🌿 Natural Hair Styling Products Review
Ebony J introduces her channel focused on beauty, hair products, and hair care tips. As a natural hair stylist, she shares her personal opinions on various hair products, particularly those used for braiding and styling natural hair. She discusses the Eco Olive Oil Shine, a conditioning shining and styling gel, which she finds has a pleasant smell but doesn't hold styles well, especially on natural hair, and may revert the hair. She suggests it might be suitable for clients with less curly or textured hair and rates it 3 out of 10. She also talks about the Touchdown Edge Tamer, which she believes comes in different scents but not necessarily different functionalities. She mentions that it can whiten hair over time and rates it 6 out of 10, recommending it more for edge control than for braiding.
📘 In-Depth Analysis of Edge Control Products
Ebony J continues her review with the Even 24-Hour Edge Tank, discussing its ingredients, which include water and castor oil, and noting that it can leave a white cast on the hair. She has used it for braiding but found it less effective over time. She rates it 6 or 7 out of 10, appreciating its edge control capabilities but cautioning against its potential to leave a white residue. She then introduces the Shine and Jam Magic Fingers for Braiders by Sasha Harris, praising its effectiveness in controlling frizz and holding clean parts without build-up. She rates this product 8.5 out of 10, highlighting its strong hold and suitability for braiding and clean parts. Ebony also mentions a variant of the Shine and Jam product with extra hold and conditioning properties, suitable for clients with hair that doesn't revert quickly, and rates it an 8 out of 10 for its moisturizing and protective qualities.
🌟 Exploring Edge Boosters for Hair Styling
In the final paragraph, Ebony J discusses the Edge Booster, available in various colors and scents, each with different functionalities. She explains that the maximum hold version, identifiable by its matching top and jar color, is particularly effective for thick and coarse hair. However, she notes that it can sometimes leave a white cast, especially on newer jars. She suggests using it as an edge control followed by a mousse or spritz to prevent the white cast. She shares her personal experience using it to create a slick ponytail, noting that while it provided extra hold, it made her hair appear as if it had gel in it. She lists the ingredients, including water, castor oil, beeswax, and caramel, which contribute to the product's non-sticky, tacky hold. She invites viewers to like, comment, and subscribe for more content and hints at a future video ranking braiding gels from best to worst.

hey what's up welcome back to my channel
my name is ebony j
on this channel i talk about all things
beauty
hair products and
just giving tips and tricks on hair i am
a natural hair stylist
so i'm going to be giving you my tips on
what i use
and what other people um may use that
works for them
but i'm just gonna give you my opinion
on these products that
um i use and don't use for my clients
and when i'm doing hair
braiding hair doing faux locs or
just regular braids chrome rose so i'm
gonna go through all the braiding gels
really
so whatever is in this video is gonna be
based on my opinions
so don't get crazy but yeah let's get
started on
these braiding hairs the first one i
want to
point out is this is the eco olive oil
shine
this right here
this is uh it says conditioning
shining and styling gel now when
it smells really good um
to me this does not hold a style it
definitely
will revert the hair you know if your
twine is natural i feel like this gel is
gonna
revert the hair as soon as you apply it
because this is that's what happened to
me
so i can probably only use this on
certain
clients who may not have like um
a really curly or textured curl pattern
so i can use this and get away with it
um
i wouldn't recommend it if you're trying
to get a style that's you're trying to
hold for a longer time
wouldn't say that this would be the best
i'm not sure if this is oil or
water-based
but the first ingredient does say water
so i'm not too sure about that but it
also has
other oils like mineral oil in it olive
oil of course
so but the first ingredient is water i
will rate this
i will rate this one out of ten i'm
gonna give it like a four maybe three
this could do just if i don't have any
of the gel and or maybe don't have any
other choice
that's just me the next gel i do want to
talk about is the touchdown
the touchdown edge tamer
um i think they come in different colors
i just think that they smell different i
don't think they do different things
based on the color
this one um it's like a pineapple or
something yeah it's a pineapple
since um it says edge control edge tamer
ultimate touch
non flaking tames frizz 24-hour hold
so silkier and nourishing hair rich
moisture into bacterial perfect match
for brazilian natural hair
brazilian natural hair they got me at
that i never noticed this said that but
yeah
the first ingredient is water
um it does have other oils in it
not too many tea tree leaf oil and
kernel oil um i'm not seeing really any
other oils really in this
um aragon oil tea tree oil
yeah antibacterial rich moisture silky
strong 24 hour hold
um now to actually braid hair
would i recommend this not so much this
might be a product that might
whiten up i have noticed that when i
first used the product it was pretty
good it didn't whiten up when i went
ahead and braided with my clients
but i noticed after a while this was
something that
once i got down to the bottom of the jar
and used it maybe like for a third time
it was starting to whiten up on maybe
some clients so i just stopped using it
um just because i don't need my clients
leaving with any
white cast on their hair that's just a
no so
you can definitely use this for braiding
um
i mostly use it just for the edges right
now
just as an edge control just because
it's a thick consistency so it really
does lay
down the hair and then afterwards i go
ahead with some
you can go in with got to be free spray
or you can use the
pump it up and just hold the style lay
down the edges
and just you know go from there but one
out of ten
what i use this for breading not so much
edges this might can do the job
but i'll rate this one maybe like a six
one out of ten i give this a six so
another edge control that i do and have
used
is the even 24 hour edge tank
this one is ultra super um the
ingredients
first thing is water castor oils in here
i'm not reading any other oils for right
now um i will say this does leave a
white cast as well
i have used it to braid before but i
noticed over time
while i'm braiding the hair it'll start
to leave a white cast especially if it's
mixing with
other products it'll definitely leave a
white cast if your client has is coming
in and they already
have an oil in their hair or they
already have some type of moisture or
something in their hair and you mix it
with this
it might leave a white cast so that i'm
just saying but it does work really good
as the edge control um would it last all
day for me it does not
i use got to be gel um the black bottle
on my own hair
um just because edge controls don't
really work so i can use
i can use gels and my hair doesn't
really revert back as long as it has a
strong hold to it
um when i use any edge controls i feel
like after a while they're just going to
start lifting up
and it's not going to give me a super
hold um like a gel can
opposed to like an edge control some
people use edge controls to braid
um i have before
i think it just depends really um but
yeah if i were to rate this one out of
ten i would give it like a six
maybe a seven just as long as it's not
leaving a white cast this could
definitely get the job done and hold
down the hair
um to break definitely um for edges
[Music]
it can hold but i don't think it's gonna
hold for 24 hours that's just my opinion
this right here is the shine and jam
magic fingers for braiders
by sasha harris um
this is the extra firm whole clean part
controls frizz no build up with olive
oil
no alcohol good for natural hair the
first ingredient is water of course um
it does have mineral oil olive fruit oil
and it's looking like the only oil i see
on here
um but i will say this definitely does
what it says
it definitely is no frizz firm
holds no build up and it definitely is
good for
clean parts if you want your parts to
look
clean this right here yeah the shiny jam
finding jam i use this one the most um
this is always my go-to um they also
have
shine and jam another one that i'm going
to show you guys
but i prefer this one this one has a
stronger hold
when it comes to holding the style or
holding the hair
in a stretch it kind of stretches the
hair in a way while i'm braiding
and i kind of like put it in the hair
and then i'll brush it down and then
i'll keep on braiding
um you just want to make sure i think
while using this i try not to use too
much
i just use enough to get the client's
hair
um you know not straightened out i don't
want to use that word
stretched out so that i can
lay the not the edges the
hair flat into the style um
what i use it says edge control no i
would not use it as edge control i don't
think it would last long on edges
but i do think that it has a really good
hole when it comes to braids
so i would definitely use this
especially if you want those clean
parts definitely if i rate this one out
of time right now this is probably going
to be a 8.59
okay so this is my absolute go-to this
is the main thing that i use for all of
my clients and this does not leave a
white cast whatsoever
which is a must
no white cast you don't want your
clients leaving out with the white cast
i mean
to go based off the last edge control i
was just talking about this is also a
shining
jam this shiny jam has as extra hold
conditioning gel
now the conditioning it doesn't say
conditioning gel
on this one but it does say it on this
one
and when i think about conditioning gel
i think about that it's going to be
super oily
i don't know why that's just how i think
of it and which they are
um this one is extra hole with ox it
also has honey in it
so when i use this i feel like this
immediately gets oily as soon as i use
it i only use it on clients that maybe
their hair doesn't revert
as fast or as much
i don't use this um on clients whose
hair
reverts fast when it touches water
um so i don't use this on all of my
clients i just use it on some of my
clients
you know if their hair doesn't really
revert that fast i can go ahead and
put it in and install it and it'll
definitely still hold the style that
shine and jam works really good this one
the maiden ingredient is also water
um it does have oil in it honey extract
mineral oil this definitely will add
moisture to your style if you're
somebody who has maybe
um problems with moisture and retaining
moisture in your hair this will
definitely leave moisture in your hair
to make sure that when you're doing a
protective style
that it'll leave moisture in your hair
and leave your hair protected as well
so i definitely rate this also maybe
like a eight
not a nine just because it doesn't
really hold like i needed to but it
definitely works really good this is
going to be
the last gel i talked about this is
the edge booster now edge booster has a
lot of different colors
they all smell different they some of
them do
different things now how you know if
they do different things you see how
this top
is matching the jar so this is a green
top
green jar they also have another one
that has like a black jar
and a white top not sure i'll leave a
picture if i can
the other one um is like a
hold but i think they have different
numbers on them
this one is maximum hold you'll know
because the jar
has the matching top to it it's the same
color
so when you open these up these are
usually black um
the other ones are clear gels this one
is a black gel
so the other ones that are like a black
jar or black top whatever
those are going to be like a clear gel
this one is maximum hold
it says lasting shape style and shine
shine for thick and coarse hair now
definitely this definitely works for
coarse hair now what i will say is it
will leave a white cast sometimes i feel
like the newer
the jar the less likely it will leave a
white cast
but from me using this and getting down
a little bit to it it's not
holding like it needs to definitely can
use this as an edge control but i would
follow up with maybe a mousse after
or some spritz just to hold down the
style so that it won't leave a white
cast
because this edge control i feel like
definitely leaves a white cast
on the ingredients in here oh rub i
smell my own hands and apply evenly
throughout wearing right here before
styling
what i will say is i have used this on
my hair
to do like a slick ponytail and my hair
was like maybe like blown out so
my hair was semi stretched out so when i
went ahead and used this
to like really slick it down it really
looked like my hair was straightened
but it did look like i had like a lot of
it looked like i had gel in my hair if
that makes sense like it didn't leave a
white cast but it definitely looked
look like i had gel in my hair so i
would just
be wary of this um i think it mixes
pretty well with water and it'll give
you
um an extra hold this is what works on
my hair i have not done that on a client
just on myself
i have mixed this with water and just
went ahead and slicked out my hair and
it definitely
will hold okay
so the ingredients the first ingredient
of course is water
um it says it has castor oil in it
and that's the only other oil beeswax
beeswax is beeswax and caramel these are
the two things that are probably making
this
product extra not sticky
but tacky enough to where it's leaving a
hold on it
so beeswax definitely caramel
definitely so this probably was given
that that extra hold so i hope this
video was helpful um these are all my
tips that i have on these gels when i
use
