what i was
trying to figure out is
uh for example many people in the in the
big four or in asset management have
their own certifications like the
chartered accountant or or the cfa is
there something similar that will stand
out in investment banking particularly
or not
good question i think
it varies on your employer i think um
the cfa is something that
i have seen but if you do get an
investment banking quite early when i
say early i have undergraduate there's
no need you learn enough technicals and
you do it
people do i guess for accreditation but
it's not a must um i'd say if you're
coming from a different industry then
the cfa is quite important so
i have a friend who recently made the
move from asset management to investment
banking now the cfa
alongside these two three years in asset
management provided evidence of
experience and commitment to finance and
understanding the finance principles
however if you are coming straight at
university
generally it's fine you don't have to um
do a cfa although it's always encouraged
if you can
what tends to happen is if you're a good
place and you're constantly learning you
you your concepts of finance will
improve anyway and secondly
um
you do get tested in order to be
regulated you do have to pass some
corporate finance and regulatory tests
before you
start your job
