and if you look at the complexity of all

that and all that fits into this one box

which is quite clever really so today

we're going to be talking about the

davson DBS

2300 which is my kind of backup

secondary um complete power supply for

my van um obviously it's the perfect

off-grid setup for anyone that wants to

either have additional power like me or

a backup power supply or doesn't want to

go through all the comp plexities of

putting all those wires in the back of

the van um and they just want to wire it

that way now I've been using this for

several months and yes I um I'm sorry it

does look a bit battered and bruised but

there is an explanation behind that and

that's because my folding bike sits in

the garage right next to it and

unfortunately the handlebars and bits

like that kind of rub against it so

let's talk about spec now this is EV

grade semi solid life po 4 batteries

which are about 30% more energy

efficient uh than standard sort of lion

batteries um and this one's got a

4,500 charge cycle life as well the

internal battery capacity is

2330 WS but using a little extra um

parallel connection Port you can connect

more batteries to a total capacity of

8,330 w hours the battery will charge up

on AC at full power in around about 60

Minutes um of from 800 W which is its

maximum solar capacity it'll fully

charge in about 2.3 hours it's got a

pure sinewave inverter that is capable

of a constant output of 2,200 wats with

a surge output of

4,400 wat obviously it's got a couple of

uh usba a ports on the front um a pd1

100 which um is USBC which will easily

charge laptop MacBook that kind of thing

and some pd30 uh which is also USBC uh

pd30 ports on the front as well and it's

also got some 12vt outputs to a standard

cigarette lighter socket um a mini

Anderson connection which is 30 amps

rated at 12 volts and you've also got

two sort of barrel connections there

which are rated at 4 amps each as well

so it's got this little Anderson

connection or mini Anderson connection

on the front there so I've just simply

made my own cable up so that plugs in my

cable comes down to a little fuse box

I've made and on one side I've got this

cigarette lighter just to demonstrate

power and on the other side I've got

this which is just um two USB

outlets and I've put in a USB fan to

demonstrate that works and I've got a

tire inflator which works off 12 Vols so

you don't have to bother with the

battery if you don't want to to

demonstrate how that works now these

little mini Anderson connections are

something you can make up yourself said

easy uh and if you wanted to do this and

have some sort of protection on there

you could also put something like this a

30 amp breaker fuse in there as well but

obviously it's got its own control which

is the 30 amp 12vt so power that

on and see the Fan's now

on which has its own little controller

so we can turn the

fan

off oh back on

again um and now you can see the little

lights on there which means that we can

power this up

too so if we just switch that off which

is the 12

volts the fan shuts

off and there's nothing left in this

it's totally

dead so that's just an emergency kind of

you know system that I've got in place

should everything else I've got f

and if you look at the complexity of all

that and all that fits into this one box

which is quite clever really um so yeah

it's got a nice Outlet that's 12 volts

30 amps so you can power all your you

know your diesel heater your fridge fans

everything else on there you can power

that via a nice little sort of fuse box

just put in so you've got your own

little backup power supply if you need

it um and then via this port here I've

currently got a little conversion on

there it's an xt60 connection but I like

these xt90 cables cuz they're much

thicker and most um little solar panel

sort of um systems come with these xt90

as well so it's worth getting an xt60

converter and but that means you can

have a solar input charge um and

obviously that's a Main's input charge

and then fast charge on 12vt goes around

about sort of 80 to 100 wats um but if

you put it on fast charge and use that

little clever box there which kind of

converts 12 volts into about 30 volts

which is enough to confuse this that it

thinks it's on solar as you're driving

so put it on fast charge and it gives

600 WS input so if you can see there

I've got two cables one is a split cable

from my solar panel that goes to the

roof so my solar panel right now cable

comes down and it kind of like goes into

the Renegy which charges all that but

then it comes out with an xt90

connection and then the xt90 I have an

option then of plugging it into solar

which turns this cable it's just either

under this cable or I can connect the

xt90 into that 12vt sort of DC B2B

whatever you want to call it so right

now we're actually on solar so solar

power comes in this then charges that

battery whatever is left of solar power

is then using this connection to power

this and solar charge that so it's

pretty cool anyway and but yeah I do

like the fact that the fans are very

quiet unless it's on charge so if I do

want to charge it off a dedicated solar

panel then I can just put a dedicated

solar panel out like that and otherwise

like I say I can just use the one that's

on my roof and just re-root the cable by

that little switch there so this really

could just power your van entirely I I

say everything in there works just

flawlessly and it does replace all that

there fair enough that battery is a

slightly bigger capacity but that

inverter there 2,000 W inverter same as

that that's a 2,300 W inverter and the

dabson DBS 2300 also comes with yep you

guessed it an app so you can either

connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi so

connect the dabson to your local Wi-Fi

and you can connect to it anywhere then

monitor outputs you can switch things on

and off uh monitor inputs so you can see

if it's charged or not see how much

solar charge you get in and just

generally keep an eye on what's going on

with the battery so that is quite an

improvement cuz it does mean you can

Stow this away in your van somewhere and

remotely just power things on and off

via this nice little app I've connected

it up to three dabson 210 wat folding

solar panels um and they're connected in

series So in theory you should get 630

Watts but obviously it's quite late on

in the day now you can see from my

shadow on the floor that the sun is kind

of setting um so it's quite good that it

still getting almost 500 watts from this

setup but yeah these panels are

absolutely fantastic as well um very

durable very well built and manufactured

um quite lightweight 210 Watts so just

to put this into perspective the dabson

is rated at

2,300 WS of power my lithium battery

there that you can see in the background

the Renegy 200 amp lithium battery has

an energy rating or a watt rating of

2,400 wats so that dabson box there

manages to fit in an AC charger and a DC

charger a solar charger and a battery

that's almost the same capacity so

almost 200 amp hour battery um as well

as a 2 400 W inverter honestly it's just

amazing what that thing fits inside and

like I say for the price you just can't

um try and replicate everything that

fits in that box um especially with

Bluetooth monitoring and everything else

in there I also like the price as well

1,399 and you can't buy all that for £

1,399 yeah I price that up in a video
