in these incidents proactive measures

were taken most are only outed after

it's too late in 2017 on a cold winter

night a neighborhood in Gwinnett County

was awoken by a series of frantic knocks

they opened the door to find and

intoxicated 16 year old with her pants

around her ankles the girl had been

dropped off by 58 year old abdulli jagny

jagney was assigned to pick her up at a

local bar where she and other teens had

been underage drinking he was later

charged and thrown in jail for violating

a minor investigators then issued a

request for other potential victims to

step forward in some instances these

types of criminals aren't caught for

their first offense one such occurrence

was the case of Alfonso Alarcon Nunes

Alfonso was an illegal immigrant who

deported himself back to Mexico in 2005.

yet he returned to the U.S years later

to live in California this is important

as the state issues driver's licenses

regardless of legal status two years

after obtaining his license he applied

for Uber he registered under an alias

disguising himself as Bruno Diaz in

spite of all this the account was

approved marking the beginning of a

crime spree throughout 2017. he targeted

Young intoxicated women of both on and

off the clock the latter was by parking

in front of bars and restaurants posing

as their designated driver Alfonso drove

victims home before violating them and

stealing belongings that included

jewelry cell phones and computers

because of the pseudonym which extended

to his venmo it was difficult to

identify the driver at first in the end

it was DNA that led to the man's arrest

over accusations from five different

girls he was convicted in 2021 and

sentenced to 54 years in prison by this

point it's clear that these stories are

shockingly common Uber has released two

safety reports for the periods of

2017-2018 and 2019-2020 the company's

first disclosure revealed a nearly 6 000

allegations involving its rides that

lowered to the still concerning number

of almost four thousand the year 2020

alone accounted for 141 cases of forced

penetration and 998 cases of sexual

assault as a result several women have

sued over their inadequate background

checks one pointed out that the

perpetrator's criminal record could be

found within minutes this culminated in

2020 following the release of the second

safety report on July 13th the class

action lawsuit was filed in San

Francisco by the law firm Slater Slater

Shulman as early as 2014 Uber became

aware that its drivers were assaulting

passengers nevertheless in the eight

years since their drivers have continued

to attack passengers that includes the

plaintiffs who claims were alleged in

today's action the company responded in

a press statement there is nothing more

important than safety which is why Uber

has built new safety features

established survivor-centric policies

and been more transparent about serious

incidents while the firm claims to be

representing at least 550 women with

cases they have only filed 12 to dates

they have not been able to provide any

critical incident details for us to

identify a connection to the Uber

platform as of the time of writing the

conclusion of this development remains

to be seen

so far we've covered several categories

of deranged ride share drivers from

seasoned Crooks to serial offenders it

is frightening how often they end up

behind the wheel yet without a doubt

there is one individual that takes the

title for the worst because unlike the

other stories discussed today it

tragically ends in Bloodshed Jason Brian

Dalton used to be known as a good family

man he lived in Cooper Township Michigan

with his wife and two children the 45

year old was often praised for his

kindness that changed in early February

2016 though shortly after he became an

Uber contractor neighbors observed that

he became increasingly paranoid and

depressed the man started to fire guns

outside his house for hours on end yet

this wasn't enough to raise significant

red flags the behavior persisted for

weeks until February 20th Dalton took

his first fare that day at around four

o'clock P.M he was assigned to drop off

Matt melon and at a friend's house

however it wasn't long before he started

driving crazy Dalton entered oncoming

traffic drove over Lawns and even

sideswiped another car that was all

while ignoring and Matt's pleas to stop

Matt was eventually able to escape and

alert authorities but it became just one

of many 9-1-1 calls that went largely

ignored with the trip canceled Dalton

returned home before calling his wife he

asked for the keys of their Chevy HHR

arranging to meet at his parents house

instead Dalton took another pickup

request at 5 15. it came from a woman

who wanted him to pick up her boyfriend

at a Richard Township apartment there

was a slight error though the woman

listed the wrong address texting a

correction moments later it was in the

same area so this shouldn't have been an

issue yet she received no response even

after attempting to call that's because

Dalton was busy driving so aggressively

that he risked a head-on collision he

arrived sometime before 5 42 PM while

surveying the complex he encountered a

mother and five children in the parking

lot he confronted her under the belief

she was someone else when she clarified

she wasn't the man turned his car around

and began firing there was 15 shots in

total which only stopped once she played

dead though she sustained serious

injuries thankfully the woman survived

Dalton quickly sped away driving through

a red light despite striking another

vehicle he managed to flee the scene he

then canceled the prospective Rider

informing her that something had come up

he spent the next hour warning his wife

of unspecified danger he gave her a gun

and told the family to stay home at all

times he hit the road again at 7 37 PM

leaving in their Chevrolet this was

bizarrely to take more Uber requests

which went without incident none of

these passengers noticed anything

unusual but that piece was short-lived

only lasting the next three hours it was

at 10 that Dalton arrived at a Kia

dealership in Kalamazoo he parked his

car to approach a father and son and

then asked what they were looking at

before they could respond he fatally

shot both of them Dalton heard back to

his car driving five miles to the nearby

Cracker Barrel this time he approached a

stranger sitting in a white van he fired

at both her and an adjacent vehicle

severely injuring five different women

only one of them survived a 14 year old

named Abigail cough the attack put her

in a coma Awakening with a shattered

skull and permanent brain damage the

gunfire lasted only a minute with Dalton

returning home to reload as police now

realized there was an active shooter

they launched a full-fledged Manhunt

they began to broadcast the description

of his car over the radio Dalton on the

other hand was unfazed he resumed his

ride-sharing business when the Clock

Struck midnight the Uber contractor

began by dropping off three students at

at their dorm he then drove four people

to a hotel they heard about the Spree

killing and playfully inquired if he was

a gunman he simply replied no this

happened again with a different Trio

minutes later the terror wouldn't end

until 12 36 when he was identified after

dropping off those final passengers he

was pulled over for a traffic stop

before being removed and arrested he was

found with a bulletproof vest and a

handgun hidden within his wristband

Dalton was arraigned later that day on

16 charges including six counts of

murder but this did not end the madness

in a preliminary hearing a Dalton

interrupted the first victim while she

was testifying he had a verbal Outburst

of indecipherable statements that caused

her to cry this led him to be restrained

and removed from the courtroom in March

several documents were released in which

Dalton admitted his involvement but the

suspect then said that Uber was truly to

blame he claimed that upon opening the

app he recognized the logo go as that of

the Eastern Star then a devil head

appeared which was when all the problems

started the following excerpt elaborates

on what he told investigators Dalton

said that the iPhone can take you over

he described the devil figure as a

horned cow head it would give you an

assignment and it would literally take

over your whole body it took almost

three years for the case to reach its

conclusion Jason Dalton pleaded guilty

to all charges against him on January 7

2019. he was sentenced to life in prison

without the possibility of parole to

this day it's unclear what motivated him

to take those people's lives

opportunity is everywhere all you have

to do to find it is get out it should be

noted that even if you're using a

traditional taxi or public

transportation there are still risks

that come along with those as well so we

always must keep an eye out and with
