Q & A
Why does eBay encourage new sellers to stay on the platform?
-eBay makes money by charging sellers fees on sales, so they encourage new sellers to continue selling on the platform to generate revenue from them.
How does eBay's algorithm benefit new sellers?
-eBay's algorithm prioritizes new sellers by promoting their listings to encourage them to stay on the platform, which helps them compete against established sellers.
What is the difference between a private account and a business account on eBay?
-A private account is for individuals selling personal items they no longer need, while a business account is for sellers who buy items with the intent to resell. Business accounts incur higher fees, but they are necessary for running a commercial operation on eBay.
Why is upgrading to a business account important for sellers with multiple listings?
-eBay expects sellers with many listings to upgrade to a business account. If they don't, eBay might shadow ban their account, making their listings less visible to buyers.
Why should new eBay sellers wait 21 days before listing items?
-New sellers should wait 21 days and gather at least five feedback ratings as buyers to build credibility. This helps avoid account bans and increases the chances of making sales once they start listing items.
How can adding videos to eBay listings increase sales?
-Adding short videos to demonstrate the product can boost sales by making the listing appear more professional and trustworthy, which eBay's algorithm favors.
Why is improving your title crucial for eBay listings?
-The title is a key factor in eBay's search algorithm. Using relevant keywords that buyers search for helps improve the listing's visibility, making it more likely to appear at the top of search results.
How can eBay sellers find relevant keywords for their listings?
-Sellers can use eBay's auto-suggestions by typing relevant product keywords in the search bar. These suggestions reflect the most common buyer searches and help improve the listing's visibility.
What is the recommended approach for managing listings when starting out on eBay?
-Sellers should list five items at first and focus on those that receive views or sales. Removing unsuccessful listings and testing new items helps maintain a good listing-to-sales conversion rate, which eBay values.
What should sellers focus on to ensure a successful eBay listing?
-Sellers should focus on optimizing their title, using high-quality images, and ensuring that their listing complies with eBay's best practices for search engine optimization to improve their chances of making sales.
Outlines
🛍️ eBay's Algorithm Supports New Sellers
The first paragraph explains that eBay's business model benefits new sellers. eBay makes money by charging sellers fees, and the platform encourages new sellers to stay and succeed. eBay's algorithm often gives new sellers an advantage, offering multiple sales at once to help them gain traction. This helps foster new sellers on the platform, ensuring they continue listing and selling. Therefore, new sellers shouldn’t worry about competing with established sellers, as the algorithm can work in their favor.
🔄 Why You Should Start With a Business Account
This section emphasizes the importance of starting with a business account rather than a private one. Private accounts are for personal selling, but if you're consistently listing items, you should upgrade to a business account to avoid eBay shadow-banning your listings. A business account has higher fees, but it is necessary for anyone selling with the intention of making a profit. An anecdote is provided about a seller who upgraded to a business account and saw immediate improvement in sales.
🛒 Build Feedback Before Listing
The third paragraph advises new eBay sellers to wait at least three weeks before listing any items. In that time, they should purchase small, inexpensive items to build up at least five buyer feedbacks. This helps new sellers avoid a 'zero feedback' status, which can discourage potential buyers. Listing too early, especially with zero feedback, can lead to shadow banning by eBay, reducing visibility. Gathering feedback before listing builds credibility, much like how testimonials helped boost sales of an online course.
🎥 Use Videos to Instantly Boost Sales
This paragraph highlights the often-overlooked strategy of adding short videos to eBay listings. Most sellers only include pictures, but videos, even simple ones shot with a phone, can make your listing stand out and look more professional. eBay’s algorithm rewards sellers who include videos, boosting their listing visibility. The video doesn't need to be high-quality; it just needs to demonstrate the product’s functionality. This tip can provide an instant sales boost by appealing to eBay’s algorithm and giving buyers more confidence in the product.
🖋️ Crafting the Perfect eBay Title
This section focuses on the critical role of a strong title in eBay listings. Over 60% of a listing’s success comes from the title, followed by the quality of the pictures. Sellers are advised to use eBay’s auto-recommended keywords, which reflect what buyers are actively searching for. Tools like Zeke Analytics can help sellers identify the most relevant and high-volume keywords. Properly optimized titles will ensure that listings appear higher in search results, increasing visibility and sales potential.
📊 Listing Strategy to Maximize Sales Conversion
In this final tip, sellers are warned against the misconception that more listings automatically lead to more sales. Instead of flooding the platform with listings, sellers should focus on keeping their 'listing-to-sale' conversion rate high. It’s recommended to start with a few listings, keep those that perform well, and remove the underperforming ones. This strategy ensures that the store maintains a high conversion rate, which the eBay algorithm rewards by increasing visibility. Listing quality over quantity is the key to success on eBay.

Highlights
eBay's algorithm favors new sellers to help them succeed by providing higher visibility early on, countering the misconception that new sellers cannot compete with established ones.
It's crucial to start with a business account rather than a private account, as eBay may shadow ban accounts that exceed the limitations of private selling.
To improve your sales potential, ensure you have at least five buyer feedbacks before listing items as a new seller on eBay.
Adding a short video (under 30 seconds) to product listings can drastically increase engagement and boost sales, as very few sellers utilize this feature.
Improving your listing titles is key; using relevant keywords suggested by eBay's search engine ensures higher visibility and better search rankings.
Using tools like Zeke Analytics to refine titles and analyze keyword search volume can significantly enhance the visibility of your listings.
Focus on listing fewer items and tracking performance rather than overloading your store with too many listings, which could hurt your sales conversion rate.
Once certain listings perform well in terms of sales and views, remove underperforming ones to maintain a high sales-to-listing conversion rate.
Avoid creating multiple listings at once without testing; start with five listings, evaluate the results, and proceed incrementally.
The eBay algorithm gives preference to sellers who consistently sell items, which is why testing and optimization of product listings are essential.
Proper search engine optimization (SEO) for eBay is crucial to ensure your listings are aligned with what eBay’s algorithm favors, such as keyword optimization in titles.
Sellers should prioritize the title and pictures, as these two factors weigh most heavily in eBay’s algorithm for determining listing visibility.
Videos not only help in buyer engagement but also provide a boost in ranking by eBay's algorithm, which encourages richer content in listings.
Listing more items doesn't automatically result in more sales; it's about listing the right items and understanding buyer behavior through metrics.
To achieve optimal sales conversion, new sellers should aim for at least a 30% listing-to-sales ratio in the early stages of selling.

if you're a new eBay seller waiting to
get your first order or you're someone
who is struggling to get the sales in
general in this video I'm gonna share
with you 6 hacks which will instantly
boost your sales so let's get started
first thing let's talk about the eBay
algorithm eBay actually make their money
by charging the fee from the sellers so
once you sell on a platform EB obviously
take their card that's their business
model so it's actually within their
business model to encourage new sellers
stick to the eBay platform and they keep
on selling on a platform and that's how
they're gonna make their money that's
their business model so a lot of people
say well you know how can I compete with
the sellers who've been on a platform
for a really long time they have a lot
of feedback actually the algorithm is
working in your favor pay close
attention I'm gonna give you a really
really good example a lot of time and a
lot of people will actually verify this
in the comments as well if you get a
sales on eBay you get multiple orders in
one single time so you get a lot of
orders within one hour and then it all
go quiet so both eBay does within that
particular lover they switch algorithm
so they actually give a priority to new
seller to encourage them so they can
keep on selling to the platform this way
they add new sellers they charge fee
from from them and that's how they make
money so they actually want to help you
they want to encourage new sellers to
actually keep sticking to the platform
and keep on selling as well so if you're
a new seller most likely algorithm is
working in your favor so do not worry
about Leica I don't have a lot of
feedback I don't have this a lot this
all that kind of stuff as well what you
need to do is to pay very close
attention to next five things which I'm
gonna tell you because this was really
really important for me to clarify to
encourage you that you can compete with
the sellers and algorithm is working in
your favor the second thing is you want
to get started with the right type of
account what do I mean by that a lot of
people get started with a private
account on eBay and the private account
is meant to be for somebody who is just
trying to get rid of the items which
they no longer need they didn't buy the
item in attention to resell those items
and make money from it so realistically
even if you have 10 listing at one
period of time eBay is expecting you to
upgrade that account to the business
account because I said in a first tip
that eBay is making money in terms of
fee they're gonna charge from you so the
private account have a less fee as
compared to the business account and if
you have a 10 listing it is very obvious
that nobody gonna have 10 items which
they no longer need at the end of day so
even know this they don't really ban
your accounts of what they do they
actually sometimes do ban your account
as well what they do is they Shadow ban
your account so your account is going to
be there your listing is going to be
there as well but buyer will not be able
to see that listing and you can see this
in your Seller Central that you're not
getting a lot of views on your listings
as well prove my point and a lot of
people is not going to agree with me I
know somebody they contacted me they had
around 100 listings and they were
selling new items and the content mean
that they are not getting a lot of sales
so what they can do I look at their
account it was a private account I told
them look as soon you're gonna upgrade
your account to business account
obviously the fee is going to be a
little bit higher as compared to private
account but you are running a business
so once you're running a business
obviously you're using their platform
you need to pay fee for it at the end of
the day you know what I mean so as soon
he upgraded his account or the business
account he had 100 listings so there was
no point for him to actually stay as a
private seller because he wasn't a
private seller he was selling on eBay on
a regular basis he was buying the item
in retention to resell those items the
new item or used item that doesn't
really matter his attention was to
desell those items and he had a hundred
listings so as soon he upgraded his
account from a private account to the
business account he start getting orders
after orders orders after orders as well
so that's the reason I recommend from
the first day regardless you are a big
and small whatever you do if your
attention is to do it as a business even
if it's small even if you were selling
used items start with a business account
yes the fee is little bit higher yes you
will have to pay listing fee which is
30p on a business account once he lists
the item private sellers sometimes they
get the promotion they don't have to pay
for it but it's not worth your point to
sell on eBay is to make money from it
and you only make money once you're
gonna get the sales obviously you're
getting a sales and then you're not
gonna mind if you will have to pay some
fee to eBay to use their platform as
well so please if you are using a
private account and you're not getting a
lot of sales and you have a lot of
listing and you're listing the item
which are not your belongings and you
are like really listing those to make
money out of them upgraded to the
business account and you're gonna see
the difference the third tip is really
useful for somebody who have a zero
feedback or less feedback if you're
somebody who just recently created your
eBay account please do not list any item
for at least three weeks I'm talking
about 21 days do not list any item until
you get at least minimum minimum five
feedback you can get that feedback as a
buyer as well so you can buy cheap items
from eBay for example 199 all that kind
of stuff some charging cables those are
really really cheap and you're gonna
need those every single day as well get
at least minimum five feedback as a
buyer and then after 21 days start
listing your items because a lot of
people what they do as soon they create
an account most of them they will start
with the Drop Shipping and they're gonna
use some kind of software and bombard
with tons of listing tons of listing and
they will get their account back even if
they don't get their account banned
again they're gonna get the shadow ban
where their account will be their
listing will be there but the buyer will
not be able to say so be in the eBay
good books first at least get five
feedback once your feedback is zero and
the seller gonna see a zero figure
nobody like to be in a trial period
where they don't have any experience
from other people like for example it's
not like a perfect time you know it's
just came up in my mind we have a zero
to full time eBay selling course and the
sale for the course actually went up
once we had the testimonials from other
students as well in the beginning I
didn't had any testimonial any reviews
whatsoever so sale was really really
slow as soon we get some feedback from
the students the scene really start
going up as well same thing if you list
the item on eBay and you don't have any
feedback nobody will lie to be in a
position where they have to test
something and then based on they will
provide the feedback that's why what you
need to do to remove that zero figure at
least get some feedback They Don't
Really normally go and see if that
feedback is as a buyer feedback or as a
seller feedback just the zero in front
of your name will be gone yeah at least
five feedback then start listing the
item you will see your sale will be
posted the fourth tip nobody is
literally doing it even the bigger
sellers are not doing it if you do this
you have a huge opportunity to actually
get the sales instantly before we talk
about it if you're getting value from
this channel my name is Zen cha on this
channel I talk about how to
realistically make money online as an
e-commerce sell it so platform like eBay
Amazon and other topics like how you can
realistically make money online we all
discuss that on this channel it's gonna
be massive help if you subscribe to the
channel it's free just to click on the
Subscribe button hit the like button and
if you have any question I always answer
are my comments like literally nobody
else do that I answer all my comments if
you have any question ask me inside the
comments I will be more than happy to
answer that so the fourth tip is nobody
doing that as I mentioned if you do this
you will get instant sale nobody is
actually adding videos inside their
listing I see many sellers like I would
even say I might be wrong but maybe I
will be very close 95 of the salads they
just have only pictures if you add short
video which will really demonstrate your
product and show how you can use it it
just simply look more professional and
you don't have to make like apple style
product launch videos it can be simply
with your mobile phone like if you're
selling a charging cable just like kind
of show that plug that inside and see it
comes on and the buyer will get just the
kind of sense of satisfaction okay well
they are showing the product as well it
is working add a short video make sure
that video is not very long under 30
second will do as well you can just
simply if you have problem with the
lighting will that kind of stuff as well
you can just simply go outside like in a
park the pictures on a green background
they look really really good as well it
just kind of gives a satisfaction to the
eyes so just take the pictures in a park
natural lighting there is nothing better
than natural lighting as well of course
if it's not raining we live in England
but you know coming back to the point if
you add under 30 second videos you will
get the Boost from algorithm as well
because eBay want you to add the videos
it's just too much of work and the
bigger sellers they are just kind of you
know went into their comfort zone they
are getting a sales already so they
don't really bother to do this extra
strap if you do this extra strap you're
gonna get a lot of love from algorithm
and you're gonna get higher ranking
inside the listing so by adding a video
you will see that you will get instant
sale the fifth tip is a little bit
technical but if you know me I like to
make things easier for you to understand
so I'm gonna share my screen and the
reason I'm going to share my screen
because this tip is related to how you
can improve your title because if you
can improve two things inside your
listings number one first improve your
titles because this is how the buyer
gonna find your item when I say buyer is
most eBay algorithm because I will show
you what do I mean by that I don't want
to make it too complicated for you this
is how the buyer gonna find your item
this is how the eBay algorithm gonna
suggest to your listing and put in front
of the buyer the second things are going
to be pictures because this is how the
buyer gonna decide they're gonna buy
from you and they are not going to buy
from you looking at your pictures as
well they also play very important roles
the title is like a major factor like
over 60 of your efforts once you are
listing the item on eBay should go
inside improving your title and then I
would say like nearly around 30 should
be inside the pictures and then also 10
other item like specification and
description and all that kind of stuff
as well so titles are very important I'm
gonna share my screen right now so you
will know what I'm talking about there
are two ways to improve your titles free
V and the paid ways as well so I'm gonna
show you both of them I'm like you know
I like you to have options you know at
the end of the day this is it's good to
have options so this is a screen right
here you go to eBay as a buyer first of
all and just try to think of any words
which are relevant to the product that
you are going to list so for example if
I was going to list iPhone cable I'm
gonna type iPhone cable you see these
Auto recommendation which pops up these
are the keywords which the buyer type
once they are looking for this
particular item and eBay artificial
intelligence their algorithm they know
that so that's why they are
automatically recommending this to the
buyer if you are using these kind of
keywords of course if they are relevant
to your products the chances of getting
your product higher in the ranking is
going to be also higher it's going to
show up on the top of the search results
because you're using the same kind of
keywords inside your title as well so
this is the way to find the relevant
keywords which are like which are going
to be really really helpful in order for
your listing to have a higher ranking it
can be any product so for example if I
was going to do water you were selling
water bottle then a lot of people they
would prefer like water bottle 2 liter
if it's two liter then like you know do
like that stainless steel water bottle
with a Time marking with the auto kind
of recommendation you can actually get a
really good products ID as well so let's
say if I was thinking about selling a
water bottle I'm gonna type a water
bottle and then it's gonna give me
specifically what kind of water bottle
people are looking for this is the way
if you're using these kind of keywords
it's gonna really really help the second
way to find out it will tell you exactly
the search volume like how many people I
typing like looking for the water bottle
for the kids or how many people are
looking for the water bottle which are
two liter and then if you take those
kind of keywords and put them inside
your title the way to find it and take
it to the next level is by using Zeke
analytics Zeke analytics is a product or
research software for eBay if you're
somebody who is serious about selling on
eBay and if you ask me what is the best
software which will help you to do your
product research which will help you to
find a supplier for those particular
item as well I have a full tutorial
about zekanalytics I will leave the link
for that Insider description as well but
keyword finder the keyword the title
Builder option inside the zig analytics
is also really really amazing so if you
go inside a title Builder it's option
inside the zig analytics click on that
one and then just look for let's say I
will do iPhone cable just to show you
what is the difference once you do it on
eBay and once you do it like Insider
Zeke analytics inside the Zeke analytics
you can see it will give you the sales
like how many sales are coming from
these kind of keywords and it will also
give you the keyword search volume so if
I wanted to make the title out of this
one I can see okay iPhone is the good
keyword because it's have a higher
search volume than the cable and then
the charger and then but I will the V
I'm gonna make a title I'm gonna type
iPhone fast charging cable for Apple
iPhone I can't say Buy Apple iPhone
because it's gonna sounds like it's
original but I can obviously type for
Apple iPhone so if I make this title
based on the search volume and then also
based on sales as well the chances of
getting my item my listing on the top of
the search results and the buyer can
find it easily is going to be higher so
simply improving your title is going to
help you a lot the sixth tip is really
really important and this is the last
tip as well if you haven't pressed the
like button make sure you press the like
button all that kind of stuff you know
what I mean a lot of new sellers the
mistake that they do once they join the
platform they probably heard from other
people that you have to list on a
regular basis in order for you to get a
lot of sale in order for you to get love
from eBay algorithm that's what we read
all the time on Facebook this is
completely wrong it can be right because
you know and I'm gonna explain this why
it's right and why it's wrong as well it
can be right because once you're listing
more items you are just putting more
items in front of your customers so
chances of getting sales is going to be
higher no doubt about that but at the
same time it can really really hurt your
store what I normally do if I'm starting
with the eBay Drop Shipping or even if I
have an item in stock as well whatever
the way you are doing it that's a
different discussion if you're starting
only list five items first like five
different listings and then see which
ones are getting sales which ones are
getting views only keep those listing
and remove the rest of them and then do
more listing if you're just gonna put
like a okay a lot of people ask me how
many listings shall I do in a week or in
a month no that's absolutely wrong the
way you have to look at it you do as
much you can but at the same time you
want to keep the metric that we call is
listening to sales conversion if you
have let's say 100 listing on your store
and only five of them are getting sales
on an instant pieces in the eyes of eBay
you are listing simply products that
nobody want to buy so if you list more
the item it's gonna go into that
particular category okay this is a store
where nobody want to buy the item and
they all the time list the crappy item
they is are not going to give you
impression in front of the customer
because once the customer search
something they have a limited space in
terms of how many items they can show on
a first page if they think this item the
customer is not going to like it and you
have that kind of store already where
the sales conversion rate is already low
you are actually really working against
Yourself by listing more and more and
more item so in order for you to keep
the conversion rate higher list five
item first then see which ones are
getting views which one we're getting
sales keep those item remove rest of
them and then test with the next five
item and then test with next Wi-Fi them
ideally ideally I know it is impossible
to get 100 sales to conversion rate but
in the beginning I will say minimum
minimum Target at least at least 30
percent if you have listed 10 item at
least three of them should have to be
successful in order for you to get more
impression more visibility of your
product in the eBay algorithm that's the
thing which a lot of people they make a
mistake about it but at the end of the
day there is no point to do all that if
you haven't listed your item properly
what do I mean by that a lot of people
just simply don't know how to list the
item properly they just think okay I'm
just gonna put the title here picture
here and that's all good but you're not
gonna get a sales so according to
properly the way to do it by keeping
search engine optimization in mind like
how eBay want you to list your item but
algorithm is looking for so that's the
reason I done this video right here
without that all the tips are useless to
be honest with you if you haven't listed
your item properly so make sure you
watch this video right here and I will
see you soon
