Transcripts
if you want to be confident just like
the iconic character of Maddie Perez
from Euphoria then this video is going
to be definitely for you because in this
video I'm going to be looking at what
makes Maddie so confident and the tips
that you can use to have the same
confidence as
[Applause]
Maddie hi my best friends and welcome
back to my sleep art I feel like I look
so bad in today's video because first of
all like I have a huge bruise on my
freaking lips so I'm trying to do like
dark lipstick to kind of like cover that
up and secondly like my hair is still
not dry I'm still in my like old bedroom
so I literally have nothing to wear here
I know a lot of you who are probably new
here are like why is this girl using her
videos as like a therapy session so I'm
not going to get into more details about
like how hard and messy this day has
been and let's get right into one of our
favorite characters Maddie Perez from
Euphoria and what we can learn from her
to be as confident as her I've also done
a video on Lexi and what you need to
know to become the main character of
your life so if you guys want to watch
that after this one I'm going to be
linking it to this video but I'm super
excited for it so let's get into this
video okay but like when you think of
Maddie from Euphoria the first thing
that comes to mind is probably like how
iconic and confident the character is
every time you watch Maddie every time
you watch like even edits of Maddie you
can feel the confidence literally like
radiating through the screen so like
what is it that makes her so confident
and what is it that gives her that
really magnetic effect the first thing
is going to be more one of the things
that we really love on this channel
which is a body language tip and kind of
like a psychology body language hack
that you can use to feel more confident
immediately and it's literally that when
you watch the character the character
never really does that thing that we
tend to do sometimes when we feel
insecure like you know when you walk
into a classroom like especially for me
this happens a lot when I walk into a
classroom and I feel like everyone
staring at me I literally just want to
like run towards my freaking seat so
like everyone's eyes are off of me or
you know when you're like speaking and
all of a sudden like you feel people
looking at you and you're like oh my God
I got to like finish my sentence faster
it happens a lot if you kind of like
have had social anxiety or still have
social anxiety or are kind of like just
a little bit insecure or afraid of like
socialization in general so for me it's
something that I have to like always
catch myself on which is that opposite
to effort to shrink herself she doesn't
like really cross her arms across her
body or try to like take up less space
which is an opposite of a confident
stance so the thing is the way this
helps is we have have this thing called
the facial feedback effect which is
basically that your facial expressions
can make you feel certain emotions just
like try smiling right now and feel like
how you kind of like feel this tiny bit
of Joy just like come to you the same
thing goes for your body position the
way you hold your body can actually make
you feel a certain way so if you're
going to make an effort to kind of like
put your shoulders back stand more
confidently not try to like shrink
yourself take up less space and actually
take your time to walk somewhere
confidently as opposed to like just
trying to run to your seat so so like no
one looks at you you're going to feel
more confident and not only is this
going to make you feel more confident
it's also going to make the other people
perceive you as more conf signals
confidence to someone that you're
talking to so if you're talking to
someone and you're taking your time to
say what you want to say in a way that
it needs to be said you're going to be
perceived as so much more confident but
like okay the question that comes after
that though is like why is Madie not
really afraid of people listening to her
like you know when you feel people's
eyes on you and you're immediately like
oh my God I'm scared why is Maddie not
afraid of that why is Maddie not afraid
to or something like that but basically
like spending some time to discover
yourself journaling finding out who you
are what is it that you like what is it
that you don't like the more you know
about yourself the more sure and
confident of yourself you become and if
you happen to know a hobby or something
that you like doing pursuing that is
going to make you incredibly confident
because there have been countless
studies UNC confidence of people who
play musical instruments and teenagers
who play musical instruments tend to be
more confident than those who don't but
the secret here is not in the musical
instrument the secret is actually in
pursuing something that you're good at
and actually excelling at something so
if you have a hobby that you know you're
good at just keep on practicing it if
you really like dancing go ahead and
dance maybe you can join a dance studio
or if you don't have the money for that
you can literally just like watch
tutorials on YouTube and like try to
spend some time on that the more you get
better at that skill that you're good at
the more confident it's going to make
you because it gives you something about
about yourself that you feel proud of
because you're so good at it and at the
same time it makes you more sure of your
ability which is exactly what makes you
confident when you're sure that you can
do something when you're sure that
you're good at something then that's
going to definitely increase your
confidence so much which brings me into
the next point and the fact that
confidence by definition is basically
being sure of your ability so as Maddie
says to Lexi on season 2 and as overused
that advice is fake it till you make it
it actually makes sense because
confidence just like every else is a
skill the more you do something the more
sure of yourself you become therefore
the more confident you become so the
more you kind of like practice just
going for things that you like having
confident body language making sure that
you speak in a confident manner the more
it's going to become internalized then
the more it's going to become your own
and at some point you're not even going
to feel like you're faking it because
it's the same thing with learning any
new skill when you're learning like how
to ride a bike which I've never done so
I would not know but like when you're
learning for example a new musical
instrument or when you're learning to
play a sports the first first time it
feels really awkward and really kind of
like weird to be playing that instrument
or to be playing that sports but the
more you do it it kind of becomes like a
second nature to you the same goes for
confidence the more you practice it at
some point you're not even going to
notice if you were ever trying hard to
be confident but an important thing with
this is to kind of like keep in mind to
not use the phrase of like fake it till
you make it too much because when you
call something fake you're already like
going at it with the mindset of I don't
have that thing and I'm faking it I'm a
fraud so it might give you some kind of
like impostor syndrome it's better to
just like say that you're practicing
confidence rather than that you're
faking confidence because the way you
phrase things really affects the way you
actually look at things and one of the
easiest tips honestly comes from the
fact that we always see Maddie like
never shy away from honestly doing
things for herself she likes nice things
she likes to take care of herself and by
practicing self-care by putting time
into your yourself it is making you more
sure of yourself because one you know
that you're working on yourself so
you're going to be more confident about
being yourself it kind of like makes you
love yourself more because you're
putting so much time and dedication into
yourself that there's kind of like no
way but to become more confident and
going along with this this next tip is
kind of it's a little weird honestly
it's also something that you can easily
do just like self-care but this tip can
be more challenging because it's
actually something that people are going
to see which is the fact that Manny has
a really well- defined and unique style
her style is very true to her and she
doesn't really follow what like everyone
else is dressing as having your own
unique defined style that is true to
yourself and that really expresses
yourself and really makes you feel your
best and makes you shine using the
clothes in a way where they make you
feel more confident is going to make you
more confident so don't be afraid to
experiment a little bit with your
clothing obviously I would not say to
like experiment on the day that you're
maybe like going to school or you're
going to University or you're going to
class or something like that like going
to any important thing because I've been
there and I've been dressed in a very
funny way because I was trying to
experiment and that did not make me feel
confident because I was not really like
confident in what I was wearing because
I wasn't sure of that outfit but
experiment by yourself and once you find
something that really makes you feel
like yourself and really makes you feel
so confident when you wear that style
take it anday with it and apart from
style we also always see Maddie never
really let anyone talk down on her or
let anyone disrespect her well except
when it comes to Nate but that's like a
completely different story we're we're
not talking about Nate in this video but
basically we always see Maddie stand up
for herself which is one of the keys to
Maddie's confidence and finally I'm
going to tell you guys a very very
important thing which this tip is
honestly like one of the most important
tips in the whole entire video in the
first season we see Maddie be surrounded
by mostly like supportive people who
make her really happy and the friends
that make her feel good and lift her up
and kind of like also show a good
example which is not really the same in
season 2 where you kind of like see
Maddie honestly kind of suffering and
not feeling her best which shows how
much the people that you surround
yourself with actually affect you and
this is true for anything this is true
for you going for your goals your
interests your confidence even to a
certain extent the way that you look is
going to start to like merge with I
think people say like three or like five
I don't remember exactly but there's the
saying that is like you're some of the
five people three people that you spend
the most time with or something like
that but basically this is really true
psychologically because on a
psychological basis there's also this
thing called observational learning
which is basically when you see
something being done a lot of times and
you tend to copy that behavior your
friends you spend so much time with them
so honestly the things that they say all
the time are going to affect you if
you're around someone who's constantly
talking negative if you're around
someone who's constantly like talking
down and being like Oh my God like I'm
so ugly I'm so fat it's going to start
to take a toll on you if you're around
people who have an incredibly negative
outlook on life it's going to start to
affect you I remember when I was friends
with people who would literally like
have a very pessimistic outlook on life
and be like Oh I'm not even going to get
into a master's program and this and
that and like oh my God studying is so
hard I can never get good grades I also
felt so freaking negative even though
like I already knew this and I was
really trying to fight it in my mind I
was literally like I'm not going to let
this become my outlook on life but I
literally felt my worst when I was
friends with those people and the people
that I'm friends with now like my
friends I feel like I'm better when I'm
friends with them and I feel like I'm
allowed to be the best version of myself
and it's not to say that like oh like
your friends are not allowed to have
hard times in their life of course they
are like that's the point of friendship
because when you're friends with someone
someone you're always there for them but
there are also some toxic friends which
are not really the best for you and
those kinds of people sometimes you need
to cut them out of your life for your
own sake just like we see with Maddie
and Cassie in season 2 oh my God I hope
that was not too short I really try to
honestly like give my best in this video
but I don't know I feel like I just but
I hope you guys like this video and if
you guys want to watch the video on Lexi
and how to be the main character it's
going to be right here and if you guys
want to know some more tips from the
conic movie characters and a girls on
confidence then check out this video
right here and I love you guys so much
and I'll see you guys in the next one
