian literally in the
wolf's mouth Italian grammar is pretty
simple because it follows very regular
patterns biggest things you need to know
are that the nouns are gendered
adjectives have to match and you have to
conjugate those verbs all things which
for English speakers learning their
first foreign language take a bit of
time to get your head round but once you
understand the ground rules you can
figure out this stuff as you go along
when I was learning Italian I found that
as soon as I memorized the basic
patterns it was so easy to figure out
any verb in my head or at least get
close enough that you can just talk
without worrying about making the old
mistake trickiest bit well there are
some tricky grammar points like the
subjunctive but don't worry even
Italians mess it up sometimes so you'll
fit right
in before you know it you'll be
listening to Maran teaching you to cook
in Italian
[Music]
fast Italian yeah there's a goal for you
one more thing I don't need to tell you
that Italian is famous for its hand
gestures there are at least 250 of them
and they're born doing
it and that is how you win an argument
but by the way how would you like to win
a round trip ticket to anyone where in
the world a plane ticket you know so
listen up we are having a spectacular
big Autumn giveaway at story learning
it's a very exciting month everyone who
enters is guaranteed a prize and you
might even win the grand prize of a
roundtrip flight to anywhere in the
world yeah you heard that right this is
live right now so there's no time to
lose there are details in the
description
what do 21 countries have in common a
language that's everywhere from Mexico
to Spain Argentina to the US that's
right we are talking Spanish the rumors
are true it's one of the easiest
languages for English speakers and if
you're serious about learning Spanish
you can be conversational in far less
than a year this is not high school
language classes you have options now
I bet you caught some of that Spanish is
fast but you don't have to speak at warp
speed just go your own pace besides
context clues will help you understand
even if you miss a few words
why is Spanish considered an easier
language well it's phonetic to start and
there are ridiculous number of words
that are very very similar to English if
you can read Spanish you can speak it
there are no weird silent letters or
pronunciations that trip you up like
French there are only a couple of extra
letters like the like Manana you know
that's that word tomorrow
Spanish grammar may seem a little tricky
at first a bit like Italian because it
is different to English but it's simple
and it has some basic overlap for
example to make plural nouns in Spanish
you have the S just like in English it's
a good one for beginners because it's
logical and consistent you might already
know that Spanish nouns are either
masculine or feminine so it's easier
than languages like German and the
gender affects adjectives it's basically
a typical romance language what else
well there's quite a variety of tenses
and Spanish Verbs have conjugations but
the patterns are predictable and easy to
pick up once you now the basics
obviously this is all relative but
compared to other languages that you
might know from around the world these
are all things that count in your favor
if you focus on the present tense and
pronunciation you're going to be good to
go for most conversations and you know
people worry far too much about making
mistakes Spanish is one of those
languages where you can make a decent
guess even if you don't know something
and you probably be along the right
lines
if you're from the US well your biggest
Advantage is the sheer number of Spanish
speakers around you you're living right
next door to IM well you're living in
immersion so just go take it and there's
absolutely no shortage of Spanish shows
to get addicted
to listen Spanish is the second most
spoken native language in the world if
you haven't learned Spanish yet
well but if you're a bit of a rebel who
doesn't like any rules at all what I'm
about to make you
day I sense you racking your brain there
do you have an idea of what language you
just heard could it be Latin Sicilian
Romanian well I'll tell you what let's
hear it from a native speaker danas
it's a language that's been around since
1887 not that long ago in language years
and if you can imagine a language with
only 1,000 native speakers well this
might be the one for you now counting
second language speakers there are about
2 million worldwide not that much and
those babies well they're all catching
up
espiranto is the world's most famous
constructed language and it was created
by just one guy with one goal make it
ridiculously easy to learn so that's
five vowels extremely flexible word
order and words based on the romance
languages with a bit of Germanic and
Slavic flare thrown in for good measure
it's got all the greatest hits super
simple phonetic spelling pronunciation
is very intuitive
[Music]
but what's the whole point well the idea
was to give us a language that anyone
could learn easily one that was free of
any political or historical baggage so
that it could unite people in other
words a universal second language for
peace understanding and well World
Harmony
[Music]
Espo's grammar what is absolute dream
there are no weird rules no irregular
verbs nouns or adjectives very very
simple
[Music]
conjugations it was designed to be easy
so Esperanto follows one simple rule for
everything all nouns end in o all
adjectives end in a and all adverbs end
in e want to make something the opposite
well just add Mal and good becomes bad
and so on take a look so once you know
enough words making sentences is super
easy and you have to admit it sounds
pretty cool too
[Music]
honestly who cares if you can't take a
trip to Esperanto land you can be
conversational in just a few months and
studies said that knowing Esperanto
gives you a huge Edge for tackling any
other romance language which is pretty
cool and if your accent is bad who's
even gon to
know so bet you're wondering where
espiranto on the FSI chart well it takes
about one quarter of the time of
learning Italian so category zero I
guess I'm calling it category zero and
there's no shortage of Esperanto
learning material online either and yes
some people really do teach their babies
Esperanto as their first language but
this is all way too easy for you and
you'd rather learn the most impossible
languages on Earth while I have just a
video for you it's got all of the scary
things clicking sounds tones 18 letter
words with no vows it's going to make
you sweat oh and you'll also see me
singing as well
[Music]
