another video and I'm today I'm making a

video which I I have to give you just

some fair warning in advance you may

need a box of Kleenex uh by the side of

your laptop whilst you're watching this

video which I know for some of you may

not be a problem because you already

keep cleanex by the side of your laptop

when you're watching videos uh but I

don't think you do it very often for

this kind of video now uh when I say

this kind of video what I mean guys is

today I'm going to talk to you and I'm

going to show you some scratches on

watches and how I think we all need to

maybe chill out a little

bit okay guys so yeah as I said I just

want to talk about the subject of are

you babying your watch maybe a bit too

much are you sort of being a little bit

too precious with your watch and I've

had a few comments uh over over quite a

long period of time actually about uh

people getting a little bit upset

sometimes with the way I place my

watches a bit like this really the way I

place my watch you know just down on a

hard surface like this with the case

back just facing down on the clasp and I

just want to dispel one myth guys one

myth about the fact that this might

scratch the case back it doesn't uh and

just actually quick wristatch check I'm

wearing my my GMT Master 2 my Rolex GMT

Master 2 Riddler right now I'm going to

take this watch off in a minute and show

you uh some of the in terrible damage

I've inflicted on the watch case of this

GMT Master 2 uh in the year and a bit

that I've had it but first I just want

to show you these two watches guys so

these two watches are a couple of couple

of very nice uh

Amigas on the left hand side here we

have the Amiga 2254.50 C Master commonly

referred to as the Peter Lake uh it's a

lovely watch I I refer to this as Pierce

broen's watch that he wears at the

weekends when he's not being James Bond

uh and this is kind of a bond era watch

too as well this is a 2008 courtz as you

can see there's a nice little tick tock

tick tock courtz going on there uh this

is a sea Master this is a 36 mil sea

Master this one is uh a slight upgrade

from the classic Bond or classic Pierce

broen Bond sea master and that this one

is actually more of a Casino Royale

Daniel Craig era sea Master if you

remember in Casino Royale he wore an

updated version of the Pierce broen sea

master and it had uh it did have an

updated movement uh albeit uh you know

what I notice straight away is the fact

that the indices are trying and get a

bit closer there for you the uh the

indices here the markers they've

actually uh they're actually in Loom

pots rather than just stamped Loom uh

they're actually in Loom pots on this

watch and it does make it very nice it

just shows off lovely there so here you

go two lovely bonda watches now guys I

place these two watches down here like

this and all of a sudden lots of you

guys suddenly get upset because you're

saying are you're scratching the case

back Mark well of course no uh and I'll

tell you why it's because when you place

a watch like this down and here's a good

demonstration of it it's resting the

case back is elevated it's actually

resting here and here so the bracelet is

taking all the

load therefore the case back and the

unders of this clasp are not in contact

with each other uh so therefore there is

no damage guys uh this is the way this

watch gets put down this is the way this

watch gets put down and it's the same

scenario put this watch down and there

you go there's another demonstration

there uh the case back and the and the

underside of this bracelet here uh can't

make contact because the contact is

being made uh at the corners there so

therefore guys I just wanted to to spell

that myth case backs don't get scratched

when you place them down like that they

don't and also before you say oh but

you're scratching the clasp Mark well

there you go here's uh here's the clasp

uh and this is how I put this watch down

I've I've had this watch many months now

it has just come back from a service and

a and a slight groom but that was what

two months ago and I've been placing it

every day I've been placing it down on

the class Pier can you see any damage

there guys can you see anywhere I can't

uh so guys yeah look um just uh the the

main thing is you know when you're

putting your watch down and I know I'm

preaching to the converted for most of

you is just put it down gently I mean

that's the thing and we're talking about

a steel uh piece of equipment here it's

not necessarily going to scratch or get

damaged easily if you're gentle with it

if you're

careful so uh interestingly guys I just

wanted to show you I'll just take my

Rolex off now and I'll show you this so

and forgive me because I haven't

polished these with a microfiber cloth

so you might see some smudges on these

when I'm showing them to you and uh just

little piece of advice for those um who

who haven't been uh caught out by this

before is be very very careful guys when

you're using a microfiber cloth or any

cloth uh to polish your watch to get rid

of fingerprint marks because the easiest

way for you to put scratches on these

lovely polished sides is to polish is to

rub them hard with a cloth it really is

unless this cloth is absolutely minty

and hasn't got the tiniest bit of lint

or or dirt or sand or or anything

abrasive that can easily get clogged

into the pores of this cloth if this

cloth isn't absolutely perfect and

you've got a tiny tiny little bit of

almost microscopic kind of bit of sand

in there or or heaven forbid you know a

tiny little piece of glass or something

like that then you're just going to rub

it in rub it into these beautiful

polished sides and you're going to make

it worse uh than if you just left it

alone so uh so guys yeah look again uh

this watch I've worn this a lot uh I put

it down

I put it down like this every day every

night when I take it off uh so as you

can see there's no damage going to occur

there on the underside of the case back

and there's no damage going to occur on

the underside of the clasp because there

is no contact the contact is all here

isn't it really uh the contact is here

so here's my uh here's here's my clasp

here and you can see oh my God guys oh

jeez I might have to get the kleenex out

and have a little cry uh yeah look at

that I've got some I've got some tiny

little micro scratches on my

bracelet oh my goodness I think I'm do

you think I need to send it in for a

groom you know pay a couple of hundred

dollars and get this groomed get these

tiny little micro scratches groomed out

heaven forbid guys you know I mean

that's just taking like three grand off

of the resale value isn't it just just

that alone so these guys for me and and

I'm being sarcastic for those of you who

don't know me um I am being very cynical

self-defecating

self-deprecating not self-defecating

that's a completely different um oh no

take take that Vision out of your mind

self-deprecating sense of

humor and uh that's funny I'm not going

to cut that out I'm just going to leave

it in uh butth yeah guys uh this adds to

the character this is this is the thing

this this adds to the character of the

watch these little bits of damage here I

see there's a little couple of little

scratches there where I've probably

caught it I'll tell you the worst um the

worst way my watches get damaged my

clasps get damaged uh is I've actually

got an Apple MacBook and they're made of

a very hard aluminium and I quite often

sort of run my wrist across it of course

to tap on the keys you know when I'm

responding to a comment on my YouTube

channel or I'm you know taking I've just

taken a a wrist shot and I'm putting it

on Facebook you know like you do and

I'll quite often just run the clasp

across the top of the keyboard there and

that's that's probably where most of

these scratches have come from to be

fair will I ever get these polished out

do you know what I'm certainly not going

to try and polish them out myself

perhaps when this watch goes in for a

service in 10 years time uh I might uh I

might let them polish those out but

honestly guys I think it adds to the

character of the watch you know I mean

who wants to Baby their watch really and

speaking of baby and watches guys I've

got to show you this uh so this um uh

for those of you uh who haven't seen my

review because I've done a review on

this watch it's not actually running at

the moment because it's out of rotation

let's get it running shall we uh there's

no point in me showing you a a lovely

watch like this if it's not even running

so let's just give it a little wind this

is a a Rolex sea dweller

sd43 and uh this this particular watch

I've had I'm just trying to think how

how long I've had this now I've had this

for about three or four years notice how

I've given that about 15 or 20 WIS now

and it's still the second's hand still

isn't ticking that scares The Living

Daylights out of me sometimes and you

give it a little tap like that and off

it goes uh yeah and that's not you used

to be able to have to do that to a car

you know to a knacked old car you know

give it a whack with a hammer in the

right place you know to get the starter

motor uh kind of unlocked but um not

uncommon uh with with any watch actually

by the way to have to give it 20 25 WIS

and quite often a little tap uh just to

get it moving again just to overcome the

friction uh that uh that the mechanical

movement obviously has and has to

overcome uh but yeah I wanted to show

you this watch uh this is an sd43 SE

dweller i' now I bought this watch um

for myself in I'm trying to think I

think it was 2021 early

2021 and uh my wife loves this watch I

mean and this is a big watch guys this

is a listen to that

Co I got to say guys I think that is the

loveliest bezel click that I've got uh

that I've had of any watch uh anyway I

digress because my wife really loved

this watch and my wife has she's quite

dainty she's got I don't know I haven't

measured her wrist but I'd say it's six

inches Max maybe even slightly under uh

but she she loves this watch and she she

wears it she wears it frequently so this

watch is almost become hers now to the

point where I've resized it for her and

it no longer fits my wrist I think that

was probably her intention at some point

somewhere along the line maybe I should

put it on a NATO or or a rubber and then

we can both wear it but uh anyway 2021

so this watch is just over 3 years old

and it's picked up some some nice little

bits of wear mostly from her by the way

there's a nice little I'm not going to

call that a ding but I'm going to say

that that's a that's a an abrasion

that's that's no longer a just a scratch

or a or a micro scratch that's an

abrasion that's been picked up there uh

there's a lot of little micro scratches

as you can see I'm just trying to catch

these in the light so that you can see

them they're very faint really lots of

little micro scratches little abrasion

there uh the corners are still nice and

sharp what else has she done I haven't

looked at this watch for a little while

what else has she done to it uh that's

looking that's looking pretty good so

yeah all in all guys and she she wears

this hard she wears this heavily uh

she's got an office job but she's also

quite often out in the field and she's

she's out in the field with a with a um

like a laptop you know which she's

probably rubbing up against the side of

the laptop constantly so as you can see

here look at those lovely little

scratches across there oh I'm going to

have to get the kleenex out again guys

I'm going to start crying in a minute oh

my God look at that terrible hey

terrible little terrible little

abrasions there and scratches on this um

on this tool watch on this very

expensive tool watch which is designed

to go down to you know how many meters

guys oh 1,200 MERS uh depth rating and

I've got these terrible scratches on it

I mean definitely a Kleenex moment this

isn't it uh but all in all guys again

I'm being sarcastic um and I'm being a

little bit ironic it's it's hold it's

holding up well and if I'm going to be

honest with you guys I think it's got

character I I do want to say uh first

and foremost if there is any scratches

on this case back I'm going to I'm going

to have a word uh there's a little

there's a little scratch there and now I

reckon cuz my wife is a little bit more

Reckless than I am uh when she's she's

throwing her watches around when she

takes them off I reckon yeah she may

have just done that when she was taking

it off at some point and possibly the

The Edge the edge here of this clasp is

maybe DED uh on on there just catch it

in the light there you see just see that

that's it I mean would that rub out

absolutely I could probably rub that out

if I wanted to but uh but no no cuz then

you're going to ruin the grain of the

case bag nice little bit of character

going on there guys uh so yeah other

than that look this um you know this

case back's in in really really nice

Condition it's a three and a bit year

old watch now I suppose um lovely watch

anyway so this this watch has been worn

hard it's picked up a few abrasions am I

worried about it no not really it's just

um it's just all part of the deal isn't

it when you're when you're wearing a

wristwatch now guys I want to finish I

want to finish uh with this bad boy this

this absolute stonker of a watch now

this is a king Seiko and the reason I've

left it on uh on here uh there's a very

specific reason this guys this watch is

older than me this is a 55y old watch

I'm not entirely sure that this watch

has ever been polished you can see

there's quite a lot of abrasion there on

the what is the original uh clasp there

uh the bracelets in great condition I

don't think this has been polished guys

I think that the marks on this watch are

all pretty much original it may have had

the tiniest of Grooms at some point

during you know the early days of a

service but um yeah this is a 55y old

watch guys July

1969 uh this watch was cased it's a king

Seiko day day look at that gorgeous

started ticking on its own there look

ready to go and um guys look um look at

the case back look at the look at the

case back these these these Kings seos

and these older Vintage Grand seos they

put these gold medallions uh in the

center of the case back there stunning

absolutely love that I think that is

class I love it but again look there's

there's hardly any scratches or wear at

all uh to the case back here this watch

has been well kept again uh I put this

one down I'm not going to scratch that

case back guys with this clasp if I just

put it down gently like that I'm not

going to I'm not going to scratch

anything it's just the it's literally

just the uh the bracelet links that are

basically supporting the watch when it's

sat there and uh they're picking up any

abrasion so I'm not worried about that

at all uh guys uh one one last tip

really one last piece of advice uh is

with regards to how you store your

watches now this one as you can see is

stored on one of these kind of I don't

know it's like a fake velor uh kind of

holder really and this actually has

poppers in because it stick it pops into

the actual case itself now I love these

I love the cushion I love the cushion

effect on these there's a lot of give

what that means is that when I'm putting

the watch on I can actually I can I can

slip it on and uh and you know the

cushion is going to absorb uh the watch

to a point where the watch is nice and

steady what I hate guys I love these

these cushion uh these cushion cases

what I hate is these now the worst of

these now this is just leather there's

ly any give in this at all it's very

rigid uh and if I take this sleeve off

it's far too small so let me give you an

example let me let me stick my uh let me

stick the old Rolly on here if I stick

it on here now guys no good right no

good it's just going to fall straight

off cuz it's this is the woman's size so

what they do is uh they put a sleeve

they and this is what a mea do right and

the reason I'm showing you this is

because this is exactly what Amiga do

they put this sleeve on so you You'

either got small um or you've got large

so now I put this on now bear in mind I

got a 7.2 in wrist when I when I start

to tighten this up I'm starting to

create a lot of a lot of pressure around

here it only just goes on guys I'm I'm

basically putting this entire bracelet

under a fair amount of pressure uh

because I've had to squeeze it around

this tight leather sleeve which has very

little given it I don't like these guys

I I don't use them I don't use these at

all and this is this is the thing that I

really dislike about the Amiga uh

packaging is I love I love their faux

wooden cases I love the presentation

appearance but I hate the fact that they

use these because I actually think that

in the long term what you're going to do

basically guys is you're just going to

stretch your bracelet and that would be

a travesty wouldn't it oh actually

speaking of travesty guys oh my goodness

look at oh Klean x moment Kleenex moment

guys look I've got a couple of little

scch is there uh on the bracelet on the

polished bit as well oh dear dear

terrible ter I might have to send it in

for a groom just because of that

actually what do you think so guys yeah

look I I don't like these uh and I don't

recommend uh that anybody uses them I

recommend that you use these uh these

cushions that have got a lot of uh give

in them and they'll just basically

absorb uh the uh the diameter or the

circumference if you like of of the

strap really nicely they'll give it just

enough friction for it to hold in place

without stretching it and that's why I

really like

these so yeah guys I mean that's pretty

much the end of the video I've got all

these watches going now and I'm not sure

which I want to put on for the rest of

the day I think I'll probably go back to

the righ and and stick the Ry back on

even though you know I've got a Kleenex

moment uh that I found a couple of new

scratches on the bracelet which is

probably going to drive some of you

sensationally mad uh but there you go

guys just a few little tips and a few

little ideas um and a few little pieces

of of you know my uh my advice on how to

just be careful really I mean don't get

upset when you get a scratch on your

watch guys I mean I'm being sarcastic

about this whole subject because it's I

mean we really are delving into first

world problems now aren't we but um

enjoy your watches guys be gentle with

them be careful with them but uh don't

go stick don't go putting stickers on

the clasps and you don't don't go

getting all upset when you get a little

scratch on your clasp look at this watch
