hi my name is Jim job I'm manager of
Liverpool FC and welcome to soccer comm
coaching philosophy actually this
question a lot of people ask me already
and I'm now 2050 this year and I never
really thought about it it's based on
our discipline or that it's quite
intense philosophy only about man
management because the closer you get to
the players the more responsible you are
I was a very young father know em and I
was not prepared for this actually how
each young father problem is and I felt
a lot of times I have no idea what I'm
doing there but I tried really my best
but it gave me the opportunity to learn
how to handle much younger people than
myself and that means I am still is
understanding for for for young people
because they have young players they
have the same problems then I had a live
in this world too so I can give them my
experience in all these different parts
of life and that's how I see it it's
like a father role when I sign a player
they come in and I don't know exactly
but there are hammer person is wanted
for their performance and I work
together with me I feel minimum 50%
maybe more because I made a decision I
really I put the player because I think
he is the right player so it's my
responsibility to do to take this to get
out that's the best other thing it's
very natural game first of all that the
more you did the more you do with the
ball the more you play with the ball the
better living
I don't nobody should think that any
world class player recognized it and it
was 10 years old there's a ball that
makes it quite easy for youth coaches
then because we all think 120 we have to
start with technical things and all the
top tech you think they are because of
the game the first hard for example
first touches perfect and every a lot of
us could train the first parts the 10
it's time to see what's around if you
need five seconds to control this thing
of leather then
everything changed already around
yourself do this and when you have this
enough to overview then you can use the
pitch and you can learn all the rest
it's a player's game with the team game
but in all it in value of very early in
their life because then there is the
feeling that they really have to show
them that they are better than all the
rest it doesn't work together they'll
give it a ball and I do something
special and this is outside oh yeah it's
good and interesting but it really it
don't use his teammates and it doesn't
use the teammates and all that stuff so
that's that's part of the game so that's
why we are really fight for giving them
time to develop
you cannot go only to training and play
football there that's net that's never
enough you have to do a lot by ourselves
it's a nice thing you can get up at home
in your room or maybe at the beginning a
few windows got broken but then and in
the end there everybody's safe around
you so and that's how all should start
we get familiar with the ball that's a
lot you have to test each weekend or all
three or four days and but my my view on
the person never changed it's not that
if you if you're normal and all the
guides and all good you can really
perform that and I criticize what you
did on the pitch that it doesn't mean
that you are a person or whatever so
that's we don't have to be all nice guys
but you have to understand the game in
this game gives us rules you need to be
as confident as possible not not too
confident so you don't it's not allowed
to think and the most important here
because only two or three players in the
girls are like this cause question I'm a
typical adult aficionado would look
different
does gonna without message with the
difference but they impress themselves
especially Christian on the pitch but
they work harder than all the others and
they do more for the game than all the
others and that's the most important
thing but let's stop doing this C weeks
later they are not play anymore at this
moment and so and that the game gives us
the route that's why I love it because
you can really take a lot of the game
and use it for your private life
yeah it's a good school a lot of
challenges but the hardest thing to
accept this is the key feature
unfortunately out of you so I know there
are really hard things to deal with in
football and of course I lost a lot of
finals and all that stuff and if I want
I can see like going to a final is
really good when you're there I want to
win it if you lose it then it gets
really difficult to go home I think yeah
again second it's not nice so that's a
real challenge that's a real challenge
but I'm not too smart so I'm not too
good in remembering bad things if I
forget them until the situation is
similar and hopefully in the future a
lot of times at the end finals I am top
10 football romantics in the world so I
love all these stuff since I started I
still have my first kids from my very
first club with which I was born with
five years so I love this kind of and I
could actually I kind of draw but I
could draw now it looks oh that's for me
very important and I know that football
is not the most important thing in the
world but when we play and when we come
together and then it is the most
important thing if we all I like symbols
are like signs alike and messages and
and a laughing sport they get the best
out of us if we want so that you betting
is what happened already religions of
all the things okay we have to fight
them we have to do the game understand
or whatever in earlier times things like
this cut and that we all can come
together and Liverpool especially with
these millions and millions of
supporters and want the same thing in
the same moment so where can we get this
from so it's like this the whole world
is like in different houses
everybody is only focused on this
situation on this game so one of the
best we had until now was of course the
the European League game against
Dortmund here the last half an hour I'm
sure nobody will forget this for the
rest of their life and then that's
fantastic where can you get this from in
another situation and then so that's
fantastic and Liverpool is one of them
these clubs in the world no doubt about
this we have a little bit lack of
success in last videos that's that's for
sure but still because of a few
outstanding personalities in football
with wonderful jobs in the past we can
still use this basic thing and that's
what what we try to do in turn there is
the little bird is design for all of us
when you wear it less than hundred
percent or not a lot it was like this on
Sunday I was a play on Monday I was a
manager and 33 years old
full of passion but no idea so I had to
learn I can I still can remember when I
was first buy back first game I said
Monday manager Wednesday first game
watch the game from not from the stand
from the sideline and after a game
everybody asked me what do you think
about this what do you think about that
and I'd still the players view in it and
I gave answers I had no idea because we
have really had to learn the view of the
game because it's the worst place in the
stadium is all
they might you see you see worse than
ever anybody else in the state so what I
did then I was wrong about 10,000
football games and these times in 2000
it was with EBD well and that was really
I lost it but it was it was hard work
probably to understand what happens on
the pitch and try to get different views
in trainings or I built for me some
positions where I was rated higher than
the team and could watch different
situations I could do all of this
because the clamp gave me the
opportunity you never thought and see
they'll be crazy or what is he doing
there and and that's what the thing I
learned you have to learn this job
nobody is born as a football manager and
a lot of different things we need to be
skilled they need to have a talent for
because it should not be worth to like
in my case I would in my eyes and would
like to work with the press doing things
like this I don't care I don't think a
second before or second after because if
I would do this then my days really -
not long enough so you need to be busy
you need to be ambitious you need to
achieve unity learn whatever you can
learn about the game and so it's another
thing people ask me a lot of time if I
can do training sessions for them and
tell them what we are doing and things
like this I could of course but in my
understanding is like this the best
thing we learn all by yourself at it
because the game is meanwhile old enough
that nearly everything was already there
you can watch other two approaches you
can watch other games and see what they
are doing and then you have to adapt to
your own idea you have to bring it
together with your own idea and that's
what you have to do in training and all
the sports and things you have to learn
again so you need to be really dishes
that are busy and and really work hard
that's how it is and ready to be and
confident about what you are doing
how's that I had a few skills obviously
from the conduct and character side and
I loved the game so it was when we never
work but a lot of hours in front of TV
screen whatever and and to understand
what happens out there
