How to reduce temperatures in 12th gen processors!!??
Summary
TLDRIn this video, Justin addresses the challenge of reducing temperatures in top-generation CPUs, particularly for laptops. He explores the limitations of Intel's 12th generation CPUs, noting the absence of unlocked undervolting in U and H series processors. Justin guides viewers through using ThrottleStop to adjust power limits (PL1 and PL2) to manage temperatures effectively. He recommends setting long and short power limits to 40, with the option to lower to 35 for further temperature reduction, cautioning against significant performance loss. The video also touches on the quest for an official method to unlock undervolting and provides instructions for resetting ThrottleStop configurations.

Q & A
What is the main topic of Justin's video?
-The main topic of Justin's video is showing viewers how to reduce temperatures in top-generation CPUs, specifically for laptops, but the principles can also be applied to desktops.
Why is Justin looking for a solution to unlock undervolting?
-Justin is looking for a solution to unlock undervolting because Intel has decided to only allow undervolting in the HK and HX series CPUs, and not in the U or H series.
What software does Justin recommend for managing CPU temperatures?
-Justin recommends using ThrottleStop, a software that allows users to manage and control CPU power limits and temperatures.
What is the default setting for power limits in Intel's 12th generation CPUs according to Justin?
-According to Justin, the default setting for power limits in Intel's 12th generation CPUs is set quite high, which is not ideal for temperature management.
What power limit settings does Justin recommend for long and short power PL1 and PL2?
-Justin recommends setting the long power limit (PL1) to 40 and the short power limit (PL2) to 40 for normal gaming situations.
What is the lowest power limit setting Justin suggests without significant performance loss?
-Justin suggests not going lower than 35 for both long and short power limits if you want to reduce temperatures further without noticing a lot of performance loss in games.
How can viewers reset ThrottleStop to its default settings according to the video?
-To reset ThrottleStop to its default settings, viewers can delete the ThrottleStop configuration file, which is usually saved on the desktop or in a specified folder.
What is the purpose of GPL in ThrottleStop as mentioned in the video?
-GPL in ThrottleStop stands for 'Generic Power Limit' and it is used to control the power limits of the CPU, which in turn helps in managing the CPU temperatures.
Why does Justin mention the wattage of games in the video?
-Justin mentions the wattage of games to illustrate that in normal gaming situations, the wattage rarely goes over 30 or 35, which is why setting the power limits to 40 is a reasonable starting point for temperature management.
What is the alternative method Justin uses that doesn't work on 12th generation CPUs?
-Justin mentions an alternative method he uses for temperature management that doesn't work on 12th generation CPUs due to differences in architecture, but he does not specify what that method is in the provided transcript.
Outlines
🔥 Reducing CPU Temperatures in Laptops
In this video, Justin addresses the challenge of reducing temperatures in top-generation CPUs, specifically for laptops. He mentions the limitations set by Intel on unlocking undervolting for U and H series CPUs, which are only available in HK and HX series. Justin is actively searching for a solution to unlock undervolting for all processors. He assumes viewers have ThrottleStop installed and guides them through setting up power limits in ThrottleStop to reduce temperatures. He recommends setting long power to 40 and short power to 40, with a caution against setting it lower than 35 to avoid performance loss. He also provides instructions on how to reset ThrottleStop to default settings if needed.

hi there guys this is Justin here again
in today's video what I'm going to be
doing is showing you how to reduce
temperatures in the top generation CPU
my channel is geared towards laptops so
this is specifically for laptops but I'm
more than certain that you can use the
same principle on desktops as well so as
you know
Intel decides very wisely decided that
there was no way to unlock an evolting
in a in a U or h
um Paul chain CPU it's only in the HK
and the HX where underwater is unlocked
so now I am daily looking for a solution
by Reddit why all these different Forums
on the internet to find out if there is
a clever way to unlock undervolting for
any plot generation processor I haven't
found that yet but trust me I'm looking
so anyways let's get to the method so
what you're going to do is and I'm going
to assume that you already have partial
stuff
if you don't have throttle stop go ahead
and download throttle stop and then you
know obviously set it up and you know so
anyways you're going to open up plural
stop so now unfortunately with the 12th
generation either you or H processor
frbr everything's going to be greater
for you over here so that's not going to
be the focus of this video so seeing
what you can't use f5vr you're going to
go into GPL
and then you're gonna uh so now
obviously by default it says disable
control
so you're just going to untick this and
then you're going to see it's going to
open up long power pl1 and short power
PLT so I don't know why but Intel sets
these numbers crazy high so now in a
normal game an in a normal gaming
situation if you if you're measuring
your your
um
if you imagine your wattage you're going
to notice that there are very few games
where your wattage goes over 30 or 35.
so what I recommend is setting your long
power to 40 setting this figure to 40
over here and then the short power to
40. and then once you've done that click
up press OK and then play again see if
you're happy with the power of with the
temperature reduction if you want if you
still want some more temperature
reduction and you haven't noticed a lots
in performance in your games
I wouldn't recommend going anything
lower than 35 so you can either set it
to 37 and 37 or 35 and 35 notes I
recommend to be honest anyways
same thing click a bar press OK and then
what you're going to do I'm just going
to reverse this could clean because
obviously
obviously I've already got my underwater
applied yet so what you're going to do
is
see see what uh your power limit is at
for the short and long term at 40 and
40. you're not happy with your
temperatures
set it to lowest 35 or 35. and that is
how you reduce your temperatures in top
generation
obviously as mentioned I am going to be
scarring the forums day in and day out
to try to find an official way to unlock
an evolting in any 12th generation
processor unfortunately the architecture
is different so I do have another method
that I use but unfortunately that does
not work on 12th generation CPUs but I
will be on the lookout for that also
another thing guys if you want to go
ahead if you're not happy with uh with
reducing the TPL and you want to reset
let me show you if you want to reset all
these values to the original value
what you can do is so I've got the
configuration file from photo stop I've
got it normally it will save on your
desktop I specifically put it into a low
folder called programs so if you want to
reset throttle stop just find where your
throttle stop configuration file is
let's go ahead and delete that and then
you can start from then you can start
from scratch you can you can load throw
stop and then just input all your
settings in all your settings
uh will be set to to default
anyways guys
um if you enjoyed that video go ahead
and smash that like button uh if you
haven't subscribed to the channel this
yet please go please be so kind and just
massage that subscribe button
um
but mostly guys most importantly enjoy
the receipts people like you cheers
