Transcripts
hello there ladies and gentlemen this is
your neighborhood friendly oxhorn and
I'm here to show you how uh forages work
in the Contraptions downloadable content
for Fallout 4 so there are quite a
number of forges that you can create
here's a weapons Forge an armor Forge a
uh just a random junk Builder and an
auto Loom and each of these will
generate a random assortment of items
and I I don't mean random they only
generate from a very specific list so a
weapons Forge will only generate weapons
and it will only generate a very
specific set of weapons now to find out
what they are you need to load it into a
terminal so first let's connect it to
some power we've got to power up the
weapons Forge so that it will
work now you can see that it's
continuing to produce the 10 mm gun that
I programmed it to produce earlier but
we can reprogram it to produce something
else so go to your
terminal
go to your weapon Forge and you can see
all of the different weapons that the
weapon Forge supports as you can see
it's you know just a lot of Base guns
you don't get anything special like the
ability to forge legendaries or anything
like that but let's say I wanted to
build a double barrel shotgun there we
go I now have it set to build double
barrel shotguns it tells me all of the
components I need three adhesive one
gear two oil five screws seven steel and
two wood now that it's set it will
continue uh continue to build bu double
barrel shotguns for as long as I have
supplies you can see that the Press is
continuing to press and the conveyor
belt is continuing to convey and there
we go there's my first double barrel
shotgun on the pile of 10 mm p uh
pistols now um this only works if you
have components inside so go to transfer
and it works like any other container I
basically emptied my workshop and dumped
the entire Workshop into the weapons
Forge just to get give it absolutely
everything cuz I didn't want to have to
go and write down the components for
every single thing that I needed oh
looks like I have a legendary in there I
didn't even realize it um anyway you
fill it up with the desired components
and it'll continue to produce that item
until it runs out of materials and it
will run out of materials and I find
that the production runs on different
Cycles like the 10 mm pistol was pumping
out just one right after another um but
the uh the double barrel shotgun seems
to be going at a little bit slower of a
P now the Builder is used to craft
components that can be used in your Rube
Goldberg machines so I've filled all of
my workshop uh components into the
Builder it's powered by electricity but
we haven't chosen a component yet so
let's go to our connected terminal and
choose the component that we want the
Builder to generate so go to Builder
control and the these are uh all of the
items it can produce steel balls bowling
pins I'm I'm not going to read
everything but it goes all the way down
let's try vault tech uh lunch boxes it
only requires three steel we've chosen
it let's exit and it should start
producing looks like I'm not connected
to electricity let's connect it really
quickly there we
go takes a little bit of time but look
at that wouldn't you know
it vault tech lunch boox this is going
to be useful for generating items that
you can convey Around Your settlement
using the conveyor belt that came with
Contraptions pretty slick now I won't go
through them all because it's fairly
self-explanatory but uh you've got an
Ammunition plant which produces
ammunition you've got an explosives Mill
which produces explosives you've got a
food processor which produces food it
doesn't produce crops it produces
packaged food like blamco mac and cheese
you of course have your weapon Forge
you've got an armor Forge which produces
armor sadly it's not legendary or
interesting it's just basic leather
combat uh so on and so forth and then
you've got your autol loom which uh
creates a variety of different clothing
items stuff that you'd normally find on
a a level one or level two Trader shop
now the junk mortar is pretty
interesting it only fires things that
you actually put inside so I've got some
stuff on the ground here and I'm going
to hold e to manually drop it in which
you know it's
tedious I'm going to put a weight in
there and I've got a gun in there there
we go there we go so I've got a 10 mimet
pistol and then two 10 lb weights so um
what you can do is you can manually set
its trajectory by clicking
activate or you can set its trajectory
by going into the uh console going to
junk mortar control and then choosing
set firing angle uh let's try 0° and see
where that changes
it look it goes straight back up cool
huh well let's uh let's actually have
quite a show so let's turn it around to
uh
45°
that turns it back towards us so that we
can get quite a
show and uh then the other thing that
you can adjust is the force set firing
force it goes all the way from 1 to 10
let's see what the recommended number
five
is so we've set the force to five now it
already fired once so I'm going to
remove
electricity and then reconnect it here
we go ladies and gentlemen
that's it that's what it does all right
let's uh try a few more things I'm going
to fill this back up and then we can
confirmed set it at a higher Force ready
to
serve all right there's some blam comac
and cheese let's go in here or no a brao
cleaner let's go in there let's set the
firing Force to
10
remove the power reattach
power
and what that didn't go nearly as far I
don't get it we set that to 10 and it
just kind of went woo we set it to five
and it
[Music]
goes well let's see what happens if we
set it to
one
all right here we
go oh you're kidding
what oh man that guy needs to see a
doctor okay so there you go that's
the that's the junk mortar that's how it
works pretty cool so uh I mean of course
this can be used in Contraptions by
setting a switch to it and then based on
whatever criteria you can imagine it'll
turn this on and whatever's inside will
explode Away by the the way I've got to
show you this one
thing
[Music]
[Laughter]
whoa let's do it
again so I have it on an interval switch
which is why it's firing over and over
and over again it just uh puts
electricity back on it over and over and
over again on and off wow
[Laughter]
sorry I don't know why this is so funny
to me this shouldn't be
[Music]
so all right all right I'm done I'm done
let's talk about the pitching machine so
this is supposed to launch small objects
when it's powered uh it's fairly
straightforward but you do actually have
to load it with the objects you want it
to shoot so I've got a bunch of small
objects here in the my junk section and
it doesn't specify what small objects
can or cannot be launched so I'm just
going to put in a whole bunch of small
stuff and then let's power it up and see
what
happens that is so great
I think this is my favorite thing so
far hey what's cool about that is you
can put a stack of stuff in there whoa
oh now it's time for Globes so it go it
goes through
it it goes through it all the way down
the line it can launch random junk items
Globes and tin cans and aluminum
canisters and uh acid looks like we went
alphabetical here uh so there you go and
the cool oh now we got alarm clocks
ladies and
gentlemen oh wouldn't it be cool however
look at it update like that it's
updating as it's kicking stuff
out wouldn't it be nice if we could set
something to feed into this now sadly
you can't you do have to manually open
it up and manually give it all of the
junk or components that it's going to
shoot uh that means that it will
eventually run out there's no way to
kind of set up this NeverEnding machine
where you're constantly feeding it with
new items to shoot um and that's a
little bit of a bummer but man that is
really cool so there's that's how the
pitching machine works so there you go
ladies and gentlemen that's how forges
the junk mortar and the pitching machine
work but that's not even close to being
the end of everything new that came with
Fallout Force Contraptions DLC there's a
lot to go over I'm going to make a video
highlighting everything so please stay
tuned for more Contraptions content
check out the the next video in this
series thanks for subscribing and I'll
see you
soon
