🌍 Embrace Language Immersion for Fluency
Learning English fluently isn't about quick fixes; it's a marathon that requires immersion. Immersion involves surrounding yourself with the language, ideally by living in a country where it's spoken natively. However, for those unable to travel, adapting your lifestyle to include daily or weekly language exposure is crucial. This video introduces five steps to help you immerse yourself in English and become fluent, starting with regular input from listening to podcasts and reading materials suitable for your level.
📚 Smart Vocabulary Memorization Techniques
Traditional vocabulary memorization can be tedious and ineffective, often leading to frustration. Instead, focus on relevant content that interests you and aligns with your life, making learning more enjoyable and memorable. The use of spaced repetition, as featured in live XP’s word trainer, enhances retention by revisiting challenging words regularly. Creating your own flashcards from difficult words or phrases encountered in readings or audio materials further personalizes the learning experience, ensuring better recall and faster vocabulary expansion.
📝 Keep a Diary in English to Boost Your Skills
Writing regularly in English, even about mundane daily activities, can significantly improve your language skills. This practice not only helps you process new words and phrases but also builds confidence for conversations. Over time, you’ll see progress in structuring sentences and overall writing fluency. The key is consistency, writing about topics that interest you, and not fearing mistakes. This reflective practice enhances your ability to think in English, making speaking more natural and less intimidating.
💬 Find a Purpose: Speak with Real People
While technology offers many tools for learning, the goal of language acquisition is communication with real people, not just software. Building relationships with native speakers or fellow learners online is essential, especially if you don’t have access to English speakers locally. Live XP offers opportunities to connect with professional teachers who share your interests, making learning more engaging and effective. Having a personal connection and enjoying your classes keeps you motivated, helping you to stay on track toward fluency.
🚀 Overcoming the Intermediate Plateau
Once you’ve reached a certain level of proficiency, it’s common to feel stuck or to struggle with persistent mistakes. The solution is to identify and focus on your specific weak areas. Live XP offers a tailored approach where you can assess your English level, receive personalized exercises, and address your unique challenges. By integrating structured learning with active practice, such as booking lessons to use new vocabulary and grammar, you can break through this plateau and continue progressing toward fluency.
🎯 Achieve Your English Learning Goals with Live XP

By using the platform’s resources, including tailored content and personal lessons, you can accelerate your language learning journey. Transcripts
do you want to know how to speak English
fluently well guess what so do a lot of
other
people unfortunately there's no one
answer quick solution to this question
despite what some online English
teachers might tell you learning English
or any language actually is a marathon
and not a
Sprint okay but what is the best way to
become fluent in any language well
through immersion what does immersion
mean learning a language through
immersion means completely surrounding
yourself with the language that you want
to learn often this means that you have
to move to a country where that language
is spoken natively in the case of
English this could be countries like the
USA the UK Canada Australia and so on
okay but I can't afford to travel to
another country just to learn a language
and that's why it's so important that
you adapt your lifestyle and start to
introduce some daily or weekly
activities that help you to absorb a
language just like immersion would in
this video I'm going to share with you
five great steps that you can start
doing today and will help you to become
fluent in English are you ready let's go
okay step one input input refers to
exposure that Learners have to authentic
language in use in my case as I'm
learning Spanish and I live in Spain
input could be when I'm walking around
the streets and I'm overhearing people's
conversations in Spanish by accident
obviously or when I go to a restaurant I
read the menu in Spanish so I'm
obtaining new words or phrases in your
case you need to start listening and
reading in English on a daily basis of
course from the comfort of your own home
there's nothing better than listening to
a podcast in English just to name a few
there's English with Luke which has been
around for ages I think the last time I
checked he has around 800 episodes so
there's a lot to get through and also he
speaks with such a clear voice it will
be great for you to understand oh and on
top of that he often invites guests to
his podcast who have different accents
and that'll be great for your listening
skills if you're looking for something a
little bit more structured I highly
recommend PBC 6 Minute English as you
can tell from the title it's only 6
minutes long so it'll be quite easy for
you to listen to it multiple times and
every episode comes with a transcript so
you can follow along and improve your
reading skills the difficult thing is it
can take some time for you to find a
podcast or an article that is suitable
for your level a great solution to save
you a lot of time would be to use live
XP on their website they use AI to find
specific reading and listening material
that's suitable for your level of
English whether you're a beginner with
A1 A2 or something more advanced with C1
or C2 after you have read an article or
listened to an audio there are some
exercises which will check your
comprehension it will see how much
you've understood as well as reinforcing
any new phrases or vocabulary anyway
make sure to watch this video Until step
five live where I will go into more
detail about how this works on live XP
and how it can be really beneficial for
you to become fluent in
English step two memorizing vocabulary
traditionally students are taught how to
do this in a very painful way and that's
probably why you've given up on multiple
occasions I mean who wants to read
through long lists of words especially
when there's little to no chance of you
actually using them and that's why when
you think back to step one and step two
you need to read or listen to something
that's actually relevant to your life in
Spanish for example I'm not reading
about space exploration or engineering
because I just don't find it interesting
and I'm not going to talk about it with
my friends if I did my motivation to
study Spanish would just disappear and
ultimately I would stop learning Spanish
on top of that studies show that 1 hour
after learning something new you can
only remember about 40% of that new
information after 1 week you can only
recall 20% or less what helps to retain
new information is going back to it
regularly live xp's word trainer uses
space repetition so you can focus on
words that you find hard to remember
instead of going over all the vocabulary
this way you won't get bored by
repeating the words that you already
know also when you read the article
or listen to an audio or do the
exercises from step one on live XP any
words that you find difficult or phrases
that you find difficult you can take
them and put them into the flash card so
you're basically making your own flash
cards and why is this so much better
than just downloading flashcards or just
downloading a PDF of lists of words it's
better because you are being more active
in the process you're creating your own
materials and this way you will
definitely remember the words because
you remember the process it's like a
journey so it's always better to use
live xp's word trainer take the words
from the article or the audio that you
don't remember or you find difficult put
them in the word trainer and then start
to practice going over them repeating
multiple times you will definitely
expand your vocabulary very very quickly
step three keep a diary in English it
doesn't have to be groundbreaking
exciting news just write about your day
describe your day or your week or just
write your opinions on a certain topic
it could be about a hobby you have an
interesting article you've read or just
about your weekend plans think about
speaking English as running and writing
as walking you wouldn't learn to run
before or you can walk right writing
your thoughts out on paper helps your
mind to process new words or phrases
giving you more confidence to use them
in conversations this practice also
improves your ability to structure
sentences as well as improving your
writing skills overall and don't worry
about making mistakes the key is to
write regularly and to keep challenging
yourself over time you'll see
significant progress in your fluency and
feel more comfortable in the language
step four give yourself a true purpose
to learn a language speak with a human
okay what do I mean by this well
technology is great you know it really
helps us to advance but do you really
learn English to speak with a little
green bird I don't think so you want to
speak with a human right that's why it's
fundamental that you establish a
friendship with somebody in English you
may argue rightly that it's very hard in
the country or place where you live to
find native English speakers or just
other people who are learning English
well you need to use the internet I
remember going through the same process
myself when I wanted to learn Japanese
there just weren't any Japanese speakers
in my Village so what I did was take
some classes online and this is what you
should do too live XP offers you the
opportunity to take online classes with
professional teachers and native
speakers I'm myself have taken classes
on live XP with teachers from South
America to learn Spanish and Portuguese
and what I really love is that you can
choose a teacher not only on their
experience and their location but also
on their interests this means you can
find a teacher that you can relate to
and of course this makes you more
enthusiastic to speak in class we've all
had classes where the teacher explains
something and you just don't get it they
have a different perspective so to
maintain Ain a high level of motivation
it's important that you enjoy the
classes you enjoy the process of
learning a language that way you won't
feel like quitting or giving up and you
will achieve the level of fluency that
you are looking for it's all about being
consistent and not giving up and this
can be helped when you have a
conversation with somebody that you
enjoy you enjoy spending time with them
you enjoy the topics that they enjoy
talking about that's why it's great on
live XP where you can find a teacher
with similar interest to yourself and
step five the intermediate Plateau so
you've been speaking for a while and
you're able to have conversations in
English but you still feel like you're
making lots of mistakes this is because
you haven't identified what you need to
improve on everyone is different and we
all make different mistakes how can you
fix this simple you need to check your
level of English otherwise you won't
know what areas of English to work on in
order to reach fluency you might find
that you have problems using the present
perfect or maybe you find it difficult
pronouncing the th sound in certain
words well on live XP they have a test
that you can take to check your level of
English you can see a number of grammar
or vocabulary questions here and then at
the end it will give you your score
after that the the AI will generate a
tailored course for you to work on and
correct the mistakes that you
specifically make I think this is really
important when it comes to fluency
because on live XP you have everything
in one place when you're studying by
yourself it can be tricky because you
don't know where to go you don't know
what direction to take with your
language learning on your journey to
learn English but on live XP
everything's in one place and it's
tailored to your needs they're going to
look at what mistakes you make you have
articles or audio or listening practice
that's suitable for your level right so
you can see here here's some examples
this is the audio it is known for its
Lively atmosphere here's an
article and then you got some challenges
you have some comprehension questions
where you have to fill in the spaces
again reinforcing any vocabulary that
you've picked up from the audio the
listening or the reading once you've
looked at obtaining new words or phrases
you've looked at the input part of
learning a language you can book a
lesson with a teacher this means that
you're going to start actively using the
vocabulary or the new phrases or the new
grammar and that way it's going to stick
in your brain it's going to you're going
to be start to use it and feel more
confident using it because your using it
it's like going to the gym you can watch
videos about how to exercise but you
need to actually go to the gym live XP
is a online gym but for English you can
study by yourself and then also study
with a teacher you have the passive and
the active part of learning a language
I'll put two links in the description
below the first one is a trial class for
only 99 so it's a win-win you can find a
teach teacher that you like and when you
have found the teacher that you like you
can look at the second link which will
give you 30% off any subscription so go
and get your personal plan and progress
to the next level with oneon-one lessons
and customize exercises that's
everything for this video I hope you
found the five steps to be really useful
and let me know about your journey to
fluency in the comments below smash the
like button and I'll see you next time
