🛫 Trip to London with a Surprise
Scott and his son Blair embark on a trip to London from Glasgow Airport, with a primary goal of visiting the Natural History Museum, a long-awaited item on Blair's bucket list. Despite initial concerns about foggy weather and an aircraft downgrade by EasyJet, which offered a €300 compensation for voluntary offload, they manage to proceed with their journey. Scott also teases a surprise for Blair on their return trip. They experience a fortunate seat upgrade to row one due to equipment changes and discuss a quick stop for empanadas before heading to their hotel, the Millennium Hotel Conference Center in Gloucester London, which Scott booked using air miles.
🍽 Exploring London and a Reward for Subscribers
In Vienna, Scott had requested subscribers for a daily email service called 'daily drop,' which provides tips on maximizing points and miles. He celebrates reaching over 300 subscribers and shows off the promised hoodie. The narrative then shifts to their evening in London where Blair recommends dining at Wagamamas, leading to a satisfying meal. They later visit a pub for a nightcap, enjoying the local atmosphere before retiring for the night at their hotel, which Scott describes as corporate yet beautiful.
🏨 A Day at the Natural History Museum and Delays on the Return
The next day, Scott and Blair visit the Natural History Museum, spending about three hours exploring before feeling the need for lunch. They enjoy a meal at an original eatery and then take a touristy train ride via Victoria for selfies. After collecting their bags from the hotel, Scott reveals a surprise to Blair about their first-class train journey back to Glasgow. However, their return is plagued with delays due to a broken-down train, causing them to miss the last train to Glasgow Airport and resulting in a long, rain-soaked walk back to Scott's place from the airport.
🚂 The Long Journey Home with Train Delays
Despite the initial excitement of traveling first class, the journey home is marred by significant delays caused by a broken-down train. The pair finds themselves stuck at various stations, including Preston and Lancaster, with no clear indication of when the tracks will be cleared. They are eventually informed that they are entitled to a full refund due to the extensive delays. The trip concludes with them arriving back in Glasgow over six hours late and facing the prospect of either a long wait for a bus or catching the first train the next morning, ending their adventure on a challenging note.

Transcripts
hi everyone my name is Scott welcome to
plan trains everything and welcome to
Glasgow Airport I'm here with my son
Blair there he is and this trip to
London is all about him he's had
something on his bucket list for years
and tomorrow we cross it off the list
and it's a natural history museum in
London this morning though I got a bit
of a scare we're flying down to sanset
on EasyJet and when I looked out my
window this morning a PE soup fog and I
thought here we go uh I can hardly see
across the road but so far only one
flight this morning has been canceled
out of Glasgow it is an EasyJet flight
it's to B fast so I think we're going to
be okay I also got an SMS and an email
from EasyJet saying hey guess what we've
downgraded the type of aircraft you're
flying on therefore we have too many
passengers not enough space would you
like to voluntarily offload and catch a
later flight we'll pay you €300 per
person and I thought hm EU 261's kicking
in but then I thought no we're a bit uh
a bit rushed for time on this trip will
pass hopefully we won't be forcibly
kicked off right we are going to get
through uh security I'll see you when
we're at
sted little does Blair know I've got a
little surprise planned for him on the
way back
[Music]
that worked out better than
[Music]
expected we were in R 29 but because of
the change of equipment we moved to row
one which is the first for me I've never
been in row one on any aircraft right we
now have to find the stand
[Music]
Express welcome to this service for
London Liverpool Street we will be
calling at Bishop stford harow Town
chess if you see something that doesn't
look right speak to staff or text the
British child
[Music]
we were going to go straight to the
hotel but BL wants to do a quick pit
stop
somewhere I found a place selling
empanadas could not resist
oh
no okay that shop was not my fashion
style and not my price style
either in fact let's put it this way the
cloths didn't actually have prices on
them did you see any prices yeah all
right is that why you knew the t-shir
shots for a couple hundred yeah jeez old
right Green Park Station we're off to
the hotel
now tonight we're staying at the
Millennium Hotel Conference Center
Gloucester London can you imagine being
the person who answers the phone at that
place what a mouthful normal price here
during the week is £237 a night for a
Sunday night which is tonight 117 but
for me it's n cuz I'm using air miles I
we were going to stay at the ibus at
Earl's Court that was going to be £77 a
night and I thought now let's just see
what I can get for avos sure enough free
of charge normal price £ 117 and the
reason why it's half the price on a
Sunday night is because Mondays Tuesdays
Wednesdays Thursdays people stay in
London because of business reasons on
Fridays and Saturdays people come to
London for the theater and for the
shopping no one in their right mind
stays in London on a Sunday
that's why we're here yeah okay let's
get checked
in a guar ooh he's come a long way from
home do you like that one
D this is a triple I think it's a
standard
triple but it will do the
job what do you think of that groovy
groovy feature wall
that'll do
nicely a few weeks ago I was in Vienna
and I asked you great people to sign up
to an email service called daily drop
you get a daily email showing you how to
maximize points and miles from the
different schemes which are out there I
needed 18 more people to subscribe I
would reach the 100 subscriber Mark and
would get a hoodie and ladies and
gentlemen I promised you I'd wear it and
this is the hoodie quite don't you
think with the daily drop logo on it I'm
not sure if actually goes with the
shorts or not but the bottom line is
this is really really warm and I don't
think I'm going to be wearing it for a
little while yet but guaranteed you will
see me wearing this over the forthcoming
winter so thanks everyone who subscribed
instead of just getting 18 people I've
got over 300 so thank you very much to
everyone who actually subscribed to this
system thanks
again so what does this price give you
in regards to
review

went for a walk around the hotel
beautiful looking hotel it is a fourstar
property it is very very much corporate
but it's a beautiful place we tried to
get into the atrium the the main uh
convention area we couldn't get in the
doors are locked we might try and have a
look tomorrow when there's a bit more
light but anyway we shall see you in the
morning good morning everyone very
comfortable beds but very warm room as
per usual I found it really warm in fact
Blair found it warm as well and we had
to open the window which of course being
a rooftop view meant that we could hear
the air conditioners from other rooms as
well so it took a little while to drop
off to sleep but we finally got there um
8:00 this morning bang thump bang bang I
don't know what was going on next door
but there's a lot of banging going on
okay I've had a shower Bliss having his
we're going to take off at our round
about 10:00 this morning because we're
going to the Natural History Museum and
our tickets are from
10:30 before we leave there's one thing
I'd like to see Anda
Conservatory right I think we should go
to the Natural History Museum there
a
[Music]
[Music]
that was the Natural History Museum
we're there for what about 3 hours yeah
yeah legs are starting to get sore and
the stomach's empty so it's time for
[Music]

it oh yeah is hot wow

do something very touristy so do you

then we're going to go to Houston for a
little
surprise okay bags collected we're off
to Houston
Station I ended up telling Blair Bo the
uh the first class up to Glasgow he
wasn't overly Keen about 4 and 1/ half
hours on a train but when I told him we
were going first class he seemed to
brght up a little bit you know Lone Jack
s meals uh drinks yeah he's a bit
happier
now is that right there the first class
guy this a
no Che
[Music]
welcome on
[Music]
board that's
scary
welcome West Coast service to
[Music]
so here we are at uh Preston station and
Blair's drinking wine which is not
permitted on the platform he's breaking
the law breaking the law breaking the
law good news and bad news the bad news
is we're at Preston not because we're at
Preston but up ahead There's A Train
That's broken down broken down somewhere
between lockerby and and car stairs it's
an Avanti West Coast service and as far
as I know it might be the best part of 2
hours ahead of us and every single
station has got a delayed of an train
we've now been here for how long have we
been here now just about an hour and a
quarter almost um there's no sign of the
train being cleared yet so we just have
to hang around that's why we're chilling
here on the platform at Preston the good
news is we're going to be more than an
hour late so we'll get a full refund
[Music]
well we're still here at Lancaster we
arrived here about 3 hours ago we've
been on the goal for 6 7 7 and 1/2 hours
we've still got another 2 hours to go if
we start moving but there are still
trains ahead of us which are just
sitting at stations who knows what time
we'll get back into Glasgow butt on
miners Blair and I have missed the last
train there are buses from banan bus
station to Glasgow Airport but uh at
this rate we'll probably be catching the
first train of the day out of Glasgow
Central tomorrow morning
[Music]
well that's us back into Glasgow Central
about 6 and 1/4 hours late which isn't
too bad for a trip from London to
Glasgow um our adventure actually hasn't
finished yet because being 20 Past 4 in
the morning there's no trains out of
Glasgow Central and apparently the uh
taxi situation here is chronic so we're
going to catch a bus to Glasgow Airport
and walk from there back to my place
play will stay over at my place and get
home sometime tomorrow morning uh it is
pouring with rain so it's an absolutely
miserable end to this trip
but thanks thanks for coming along with
us anyway and I'll see you next time
