when we think of santorini this is
usually what we have in mind and even
though those infinity swimming pools
look great many of us can't afford that
myself included and you might be
wondering is it possible to visit
santorini with a total budget of three
or four hundred euros well i actually
have fun well the answer is yes and this
video will tell you exactly how hey guys
welcome to santorini explained my name
is sebastian i'm a tour guide here in
santorini and today i'm telling you how
to visit santorini if you're on a budget
[Music]
a very easy way to see santorini with
minimal expenses is to come during the
off-season between november and march
but i'm sure that you guys would rather
come to santorini when the sun is
shining and the sea is warm so for the
sake of this video let's focus on the
summer season and let's start with the
accommodation this is definitely the
area in which you can save the most
because hotels tinted pretty pricey here
around 150 euros a night for a basic
double room or 400 a night if you want
the swimming pool with the view which is
definitely not cheap so if you're on a
budget you can't afford any of those
things and i have two alternatives for
you one hostels which will cost you
around 15 euros a night and option two
if you want slightly more comfort or
privacy than in a hostel you can also go
to a cheap hotel room because the
cheapest hotels on the island are
actually around 50 euros a night for a
double room which is not too bad the
best way to find those cheap rooms is to
go on booking.com and sort the hotels by
price very easy just keep in mind though
that if you're planning to visit
santorini by bus it's a good idea to
look for a hotel which is within walking
distance of the main bus station of fira
and you'll understand why in a second
and this leads us to our next point
transportation now santorini is a small
island but don't believe you can
navigate the entire island just on foot
if you do that you'll end up spending
hours walking through pretty
uninteresting farmland under the burning
sun and worst of all there are often no
sidewalks at all so you're gonna walk on
the road with the cars which is super
stretchy so instead of walking your best
option by far if you're on a budget is
to take the public buses buses are
pretty cheap in santorini around two
euros for a ride and they can bring you
to all the villages of santorini but one
fundamental thing to know about buses is
that all bus lines start and end in
fidel the capital which means that if
you're staying in fire you can be
anywhere you want on the island in less
than 45 minutes but if you don't stay in
friday every time you'll have to take a
bus two feet and then change buses go
somewhere else which will make you lose
a lot of time but also money because one
ticket is for one bus so a second bus
means second ticket and that's why i was
telling you to find a hotel within
walking distance of the bus station of
ira by the way if you want to know more
about buses in santorini if they're any
good and what are the bus lines you can
check out this video right here all
right next up food how can you save
money on food well the cheapest option
obviously is to go to the supermarket
and just buy whatever and make yourself
a sandwich but i'm sure you're not
really excited by that am i right so
here are some alternatives one we have
the almighty souvlaki they're delicious
and very cheap between 250 and 3 euros
and secondly we have the bakeries
because just so you know grace has the
specificity to have bakeries with much
more savory stuff than sweet stuff so
bakeries and race are not just for
breakfast but easily also for lunch and
dinner you will find all sorts of pies
stuffed with cheese vegetables and meats
and those will usually cost around two
euros for one now regarding restaurants
here are some very valuable tips that
can definitely make you save money one
don't eat in yeah it's so much more
expensive than the rest of the island
two try in general to avoid the places
with the famous caldera view because
those ones will also be a bit more
expensive and my third tip if you
quickly want to know whether or not a
restaurant has tourist prices have a
look at the menu look for the great
salad they all have it if it's anywhere
above 8 euros those are tourist prices
now one more piece of advice when it
comes to food and this might sound like
a detail but it can actually add up
pretty quickly make sure to buy your
bottled water from a supermarket because
yes in case you didn't know we don't
drink tap water in santorini and a
six-pack of big bottles in the
supermarket will cost you 30 cents a
bottle and the same bottle will be
charged two euros anywhere else so do
your wallet a favor the first thing you
do when you arrive in santorini is to go
and buy a sitch pack from the
supermarket alright do you feel like all
those tips were useful if yes please
make sure to hit the like button and if
you want to know what tours i run here
in santorini you can check out my
instagram page i'm gonna leave you with
those two videos this one is about my
favorite village on the island pirgo's
absolutely beautiful and very underrated
and this one is about the famous hike of
santorini from fira to ia if you like
hiking this is a must do for you alright
that's it for today see you in the next
one bye
