Transcripts
do you struggle with retaining talented
employees at your workplace have you
ever had this experience where you
invested your time your effort your
money in nurturing a capable person
trusting them with critical
responsibilities in your business and
just at the time when they started peing
they decided to exit and go join a
competitor or start their own business
that can be the most painful thing that
can happen to a business owner and
that's why in this video I want to teach
you a very very effective and practical
model for you to retain talented people
at your workplace and the model is
called The Grow model in the grow model
G stands for goal clarity as a
management of a business or as a
business owner your responsibility is to
ensure that there are clear goals for
the organization there are clear goals
for every function in the organization
and then further the goals are clearly
broken down for every individual working
in every function Studies have shown
that 70% of performance problems and
exits happen because of lack of clarity
but when you create organization goals
functional goals and then link them to
individual goals then people have a
pathway people understand how are they
contributing to the big picture and
that's what keeps them hooked and
retained to a workpl now as you define
goals your job doesn't end there it
actually starts there the next element
in the grow model for you to retain
talented people at your workplace is to
create role Clarity out of my experience
of working with more than 25,000 micro
small and medium Enterprise businesses
there's one thing I can tell you with
absolute certainty there is too much
chaos too much confusion and too much
firefighting happening at the workplace
including the business owner people have
no idea who is responsible for what
everybody is doing everything and
therefore nobody is accomplishing
anything And when everybody is doing
everything you can't hold them
responsible for anything so it's
important for you to get the best out of
your talent is to create role Clarity
for each and every person on their team
this is not just about giving people a
job title a job title actually is empty
and meaningless by itself it's about you
breaking down what are the critical
responsibilities of this individual
under that role that they are playing
and under each responsibility for you to
list out the tasks and activities that
the individual is supposed to do to
achieve their goals in a sequential
manner only when you break down the
tasks and activities of an individual in
a stepbystep sequential manner are you
giving people precise Clarity of what
are they responsible for what are they
expected to do what are the capabilities
that they need to have so that they
fulfill their role in the organization
only when people have Clarity of their
role do they feel engaged do they feel
connected to the work otherwise they
feel like they're floating around in an
environment of Chaos L and they lose
their own confidence when they are in
such kind of a chaotic environment and
therefore the first thing they want to
do is leave that kind of an organization
creating Ro Clarity ties things together
for people so that they are emotionally
aligned to what is expected out of them
the next aspect of the grow model which
is to break down opportunities for
them we need to create three types of
opportunities for our team members if we
want to retain talented people number
one we need to create opportunities for
recognition and rewards which means what
as an organization as a management you
need to look for opportunities to
celebrate the contribution of your
talented people you need to create
recognition mechanisms you need to
create rewarding and awarding mechanisms
to highlight the contribution of
talented people only then do they feel
that they are being valued a lot of
times business owners make a mistake of
not highlighting the contributions of
key Achievers within their teams and
this makes people feel that this is not
a fair workplace this workplace doesn't
value the value that I bring and
therefore they check out and they exit
such workplaces so look for
opportunities to celebrate people to
recognize people to reward people that's
the first kind of opportunity you need
to create the second opportunity that
you need to create for your team members
especially your talented team members is
an opportunity for financial growth
let's face it people wake up in the
morning and come to work not just
because they love the work but because
they love the result and the outcome
they're able to create for themselves
and their families by doing that work
money is important to people do not look
at team members who look at money as
important as negative characters you got
to recognize that Financial need and
create Financial growth opportunities
for your team members if your thought
process is how can I pay the least
amount of money and get the maximum
amount of work done that's not called
smart thinking that's called stupid
ignorant stingy and cheap thinking you
as a business owner and a management
need to look for creating Financial
growth opportunities and be excited
about financially rewarding those who
are contributing and the Third Kind of
opportunity that you need to create for
you to retain Talent is career growth
opportunities so beyond rewarding and
recognizing Beyond Financial growth you
also got to give people a pathway a plan
for them to grow in their career in
terms of their roles in terms of their
designations in terms of the quality of
projects and the quality of work that
they going to be doing people just don't
want money they want to learn they want
to grow they want to solve bigger
problems they want to be connected to
the bigger picture that's what retains
them at a workplace so opportunity for
recognition opportunity for financial
growth and opportunity for career growth
is the responsibility of management to
create so that we can retain Talent now
if you feel that you lack the capability
as a business owner to create goal
Clarity to create role Clarity to create
opportunities of rewards recognition
Financial growth and career growth then
I have an important gift for you in the
description below I have inserted a link
of a 40-minute intensive training that

management and teaches you some of the

this video invest another 40 minutes for
your own personal learning and growth
which brings me to the fourth element of
the grow model when it comes to
retaining talented people apart from
providing goal Clarity role Clarity and
opportunities to talented team members
the fourth thing that you as a business
owner need to take care of to retain
Talent is to create the right kind of
work environment nobody who is capable
is going to waste their life at a
workplace which is filled with gossip
Blame Game groupism ego conflicts
manipulation jealousy and lack of
cooperation and Synergy and this is
where it is your responsibility as a
business owner to create an environment
which is fair to create an environment
which is fun and to create an
environment which is focused towards
goals creating that culture is your
responsibility it doesn't happen by
itself you got to have this conversation
and keep this conversation alive at your
workplace you got to address issues when
there are instances where some people
people are treated unfairly you got to
address issues when the workplace
becomes too boring and serious by
bringing in some fun and engagement at
the workplace you got to be proactive
about making sure that everybody's
focused towards goals by running
consistent Fair review mechanisms if you
are not going to lead from the front
then there is no way you will build a
high performance culture for you to
retain talented people so this is your
responsibility as a business owner to
walk the path and to implement the steps
of the grow model create goal Clarity
create role Clarity create opportunities
for rewards recognition Financial growth
career growth and build a work
environment which is fair which is fun
which is focused and if you want to

be a better leader how you can be a
competent business owner then make sure
