uh
the department of
philosophy was started in Tandra College
it uh it is just the uh uh in
the
yeah and uh so far I know the the first
person who
taught philosophy in the teach College
God
man uh who is Who was the father of some
doctor here the
PST and
uh and
uh then in in
1956 College of Education
started this College of Education is the
College of teacher
education that is
the teachers were being t uh I mean
trained in this college and it is it was
the College of
Education
where I think the first time
Psychology was taught as a science
before that psychology was taught as a
part of philos
philosophy the mind philos I mean
science of mind or science of Soul like
that not at a science of
behavior as we teach psychology these
days and the first person who taught
psychology
in College of Education
pran uh I mean not
ji uh no he is no more in this world uh
you know he t for two or three years
then he went to United States and he
settled over there in uh he he started
then as a clinical psychologist there
and uh uh Rose Dr Rose and uh he you
know he wrote wrote a book book as
uh uh
Democratic renovation in Nepal it's a
pol uh uh it's a book on politics in
Neal
Rose uh Dr Rose and
Joshi uh two persons the authors persons
wrote on this book and uh Ji he settled
there he taught in berky University in
California and he died this the two
three decades
back then uh he was replaced by
Dr P pran who also is no more here
now me is the third person who I mean TS
psychology in Nepal I should
say then after that you know
psychology uh
began uh
in uh morm College in Brad nagar and in
janakpur and so on uh these colleges are
still there
and uh and the the first batch
uh in then masters of uh Masters in
Master's courses in Psychology began in
19 he was the first person so when it
was
started 81
50 no 1980
808 and
uh who was the the
taaa was the
chairman uh chairperson of the uh that
department in Psychology so it was in
that
way but I was
uh trying to say to you that
psychology
was a philosophy
in the beginning now it is being taught
as
a science science of
behavior science of
mind
uh you
know it uh the history of
psychology in
Nepal you know uh in the beginning
philosophy then science
and even right now you know uh I mean uh
it is
still a part of
pure pure psychology only theoretical
psychology I would
say we could not
develop the application part the applied
side of psychology as it
and it is because of this I think
psychology could
not be
popular as it should have
been you know sociology started just
just said two year uh two decades back
and it's start the psychology four uh
decades back but still psychology could
not develop as sociology and
anthropology
developed why I think it is
because we are teaching psychology only
not trying how it could be used in Day
to-day Life how it could be used in
different
fields of
life you know uh there are psychologist
working in public service Comm Mission
but they are just administ I mean
working as
administrators as Clarks in the I mean
commission not as a
psychologist you know as I should say
they should have
developed how to test how to I mean uh
find
out
the
the uh the the
capacity the the
attitude the I mean uh the behavioral
characteristics of the
candidates who are going to be
administrators in different ministries
of Nepal the Public Service Commission
uh the very purpose of public uh Public
Service Commission is to find
out whether a person should be able to
carry out his duty when he is placed in
some some I mean uh force in ministries
different ministri
but we we know
how uh how how the administration in
Nepal is being carry these days the the
persons who are
working in different postes in and
different
Ministries are not doing as they should
have
been and it is because of this that we
are not
getting people are not getting Services
as they expect from
different people in the
Ministries so
I
I feel
that we should not just I mean see
the theoretical part the academic side
but we are we should focus now more on
professional professional part of
psychology we should try to use apply
the
theories which we know so far in
different fields of life in testing in I
mean applic military you know uh uh
psychologist being uh uh being demanded
in
Army know uh in uh different fields in
Industries in uh in I mean
uh
and advertisement and SW so many fields
are there
that we are not developing our uh
developing uh the skill of applying so 5
minutes left uh psychology in these
practical pH and it is because of
this probably that we are not
getting
responses
were we should have expected that we we
are trying to do we are trying to I mean
to see that I mean psychology should be
useful the people should respond to
psychology psychology favorably but we
are not getting that sort
of me uh response from the people as you
expect this this is what I feel and it's
you
know I was not expecting
that I will be asked to present this I
just said I will just par I will just
listen
so
uh it may not be as organized I should
have been but but this is
what came came out in my mind and I just
said that this
is so okay
