Transcripts
this is an Oreo and I like Oreos they're
my ultimate comfort food but I learned
something terrible recently broke my
heart a little bit I'm just going to go
back a couple of days so I was hanging
out with some friends and it got really
hot out so we decided we need to go get
some drinks from the grocery store I of
course picked out an Arizona Tea love
those while we were looking at all the
drinks my old driver's ed instructor who
happens to also be a science teacher I
guess he was like Hey guys uh maybe
don't buy any drinks with a certain
ingredient in it if you ever want to
like you know be
fertile say what now so I was obviously
a little concerned you know like how
could something like that be in the
drinks that people drink every day and
you don't
think I made a terrible
Discovery um gluten-free Oreos they
contain four additives zanan gum zanan
gum a texturizing agent maybe associated
with the development of breast cancer
anti-caking agent artificial flavor
fling at least there's some protein I am
shook does make me think about the fact
that I'm about to be 18 which means I'm
doing my own grocery shopping in just a
matter of like like a a month when I
move into my new apartment I have to
fill that whole Pantry I have to think
about this kind of stuff Health matters
I decided I'm going to investigate as of
right now I decided that right now
[Music]
must everything be
poisoned these sweet peas came from our
garden this is all I feel safe eating
right now I mean everyone knows that
most food is not good for us anymore but
what's really concerning to me is the
things that I don't even think about
things like makeup you know stuff you on
your face your shampoo your cleaning
items skin care soaps perfumes very bad
I discovered fragrance is terrible for
you I'm going to go
shopping after yesterday's shocking
discoveries about everything that we've
been eating in my home I wanted to see
how bad everything is I need to know how
to grocery shop while also being
conscious about what I'm adding to the
cart so you might have seen me scanning
some of the food products with my phone
that is because I got this app and this
is not a sponsor or anything I just
legitimately this is the app I'm using
it's called Yuka you can scan the
barcode on mostly any product and it'll
give that item a rating from 0 to 100 so
I'm going to go scan crazy out of
everything in our house things that came
up the most toxic Ken's salad dressing
are Douro freezer pizza and my beloved
Tostito sauce cheesy gooey plasticky
mystery substance it
was concerning yes but it was more
heartbreaking than anything
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
it's so hot out I really want an ice
coffee right now but if I can't scan it
I'm not buying it
[Music]
this one's actually pretty surprising it
doesn't have any risky additives I mean
it still probably isn't good for you
it's literally just a gigantic jar of
chocolate but it's better than I thought
it gives me a little hope
[Music]
I used to love those as a kid I'm still
alive so I don't think they can be that
bad for
me so I continued to scan everything in
the store overall more negative results
than positive but nothing could have
prepared me for this
one never eat done for donuts this is
all extremely concerning you want to see
my
basket hard to find something that
doesn't have hazardous or moderately
hazardous additives inside of it when
you can actually see what it is and what
it does that makes it really scary it
makes it a little more real I don't want
to be putting all this weird blah blah
blah blah blah phosphates things I can't
pronounce you know I like to call them
the
unpronounce go
ahead I honestly just want to go home
and start researching how to make all my
own food I just need to grab one more
thing literally I just needed a
ChapStick but I could of help but wonder
you don't think there's all of these
unnecessary toxic stuff in something
like this too
right oh boy
hello that is my
name that is my
address my car insurance payments too
wait no no no no that's a scam but they
know everything about me it must be
legit well that's because scammers and
companies are able to buy your
information from data Brokers whose
entire job is just selling your info how
do I get my information deleted using
incognate which also happens to be the
sponsor of today's video I take my
privacy really seriously because guess
what I had my identity stolen when I was
a baby someone was able to steal my
identity before I was even old enough to
be subjecting my personal information
all over the Internet so imagine how
easy it'd be for that to happen now all
of these different data Brokers all over
the Internet have your information but I
learned that upon requests these data
Brokers have to delete any info they
have on you the problem is to reach out
to these data Brokers and requests they
deleted it would literally take hundreds
of hours to do it manually and you'd
have to keep repeating the process every
once in a while to make sure you're
still safe it would be relatively
impossible and that's where incog comes
in because they'll do that for you so
all you have to do is sign up fill out
what information you'd like to be
removed and incog will find everyone
that has it and request it be deleted
within 48 Hours of signing up they
already made 127 requests there's 72
pages of lists of data Brokers and if
you're someone who uses a VPN like me
you might be thinking well isn't my
information already safe well vpns are
more defensive protecting your
information from getting stolen while
incog is more offensive going after
what's already out there which includ
includes taking you off of those
people's search sites which if you've
ever been on one they're terrifying can
also get rid of those pesky scam calls
and emails when did I enter the Canadian
Power Ball So to take back your privacy
go to incog
docomo and use code NAA to get 60% off
your annual plan that is a huge deal on
something that could potentially totally
save you okay time to go ruin half the
products in my house for me
forever kind of went around the house
and I collected all the products that we
use quite a bit I feel like shampoos and
stuff are something that I would
probably use the most out of all of
these products I'm really curious to see
if there's really bad stuff in this 13
out of 100 awesome so it has a lot of
additives most of them are lowrisk it
has one moderate risk one we're going to
call this one of the unpronouncable
cause allergic reactions can also cause
developmental toxicity and has adverse
effects on the blood the liver and
fertility we're just going to yeah
everything like that goes in the
garbage 93 out of 100 we're going to
keep this one head and shoulders see
four out of 100 two hazardous additives
oh it's been banned for leave on
products in the European Union Australia
and and Canada that's nice what about
America I kind of feel like anything
under maybe 50 we should get rid of Bath
and& Body Works body spray watermelon
lemonade zero out of 100 bad can block
the effects of female hormones uh it
also has
I think I got that it falls into the
category 1 B substances presumed to be
toxic for human reproduction what is
this trend of all of these products I
mean something that's just supposed to
make you smell like watermelon lemonade
affecting reproduction and fertility
shaving creams 36 out of 100 Elemental
toxicity adverse effects on the blood
litter fertility shea moisture coconut
and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie I
put this on my hair every time I get out
of the shower part of the curly girl
routine 72 out of 100 that's good that
makes me happy I kind of need this stuff
I found a couple baby products the baby
lotion is a 2 out of 100 hazardous
additive this substance may also have
effects on fertility in the development
of unborn children baby lotion harmful
for fertility and the development of
unborn children Johnson's baby soap 39
out of 100 got developmental toxicity we
should not be putting this on babies my
nail polishes don't have barcodes but
this one does this is going to speak for
all the rest of them 33 out of 100 toxic
luckily for me I'm a chronic nail biter
so I don't usually use nail polish
makeup though I do use makeup okay my ey
shadow palette is a 47 out of 100 it
contains synthetic wax
carcinogenic Dove deodorant 50 out of
100 it has just lowrisk additives that's
actually surprising I thought deodorant
would be way worse swaave conditioner 35
out of 100 po also have a Suave lotion
that is 19 out of 100 promote the
development of cancers accumulating the
body particularly in the lymp nodes and
liver and we got one more in the in the
Suave category zero out of 100 they're
getting worse that's good to know
because you know Suave is it's an
affordable brand when it comes to like
shampoos and conditioners it's you know
kind of a go-to if I was just grocery
shopping for myself like how I'm going
to be doing in the apartment I would buy
swap products Bath and Body Works lotion
0er out of 100 they affect
fertility other wrath and Body Works
lotion I really like this one it smells
really good Z 100 oh this one's worse
than the last one they affect fertility
carcinogenic potentially toxic effects
on reproduction Bath and Body Works is a
nogo this is a facial cleanser it is 1
out of 100 effects on hormones and
fertility also have one of their facial
serums 72 out of 100 okay this one's
good sunscreen Z out of 100 effects on
reproduction care products 50 out of 100
that's not too bad this is okay bubble
skincare 50 out of 100 it's not terrible
it's not amazing it's not terrible
curology moisturizers 93 out of 100
without fragrance allergens and all
risk-free additives five stars curology
axxe shampoo I know all of the men in my
family really like axe products zero out
of 100 two hazardous additives something
that can cause cancer and something that
can cause genetic mutations affect
specifically thyroid function I am so
confused there was a lot of bad stuff in
the food items I almost feel like this
stuff is worse though even though you're
not consuming it we use more of these
products just on the daily and it's such
a crazy just combination of all of this
stuff that's getting put into our body
on top of the Stu we eating I don't
understand why things like Johnson's
Baby Lotion have to have all of these
super toxic ingredients in them and the
way everything seems to have some sort
of effect on fertility in male and
female hormones why I guess I just don't
if you ever want to smell a
[Music]
liar I touched the phone screen with
that leg anyway I guess I just don't
understand why we're getting poisoned
through our food and our drinks and our
lotions and our makeup and our soaps
everything everyone's going to be so mad
I threw all of our shampoo away so I
started researching and what I found was
pretty scary like how all these
additives and our food are directly
linked to causing chronic food illnesses
that kill, 1600 Americans a day cancer
rates are rapidly increasing especially
with children and young people meanwhile
overall fertility rates are rapidly
decreasing so what's going on is there
anything we can do and Addam scared
myself that's enough
[Music]
research that is a really good avocado
it looks like a
[Music]
cartoon I think it's done
wait a minute we're definitely missing
[Music]
something it's really windy out
here only pick a couple leaves the bees
would not allow me do anything else I
was going to get stung it's an actual
infestation over there it's like even
when you grow your own food it's still
dangerous all right so what I have made
here
it's a
[Music]
wrap chicken avocado lettuce maybe a
little spicy mayo but I scanned it and
it said it was okay but on a gluten-free
tortilla so I think this is a 100 out of
100 meal I literally don't feel okay
eating anything else so I tried to get
the best ingredients that I
could spicy I've made a masterpiece here
I do say so
myself sparkling water I scanned it it
said 100 excellent so it's okay to drink
but the next couple of days I really
grew suspicious of everything I was
suspicious of our toothpaste I was
suspicious of our dinners couldn't pass
some potatoes though luckily we ended up
harvesting our own Idaho activities
those I could at least feel good about
I'm scared of everything this is not
practical I don't want to use anything
let's see
nontoxic household items Branch purpose
all wait Branch Branch Basics all
purpose
concent Branch Basics allpurpose
concentrate
cleaner for $55 let's see how much a
normal allpurpose cleaner costs
$4 from Lysol how about toothpaste
there's got to be some bad stuff in
toothpaste right a regular Colgate
toothpaste $5 for a pack of three from
Target non-toxic toothpaste
$36 oh this is making me nervous how
about things like dish and hand soap
okay there's actually all natural
alternatives I'm seeing that are not
only decently priced they're way cheaper
than regular dish soap and hand soap
your laundry detergent counter top spray
all
right I bad
things look at me trying to be health
conscious con conscious I about some
hand soaps about a laundry detergent and
those are going to go directly into the
apartment when I move in so what I found
out about our food and our household
items has been really eye openening and
pretty scary so we may not be able to
control it but we can still be aware and
what we can control is what we choose to
consume so I'm about to have to make a
lot of adult choices it's a little
overwhelming but something I can start
with is trying to live a clean lifestyle
so we'll see how it goes I have a whole
fridge and Pantry to fill
