there are different types of learning
styles there's uh there is no single
learning style that exists in our
universe or among different kinds of
learners but there are different
learning styles some are in aesthetic

meet the needs of the Learners uh when
we talk about the benefits your learners

and motivating them so that they are not
going to feel bored or become
indifferent students so engaging them in
the process of the learning will really
lead them to be able to participate and

of the characteristics of uh this
pbl the projects you might ask because
it's entitled Project based learning the
projects will be selected so if you talk
about selection criteria the the the
projects that will be there is going to
be selected and may be complex and will
require an investment of time of course

projects also the resources it could be
human resources or it could be Financial
Resources for example if the projects

will take turns or uh prob contribute in

they will be cooking or if they will be
needing
some elements for that particular
activity or they may may be more modest
in a specific scale so the projects
remember will be selected so you could
probably choose a future teacher when

ask your students to choose a specific
project that is in context with the
lesson for the week okay so you might
think what are really this what is
really pbl and what are the examples now
let's let me introduce you to some of
the examples of this pbl and this would
include a weekly menu so a weekly men
menu of healthy serving sizes and dishes
that could be one for example if your
field is on um technology and livelihood
education aside from that it could also
be a healthy recipe so a healthy recipe
book of course that's
uh that will incorporate healthy
versions of Filipino recipes as well as
recipes from their Homeland so you could
ask probably uh one of your student to
bring a recipe uh who lives in Nazareth
okay or it could be uh a recipe coming
from a student who lives in Kos swagan
or a student who
has uh a who
has uh a student with parents who are
from Iloilo or a student coming from
kigin so do they have the same a student
coming from bidon will they be having
the same version of Phil in recipes I'm
sure they will be having different
versions then because they come from
different places and then another one
another example class is a center or a
schoolwide I'm sorry about this one it
the E should be
transferred here so it's a going to be a
schoolwide science spare so you could
also do that okay just transfer the E
over there so a center or a school
worldwide science fair that's one thing
or it could be a video documentary or
PowerPoint presentation about livelihood
and science related topics as they apply
to their immediate families and friends
and also of course in the entire
community so you could do this as a
sample of how you will let your students
perform a Project based learning
activity all right next another one

another example rather is an interactive
website or pamplet about Neighborhood
Health Resources that can be accessed or
distributed to people in the community
and other students so they could create
this uh as another output as apart from
this one it could also be uh a

website uh in which you have some of you
must have done in the previous
activities for this class or in your
other classes it could be an educational
song as well or a theatrical piece to be
performed in front of the audience which
will make um which is made up of
individuals who did not attend the
health literacy so these are further

consulted project ideas should come from
the students so that is um one thing
that I will ask you to do when it comes
to pbl for this particular subject that
the ideas should come from you as
students not from me as your instructor
or as your professor but it should come
from you this ideas and that
additionally uh students should be
encouraged to be creative okay there's
no question with this I've been
repeating in my presentations that you
are so creative and I'm so amazed
so you will as a future teacher then you
will encourage your students to be
creative think outside of the box of
course and then use different media you
have done this also and more than
anything truly create a product that can
be shared with and thought of as useful
these are the characteristics of the
product informative by other community
members who did not attend the health
literacy course so in the context in uh
the context of this examp focus is on a
health literacy
course let's also take a look at um some
of the diagrams or uh a page actually a
page summary a poster you could consider
this as a poster diagram that shows what
is really pbl this is uh the first
example class uh a pbl can look like
this it's like for the gold standard
pbll pbl rather that the seven essential

although they are quite similar to each
other but the comparison can be seen in

for the seven essential project on the
design elements but the blue
one has uh seven project Based Teaching

learning goals because it still has
something to do with the key knowledge

with what is presented here on the
design elements but the the only
difference comes from the items that are

specific activities that we teachers are

practices that we employ in our classes
another one class is that we have the
second model or the second item the

six-step process of pbl so step one is
to define the problem what is really the
problem you your students might
brainstorm step two what is the solution
solution criteria that you will employ
of course in relation to the problem
that you have seen here in the first um
item and then after that solution
research so what research can be done in
order to solve this certain or this
particular problem that you have
identified then pick a solution probably
out of 10 members in your group there
are some who would say that the solution
to the problem in order to Define this
problem really is that you are going to
create this particular training program
and others might disagree so after that
you will pick a solution in order to
really come up with a vital uh six-step
process of the pbl then after picking

elements that are identified according

begin with challenging problem with a
challenging problem so what is the
challenging problem that you could see

group what is really that challenging
problem that you would want to address

sustain or can you continue the kind of
inquiry that you are going to use the
kind of method that you will use in
order to solve this challenging problem
uh you will then discuss after that
check onto the authenticity is it really
a real world problem that you have
chosen so you always have to go back to
the first item then what is your voice
and what is your choice as a group or
what as a group member uh take a look at
what is your voice and what's the
choices that you are going to come up
with when we talk about this challenging
problem from there we proceed into
reflection so that's the time that you
are going to reflect what is really
going to happen if we will have this
kind of inquiry of we
will utilize this kind of method in
order to address the kind of challenging
problem that we were able to identify
for item one and after the reflection
you will then critique or you could

revise then uh you now have a public

product to the community and of course
share it to the rest of the class then

invest on creating your own Christmas
tree using this element so we have the

branches the needles the trunk of course
the lights will be included the
ornaments the
garlands the tinell Garland and thin
cell the tree skirt the tree stand
that's included also so the pine cones
and of course the berries so if you have
this 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 so a
dozen elements of your Christmas tree
what are you going to assign each part
so what concepts are you going to assign
each part of course your uh reference
point is on PDL you could probably
choose which of those key Concepts that
uh were presented in the previous slides
could be a part of your Christmas tree
