hi everyone I'm darium today we will
crochet a baby blanket this pattern is
not very complicated so I think even
beginner could make it
[Music]
welcome back to Daria crochet live on
this channel I post knitting and crochet
lessons simple and not so simple
tutorials on how to make different
knitting and crochet projects so if any
of that interests you please subscribe
to my channel and if you see value in
this video make sure you're giving me
thumbs up it really makes a huge
difference and all the link I'm
mentioning in this video you can find in
the description box below okay let's
jump into it first of all let's talk
about all the materials and tools that
you will need for this project uh let's
talk about the yarn I decided to go with
a 100 acrylic yarn because it's very
very soft and it would be uh like I'm
sure that would be very good for the
babies so in my local yarn store I found
this
um yarn it's from the company King call
it's called cherish baby double knitting
uh the content is 100 low peeling
acrylic yarn and this is 100 gram ball
and it goes um and there are 240 meters
or 262 yards
so
um they recommend to use four millimeter
or us six needles uh about the same size
could be good for the crochet hook so I
will take four millimeter crochet hook
this is exactly what I have here uh and
I think I will need about four balls of
this yarn so 400 gram
um
would be more than enough for this baby
blanket I don't want my baby blanket to
be huge uh soft like it would be good
for the newborns except for the
uh yarn and hook I will need uh I will
need scissors I will need tapestry
needle to weave in and at the very very
end and that's it I don't need anything
else okay let's start crocheting so for
this pattern you need to make a
foundation chain and the total number of
the stitches should be divided by two
plus three stitches I will uh make
132 stitches so in every row I'll have
132 and I need to add three more 132
plus 3 so that would be 135 this is my
original Foundation chain number so
let's start with the uh slip knot
so I hold my uh I make a loop like U
shape like this insert my right finger
index finger into that Loop and twirl it
then insert my thumb into that Loop and
now I need to catch the working yarn the
one that is going to the ball with my
thumb and index finger after that my
right hand will pull both ends to create
a knot
insert your hook into this Loop
hold everything in crocheting position
and now we are ready to crochet so I
need to make 135 chains so make a yarn
over and pull it through
yarn over pull them through so that's
two stitches
work like this until you will have your
desired number of stitches if you follow
my instructions so that should be 135
when you have your foundation chain it's
time to make the row number one so for
the first row you need to skip one two
three stitches and you will insert your
hook into the fourth one and we will do
a double crochet into that Stitch so
make a yarn over insert your hook into
the first into the fourth Stitch
pull the working yarn through have three
loops on the hook yarn over pull through
two yarn over pull through two so after
that we need to make another double
crochet into the same space so make it
yarn over insert your hook into the same
Stitch and make another double crochet
over there
then Skip One Stitch so I'm gonna skip
this and I will do another increase so
two double crochet into the second
Stitch so Skip One and insert my hook
into the next one making my first double
crochet
and then make in second double crochet
into the same Stitch and you should work
like this to the very end of this row
at the end of this row you need to have
just one chain left and you need to make
just one
double crochet so don't skip anything
after the last increase
make the last double crochet into the
last chain
then you need to chain one that would be
your turning chain turn your work like
you're turning a page In A Book Like
This
in this case the Turning chain will not
be twisted and it will be easy for you
to see where to insert your hook next
so skip the Turning chain and insert
your hook into the next Stitch and make
a single crochet so insert your hook
catch the yarn pull it through have two
loops on the hook yarn over pull through
two then make one chain
and after that we will make another
single crochet but the question is where
to insert our hooks you see these two
bars they make like a like a cluster
okay let's call them clusters so you
skip this cluster and this is another
cluster second one so you need to insert
your hook into this big hole that is
between these two clusters right into
the middle
catch the yarn pull through have two
loops on the hook yarn over pull through
two
and now you repeat this
chain one
and one single crochet but you insert
your hook uh between these two clusters
right into this big hole and you repeat
this to the end of the row
I'm at the end of the second row so I
have the last cluster and three chains
uh that was at the beginning the first
row so I'm doing my last chain and the
last single crochet will go between
these three chains and the first cluster
right into this big hole
this is what you should have at the end
of the second row then in the third row
you start with chain one turn your work
like you're turning a page in a book
and then you need to make one single
crochet into the first Stitch skip the
Turning chain and go into the first
Stitch and make the first single crochet
then insert your hook into this hole
under the chain from the previous row so
don't insert your hook into the chain go
right under the chain over there and
make a single crochet
then make chain one
skip the single crochet from the
previous row and insert your hook again
into the same uh Stitch like under this
the chain
if you stretch it you will see better
it's this space right under the chain
and again you work like this to the end
of the row chain one
single crochet under the chain
don't work too tight because that's a
blanket we don't want it to be very
stiff
chain one and single crochet under the
chain
work like this to the end at the end of
this row I'm making my last single
crochet under the chain space
and I have just one single crochet left
and I will do another single crochet
into that Stitch
this is what you should have after make
it three rows
uh next row you start with chain one
turn your work like turning a page in a
book skip this turning chain and start
it from the next Stitch
make a single crochet
then chain one
skip the single crochet and make a
single crochet into the space that is
under the chain from the previous row so
you repeat exactly the same thing it's
just the beginning of the row is a
little bit different but you repeat
previous row
work like this to the end
at the end of this row I'm making my
last chain and the last single crochet
into the last Stitch
that's what you should have at the End
of the Roll form so how to count your
rows first row was the row with this
double crochet it's like very tall then
this V showing me the second row third
and fourth so this is only four row
repeat pattern but let me show you how
you start this uh double crochet row
because it's a little bit different from
the very first row so you start with
three turning chains so make it three
chains turn your work
now we need to make this cluster and you
will insert your hook so you will skip
the single crochet and you will insert
your hook right into right into this
hole under the chain the first chain and
you make your cluster over there so you
make a first double crochet
and then your second double crochet into
the same Stitch
then you skip the single crochet and you
will make another two double crochet
over here under the
chain space
first one and second into the same hole
and that's it you work like this to the
very very end and I'll see you there
at the end of this row I'm making my
last cluster
into the last
space
but I will have one more Stitch
so I have a single crochet over here and
I'm making last double crochet just one
into this single crochet
and this is what you should have at the
end
so you repeat this Row one two three and
four
to the very end and how to understand
when do you need to stop so first
measure your
width of the blanket and it should be
square so of course if you want to make
it Square you can make it rectangular as
well so if you want to make it Square so
let's say the width would be 65
centimeters that's what I'm going for so
that means the length should be around
65 centimeters as well
and then you should stop and I'll see
you over there and we will do a border
together
now I want to show you what to do when
you finish uh one ball and you need to
attach another one so this pattern is
very very good
um and it would be very easy to give in
your ends later so it doesn't matter
where you stop in the middle of the row
like me right now the only thing that I
want you to do please leave longer and
like like this maybe a 50 centimeter 30
centimeters long because that would be
comfortable to weave in and with the
tapestry needle later so and then
I take my new yarn so this is the new
ball uh leave again longer and
don't make any knots
yet so then I dropped the old yarn this
is the old yarn I just drop it and I
hold the new yarn like it's my new
um
working yarn and I start working with
the new yarn
I work in my pattern
yay
like this
and after I finish couple stitches
let's say that's enough then I go to
this wrong side and I will make a double
knot
um
if you're working with different yarn
some Yarns they don't look nice with
double knots but I think that would be
okay and after that at the very end I
will show you how to weave in ants and
it's very comfortable to do when you
have a long ends and then just keep
working with the new uh new ball
and now it's your new working yarn
okay let me show you what I did so far
so I I made
um a square as as Square as possible I
finished my
um I finished 27 repeats so my repeat
start with one double crochet row and
then three rows of single crochet so I
finished 27 of them and then
because I didn't I want to I didn't want
to finish with the uh single crochet
roll I didn't I want to finish with the
double crochet row so that's why I added
one more row kind of started the next
repeat uh and I swapped right away
okay right now I'm ready to start
working on the edge so we will do a
little border it will not be very uh
white border I decided to do a little
um
uh scallops but before doing that we
need to make one round so I will work
all around the square and we'll be uh
and come back to this point
uh so when you work along this Edge it's
very easy you just need to do one stitch
uh in like we will do a row of single
crochet so you will do one stitch in
every double crochet from the from this
row when you'll be uh when you work
along uh the beginning row it's kind of
the same idea so you see uh over the
double crochet you have one hole and you
will do your one single crochet there
and then uh in front of the next one you
will do another single crochet so that's
these two sides are very easy but this
side is a little bit tricky this is
because we don't have chains over here
okay let's start let's start working on
it together
okay let's start working on it together
so first thing that we need to do we
need to chain one and then in every
corner you will do three single crochet
uh I will start with just
one single crochet over here but when
I'll come back to this point I will make
two more over there and then I'll do
slip stitch into the first one but that
would be at the end then along the row
of double crochet I need to make two uh
the uh two single crochet but I already
did one so now I'm making just another
one insert your hook somewhere it's good
if you'll have two loops on your hook
but if not that's okay
uh along the one single crochet row and
we have three rows like that you need to
make three single crochet so just
somewhere find a hole that is that you
feel is the next one
uh this is two and then this is three
and you work like that but you should
count how many stitches you have I count
it and at the on the last row I have 130
stitches uh so I need to have the same
amount on both of my sides like in all
of my fourth sides and if I'll work like
this if I'll keep doing two stitches on
double crochet and three stitches on
every single crochet row so on my repeat
I will have five stitches
and at the end I will end up with 137
which I don't want so that's why
somewhere
um at some spots I need to miss uh seven
stitches so for example let's let's do
it here here on the double crochet I'll
do just one stitch
and then three stitches on the three
single crochet rows one
two
and three
so I missed once
uh and then I keep working like that to
the end of this side uh and uh before
before moving further I need to count
and I should have 130 stitches so
starting from this Stitch one two three
four five six seven eight nine so I I
made nine but I need to end up with 130
stitches okay let me show you what you
need to do on every corner so I'm doing
my last single crochet
in this
space
but remember I told you that you need to
make three single crochet in every uh
corner so into the same hole I'm doing
two more stitches this is the second one
and this is the third one
okay so now I already used the first uh
the first Stitch and I'm going into the
next one and do it next single crochet
uh now don't count this uh middle Stitch
starting from this Stitch from the
second one you can even put a marker and
go into the next uh Corner in total you
again you're supposed to have
130 stitches so adjust it as you go
on the next corner I also need to make
three stitches three single crochet into
the same hole and then repeat the same
thing that we were doing on the side so
three uh three single crochet along
three single crochet rows and two single
crochet along the uh double crochet row
but we need to adjust so we will have
100 30 stitches then on the corner
please make three single crochet again
and come back to the beginning spot and
I'll see you over there
okay I'm at the very very end of my
round and I need to make last two
stitches and I'm gonna do them into the
same hole where my first single crochet
was made so I'm doing my first and
second single crochet over there and now
I need to make a slip stitch into the
first single crochet under both Loops
like this uh in order to close the round
okay let's do the last round which is a
little shells this is the decorative
round and it is optional if you want you
can do it if you don't you can skip this
step and you also can change the color
at this point so that would be very very
nice
edging okay make a yarn over then skip
the next Stitch and insert your hook
into the second Stitch from the hook and
make double crochet
after that you need to make
put four more double crochet into the
same hole so stretch your work find the
same hole again and make uh four more
double crochet so in total it will be uh
five double crochet
okay this is my last double crochet
check that you have five oh actually
yeah one two three four five then skip
the next Stitch and into the second one
make a slip stitch
now you need to repeat it to to the end
and that would be like this slip stitch
so you're doing two slip stitches next
to each other skip the next space
and then uh five double crochet into the
second Stitch from the hook
one
two
three
four
and five
then skip next Stitch and make a slip
stitch into the next one and slip stitch
into the next one this is what you
supposed to have so work like this to
the end of this side here at the corner
I finished my last shell my last five a
double crochet into the same Stitch then
I'm skipping the next space and doing
the uh
doing a slip stitch and as you can see I
already reached these three single
crochet that I was doing into the corner
into the uh corner so all three of them
will be slip stitches so I'm doing my
first slip stitch then a slip stitch
into the corner and next slip stitch and
after that I can keep working into the
same pattern again along this the other
side so I just wanted to show you what
to do on the corner so skip next space
and do five double crochet into the
second Stitch after the hook
after that skip next Stitch and do two
slip stitches one and
too and this is how the corner will look
like it's more like a straight straight
edge keep working like this all around
uh to the first
to the beginning of the row then you
will need to fasten off Vivian all the
ends and that's it the baby blanket
would be
done all right I almost finished so this
is my last five double crochets keeping
the Stitch and doing my one slip stitch
and another slip stitch
and that's it that would be the last one
so now I need to cut the yarn
leave a little bit longer and so it will
be easy for you to give it in and fasten
off so pull this in through the
remaining Loop like that
after that you need to take tapestry
needle
pull it through
and weave in this and the same way
you're gonna give in all the ends that
you that you'll have on on this blanket
so find any Loop that is very close to
the working yarn like this one insert
your needle under that Loop and pull it
through
then find another loop and
pull your needle through like that
keep weaving in a little bit more change
directions
okay I think that's enough then you can
cut the excess yarn be careful don't cut
the crocheting fabric
okay hide the same way all other ends
after that you can wash the blanket
please read carefully the washing care
instructions
uh and that's it the blanken is ready
all right my friends that's it that I
wanted to show you today thank you so
