parts of setting up a career mode they
can either fix the gameplay or they can
totally break it depending on if you
fully understand what they're doing I'll
be honest before I researched for this
video I had no idea what 3/4s of these
little toggles actually did I set them
up based on values that I saw in places
like Operation Sports and that was that
hopefully by the end of this video both
you and I will fully understand what
every single slider does how it can
affect your gameplay and how you can
actually enjoy career mode when the AI
either can't cheat or doesn't cheat at
all the first slider we'll talk about
isn't actually a slider it's a setting
that you choose before you start your
game called game speed there's three
options for this slider there's slow
which makes the game very slow there's
normal which is the default setting and
then there's fast which makes every
match of career mode feel like you're
playing ultimate team I think that slow
is probably the closest to real life
speed and it's also the worst to play on
in FIFA if you've been watching this
channel for a year or two you might
remember I did a pentagon challenge save
well the first few years of this save I
actually did on slow game speed and
every single comment was telling me
about how easy the game looked leaving
the game speed on slow makes fast
players way too overpowered even more
than they normally are but it does make
passing and dribbling feel so much more
fun I don't have to describe what normal
will do but fast will make the gameplay
almost the same as Ultimate Team it
increases things like long shots it
makes the players run and turn much
faster and I've talked about this first
because it's usually the first step of
actually setting up the sliders okay so
now let's actually start looking at
sliders and explaining what they do the
first thing you'll see when you go in
the page is Sprint speed and
acceleration and these are actually
pretty straightforward because it simply
changes how fast the players will run
and how fast they will reach their
maximum sprinting speed if you're
thinking the games are too much like
basketball and totally end to end it's
probably best to turn Sprint speed down
by default the most popular sliders
online are just these to be 10 Sprint
speed and 50 acceleration these values
are set like this for the jogging
animations if the acceleration value is
too low then players will start jogging
and not be able to to recover back to
get the ball because the animation
transition from jogging to running is
painfully slow according to Operation
Sports the dribbler will always be at 50
Sprint speed no matter what you set your
Sprint speed value to the defending
player will still use the Sprint speed
value but if you have a CPU that's on 10
and you're R1 dribbling with the ball
you'll just be able to run around
everyone so keep this in mind when
adjusting these sliders okay so that's
probably the two most crucial sliders
you can actually change and see the
difference with straight away they can
totally change the way that the game
feels the next two shot error and pass
error are also very important they're
both sliders that I like to increase and
by increasing these errors it makes
every single shot and every single pass
have a much higher risk of failing on
higher difficulties the AI can be
absolutely lethal from almost anywhere
it doesn't matter if the ball's running
away from them if the ball is bouncing
if it's even behind them their shots
will usually find the top corner by
increasing the shot error and also the
pass error you'll make the AI much more
likely to make mistakes of course if you
do the same for yourself then the games
are going to have more turnovers you'll
have more of a Midfield battle and the
games will also be lower scoring this is
three points that I see a lot of people
wishing the default gameplay had if you
bump shot era up into the 80s and
increased pass error to between 60 and
70 then you'll have slightly more
realistic gameplay the gameplay won't
just look like it's 11 robots playing
football and none of them can make
mistakes instead you'll be playing with
real life humans that do actually make
mistakes when they're under pressure or
in unfortunate positions personally I
like shot speed and pass speed which are
the next two sliders to be exactly where
they are by default Operation Sports
doesn't quite agree with me they
recommend lowering shot speed by one and
pass speed by eight if you reduce pass
speed by this much you'll see a lot more
interceptions happening in their field
while lowering shot speed will make
goalkeeper reflex that much less
important I have seen people have say
the exact opposite is what they prefer
if you want less interceptions and the
ball to be pinging around much faster
than a player can run then you should
probably increase the pass speed instead
if you want the goalkeepers to save less
shots or if you want to score more shots
from outside the box then go into your
sliders and increase the stat for shot
speed okay next up we're going to look
at the two injury sliders we have injury
frequency and injury severity severity
determines how long a player will be out
for if they do get injured while
frequency will change the amount of how
many injuries you'll get in game this
won't affect things like training
injuries or anything like that this
slider will only just the amount of
players that get injured actually on the
pitch if you increase the frequency and
lower the severity I think this is
probably the most realistic combination
that's also exactly what Operation
Sports will suggest so move injury
frequency up to around 85 but bring
severity down to 25 this will give a lot
of very small knocks and pulls where
players have to go off the pitch but
they're fit again in 3 or 4 days just
like we have in real life I've used
these exact same values the entire time
I've played fc24 career mode and I'll
tell you every season you get two or
three injuries where you'll have someone
out for one or two months you'll get
about a dozen injuries where someone
will miss two or three games and you'll
get another dozen injuries where someone
might miss a few days so maybe one or
two matches at the very most I think
this definitely helps for career mode
because you'll end up rotating a squad
more and giving players a chance that
you definitely wouldn't normally use
okay so now let's get on to the
defensive sliders marking is how closely
a player will get marked on higher
difficulties the AI can be very
aggressive with this so you don't really
have too much space to pass the ball if
this is the only difficulty you're
having by going up a difficulty you
should probably lower the marking slider
and slowly raise it back up to 50 if you
think the AI is too difficult if you're
the opposite and you think the AI is
giving you too much space instead
increase it or maybe consider actually
just increasing the difficulty because I
do think the AI does get a lot better at
marking the higher difficulty you go I
think run frequency is also quite
self-explanatory increasing the slider
makes more runs happen but it does also
make the AI run out of position and can
make things very easy for counterattacks
if you lower the Run frequency the AI
won't run forward as more your games
will have less goals and you'll have to
work harder to score the goals you do
get but the AI will be much more solid
defensively Operation Sports suggest
lowering this by 15 to get to 35 and I
think that is a very good value now
finally we'll move on to the defensive
line settings you have line height line
length and line width it might sound
confusing but it's not actually that
difficult it's a good idea to put line
length to about 30 because this causes
constant one-on-one battles where if you
beat one player another player will
charge in and also attempt to take the
ball off you if you leave it at 50 this
rarely happens so it seems like you just
beat one player and you have an acre of
space to run into line height and line
width are much less important but they
do also adjust how high the ai's defense
will sit and how wide they'll fill the
pitch with pullbacks and cutbacks being
by far the best weight to score in FC 24
increasing the sliders to 52 for width
and also moving the defense up to 62
does seem to be a good balance to
prevent this happening the very last
slider we'll look at today is first
touch control which are just how good
the players are at controlling the ball
on FC 24 first touches are
unrealistically good so I would say this
needs to be raised by an absolute ton
somewhere between 80 and 90 seems to
give the best balance for me and
Operation Sports agrees this also gives
the play style first touch plus a lot
more weight when it comes to signing a
player and it can make these players
feel truly special the higher this is
the more random battles and 50/50
tackles and the ball bouncing away
you'll see and as always the more
turnovers in Midfield the more realistic
the score will be and also usually the
game will be more fun as well all the
