escape the Heat and pressures of the
capital the journey to and from the
Soldiers Home was considered risky due
to the isolated and wooded nature of the
area during one of these trips while
Lincoln was riding in his Carriage a
shot was fired at him the bullet went
through his hat but miraculously Lincoln
