What did the speaker learn from observing the young YouTuber named Patrick?
-The speaker learned that there are some really smart and determined young people out there who are putting in effort to improve themselves, and that they are capable of achieving success at a young age.
What is the speaker's advice for young people who are not interested in the typical 'fun' activities and want to focus on self-improvement?
-The speaker advises them to work harder than everyone else, to learn how to learn and work independently, and to not be discouraged by the idea of hard work as it is the key to achieving results.
Why does the speaker believe that working hard from a young age is beneficial?
-The speaker believes that working hard from a young age allows individuals to achieve 'noob gains' and progress quickly because the competition is less intense, and it sets a strong foundation for further success.
What does the speaker consider the first barrier to success?
-The first barrier to success, according to the speaker, is simply doing the work more than everyone else. This means putting in the effort to learn and work without relying on external motivation or authority figures.
How does the speaker define 'hard work' in the context of self-improvement?
-The speaker defines hard work as not just the number of hours spent on a task, but the consistent effort over time, even if it's spread out, and the willingness to work alone without external pressure.
What is the actionable step the speaker suggests for young people to push themselves and avoid burnout?
-The speaker suggests that young people should work at an intensity level that challenges them, understanding that they can recover quickly from burnout due to their age, and use this to their advantage to get ahead.
Why does the speaker emphasize the importance of taking one's own advice?
-The speaker emphasizes this because he believes that if individuals are good at giving advice to others, they should also be able to take their own advice, as they are the ones who genuinely want the best for themselves.

-The speaker questions the common advice to 'enjoy your youth' by playing video games and watching TikTok, suggesting that this is not true enjoyment but rather stimulation. He suggests that young people should define what 'enjoy' means to them and focus on making progress and being in a state of flow, which he considers true enjoyment.
What is the speaker's view on the relationship between happiness and focus?
-The speaker views focus and being in a flow state as the optimal state of being, which leads to happiness. He suggests that happiness is a byproduct of doing focused work that one enjoys, rather than something to be chased directly.
What advice does the speaker give about taking action and making progress, especially for young people?
-The speaker advises young people to take advantage of their time and make as much progress as possible, using the example of the young YouTuber Patrick to illustrate the potential for early success.
What does the speaker mean by 'chasing the puck' and how does it relate to the concept of happiness?
-The 'chasing the puck' analogy refers to the idea of constantly seeking happiness, which is always moving and elusive. The speaker suggests that instead of chasing happiness, one should focus on achieving a flow state, which will naturally bring happiness.
Outlines
👦 Embracing Youthful Drive for Self-Improvement
The speaker recounts a personal experience of encountering a 12-year-old self-improvement enthusiast during a casual community call. This encounter sparked a realization about the potential of young individuals to be highly determined and proactive in their personal development. The speaker addresses the younger audience directly, offering candid advice that reflects on the importance of hard work, learning to learn, and the necessity of pushing oneself beyond perceived limits. The narrative emphasizes the idea that success is achieved by outworking others and highlights the concept of 'noob gains' as a stepping stone to further progress. The speaker also touches on the importance of working smart once the initial threshold of hard work is surpassed.
🤔 The Paradox of Self-Advice and Third-Person Perspective
This paragraph delves into the speaker's personal struggle with taking his own advice, a common issue among individuals who resist authority. The speaker suggests that one should listen to their own advice, as they are the most reliable advocate for their own interests. The concept of self-reflection is introduced, proposing that individuals consider what a smarter or more disciplined version of themselves would do. The speaker also discusses the value of observing one's actions from a third-person perspective to gain clarity and objectivity, which can simplify decision-making and reduce the influence of emotions on judgment. The narrative challenges the conventional notion of 'enjoying youth' by questioning what it truly means and advocating for a more productive approach to life's early stages.
🚀 Leveraging Youth as a Catalyst for Success
The final paragraph focuses on the unique advantage of youth—the abundance of time to learn and grow. The speaker uses the example of a young YouTuber named Patrick to illustrate how early starts in endeavors like content creation can lead to significant achievements at a young age. The narrative encourages young viewers to make the most of their time, emphasizing that the gap between their current selves and their future potential is vast. The speaker also reflects on the benefits of hard work and the pursuit of a 'flow state' as a source of happiness, rather than seeking immediate gratification through leisure activities. The conclusion offers a call to action for the young audience to focus on progress and to take advantage of the wisdom and experiences shared by those who have come before them.

Transcripts
two three months ago I was on a call in
my private Community not even a coaching
call just a normal like chill call
getting to know people and one guy said
oh I'm 12 and aon's quite taken back
because that's pretty young to be into
self-improvement and to know about
self-improvement and also he didn't
really look 12 he looks like 14 15 so he
might be watching as well what's good
Patrick and so that made me realize and
you know seeing his YouTube videos he's
a YouTuber as well seeing the effort
that he's putting in getting to know him
throughout the calls and giving feedback
on his videos there are some really
smart determined 12-year-olds out there
so whilst most people say Enjoy your
youth go do the fun stuff go party do
whatever I know there are some people
younger people in my audience that don't
want that and so this video is for them
this video is for you this is brutally
honest advice I would give to my younger
12-year-old self my younger less
productive my younger less productive
less successful
12y my younger less successful less
productive no
[ __ ] number one you're not working as
hard as you could be the first year in
my self-improvement was just learning
how to learn then after I could learn I
was learning how to work and I had to
learn how to work alone I was so used to
having a teacher or authority figure
giving me the deadlines but on YouTube
and my own you know your own
self-improve that's why it's called
self-improvement it's by yourself no
one's going to scream at me or give me
the attention if I don't upload a weekly
video it's just that I won't achieve the
success that I want which is an even
worse punishment and I thought like
doing 6 hours or 7 hours on one video
was hard work but that 6 hours or 7
hours will spread over an entire month
that's not hard work the real lesson
here is the first barrier to success is
just doing the work more than everyone
else from like zero to $2,000 $3,000 a
month that's just work to get Noob gains
it's just work to go from a d student to
a B+ student it's just work and then
once you're there once you're at this
threshold and you want to go even
further okay now you have to work hard
but also work smart because the people
you know the A+ students they're not
just working hard they're working hard
plus their parents are like rich and
they can send them to tuition and extra
classes so they have extra support to
beat 90% of people is really easy you
just need to work hard but once you're
in the top 10% that's when it gets super
difficult it's like walking through like
thick snow making progress even just a
little step is quite hard but before
that bro if you just work more than
everyone else you achieve results by
default even if you're doing it un
optimally like for example the skinny
kid who just does any routine whether
it's bro bro split or push pull legs or
upper lower or full body after a year of
just doing any of them and he sticks to
it for a year he'll get the noob gains
eventually and then afterwards okay now
you have to you want to compete you want
to get to the top 10% and onwards again
it's going to be hard cuz those people
out there they already have good
genetics look like the average Japanese
high schooler in every single anime just
[ __ ] jacked so to beat those people
that's hard but everyone before that if
you just stick to it longer than most
people you just beat most people by
default so this is the actionable step
if you only work at 5 out of 10
intensity that means you'll always stay
at 5 out of 10 intensity you'll never
grow the capacity to go higher because
you never push yourself and so now that
you're young this is the perfect time to
push yourself a lot of people your age
will be very fearful of burnout but now
that you're young work super hard okay
you burn out W WP you're young you can
just recover it takes like one or two
days to recover from burnout because
you're young like for me I know that if
I burn out after one weekend of recover
recing and just relaxing a little bit
and taking time off I'll be back to Max
Capacity I'll be back in the game since
you can recover quickly take advantage
of that and get ahead number two take
your own advice for me I don't know why
but as a kid I would be really good at
giving advice other people but when it
comes to taking it I'll be like no and
it's probably because I don't like
listening to Authority so the one person
that you should listen to if you like me
and you don't like Authority listen to
yourself because yourself is the only
person in the world who is on your side
always who genuinely wants the best for
you other than like your mom right it's
just you and your mom that's the only
people that will always always believe
in you and always always be on your side
if you did the things that you know you
should be doing you'd probably be like
50 steps ahead already so here are two
questions what would the version of you
who's 10 times smarter do do that and
you become him what would the version of
you who 10 times more disciplined do do
that and become him I find this concept
so interesting because if you saw
yourself from a third person perspective
if you just press like you know in
Minecraft you can press F5 and then you
see yourself from a different
perspective you would judge yourself way
easier like in the moment where you're
about to relapse on noof fap or you're
about to grab the junk food you're
consumed by the addiction you're
consumed by the impulse and the urges
but if you took a step back and you just
looked at yourself from a third person's
perspective it becomes so clear like
okay don't do that when you're in a
third person perspective you don't have
any emotions clouding your judgment you
see it just totally logically and that's
why we are so good at giving advice but
not good at taking advice that's also
why when you ask for procrastination
advice like oh guys I can't do this work
how do I do it most people just say just
do it bro because from a third person
from a third person perspective that's
really all there is to do just do it in
your perspective you see it as this big
scary thing that you don't want to do
because it's like 50% of your grade and
you're not equipped to do it and it's
too much work and if you fail your whole
life is in Ruins but from a third person
perspective if it's just a piece of work
that you are not doing and the only way
you get to doing it is by doing it same
thing with like guys how do I approach a
girl just walk up to her guys how do I
start the gym what if I walk into the
gym that I do bench press then I drop
the weight then it lands on my stomach
and I [ __ ] myself just start and so if
you were your own life coach what would
you say to yourself you could split your
brain into two right now one side is
your life coach and since we a lot
better at giving advice give yourself
advice almost pretend like you're a
different person
cuz the other side is the one that tells
you to watch porn the other side is the
one that tells you to cheat on your diet
the other side is the one that wastes
years of your life so you are both the
angel and devil on your shoulder you
just have to choose who you listen to
and finally you will have much more fun
I feel like if a normal person who isn't
on self-improvement or isn't like me
watches this video they'll be like oh
this is promoting toxic work culture or
something but honestly bro working is
really fun I don't know what people are
talking about most people say Enjoy your
Youth and like yeah I think you should
enjoy your youth enjoy your life but
what does that mean exactly you know
Define enjoy because a lot of the time
when people say Enjoy they just mean oh
yeah I play video games watch Tik Tok
but that's not really enjoying your
youth that's just stimulating your Youth
and the thing is I tried that I did that
for 16 years and after enjoying my
youth I wasn't as successful as I wanted
to be nor as happy as I wanted to be and
I when I started doing work and doing
like the toxic work culture thing that's
when I became a lot happier and a lot
more successful and productive the only
time that I started feeling alive was
when I started making progress and the
thing is the gap between you and who you
used to be is going to grow and the gap
between you and your friends are also
going to grow and I think about the
friends that I used to have and after 6
months or 12 months they're relatively
in the same position in life yeah they
follow the conventional advice of enjoy
your youth so would I trade my position
for theirs you know as a wise man once
said [ __ ] no oh yeah man i' rather have
watched an extra 10,000 hours of Tik Tok
and stuff you know fulfilling every
single child's dream of becoming a
YouTuber yeah that sounds like a blast
bro give me some of that blast blasted
straight in my MTH and the thing is if
you're young which is who I'm making
this video for you have so much more
time to see the graph like exponentially
increase let think about the guy that I
was talking about in the beginning of
this video Patrick right he's 12 and
he's starting
YouTube if he follows my advice and he
takes twice as long as me to reach 100K
Subs so I I reach 100K Subs in about 6
months if it takes twice as long meaning
one year he's going to be 13 when he has
100K Subs if it takes four times as long
it's going to be uh 14 when he reaches
100K Subs 14 years old at 100K Subs what
was I doing at 14 I didn't even start
YouTube yet and I wouldn't be for
another 2 years you have time on your
side that is the one thing you have
above everyone else you know like Warren
Buffett has a lot more assets than me
right Warren Buffett has more money more
experience more connections more
everything but I have like 70 something
years over him it's not just that he's
12 and he has like six years over me
it's that he can learn from me in the
same way it's not just that I have 7
years over Warren Buffett is that Warren
Buffett didn't have Warren Buffett to
learn from but I do that's another
advantage that's one of the only things
that young people have so use it wisely
so to conclude yes have fun enjoy your
youth but what do you actually enjoy
doing do you enjoy making progress or
enjoy indulging because for me I don't
remember those days where I woke up and
I didn't do much I just scrolled on
social media and I went back to bed and
that day didn't even add up to anything
I do remember the days when I woke up
and I worked hard the reason for that is
simply because Flow State meaning being
focused is the optimal state that we can
be in it's like the happiest State we
can be in so there's a little bit of
insight a little a little bonus right a
little insight into my
philosophy I don't chase happiness I
just Chase focus and Flow State so being
focused on work that I like to do is my
new definition of Happiness so for me
happiness is like that little bonus
thing that I get after doing the harder
work the focused work I have this nice
quote don't go to where the puck is but
where the Pu is going to be so this is
like in hockey right when you hit the
puck the puck goes if you go to where
the puck is by the time you get there
the puck has already moved to somewhere
else so a lot of people they chase
happiness they chase the puck but if
you're going to where the puck is you're
never going to get it you go there again
it's moved you go there again it's moved
it's constantly moving you'll never get
it so instead of chasing happiness if I
just Chase Flow State which is the
things that make me Focus make my mind
quieten down and I really like lock
in I get happiness
regardless so yes to 12-year-old me
enjoy your youth but don't lie you don't
enjoy playing video games you enjoy
making progress so if you're going to
enjoy your youth make as much progress
as possible take
action that's an extra tip got to always
Flex on
them also I don't know if you Noti this
but no hands like the mic I have a
tissue box that I just put my mic on now
so I don't have
to you it's crazy you know high high
production quality over here at Rough
Studios so yeah really quick if you like
my advice and you want more go click the
first link in the description that's my

these and that's also where uh I spoke
to that 12-year-old that became the
inspiration for
this video that you're watching right
now so yeah if you are interested in
that or you're curious go click the
first link description if not that's
completely fine because all the videos
will still be on YouTube still for free
for your value as always give me kiss
