STAY AWAY from these GOLD CHAINS!
Summary
TLDRThe video advises viewers on which gold chains to avoid buying long-term if the intent is daily wear. It first cautions against hollow chains, which are temptingly affordable but fragile with frequent use. Next, it warns against two-tone or tri-color plated chains, as the plating fades over time leaving just the base gold color. For thin chains, it recommends opting for durable styles like Franco and bypassing delicate options prone to damage. Finally, it argues against herringbone chains, which inevitably develop irritating kinks and bumps regardless of quality.

Q & A
What types of gold chains does the author not recommend for long-term wear and why?
-The author does not recommend hollow chains, two-toned or tri-color plated chains, thin delicate chains like 1mm rope chains, or herringbone chains for long-term wear. These chains tend to be more fragile, prone to damage, fading of plating, or getting kinks and bumps over time with regular use.
What are some benefits of investing in solid gold jewelry?
-Solid gold jewelry tends to hold up better over decades of regular use. Gold also retains inherent value over time compared to non-precious metals. Buying quality solid gold chains is investing in something to wear and enjoy for a lifetime.
Why are hollow chains so popular yet not recommended for daily wear?
-Hollow chains are very popular because they offer a bigger, flashier look for less money compared to solid chains. However, they sacrifice durability with their hollow construction, making them prone to damage with daily wear over time.
How can you tell if a two-tone or tri-color chain has plating versus being made of mixed alloys?
-Plated two-tone chains will fade and the plating will wear off over time, reverting to the base metal color. Mixed alloy chains made of hand-twisted yellow, white, and rose gold wires will retain their colors for life without plating issues.
What style chains are better alternatives for small and delicate chains?
-For small and delicate chains, styles with sturdier links like Franco, cable, Singapore, Figaro, and Gucci chains are better choices than styles like rope and wheat chains which are prone to breaking.
Why doesn't the author sell herringbone chains?
-While the author loves the look of herringbone chains, he chooses not to sell them because they inevitably develop kinks and bumps over time that cannot be fixed or repaired, which would disappoint customers.
What approach does the author take when deciding which chains to sell or not sell?
-The author evaluates chains based on how they would hold up with long-term daily wear over many years. He does not want to sell products that would disappoint customers down the road even if they sell well initially.
What chain style does the author wear and recommend?
-The author wears and recommends a 5.5mm white gold flat curb chain that he has worn daily without taking off for over 13 years. This demonstrates the durability and longevity of his recommended chain styles.
Why doesn't the author sell popular but problematic chain styles even if they would sell well?
-The author prioritizes offering quality, durable jewelry that will truly last for customers rather than maximizing sales. He does not feel good selling chain styles he knows will develop issues over time and disappoint buyers.
What advice does the author give for shoppers wanting to invest in gold chains?
-The author advises shoppers to carefully consider durability issues with certain chain styles if they want to invest in gold chains to wear daily for many years. Avoid known problem styles and go for timeless classics that will hold up over decades.
Outlines
😀 Types of Chains to Avoid for Long Term Wear
The first paragraph discusses types of chains to avoid for long term daily wear due to durability issues. It focuses on hollow chains which appear tempting due their large size and lower price, but cautions they will not hold up to regular use. It also advises against two-toned or tri-color chains with plating, which will fade over time.
😟Issues with Thin Chains and Herringbone Chains
The second paragraph continues discussing chain styles to avoid - thin 1mm rope chains risk breaking when caught on clothing, while herringbone chains inevitably develop bumps and kinks over time that cannot be fixed. The author refuses to sell these styles despite demand due to wanting to provide quality jewelry.

what's going on everyone it's brain
which could you find jewelry sure
personal Julia in my opinion when you
buy a gold chain a gold ring bracelet
you're buying it to wear and to enjoy it
for a lifetime that is why you would
invest in gold besides the fact that it
does have value I want to make a video
on chains to avoid if you have that
intent because generally they do not
hold up long term with that being said
let's get started chain number one it is
the ultimate trap is the old you hear
that Hollow chains now I got the most
popular chain the hollow Rogue chain I
bought this eight millimeter 10 karat
Hollow rope chain from eBay for a
thousand bucks that is why they are so
popular and tempting because generally
people want the biggest look for the
less price and Hollow chains offer that
now the problem is if you wear this
thing daily you want to wear all the
time don't be surprised or disappointed
if something happens to it because they
are fragile thicker your train to hold
up better but overall Hollow trains I do
not recommend them if you want to wear
it all the time now if you're just gonna
wear it once a month occasionally and
you're mature it will hold up but
overall if you want to wear your chain
stay away from Hollow I know it is
tempting to buy it because it's less in
price but generally if you really do the
price per gram Hollow tends to be more
per gram compared to Salt although with
salt you have to pay for a lot more
grass but just something to think about
overall I do not recommend Hollow chains
especially if you're going to wear them
all the time next out I do not recommend
is a two-toned or tri-color train that
has plating on them now take a look at
this yellow gold diamond cut Franco with
white gold plating on top of the diamond
cuts it looks really cool guys but this
is rhodium plated over yellow gold which
means over time that white gold will
fade and you'll be left with just yellow
gold now when you go going to a jeweler
store everything looks brand new the
Jeweler wants to sell you they don't
care about what your chain looks like in
a year or two they want to sell you on a
beautiful looking chain right then right
there it is my job to inform you guys
these style chains are plated the
factories love to play anything they
will play anything because it is easy to
do so it's much harder like this three
um the tri-color rope chain that are
made by hand these are the Alloys that
they are yellow gold white gold rose
Gold Twisted together to make a road
Chain by hand it's much harder to do
that and that is why we sell the
tri-color rope chains because they're
actually try color compared to this
Franco that is a yellow gold finished
with white rhodium on those diamond cuts
it's gonna fade and eventually you're
gonna be left with a Franco chain that
looks like it was put in a blender
because it just does not make sense it
looks beautiful now but down the road
long-term wear like we're talking about
it's gonna fade and you will not be
happy with it do not try to take it to a
local jeweler to re-rodium it has to be
done from a factory and sending it back
to wherever it came from just doesn't
make a lot of sense here is a Figaro
again the same diamond cuts the same
finish a lot of people like these we
don't sell these because we know long
term it's just not going to work so if
you want to go with something go with
the actual natural alloy it's hard to
come by because like I said it's more
time more labor and effort let's take a
look at this five and a half millimeter
brand new white gold flat curve compared
to my five and a half millimeter white
gold flat curb that I've worn for 13
years every single day never take it off
you could see the coloring difference
yes the rhodium whitens it up but
overall I have a naturally alloid white
gold chain it looks great now but it is
not yellow so if you think you're
getting a nice pretty two-tone train and
a diamond cut are hitting and it looks
good just know over time it'll wear down
and you'll be left with that base metal
or gold color When shopping around for a
thin gold chain to pair a small pendant
with
chains that might have durability issues
like this one millimeter rope chain
there's a reason why we do not sell the
one millimeter rope chain anymore just
too thin for the style and at that one
millimeter size guys you really can't
tell the difference between all these
little chains they kind of look the same
so go with a more durable the reason is
the just how the rope chain is between
those little links it might get caught
on a shirt a sweater and then when you
pull it off snap bone busted no fixing
it it is done that's why I like the
Franco the Jacobi link the heavy link
stronger Links at that smaller size it
will just prevent and avoid that so four
chains like the rope chain or maybe a
thin wheat chain or just delicate dainty
chains stay away from those and go with
stronger chains for the smaller size for
long-term wear last but not least and I
hate to do it because I love this chain
just will never offer it the herringbone
chain everybody loves that herringbone
like I said I love it too
just not gonna work over time guys they
get these bumps they get these Kinks You
cannot fix there's nothing you can do
about it last year one of our
manufacturers reached out said we have
herringbones do you want to buy some I
said you know what this is my concern I
do not want to sell stuff that's going
to get kinked did you invent a
herringbone that's not gonna Kink he
said just explain to your customers that
this will happen it is what happens when
you buy herringbone it just doesn't work
for me guys and I could put that in
black and white lettering on the website
and clearly state it and make videos and
clearly say to you but if someone buys a
chain and two weeks later it's Kink and
it's dented and it has bumps on it I'm
gonna feel bad and that's not what I'm
in the business to do I feel like my
responsibility is to inform but also
sell quality change the best of my
ability obviously anything can happen to
any chain but overall you want to bring
the best quality product and then
especially if you want to sell long term
and that's what Jaco is we want to offer
chains like the chain I'm wearing around
my neck because I love the fact that 13
years later here it is and that's the
goal that we have at jacoji why we don't
offer any of these chains because I
again I don't want to sell something
someone's going to have a problem with
yes I can make money I can have hollow
rope chains and I would sell them out in
a week I promise you that I could have
any of these trains and sell them but
just would not feel good and that's not
what I'm out to do so that is my
recommendation again it really is how
you're gonna wear them I approach this
like my chain daily wear all the time so
if you plan on that stay away from the
chains we reviewed in this video Drop
count dog comment down below smash that
like button that's it for today's video
