करता हूं मित्रों आज आपको हम इस कड़ी में
बताएंगे कि भारत में पत्रकारिता की शुरुआत
कैसे हुई और खासकर हिंदी पत्रकारिता की
अलख कैसे जगाई गई आपको याद होगा कि देश
में जब ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के अधिकारी अपनी
मनमानी और गैर जिम्मेदाराना करतूतें कर
रहे थे तभी उन्हीं के बीच से एक विरोध का
स्वर उठा यह 1780 का समय था जब एक अंग्रेज
व्यापारी नहीं ऐसे शासकों को बेनकाब करने
के लिए पत्रकारिता का सहारा लिया यह थे
जेम्स अगस्ट हिक्की जिन्होंने बंगाल गजेट
नामक चार प्रश्नों का एक पूरा अखबार
निकाला जिसमें ब्रिटिश कंपनी के काले
कारनामों को उजागर किया जाने लगा हिक्की
चक स्वभाव से जिद्दी तो थे ही और समझौता
ना करने की उन्होंने कसम खा रखी थी यही
बातें अंग्रेज अधिकारियों को चुभती थी और
इसके बाद उन्होंने अपने तेवरों में
बिल्कुल ढील नहीं दी बंगाल गजट को
कहीं-कहीं पर कोलकाता गजट और कोलकाता जनरल
एडवरटाइजर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है
वास्तव में हिकी साहब भारत में व्यापार
करने तो आए थे लेकिन खरीद फरोख्त के इस
धंधे में उन्हें निराशा ही हाथ लगी उनकी
पूंजी खर्च हो गई और व्यापार में उन्हें
काफी घाटा हो गया चूंकि कर्ज वह चुका नहीं
पाए थे इसलिए मुकदमों के संजाल में फंसते
चले गए और अंततः उन्हें जेल हो गई जेल का
जीवन उनकी जिंदगी में एक बदलाव लेकर आया
और तत्कालीन जेलर से उनकी दोस्ती वहां
किताबों का ढेर और उनको पढ़ना उनको एक नई
बौद्धिक दिशा में ले गया यहीं से
पत्रकारिता करने का कीड़ा उनके दिमाग में
घुसा और उन्होंने ठान लिया कि अब वह अखबार
निकाल कर ही दम लेंगे जेल से छूटने के बाद
हिक्की ने कलकाता में ही प्रेस लगाया और
अपनी पत्रकारिता की शुरुआत की वे भ्रष्ट
अंग्रेज अधिकारियों के खिलाफ आग उगलने लगे
हिक्की का विरोध भी होने लगा और उन्हें
मुकदमों की धमकियां मिलने लगी हिक्की ने
अंग्रेज अधिकारी कियर नाडर पर खूब हमले
किए और इतना ही नहीं उन्होंने तत्कालीन
गवर्नर जनरल वारेन हेस्टिंग्स को भी नहीं
बख उनकी पत्नी के विरोध में भी उन्होंने
लेखनी चलाई विरोध का स्वर बढ़ता गया उन पर
दबाव बनता गया और इतना दबाव बनता गया कि
उनको यह कहना पड़ा कि मैं जुल्म के खिलाफ
आवाज बुल करना हरगिज नहीं बंद करूंगा भले
ही मेरा अखबार बंद कर दिया जाए मैं
प्रख्यात कवि होमर की कविताएं लिखूंगा और
लिख लिखकर उन्हें सड़कों पर गाऊंगा
गुनगुना आंगा कविताओं की पुस्तिकाओं को
मैं घूम घूम कर बेचूंगा किंतु जुल्म के
आगे कभी सिर नहीं झुकाऊ कोलकाता हाई कोर्ट
के जज भी हिकी की लेखनी का शिकार हुए और
एक ऐसा वक्त आ गया जब हिकी मुकदमों के बोझ
तले दब गए उनका अखबार बंद हो गया उनके
दुर्दिन शुरू हो गए और वह जेल भेज दिए गए
हिक्की ने वार टिंग्स के अलावा उस समय के
न्यायाधीशों से काफी मिन्नतें की कि
उन्हें कोई राहत मिल जाए लेकिन किसी का
कोई दिल नहीं पसीजा और जैसा कि मैं पहले
ही बता चुका हूं कि स्वभाव से वह हटी तो
थे ही साथ ही उन्होंने ठान लिया कि अब कुछ
भी हो जाए ब्रिटेन वापस नहीं जाऊंगा
अंग्रेजी हुकूमत से लोहा लेते हिकी का
निधन 1820 ईसवी में हो गया मित्रों वह दौर
था जब देश में अंग्रेजी अखबारों के अलावा
बांगला उर्दू और फारसी में भी अखबार छपने
लगे थे लेकिन हिंदी का कोई पुरोधा सिर
नहीं उठा पा रहा था हिक्की साहब के तेवरों
से प पत्रकारिता को एक नई दिशा तो मिल ही
चुकी थी केवल एक समर्थ नेतृत्व की
आवश्यकता थी और यहीं से शुरू होती है
हिंदी की लड़ाई वह साल 1826 का था और
तारीख थी 30 मई जब हिंदी में एक साप्ताहिक
अखबार ने अपनी आंखें कोलकाता के कालू टोला
मोहल्ले में खोली जी हां उत्तर प्रदेश के
कानपुर शहर के निवासी पंडित युगल किशोर
शुक्ल ने इसको जीवन दिया नौकरी के लिए
शुक्ल जी कलकाता गए थे और पत्रकारिता का
वहां उन्हें ऐसा नशा चढ़ा कि उन्होंने
उदंत मार्तंड के नाम से एक अखबार निकालकर
ही दम लिया पंडित जी ने इस अखबार को भी
अंग्रेजी सरकार के खिलाफ हथियार बनाया और
भ्रष्टाचारियों को निशाने पर लेना शुरू
किया मित्रों बता दें आपको कि उदंड
मार्तंड का अर्थ होता है कि उगता हुआ सूरज
इस अखबार की खास बात थी कि इसमें समाचार
सुर्खियों के रूप में छपा करते थे और खूब
सारा विज्ञापन भी समाहित रहता था
अंग्रेजों से लोहा लेते और कई चढ़ाव उतार
देखते हुए यह अखबार भी 11 दिसंबर 1827 को
बंद हो गया इसके 2 साल बाद राजा राम मोहन
राय ने हिंदी में बंगदूत का प्रकाशन आरंभ
किया जो लगभग 100 साल तक प्रकाशित होता
रहा और 1827 से लेकर 1930 तक के सफर में
प्रांतीय भाषाओं में पत्र पत्रिकाओं का
खूब प्रचार प्रसार हुआ इनमें से कई तो
अंग्रेजी हुकूमत से टक्कर लेते थे तो बहुत
सारे अखबार गोरों का गुणगान भी करते थे
1930 से लेकर आज तक की हिंदी पत्रकारिता
ने खासा तरक्की कर ली है लगभग छोटे मजले
और हिंदी बड़े हिंदी अखबारों की संख्या
में काफी इजाफा हो रहा है और यह संख्या
लगभग 1 लाख के आसपास पहुंच रही है हिंदी
चैनलों की संख्या में हर दिन बढ़ोत्तरी हो
रही है करीब 500 से ज्यादा स्थानीय और
राष्ट्रीय हिंदी चैनल अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे
हैं साइबर मीडिया में हिंदी के ब्लॉग और
वेबसाइटों की भरमार है करीब 7 लाख वेबसाइट
हिंदी में है यूनिकट के चलते विश्व को
हिंदी ने एक समानांतर सूत्र में पिरो दिया
है मीडिया में हिंदी का बाजार 75 से 80
फीसद के बीच राजस्व दे रहा है वास्तव में
हिंदी पत्रकारिता ने बीते 20 वर्षों में
जिस क्रांति का सूत्रपात किया है वह
निश्चित ही इस भाषा के और पुष्ट होने का
संकेत दे रहा है कुछ दिक्कतें तो हैं
लेकिन हम जैसे अनुवाद के सहारे हिंदी
पत्रकारिता का प्रचार प्रसार कर रहे हैं
और कहीं-कहीं पर विशेषज्ञ लेखन की भी
दिक्कतें सामने आ रही हैं लेकिन कुछ सवाल
फिर भी परेशान करते हैं कि आखिर भारतीय
पत्रकारिता को भाषा के खाने में क्यों
ढाला गया एक बड़ा सवाल है भारतीय
पत्रकारिता के इतिहास पर नजर डालें तो
देखते हैं कि देश में पत्रकारिता का
शुभारंभ तो तभी हो गया था जबसे हिक्की
साहब ने अखबार निकाला और और तो और
अंग्रेजी के मठाधीश भी 30 मई को
पत्रकारिता दिवस का आयोजन करने के पक्षधर
हैं क्योंकि हिंदी भाषा में इस दिन पहला
अखबार निकाला गया ऐसे में हिंदी
पत्रकारिता के लिए यह पूरा दिन समर्पित हो
गया तो मित्रों आज जब हिंदी अपनी प्रगति
कर रही है और क्यों ना हिंदी पत्रकारिता
को भी हम उस प्रगति के पथ पर ले जाएं जहां
से हम कुछ नया सीख सकें और इस देश और समाज
