we're going to be recapping the 2004

warner brothers war adventure film troy

the movie opens up in thessaly greece a

large army of thousands approaches

another destined for combat the two

armies intend to fight to the last man

so the two generals agamemnon and

menelaus converge in the middle to

discuss the coming battle

agamemnon intends to take the world for

himself and thessaly is the last stop in

greece

in an attempt to lessen that bloodshed

agamemnon offers a one-on-one fight

between their best fighters

augrius a massive brute the size of a

titan and achilles a legendary warrior

who's currently missing from the

battlefield well he's found in the local

village sleeping with some girls clearly

hungover from a night of pleasantries

he ends up making his way to the

battlefield reluctant to fight for his

king but does so anyway with the intent

on saving as many of his soldiers as

possible you can save hundreds of them

and the battle begins oh this guy's big

throw in his spears but you know

achilles takes him out pretty quick

he challenges any other soldier to try

and take his place but clearly he's the

best so that army surrenders under

agamemnon ending the war there on the

spot

elsewhere at the port of sparta troy and

sparta celebrate their unison former

rivaling states who are now allies the

toast is made but unbeknownst to

everyone paris and queen ellen have

become a romantic thing behind

everyone's back

now during the celebrations the two

sneak up stairs to get into a bit of an

entanglement paris gives helen a pearl

necklace and suggests that she runs away

with him awful idea considering the war

it would bring hector his older brother

takes note of his disappearance but you

know allows it to continue

so the next morning paris reveals to his

brother i must show you something

that he's taking helen with him and

despite the love hector has for his

brother he becomes furious with him the

years their father has devoted to bring

waged many will die and it's all because

paris couldn't keep it in his pants

furious he sends his men to ready his

ships and prepare for the war that has

just been declared

in mycenae greece an army has been

assembled determined to burn troy to the

ground and kill queen helen himself king

menelaus asks his brother agamemnon to

go to war with them

as an opportunity to attack troy the

last city standing between him and full

control of the seas however it's not

going to be an easy task hector commands

send the well-respected odysseus king of

odysseus wants achilles by his side and

with the promise of glory odysseus

leaves achilles to ponder his choice

now despite his mother's warnings

achilles embarks on a journey for

immortality forever to be remembered in

the history books

so we're at troy the brothers are

welcomed home with open arms

despite bringing war with them hector

goes and warns his dad about the

approaching danger but it's too late

he's accepted that war is inevitable

so that night paris thinks it's a good

idea to ask helen to run away together

but she warns against it manolauis would

burn troy to the ground regardless if

they left or not

so in the following days the city is

preparing for war

it's only a matter of time before that

massive greek fleet begins showing up on

the horizon panic breaks out the city of

troy prepares for war now leading the

charge is achilles and his mermaid

he commands his cousin to guard the ship

but otherwise intends to take the beach

himself however a killian his men are

met with a barrage of arrows and many

die but they quickly recover and form

themselves into a walking shield to

breach the front lines

inspired by achilles and his men that

greek ship commanded by ajax rose faster

inland to provide their support hector's

doing his best to command his men but

they're overpowered by achilles

they raid the temple of apollo and lure

hector and his men into a trap and now

we have achilles and hector finally

facing off

wanting an audience and to be remembered

for the next thousand years achilles

spares hector with an intent to kill him

later on on a more glorifying stage

so with the battle over achilles and the

men are praised on the beach by the

other warlords and in his quarters the

cousin of hector in paris overseas is

tied up

fearing nothing achilles mocks her god

and ignores her cries for vengeance

and in their conversation achilles

assures her safety and tells her that

all he really wants is glory

in his tent agamemnon is praised with

the spoils of conquest all the kings

praise him for his victory over the

beach of troy despite achilles being the

true victor malaga memnon takes the

opportunity to speak with achilles and

attempts to put him in his place

he claims that history remembers kings

not soldiers

despite achilles being a willing

participant in his war agamemnon still

has a strong distaste for him and in a

show of power he threatens brazis and

achilles has no choice but to let him

have his way but if you don't release

her you'll never see home again

and all this brass show of power has

achilles pretty pissed off at agamemnon

to which the warrior promises to kill

him himself one day

now inside the walls of troy elders of

the city gather to discuss their

strategy for the war and while everyone

remains optimistic

hector remains cautious

in order to prevent more bloodshed paris

announces that he will challenge

menelaus himself for helen's hand and

despite his father and brother's concern

they allow it

so that night hector shares his concerns

with his wife and speaks of the

impressive achilles that struck down his

right hand man well they both fear that

despite paris little challenge war will

ensue regardless and when he goes off to

speak with paris himself he catches

helen trying to leave well she's afraid

that paris is gonna die in the morning

and that all is doomed so in a

last-ditch attempt to right her wrongs

she wanted to go to menelaus and beg for

forgiveness

however hector talks her out of it she's

a princess of troy now and they intend

to protect her to the last man

now in the morning achilles is refusing

to fight for agamemnon he orders that

his men stay until agamemnon begs him

for his help

with both armies ready troy stands ready

at the gates while the greek army

marches in from the distance the greek

armies are massive and an ocean of

soldiers covered the horizon with the

kings of the greek leading the way

agamemnon offers them one last chance to

surrender but hector stands brave in the

face of adversity

the winner takes helen home

paris challenges menelaus and after some

pushback from magamenon the challenge is

accepted

so army standing at the ready two men

making their way to the middle ready to

fight to the death achilles and his men

are watching from a distance

outmatched in both size and experience

paris fights for his life

but ultimately gets outclassed by his

opponent

and knowing that he's lost peres crawls

to his brother clinging for dear life

the pact is broken and menelaus urges

hector to let him kill paris

he's dishonored himself and deserves

death well hector's not letting this

happen and defends his brother by

killing minnellas well that caused war

to break out and the armies of greece

charge forward into battle achilles and

his men are the only ones that notice

agamemnon's poor battle strategy the

army gets too close to the walls and a

shower of arrows kills a lot of them

ajax and hector find themselves in

battle but hector comes out victorious

in the end

now this is the straw that breaks the

camel's back the army of troy begins to

overpower the greeks and push them back

if it weren't for odysseus agamemnon

would have led his army to intimate

defeat

well the greeks retreat and hector

displays his superior leadership by

showing patience and now leading his

army into the range of greek archers

troy has won the day

now that night the dead are gathered and

burned

helen's tending to paris but he's

sulking in shame well he's no brave

warrior and she knows that her now dead

husband was a warrior but you know

that's not what she wants she wants a

lover she wants paris

and in the greek camp agamemnon with his

generals discussing on what they're

going to do

with his brother dead there's no reason

to continue fighting for helen the

morale of the men are low and they need

achilles and his men odysseus begs

agamemnon to make amends but he still

fears achilles

i'll talk to him

now the girl whom achilles was so fond

of has been given to the men and they

intend to take advantage of her but

achilles comes to the rescue and saves

her from brutish hands he takes her to

his tent where he feeds and cleans her

up that night though she attempts to

kill achilles in his sleep but can't

find the courage to do so

instead they make love and break her

oath of abstinence

now in the morning achilles ready's the

men to leave her home but odysseus begs

for him to stay and help them fight in

the walls of troy hector urges caution

but the elders urge a final push

motivated by the promises of victory

king priyam agrees to charge into battle

at daybreak

so early morning the next day the

trojans rained fire on the greek camp

they've gained an edge with their

surprise attack and the armies of troy

march forward ready to decimate the last

of the greek soldiers

and just as hector feared the surprise

attack has unified the greeks and has

achilles and his men joining the fight

and the third day of war starts with

bloodshed on both sides greeks trojans

and in the midst of the battle hector

and achilles face off once again

this time hector seems to have the upper

hand he slits achilles his throat and

both armies are stunned by his victory

in the lull of battle hector unmasks

achilles and it's revealed that it was

actually his cousin patrick list that

was slain

now shocked by this discovery both

armies decide to you know

call it a day

it was his cousin

oh with patrick let's dad odysseus notes

that the war is never going to end now

when the myrmidon return to camp they

explained to achilles how they thought

patroclus was him and despite their

intention to sail home today they

mistakenly went to war behind patroclus

i don't think achilles is taking the

news so well and even brazil's can't

seem to comfort him

now that night knowing that he's most

likely in spite of achilles hector shows

his wife an escape route within the

walls of troy

he's fully expecting the greek armies to

breach those walls with a vengeance the

death of patroclus has reignited the war

and everyone knows it so in the morning

both hector and achilles ready

themselves for war

alone achilles writing for the walls of

troy where he intends to single-handedly

take revenge

now at the walls achille challenges

hector to a duel

and fearing his opponent hector says his

final goodbyes before a facing killies

in a duel to the death before this

happens hector offers a final pact and

wishing to take no part in that pact

achilles assures him that he will die

tonight so the two begin their fight and

achilles only seems to have a slight

edge over the prince

proven to be a better warrior than most

hector puts up a great fight against him

but ultimately loses

and what does achilles do well he takes

that body and straps it to the carriage

dragging him back to camp for everyone

to watch and they all watch in horror as

their beloved prince is carted off in

the distance

that night persis asks achilles when

will it all end and he tells her that it

never will

later we watch king prime visit achilles

in his tent and beg for the return of

hector's body oh he's begging for mercy

let me wash his body

with some slight hesitation achilles

allows it

kind of distraught with what he's done

in all the battles he's fought achilles

cries over hector's body he assures king

priam that hector was the best he's ever

fought and he gives him the respect he

deserves by allowing priyam to give him

proper time to mourn and honor the dead

prince

well that agreement pissed off agamemnon

and fearing the loss of more men

odysseus begins to plot a scheme to end

the war and achilles sends the rest of

his men home

12 days pass by and the trojans find

that the greeks have left the beach in

their wake they've left a wooden horse

so thinking it's a gift to the gods the

trojans bring this into their city as a

sign of their victory despite paris's

wishes to burn it little do they know

odysseus and his men are inside waiting

for an opportunity to strike so the

greeks haven't left but rather relocated

into hiding

that night odysseus and his boys come

out of hiding and open the gates for the

greek army lying in wait

and now the city of troy becomes quickly

overrun greek soldiers begin to burn

that city down achilles among them

however his only goal is to find bersis

the royal family begin to flee the city

sending helen and hector's family

through the tunnels paris on the other

hand decides to stay and gets his father

amber seeds to safety the soldiers of

troy fight to the last man and king

prime gets killed in the chaos

rasis is found by agamemnon

and the power hungry king mocks her and

her gods dropping his guard in the

process she takes the opportunity to

kill him on the spot finally putting his

reign to an end

the guards attempt to kill her but she's

then saved by achilles well their

reunion is short-lived when paris comes

for bersis and despite her pleas

achilles

is shot in his heel he tries hard to

fight back but is slowed by the arrow in

his foot and he's ultimately shot to

death

the couple say their final goodbyes and

paris and percy's disappearance of the

night troy has fallen kings are dead

and only odysseus remains to tell the

tale of legendary achilles
