Transcripts

play00:00

Okay, so this week in AI has been packed with brand new use cases.

play00:03

It took me way longer than usual to actually go through these because most of these are

play00:07

actually novel because we have players like Adobe integrating AI into Acrobat.

play00:12

There's an AI that you can use today to create surprisingly good songs.

play00:20

Plus there's a brand new search engine that I actually started using daily.

play00:23

So let's unpack all of that and even more in this week's AI use cases, the weekly show

play00:27

that shows you all the things that either you or others are doing with AI today.

play00:31

Okay, let's get into it.

play00:33

First one, Adobe making moves, integrating generative AI into their own software.

play00:38

And the timing of this is a bit peculiar, right?

play00:40

Right after the Sora announcement, friend of the channel Bilal Wali here on Twitter

play00:43

shared the fact that Adobe formed a new 50 person team that works on AI research.

play00:48

And now a few days later, we get this AI assistant inside of Adobe Acrobat.

play00:53

So this feature is in beta right now, but as you can see in the blog post, it is available

play00:56

to all Acrobat standard and pro individual and team subscriptions, including me, I have

play01:01

an individual subscription.

play01:02

And if you update the app, like I did here, you're going to be faced with this AI assistant

play01:05

button.

play01:06

So I opened up the little prints PDF just because it's lengthy and I know the story.

play01:10

And then you can go up here and click the AI assistant button.

play01:12

And you get all of these options that you would have previously had to do manually inside

play01:16

of something like GPT-4 in here.

play01:18

Now, as you can see, asking questions, generating summaries and key takeaways, the typical use

play01:23

cases are recommended to you rather than you having to know about them.

play01:27

And this product really follows what we've been talking about so often on this show,

play01:30

which is that a lot of these little demos and use cases that we see pop up every week

play01:34

over time will be integrated into the big apps like Adobe Acrobat, because PDFs matter.

play01:39

Did you know that there's approximately 3 trillion PDFs in the world?

play01:43

No.

play01:44

Well, now you do.

play01:45

And you can use AI on top of them natively like so.

play01:47

So you have some prompt suggestions right here.

play01:49

But I could also go ahead and ask, summarize the story in one sentence.

play01:53

Okay, that took a few seconds.

play01:54

That's great.

play01:55

He travels from planet to planet encountering various characters and learning important

play01:58

life lessons along the way.

play01:59

Yep, that's the one sentence summary that works.

play02:02

And then you have these follow up questions.

play02:03

So great AI integration right here.

play02:05

But now the question presents itself, why should I be using this over GPT-4?

play02:08

And the answer to that is the same as with most of these dedicated tools.

play02:12

This thing has been built to interact with PDFs, whereas with GPT-4 you can interact

play02:16

with PDFs, images, code, text, and it's built to be a helpful assistant that also gets things

play02:21

done for you.

play02:22

That's very different from this tool in here, OpenAI is going to have a hard time to give

play02:25

you prompt suggestions and to achieve speed like this because they're trying to do so

play02:29

many things.

play02:30

In other words, specialized tools like this are more focused and fine tuned for this specific

play02:34

job.

play02:35

So really, if I do a side by side comparison, I upload the PDF, I use the same prompt, you're

play02:39

going to see that by the time the first letter comes out, Adobe Acrobat already had the answer.

play02:44

But here out of fairness, I do have to say that the GPT-4 answer was actually a bit more

play02:47

accurate.

play02:48

It's still one sentence, but it went into more detail.

play02:50

But if I follow up with saying what are the lessons, it immediately lists these and it's

play02:53

super fast at that.

play02:54

And it's included in the software.

play02:55

So I expect all the apps to integrate something like this over time.

play02:58

But for now, let's move on to some product upgrades by OpenAI themselves.

play03:01

This is going to be very brief because it's not a huge use case, but basically two things

play03:04

happened.

play03:05

First of all, they went ahead and announced that they're closing down the plugin store

play03:08

and all the plugins in ChatGPT.

play03:11

So if you were used to any of these plugins in here, well, that's a thing of the past.

play03:14

You can forget about them.

play03:16

Starting April 9th, you will be forced to use them through a GPT.

play03:19

And hand in hand with that, they came up with an update that upgraded the GPT store and

play03:23

the depth of the GPT profiles a little bit.

play03:25

I really like little updates like this.

play03:27

But the main thing here is that the message from OpenAI is clear.

play03:30

Forget about the plugins, we're all in on GPTs.

play03:31

Just to show you the concrete change, if I go into this AI Advantage digital marketer

play03:36

that we freely provide, you can go into the About section, and you can now publicly see

play03:39

all the chats, they included ratings now, and you can link social profiles here on top.

play03:43

Now, what I found for myself, but also what I heard from the AI Advantage community is

play03:47

that the core usefulness of these GPTs are not the public ones, they're the ones that

play03:50

you build for yourself, the personalized ones that you don't even publish.

play03:54

So just keep that in mind when you interact with the GPT store.

play03:57

And while we're here, check out the digital marketer.

play03:59

Prompt number four here, for example, generates 30 prompts for digital marketing.

play04:04

And then you can just go ahead and copy paste these and run it with the digital marketer.

play04:08

But obviously, this is going to work better if you personalize the instructions or the

play04:11

prompt here by yourself.

play04:13

So in summary, plugins no more, GPTs are the future, and the best ones are the ones you

play04:17

build for yourself.

play04:18

Okay, so next up, we have Suno V3 that released an alpha.

play04:21

If you didn't know, Suno is the best in class music generator, in my opinion.

play04:25

It's really unparalleled when it comes to creating music with lyrics, because it writes

play04:29

a text, generates the music, puts it all together.

play04:31

And to use V3, it's not free right now, they had a Valentine's Day promotion where you

play04:35

could create songs for free on Valentine's Day with V3.

play04:38

But I gotta say, this is such a big upgrade from version two, rather than me just talking

play04:42

about it, just have a listen to a country song that I just created here just by saying

play04:46

create a country song about a generative AI that replaces all YouTubers.

play04:49

Are you kidding me?

play05:06

That is so good.

play05:07

And here's another one about this weekly show.

play05:16

Okay so I tried different use cases here.

play05:34

It seems to be really good with country and drum bass.

play05:36

The pop was okay, and the grime that I tried didn't work too well, but go explore yourself.

play05:41

This is getting ridiculously good, and I think I'll just have to create some songs that I'll

play05:44

be using from here on out.

play05:46

Okay, moving on to AI image generators.

play05:48

Some very interesting news this week, especially when it comes to generating images with text

play05:52

in it.

play05:53

Because up until now, we got half-baked versions.

play05:55

Last week, there was the stability AI stable diffusion free announcement.

play05:58

It's not something that's usable, so we didn't include it in the show.

play06:01

But as a reaction to that, Ideogram officially came out with Ideogram 1.0.

play06:06

And if you didn't know, they had a sort of preview live.

play06:08

This model had one really big strength, and that was creating text.

play06:11

And now that they released, you can for free try this out.

play06:13

I just did a standard benchmark prompt with a cat with a hat.

play06:17

So as you know, that's just my go-to prompt in image generators, and then I judge the

play06:20

results based on me running this for every other image generator.

play06:23

And I'd say about the style of this, it's very storytelling fantasy-esque, which is

play06:29

neither a good nor a bad thing.

play06:30

That's just what it is.

play06:31

That's how the model is trained.

play06:32

But as I mentioned, the big strength here is text.

play06:35

So I'll say a logo of a pet store named, and then I'll just say a cat with a hat.

play06:40

And as you can see, that's pretty damn good.

play06:42

A lot of these are actually perfect.

play06:44

Matter of fact, three out of four were perfect here.

play06:47

Let's just regenerate to make sure.

play06:49

Four out of four.

play06:50

Something that is unthinkable in Majorny or Dali, although they did get way better with

play06:53

text.

play06:54

So there you go.

play06:55

That's a free tool you can use.

play06:56

Moving on to the next one.

play06:57

So in last week's episode, I showed you this example of the NBA using generative AI to

play07:01

transform highlights from matches, almost in real time, into a stylized version that

play07:05

looked just like the Spider-Man comics.

play07:07

But that was NBA's proprietary model that they're developing.

play07:10

We don't really have access to this yet.

play07:12

So this week, I'll be showing you how you could create something similar by yourself.

play07:15

And I'm happy to say that this segment is actually the sponsor of this week's video,

play07:19

DomoAI.

play07:20

And they just launched this brand new video-to-video feature inside of Discord that transforms

play07:23

your videos into stylized versions of it.

play07:26

And it actually works really well.

play07:27

Let's have a look.

play07:28

So as of right now, this is only accessible for Discord.

play07:30

So what you need to do is join their Discord server.

play07:32

But luckily, using it is really simple.

play07:34

You just head on over to one of these generate channels, and then all you do is say slash

play07:37

video.

play07:38

So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to use one of the Sora examples, because I

play07:41

think the implications of this are really interesting.

play07:43

AI generated video and then AI remixed video, a lot of possibilities open up there.

play07:47

So I'm just going to take this man on the cloud, and then I'm just going to copy over

play07:51

the prompt that was used to generate it and hit enter.

play07:54

And then here are all the choices.

play07:55

From my testing, I do prefer the illustration styles over the anime styles, because the

play07:59

anime styles keep changing the scenes a bit too much for my own taste.

play08:03

So to do this, you will need the starter plan.

play08:04

But once you have it, I'll just pick a 3D cartoon style on this one and generate a three

play08:08

second video.

play08:09

Let's do it.

play08:10

So while this generates, here's an example that I tried beforehand of this animated Sora

play08:14

clip transformed into a comic style right here, then a Chinese ink painting or paper

play08:18

art.

play08:19

Look at that.

play08:20

Or here's a clip of J. Cole rapping in pixel style.

play08:22

Now on play this for copyright issues.

play08:24

But the cool thing is that Domo does maintain the audio under the clip.

play08:27

So if you're making music, you can just run it through Domo and turn a simple phone recording

play08:30

into stylized music video.

play08:32

That's a great use case right there.

play08:33

There you go.

play08:34

It just did it.

play08:35

By the way, I really like what it did to the clouds here.

play08:36

If you want to try it yourself, it's the first link in this video's description.

play08:39

Thanks again to Domo for sponsoring this video.

play08:42

And now let's look at our next use case.

play08:43

Find SD.art and this is provided by civet.ai, which is a lot of stable diffusion models

play08:48

that you can use on their site.

play08:49

And the whole trick here is you can upload various images where you're not sure what

play08:53

model was used to do that or what fine tune of the model was used to do that, to be more

play08:58

precise.

play08:59

So there's many popular fine tunes, but one really distinctive one is this juggernaut

play09:02

XL, which is trained on beautiful people's pictures, I guess.

play09:06

That's the whole concept here.

play09:07

You'll only get images of people that look like supermodels.

play09:09

And if you wanted to recreate that, it would be kind of tricky to find out what that is

play09:12

if you're not aware that juggernaut XL does exactly that.

play09:15

Now with this tool, I can just upload an image and for free without logging in, it's just

play09:20

going to find what stable diffusion models could probably be used to get this result.

play09:24

So let's see.

play09:25

This one has a 100 score.

play09:26

Let's open up all three of them and let's review.

play09:28

Okay, so as you can see, the 100 score actually got it wrong.

play09:30

It says dream shaper, but on the other one, it correctly identified that it's juggernaut.

play09:34

And these results are actually consistent with our findings while I was testing this

play09:37

tool.

play09:38

It's really good at pointing you in the right direction, but don't expect it to be spot

play09:41

on 10 out of 10 times.

play09:43

And to be honest, that's really all you need.

play09:44

You need the right direction, something that's similar enough or something that gets you

play09:47

that result.

play09:48

So yeah, probably a really good tool to have somewhere in your bookmarks bar.

play09:51

Now you can reverse engineer AI images really easily.

play09:54

All right, next up, we have a really big one.

play09:56

Everybody has been talking about this throughout the week.

play09:59

It's Mistral coming out with their large model, which is essentially a GPT-4 competitor.

play10:04

And yes, that's Mistral, the French company that has been coming out with open source

play10:08

models left and right.

play10:09

But it turns out that this model is actually not open source.

play10:13

And matter of fact, they removed committing to open models from their website.

play10:17

So yeah, it seems like they used open source as a marketing tactic to lead up to their

play10:21

big announcement of this model.

play10:22

They released many models up until now, including small 7B models and their Mistral model, which

play10:27

had really interesting outputs calling upon various experts to gather those.

play10:31

But none of that really competed in terms of answering questions, reasoning or code

play10:35

completion with GPT-4.

play10:37

Well, now they are competing.

play10:39

And as you can see in this graph, Mistral is actually doing super well on all the benchmarks

play10:43

that these are measured at.

play10:44

So well that it actually beats out Gemini Pro and Claude's tool here.

play10:48

It has a 32K context window that matches GPT-4.

play10:51

And if we're just judging by the benchmarks, which is usually not the approach you want

play10:54

to take, but when it comes to coding, it actually turns out to be pretty reliable in my experience.

play10:58

You wouldn't want to use this model for coding.

play11:00

For that, GPT-3.5 still performs better and GPT-4 just smashes it.

play11:04

But that's basically common knowledge that for writing code, GPT-4 has been and still

play11:08

is king.

play11:09

But they did something here that they haven't done before, which is release a chat interface.

play11:12

Because they are French, they call it le chat.

play11:15

It's a dark mode by default.

play11:17

It's le chat noir.

play11:18

And then when you make it white, it's le chat Mistral.

play11:20

Excellent.

play11:21

And you know what?

play11:22

This thing is actually completely free to use.

play11:23

So you can just head on over to chat.mistral.ai.

play11:26

Give this a shot yourself.

play11:27

Let me know in the comments what you think about this.

play11:29

And yeah, I'll be giving this thing a proper spin over the course of the next week.

play11:33

Very interesting development.

play11:34

We're getting a lot of models here that are almost as good as GPT-4.

play11:37

Just keep in mind that it's almost a year since GPT-4 released.

play11:40

So it's about time OpenAI make their next move, which I'm excited for.

play11:43

But for now, we'll be looking at the next use case that we can actually access today,

play11:46

which is my last one for today.

play11:48

And remember in the intro when I mentioned that there's a new tool that I actually use

play11:51

daily right now?

play11:52

Well, it's this one.

play11:53

It's called the GigaBrain.

play11:54

And what it does is really simple.

play11:55

It's a really well functioning search engine for Reddit.

play11:59

That's powered by AI.

play12:00

But if you ever found yourself on Google searching for a keyword and adding Reddit to the end,

play12:04

well, you might know that this is decent, but it's not perfect.

play12:07

And the Reddit search function, it's too messy.

play12:10

It pulls from all the subreddits and none of these ways of ranking it really work.

play12:14

And you don't even see inside.

play12:15

You can't see the comments.

play12:16

I personally never found this to be too useful.

play12:19

But the GigaBrain actually solves this.

play12:21

Because if you go ahead and search for something on here, it's going to show you the sources.

play12:24

It's going to give you AI generated TLDR summaries, and then you're going to see all the source

play12:28

threads right here.

play12:29

I really enjoy this interface.

play12:31

You can see all the replies right here.

play12:33

No need to open up the sub pages, right?

play12:35

And if you see one where you're like, yeah, I really want to read this, but this is just

play12:38

too much right now.

play12:40

Well, just toggle this little summarize button.

play12:42

And there you go, you get a nice little bullet point summary of everything going on.

play12:46

And that includes the comments underneath.

play12:47

I mean, how great is that?

play12:49

And it's free.

play12:50

All I needed to do is log in with my Google account.

play12:52

So there you go.

play12:53

I think this was the most colorful week in terms of AI use cases since the beginning

play12:55

of the show three months ago.

play12:57

You can check out the entire playlist if you're looking for even more use cases that came

play13:00

out in the past weeks.

play13:01

And other than that, leave a comment below sharing which one was your favorite today

play13:04

so we know what to cover more.

play13:06

There's a lot to try here until we do this again next Friday.

play13:08

I'll see you there.
